Imac 21,5" Desk Mount removal

Hi Guys,
I'm from Italy and I've been looking for some info about the removal of the stand for my iMac 21,5".
Some forums on internet say that this action isn't possible on the iMac I own.
Sound strange even if I've already tried several times.
If You look at this Youtube video for a Led cinema (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmm7jWU-g2s)
I can say that it's not really a different system of My iMac!!! ... or maybe yes.
The target is to create a different stand to carry the iMac with me and make a specific bag to put it in.
I've tried by using a small credit card into the backside slot, where the mount fits in my iMac. Looking through the slot on the back of the computer I've been able to see the torx screws on a similar adapter .... no result. So Sad for this!!!
Has Anybody tried to do this action? Let me know your experience.
Thanks in advance , Alex.

  • Desk mounted articulated arm for 24" iMac?

    Hi Everyone,
Can anyone recommend a desk mounted, height adjustable articulated arm that's suitable for the 24" iMac, please? Must be available in the UK. This could be the clincher between an iMac and a MBP - and i'm looking to order next week!
Any bad experiences with fitting the Apple VESA Mount?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have used glass topped desks, I don't think apart from possibly getting broke by accident they are good at absorbing vibrations from keyboard or maybe even the Mac itself..I invested in a nice oak table, centre iMac -> Right, Printer -> Left, 2 x External HD's..plus lots of space for card readers/documents/office & cell phones etc etc etc... I have a small filing cabinet under the desk..works for me.
    Don't forget a ""comfortable chair"" ------- happy key tapping...L

  • Mac on a desk mount...

Ok, this might seem a bit odd. I also admit this thread isn't specifically related to the new Mac Pros, but to any modern tower Macs (or computers) in general: Is it possible that the harddrive is being damaged if you have the Mac (Pro, G5, whatever) sit on a desk mount? I mean the kind of mount that hangs from below the desk as sold f.e. by ikea. These mounts shake slightly when you accidently bump at the desk. Is that reason to worry?

You'll have to bump in to it incredibly hard to damage the hard drive. Modern drives can handle some vibration. I've got my Mac Pro suspended below my desk, hanging from the two "handles". I've only had it for two or three months, but it is still fine... (I did replace my boot drive with SSDs, but I've still got the hard drive in there for storage...)
It is better than when it was still standing on the floor. It was constantly sucking up dust and being hit by the wheels from my chair...

  • Will there be an Ergotron MX Desk Mount arm for the IPAD 2?

Having trouble finding a functional AND attractive clamping desk mount for a drafting table (which sits at an incline). The Ergotron is pefect but only made for computer monitors. After having researched this for a couple of weeks, Im here to tell you guys at Apple that there is a BIG hole in the market for IPad clamping desk mounts that arent ugly and cumbersom. This Ergontron in an IPad format would sell bazillions!

tdog10000, I work at Ergotron. We are just launching information on a new Universal Tablet Cradle, part number 80-106-085 for $39. It will attach to any mount with VESA. Find on ergotron.com in accessories category. Will be available later in June.

Will the new (thin) iMacs have a VESA mount kit?
I have my current iMac mounted on the wall, on an arm. It's the perfect setup for me. Will I be able to upgrade and keep this setup?

Looking through the tech specs, I couldn't find any mention of a mount:

Please use code tags.  If you don't know how to do this, click the 'BBCode' link on the bottom of the page for instructions (there are all kinds of neat formatting tricks included as well).

  • Thunar doesn't automatically mount removable devices

This is a newbie question, but I cannot find how Thunar automatically mounts removable devices. I've read the wiki and it says that I don't have to do anything else besides installing Thunar. Once I plug in my removable device, it can be seen in lsblk, but I need to manually mount it using the terminal. Thunar doesn't do anything to make it appear in the file system. Did I miss something?

    karol wrote:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Th … me_Manager says
While Thunar can support automatic mounting and unmounting of removable media, the Thunar Volume Manager allows extended functionality, such as automatically running commands or automatically opening a Thunar window for mounted media.
    so thunar-volman shouldn't be required.
Exactly. However, I tried to install the volume manager, but it didn't help. It should work without it.
karol wrote:Do you have gvfs installed?
I didn't (judging from the fact that writing gvfs in the terminal didn't find anything). I installed it, but nothing changed. How to configure it?

  • KDE - automatic mounting removable media broken?

