please help me

Hello nonnozeus
Welcome to Apple Discussions
That looks like the front glass panel needs to be removed for cleaning.
Your options are to take it to your local Apple Service Provider/Apple Store and have then clean the display and glass panel, if it's no longer under warranty then (DIY) Do It Yourself.

• Imac starts with a black screen and flashing white light on console

I have a 24" imac, it is white and it is from the first year they used the intel chip. When I power it up I get a black blank screen and then the white light on the lower right side of the console flashes on and off. I hear the disk drive spin (I put the 10.4 install disk in ) and it does nothing. How do I get the disk out. I even tried holding down the mouse button at start up and that doesn't work.
I tried to remedy this myself by resetting pram. I have taken out memory and put it back in. I have been able to get it running twice before by taking out memory and putting it back in but it only worked for a little while and then I turned it off and went to turn it back on and same problem again. Is this a logic board problem or something else. I think I read if it was the logic board the disk drive wouldn't work but I hear it spinning.
Can anyone help me?

Hi MacGruff69
That has all the classic signs of unseated, improperly seated or bad RAM.
Laying the iMac face down on a soft towel and reseat the module(s) by pressing real hard on each one with both thumbs, then closing the ejector clips and replacing the cover.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1432
Them if the iMac still has the same symptoms, try one module at a time or replace the module(s) with new one(s).

• IMac g5 20" iSight no display loud fans white light

Hi,
Wondering if someone can help at all,
I've recently been given an iMac which needs repaired,
It seems certain parts have been stripped from it but want to make sure nothing else is wrong before buying replacements.
When I plug in it, I get the white light in the bottom right corner, fans go quite loud after around 5-10 seconds, and no display, also bad smell but think it could be because the previous owner smoked alot.
When I opened up the iMac, the hard-drive was missing and from what I can tell the hard-drive bay too, along with the ram & cd drive.
If I buy these will the mac work or is there another problem

Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I've just managed to work my way through to the capacitors and they seem to be fine, looking at the soldering I would say they may have already been replaced on the logic board.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Would love to get this working again, Just need to replace what was stripped.
Thanks again

• My g5 imac will not turn on and has a flashing white light

Could somebody please advise me?
I tried to install RAM in my imac g5.
Unfortunately I purchased the wrong RAM so when I opened the bottom I took out the original RAM to compare the two and put the original (512mb) back in, closed the compartment and sealed the bottom with the two screws again.
When I tried to turn the imac back on the screen was blank and the white light in the bottom right hand corner was repeatedly flashing.
Help...

I had the same issue.  Found another post that you need to push with surprising force with two thumbs.  I did so, felt a slight click; started it and we're golden.  Pulling the old RAM out though, I realized it has little tolerance for torque without jamming.  So save the force for when you are certain you are in straight.

• Weird keyboard lighting issue -only white background

Hi Guys
I am a bit stumped,  for some reason my keyboard only shows white light instead of colours. If i log off and on some times the colours do change (some times only). I have updated the BIOS and steel series engine, steel series does come up every now and then with "driver not avaliable.application will exit now". i installed the one from MSI and from Steel series website and still nothing. This only started after i closed the lid (sleep mode) and let the battery run flat.

Have you tried un-installing both steelseries engine then re-download one from msi website and see if issue remains?

• HT2173 iMac late2006 17". When power button pressed, white light comes on and stays on but nothing else happens?

As stated: our Mac won't turn on other than the white light on the bottom right.
Read through the support page which suggests taking the back off ( and use internal power switch) as in owners manual section 4, however it's not in there.  At the bottom there is a couple of screws and a couple of star head screws, I'm guessing I need to undo these and possibly pull from the bottom.  Don't want to break it,
Thanks
Mike

A steady LED light generally indicates that the computer is on and the display is asleep.
Before you get inpatient and start taking out screws or trying to open it up, which is not an easy task on that model.
Reset the SMC, as per > Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
3. Wait fifteen seconds.
4. Attach the computer's power cord.
5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Then run the AHT, as per > Using Apple Hardware Test

• Corners of screen are bleeding white light! URGENT!

