IMac 24" 2.4GHz ship estimates

I ordered the iMac 24" 2.4GHz and it says Ships 5 to 7 Business days. Does anyone know if theirs actually shipped at 5 days? Just curious, today is the 5th day!

I, too, ordered the 24" 2.8 Core2 Extreme iMac back on August 13th, along with a White Macbook. Both were ordered on the same day. On my original invoice receipt, it has it down that the Macbook mentioned the "Ships within 24 hours" and the iMac said "Ships 3-5 Days".
The Macbook arrived on the 15th, and I noticed that the online order status for the iMac changed from the original "Ships in 3-5 days" to a message saying "Custom Configuration" and "Expected to Ship 5-7 days". The only thing I changed during the time of purchase in the cart from the defaults was adding the extended apple care.
I Received a message from apple on the last day of the 5-7 day period saying that due to reasons beyond their control, the new shipping date was Aug. 28-30. I spoke with the Apple Business Agent that I bought the computers through, and he mentioned that they got a memo from Apple saying how MANY business agents were calling to complain about the shipping delays, and in Apple's memo it stated, and I quote, "...The delay in shipment of iMacs is due to a delay in shipping..."
Not sure what that means, but thought I might add my two cents to this thread.

  • How to buy imac 27 inch and ship it to iraq ?

hi im ali jalal from iraq
and i want to buy imac 27 inch from apple online store and ship it to iraq is there any way to do that ? cuz i cant see my country in the list
    thanks

I cannot imagine any official site but that is only part of the problem ... reliable as a Mac generally is, you still need service facilities; how do you take advantage of any guarantee and the Apple Care facility will not be open to you.

I've only had my new iMac for a week and today when I rebooted I got a gray circle with a line through it. I've already done the command-r and used Disk Utility to Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions... over and over. As a last resort I even reinstalled Mountain Lion with the OS X Internet Recover. No such luck. After it still booted with the gray circle with a line through it.
I was able to use "Scan Image for Restore" to see that all my files are on the hard drive.
    What should I do?

    Thanks for the response, mende1!
Unfortunately, I also previously tried booting with the Shift key. Nothing. It acted like I wasn't even pressing the Shift key. I tried it multiple times. Sorry, I forgot to say that in my initial post.
I just tried the Option key and selected Macintosh HD (the only option). I still got the gray circle with the line though it.
I've already spent at least 30-40 hours installing all my software and transferring over all my pics and music. I can't "erase the disk and install OS X again".

  • Imac 27 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7,with 1TB Fusion Drive and logic

hi all, i just upgraded my old imac and now im going to have the 27 inch 3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7,with 1TB Fusion Drive
how will logic is going to work? is it much better than my old i3 21.5 imac? i didnt like to work with my old imac, was very laggy.
    thanks
    Arad.

Anything purchased after mid-July has EFI (like BIOS in PCs) that only likes Lion.   Maybe some up through mid-August could possibly run SL, but anyhing sold last week is Lion-only.
A very lucky few accidentally receive a SL-system when they buy new, but very few.

  • Ordered iMac with next day shipping

Okay I know this question gets asked a lot... and I've already spent over an hour trying to find the answer to my question. But no one gives the specifics of their shipping option, or when someone finally answers their own question, they don't post it to the forums... very annoying.
I ordered an iMac (21.5" with 8gb ram, core i5) on the morning of Oct 11th (10am central time U.S.).
Of course, I chose the "next day shipping", which I know means it ships the next day after processing... but my order is still "Processing Items"....
From your guys' experience, if you've ever chosen next day shipping on a COMPUTER (or maybe a phone, or whatever), how long did your order status say "Processing Items" for?
It says the delivery date is Oct 15-17, but it's Oct 15 already, and not sure it will get here by the 17th either the way things are looking.

  • Imac Basestand scratched in shipping need advice?

hi guys. last week i got my new imac i5 3.1ghz 27" in the mail.. i ordered the 2gb video card one so i had to get it from the website. I just recently noticed the base stand has 2 very minor dents in it along with another minr dent on the top along the glass. The mark on the top near the glass is very little and im assuming it was caused while installing the new video card when i ordered it. Im not very concerned about that as its very very minor and not seeable while operating the computer.
The marks or dents on the base stand are noticeable and very annoying. I called apple care and they said they could order a new base stand and have the apple store that is near me install it for free. i was told they would need to remove the glass and install it from the inside on the new imacs. After reading online many people are experienceing issues where they bring there new imacs in for service to get them returned in worse condition. Common examples are dust on the inside of screen, fingerprints on inside of screen, more marks and scratches then previous, etc...
My question is simple. Should i just live with the minor marks on the base stand and top of monitor? Should I allow apple to attempt to repair the basestand? Should i just try to return the unit all together through apples website and get a new one? Im aware alot of these machines suffer from screen bleeding in the corners and mine doesnt have it that bad. I dont want to get one in worse condition or go through all of this for nothing. What should i do? Thanks

Thanks for your comment man! I do have the original box that it came in but i do not have the original shipping box that housed the apple box. I will have to find one i suppose. Its hard to notice these things right away and sadly i only noticed them as i started using it more frequently. The screen bleed was something i noticed immediatly but I know alot of apple products suffer from this. I will contact apple and schedule a return on this. The screen bleed i can live with i guess but the marks i can not. i dont want to take it in to the apple store when its a week old for something i shouldnt have to deal with to begin with just to get it back with other issues.