    Hi,
I have just installed Arch Linux, along with KDE unstable.
The last time I used Arch and KDE (this was several months back, I think), I remember removable media working out of the box.
However, this time when I insert a USB drive, nothing seems to happen.
I have the udisks2 package installed, but udisks is not installed.
I have not added myself to the storage group (or any other special groups) as per the recommendation on the wiki regarding systemd (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Users_and_Groups).
When I insert the USB drive, I see the following in dmesg:

    Hi,
I have similar problem after major system upgrade. I can no longer mount removable drives as regular user. Only root can do that.
How can I allow any user (or at least my user) to mount/umount any media with any file system?
I would like to be able to mount in KDE extrernal usb dvd with UDF media, or /dev/sdh5 with NTFS or SD card with FAT32 in usb card reader.
I used to work in KDE before upgrade. Now i'm not authorized..

  • TS1389 Purchased song not allowed to play on my iMac. SC Info folder removed, still the song cannot be played.

One song is not allowed to play on my iMac, I'm prompted to authorize the iMac. SC Info folder removed, still the song cannot be played. Mac OS 10.8.5 !!!

Got it! Look at the information of the song (right click in your itunes library) and if you don't see yourself as a buyer of the song, you have to delete the song and download it from the store again.

  • G5 Under Desk Mount hardware recommendation...

I am looking for a reliable Under Desk Mount solution for our G5's for a lab where I work and support the Mac's at a local college. Any recommendations or companies that might be good for these heavy systems? Thank you!!!
    Doug Renz

Marathon was the only company I've ever seen make an underdesk mount for a G5, so unless you get lucky and find a dealer with that many in stock (highly unlikely that any dealer would have stocked that many), the "hanger" type mount is probably not going to be an option.
You might be able to find a clamp-type undermount that would work, though we didn't have good luck with clamp-type mounts and G5s. This type of CPU sling might also work; just make sure it's tall enough to handle a G5.
    Good luck.

  • Desk mount articulating arm 24" Imac

I am trying to find a zero footprint mount for my 24" Imac. All I find does not seem to be able to hold the weight. I can't wall mount due to location. I've spent hours online but can not find what I'm looking for.

    Ahhhh! Now I see!
    Try this....
Ask Mom if its OK to get one. Also ask Mom to help you get it all fixed up. Problem solved - I hope!

There are other sources for this type of mount.
    Regards and good luck.

  • How can you remove old conversations from the iMac. Even when I remove them they return when I start a new conversation with the same person. Only happens on iMac with the Beta iMessage program

How do you remove an old conversation using  the Beta iMessage on an iMac. When I open a new conversation with the same person the old conversation comes back

    Hi,
Previously iChat had tried a Last Chat/IM option when using Saved Transcripts - which itself was an option.
iChat has also tried "Saving" the Last Chat by leaving a Chat window open and using something similar to the Lion method of showing an app in the state is was closed in.
In Messages the option to Save Transcripts has been removed and Chats or all types are saved as a matter of course.
What this tends to mean for your iChat style Buddy Chats is that it opens all the Transcripts  for that buddy as a sort of History you can scroll back through if you want  (I have  some Buddies with saved chats gong back to 2004)
With the Syncing of iMessages with iPhones and iPads (or Touches) then it seems this works slightly differently.
Although you can delete the chat and the contents of the Chat as separate action it is true that in the Beta as soon as you connect to the same Contact that the contents of the previous chats are shown to you.
I have found that Messages stores a data base of info on iMessages in Your Home Folder/Library/Messages
I have found that deleting this chat-db removes the "History" that keep popping up.
By default the Saved "iChats" are also stored in the Home Folder/Documents/iChats (At least this is the default place iChat used and they go to the same iChats folder where ever you had it)
Some people claim removing iMessages saved here stops the "History" reappearing.
In Lion the only access to the Home Folder/Library is via the Finder's Go Menu and hiding down the ALT key

  • IMac g5 will not mount in target disk mode

I am trying to recover data from an iMac G5 with a failing hard drive. The mac recently stopped booting and does not get past the grey startup screen before just turning off. There have been many other cases like this that I have looked at, but I still have not found a solution. I have started up from the install disk and can see that disk utility still regonizes the disk (althought it is marked as failing) but no options for repairing or verifying are available (greyed out). System Profiler on the non-target mac can see the drive (under firewire tab), but I don't know if I can mount it because Disk Utility can not see it. Is there anything I can do to extract the files? Thanks for any help you can offer.     Sheldon

If the HD has failed on the old computer then you can either recover from your backup, however I'm assuming from your post you were not backing up. If that is the case then you can purchase Data Rescue 3 (Google it) and see if it can recover some data or  you will need to take it to a data recovery service which will be extremely expensive.
As a general rule of thumb ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS have a solid backup plan! Beginning with Leopard 10.5.x there is no excuse to not at least be using Time Machine. If you are not familiar with TM then please watch the Time Machine Tutorial.