Hi
I just bought a Intel-based iMac Core Duo 20" a few days ago. Not the glossy screen version.
Really would like to hear from a lot of people about this before I contact apple:
The corners of my screen appear to be bleeding a small amount of white light, most notably from the lower right. This is very visible when watching movies, when the scene is very dark or pitch black, my monitor isn't.
I was wondering if this is just something that 20" screens do, because my old 4:3 19" DVI certainly doesn't do this.
Several ways to test if your monitor does this:
photoshop: make a black document and press F twice to go full screen, now press TAB to remove the tools.
front row: open any movie and pause before it starts, hopefully on a black screen.
Would really really appreciate a lot of responses to this. It may be a problem with the mac, may just be normal, I have no idea.
Here is an image of what happens: (slightly exaggerated due to the long exposure and offset angle)

Is there a glossy screen version of the iMac? That would be news to me...
My 20" Cinema Display does this, though only from a specific viewing angle. It's not visible when looking at the display straight on. I believe the effect is somehow caused by the anti-glare coating and how it refracts the light, because the color of the "leakage" changes with the viewing angle.
My 20" iMac uses a different, more reflective anti-glare coating and the "leakage" effect is there, but very subtle, not as bad as in your picture. So I guess Apple uses different LCD panels in the iMac and it depends on your luck of the draw...

• I am unable to set my WD mybook world edition (white light) for time machine.

I have new iMac running OS X Mavricks 10.9 and a WD mybook world edition (white light) connected via eithernet to router.
I am unable to set up time machine using this drive.
I can see the MyBookWorld drive in Finder and read and write files with no problems.  I can also see the MyBookWorld_Backup drive but I am unable to connect.
Time machine can see the drive but when I select, use drive, it trys to connect and gives me an error message: There was a problem connecting to the server "MyBookWorld-Backup"
I have already updated the hardrive firmware.
Any ideas?

WD and their lack of support for Mavericks:
A recent email from WD reads:
Dear WD Registered Customer,
UPDATE: November 1st, 2013
As a valued WD customer we want to make you aware of new reports of Western Digital and other external HDD products experiencing data loss when updating to Apple's OS X Mavericks (10.9). WD is urgently investigating these reports and the possible connection to the WD Drive Manager, WD Raid Manager and WD SmartWare software applications. Until the issue is understood and the cause identified, WD strongly urges our customers to uninstall these software applications before updating to OS X Mavericks (10.9), or delay upgrading. If you have already upgraded to Mavericks, WD recommends that you remove these applications and restart your computer. If you have already upgraded to Mavericks and are experiencing difficulty in accessing your external hard drive, please do not save anything to the drive, disconnect the drive from your computer, and contact Western Digital Customer Service at http://support.wd.com/country/ for further assistance.
The WD Drive Manager, WD Raid Manager, and WD SmartWare software applications are not new and have been available from WD for many years. However, solely as a precaution WD has removed these applications from our website as we investigate this issue.
Sincerely,
Western Digital
Which is basically Western Digital informing you that their out-of-date utilities don’t support Mavericks.
In any case those utilities are not the most effective. The moral of the story is: the first thing you should do after buying a WD drive is to format it as HFS Extended (Journaled) and not install ANY of their utilities but instead use reliable applications like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper - or Time Machine.

• White light, no display or startup

So I'm deep into the trail of tears with my MBP 2.4 a1229. I very cleverly spilled some hot tea on my display which essentially killed it. 2/3 dead but everything else worked. I hooked it up to an external monitor and used it for a few days while waiting for replacement parts. No problems with the functionality of the computer at all. I ended up replacing the display and the keyboard. Upon reassembly there were a couple issues. The display worked and the keyboard worked but the computer wouldn't automatically sleep when you closed the cover. The screen would stay lit with it shut and just go to sleep after the designate time. I didn't think this was a huge issue and was just going to take it apart again once I got the time and see where i missed something. Well 4 days after the initial repair I put the computer to sleep before I went to bed and tried to wake it up in the morning. White light in the front is on but no one is home. I have powered it up and down a number of times. the drive spins up but there is nothing on the screen, no start up tone at all and no action other wise. I have tried an external monitor without success. I've reset PMU, changed seating and reseated RAM and tried with and without the battery. Researching i've found a number of issues that might fit like the logic board but the delay in the issue and the sleep problem make me wonder if it's not something simpler. Anyone think this might be some sort of hinge or sleep sensor issue? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Just as a note, I'm 4 hours from the nearest apple store so...

The sleep sensor consists of a reed switch and a magnet. The magnet should be on the edge of the display--you can usually find it with a paperclip. I think we may have the same Mac, and on mine the magnet is on the right side of the display a little over halfway up. When you close the lid, the reed switch would be in the corresponding spot under the top case near the optical drive.
My guess is that the reed switch could be malfunctioning or broken, especially since the computer wouldn't sleep when you closed the lid. Either that, or the magnet was missing or out of place. It's also possible its cable was damaged.
You can also try the steps in this article and see if anything helps:

It's even possible that your computer had developed the NVIDIA issue:

Hope something helps here. Good luck!

• White light stays on during sleep mode.