  • IMac 24inch 2.4GHz Logic Board Core 2 Duo

I have a white 24 inch Imac 2.16 ghz computer got in 2007.Having problems with mouse cursor not showing on monitor
takes 10 to 15 seconds to come back.I think it is the video card aNvidia GeForce 7300GT.Found info on google on this problem
in some sites they are saying tha apple knew of this problem buy by looks of things they let it go without telling owners .
I do not know it this true or not.
If some one  has a anwser about this or knows how to contact Apple to see if they can fix this problem.

Hi Ian, it easily could be that, but let's try this...
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Current shipping estimates for iphone 4s?

I ordered a black iphone4s 32gb (the most popular model) on December 30, 2011. The store salesperson said it would ship by 1/13/2012 (online said the same thing). Has anyone else ordered the same model around the same time  as I did? Just want to see if it will actually take that long to ship (I have not received any shipping confirmation/info yet)
    Thanks!

I ordered the white iphone 4s 32g on New Years Eve and, just within this past hour, the status of the order has gone from "We have received your order" to "Your order has been sent for processing." My guess is that yours is at the same.

Have been running computer with OSX lion for a number of months with no problems.  Installed a SSD more than a year ago.

    Good news.
After further research on the Internet, and going through what was happening to my screen, I decided to change the screen power supply - not easy unless you have a spare one. I called the local Apple store and sked if I could borrow one for a few days, and the answer I got was a yes.
Since replacing the power unit for the Apple HDD cinema screen all seems to be well. Which is great.
    I do have a few questions however;
Why can't you buy a replacement power suppply instead of spending £900 on a new screen?
Why wasn't this checked by the Apple technicicians when they were looking at the problem?
Hopefully this will help someone else, and avoid the frustration that I have experienced with Apple.

  • High Temperature on iMac 27" 3.4Ghz 4GB RAM 2GB RADEON CARD....

Im a little worried, a lot actually, all im doing is browsing the forums, installed flash and and a few updates and thats it, temps are:
    HD =126F
    CPU =110F
    AMB =76F
    GPU DIODE =171F
    GPU HS =162F
    MEM CONT. =124F
    OPT DRIVE =122F
    POWER SUPPLY 2 =137F
    OPT DRI =1150 RPM
    HARD DRIVE =1099 RPM
    CPU FAN =939RPM
    Havent even started WoW yet!
Please help/advise, is this bad, normal or even good(good - i doubt).
    Thanks

Apple doesn't publish maximum temps however there are safeguards built into the machine, if it senses it's going to overheat it will warn you and then shut down if you ignore the warning. It's VERY rare this ever occurs.

  • Powermac G5/iMac 2.4ghz Intel

I just upgraded my PowerMac G5 2.0ghz to the iMac Intel 2.4ghz. Did I do the right thing? I still have my PowerMac up and going and haven't even opened the iMac yet.

I don't know where you're going with this. The answer is likely, "sure…" but it depends upon what you expect to do with your intel-processor based iMac, as opposed to your PowerPC based Power Macintosh.
Just us the Migration Assistant on board the iMac to migrate your data and settings, and you'll be fine in terms of replicating your initial configuration in the new environment.

  • New iMac plan...look OK?

I currently have an early 2008 24" iMac.
I am upgrading to a BTO 27" iMac that should be shipping shortly - except for memory (stock 4GB only), it has the top available specs including 3.4Ghz quad core i7 with 2TG HD and 256GB SSD and 2GB graphics card.
Here is my deployment plan: would appreciate any comments on if this looks OK or could be improved in any way:
Confirm correct configuration, mainly that the OS (Lion) is on SSD (this iMac is supposed to be configured with OS on the SSD). Anything else to check (do I need to check latest EFI, or should that be safe to assume?)
Boot from DVD with memtest86 to confirm stock iMAC and its 4GB RAM is OK. I was planning to run for 24 hours.
Replace stock 4GB iMAC ram (2x2GB) with 16GB Samsung OEM RAM from ordered from OWC (4x4GB).
Re-run memtest86 with new RAM for another 24 hours. (I hope the originally-reported memory problems with 2010 iMacs and earlier 2011 iMacs have been fixed by now; haven't seen any recent issues reported when using OWC Samsung OEM RAM).
Partition 256SSD with bootcamp to run Win7 (see next step for partition size).
Win7 partition size=55GB. Don't criticize this value without evidence. MS support says min. required disk size for Win7 is 20GB (for 64bit). I will only run one main program on Windows (plus a couple other programs for occassional use, like Chrome and Adobe Reader). Even allowing for some extra space for SSD inefficiencies, I can't see how this value (55GB) would be too small. So if you disagree, please don't bother commenting WITHOUT SOME KIND OF EVIDENCE.
Install Win7 on its SSD partition and make sure all runs OK.
2TB hard disk will be for Lion only (can't see a need for another partition usable by Windows, so I wasn't therefore planning on adding any FAT or NTFS partition) - if you think I SHOULD add a partition for Windows on the HD, please advise.
Move my Lion home dir to 2TB hard disk using Preferences settings.
Put a small user data directory on SSD to store things I want fast access to (maybe my iTunes library, and certainly a temporary Aperture library for initial storage of new projects that I work on [after initial processing on the SSD library, these projects will be exported and then imported into main Aperture library on 2TB hard drive).
Also need to copy over user data and copy over (or re-install) applications from old iMAC: never did that before, so I don't know if Apple has any good tools for that or not...can anyone advise?
Well, thats all I can think of for now, any comments??
    Thanks,
    Colin.

Add this to your reading list: Pondini's Setup New Mac guide. There's no reason to confirm the setup or run memtest (Rember) on a new machine. Follow the setup guide steps and after migrating from your 24" iMac, then move stuff to the HD. Once all of that's done, then set it up for Boot Camp. I'll leave those details for you, since I don't do windoze.