When my imac intel goes to sleep the white light blinks only for a short while and then stays on. Is this a problem? I have had this imac since Feb 06 and it just started doing this recently.

blinks going hard drive is sleeping, then stays steady on when display is only asleep
this is the normal proceedure
check your energy saver preference.
things can get more complicated if your display & hard drive are set to sleep at same time

• Won't boot - no display, solid white light.  Fans spin up and gets loud.

Hi Everyone,
I have a Core Duo 20" that won't boot. The display won't light up, and the white light stays on the whole time. No chime. Fans start slow, but then gradually gets very loud after over the course of a few seconds.
I've began taking it apart. One suspect area is the DC/DC Inverter board. The POWER_GOOD line is only showing 0.16V. Most power supplies uses signaling between 3V and 5V so I'm suspecious of this 0.16V POWER_GOOD signal.
Can someone help chime in (no pun intended), or verify the POWER_GOOD signal voltage of an early 2006 iMac Core Duo (2105)?
THANK YOU!
Yue

By the way, I've done AppleOption+PR (from my LCII days!), and have removed the logic board battery, waited, reinserted and retired without success. Thanks!

• Just a SIMPLE query: No blinking/pausing white light when asleep?

Hello all.
Just got my new Intel iMac, very cool. I've set the mac to Display Sleep only and no HD sleep, when the screen goes black, there is no blinking white light at the lower right corner of the iMac, unlike my 1st gen G5 version.
How would I know then for sure, that my iMac is asleep and not shut down?
Thanks and cheers

It would have been nice, if the black Apple for example would glow slightly, but no. There is no way of knowing it, other than pressing some key on keyboard. If it wakes up... Oops, it was sleeping. If it doesn't, then it is shut down (or otherwise unwilling to co-operate with you).
I wonder, if this really is some environmental issue. Powering off your computer uses less electricity? If so, that is good, because climate change has struck again: Another christmas in a row without snow here in southern Finland...

• Weird White text at the bottom and in the search bar of iTunes

So my iTunes (ver.10) somehow has a weird white colored text at the bottom where it tells you what your song count, days, and gigabytes in your library are? And the text is a super light gray in the search box in the upper right hand corner...what the heck? Does anyone know how to change this?
/Pictures: http://goo.gl/Bs26I
Thanks so much!

Either the iPhone has crashed in some way to cause it to corrupt badly enough to need restoring to work (either hardware issue or software corruption) or it has been connected while holding down the Home button.
Try resetting the handset (Hold Home & Power together for 15secs until Apple appears) and if it still goes back to recovery mode it means there's a major software issue or a hardware fault

• Is white light on after RSD?

I just started to experience some weird problems with my MB ( week 31).
I would shut down the MB at night, close the lid and recharge during the night.
At the morning, the white light is on (like it is asleep not shutdown) and I have a terrible time trying to start the MB. I always have to remove the battery first then start the MB.
Question is :
When you experience RSD is the white light stay ON or OFF?
It is possible that I am not waiting long enough after shuting down when I close the lid or the thing is RSD's.....
This problem does not happen every day but seems to be once or twice a week.

You have, what I've termed LOD for Lid Of Death. What is happening is that your MacBook is not going to sleep. This causes two problems, first it gets very warm and second it drains the battery. If you did not keep it plugged in you'd find the battery would be completely empty and your MacBook shut off. This is not RSD as the previous post mentioned.
This can also happen even when your computer goes to sleep correctly. To resolve the problem, you can as you mentioned, pull the battery and disconnect power. Or you can simply hold down the power button until you hear the MacBook turn off. Wait a few seconds and then turn it back on.
I don't know the cause, many have speculated it has to do with devices connected (USB, etc) or maybe Bluetooth. I use neither and even turned off my Bluetooth and still experienced the problem.
My ProblemBook (being repiared for RSD) did this quite often. My newer MacBook did it to me once (I think) so far.
If you can it might help to track the problem so that someone from Apple can look at the system logs.

• White light plz help

I have a 500mhz indigo imac when i press the power button it blinks a white light once and doesn't turn on i opened it up thinking maybe the button was stuck making it stay in sleep mode but it's not plz help me thanks.

No chime can be a symptom of a flat logic board battery.
Perhaps the RAM is bad, but that's unlikely if the machine worked before. Try reseating RAM or removing everything but the stock RAM.
If it's not that, then go here and download the appropriate manual for your iMac, and follow the troubleshotting steps:
http://www.whoopis.com/computer_repair/
Opening the Mac can potentially expose you to up to 26kV of voltage. Make sure you know what you are doing before attempting DIY repair on an iMac or any CRT.
