IMac 27 3,1 Ghz (2011)  |  yellow tint on lower part of the screen

Hello,
Just bought an iMac 27" 3,1 Ghz with AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1GB VRAM.
Unfortunately the lower third/quarter of the screen has a yellow tint. Very annoying if you want to do graphics and webdesign :-(((
Is this still the same LED problem like in 2009/10 ? Anyone else with the same issue and a new 2011 model ?
Very annoying and frustrating with an almost perfect machine. Temperature is very low, almost no noises – it would be a dream working place... Sorry, to say something negative about it, but the screen looks like it was used for ages and reminds me to the good old tube-days.
Any experiences and opinions are very much appreciated.

Same issue here too. I actually don't think most people would notice, but some of us have low tolerances for colour inconsistency. Anyhow, I've scheduled a return with Apple online. I think it may just be a characteristic of the display rather than something "wrong" with it. (?) So I'm not taking a chance on another computer, I don't think it would turn out any better. But yes, the lower half of my screen — and especially the center of the bottom — is clearly yellower than the top half. The problem is minimized if I turn the brightness way up, but then my eyes bleed, ha. When I keep the brightness set 6 ticks above "zero", I'm regularly distracted by the colour change. I can't notice it as much on a busy screen (versus a grey background) but that's not exactly a solution.

  • Yellow lines and some purple around the screen, and freezing, help?!

    hi i have an iMac G4 First generation, and lately, the computer has been malfunctioning in the strangest way;
its been either crashing and freezing up, OR invaded by yellow and orange lines all around the screen... i tried a clean install of system software and still no luck at all. i took out the extra ram that was in there, and still hasnt worked. yellow and orange still appears around the screen, and sometimes, the mouse seems to have black bars forming a square shape over it.
please help if anyone can. i would love to find a solution available that doesnt involve having to bring it in and replace hardware, however, i know that it is probably unlikely to be able to
these yellow marks around the screen are frightening!
    thanks!
    hope someone can help me

Read the information from Apple below and see if it applies:

Edit: Oops, sorry Blake - that applies to G5's. I would take your G4 to either an Apple store or an Apple certified technician.

  • Why do i need to restart my imac everyday like ten times to get it to work, also the screen displays little digital squares.

Why do i need to restart my imac everyday like ten times to get it to work, also the screen displays little digital squares.

    Hi Matt,
I purchased my imac in November of 2010 and below is a cut and past from Hardware overview. It has 1 TB hardrive, with 670 GB free. When i start up in the morning, it boots normal then freezes. Half the time i can get it to restart before it freezes, other half i have to power down then restart. At the same time throughout this process the little pixel squares show up sometimes in a single line or two aross the screen, then sometimes more random. After about 7 times of rebooting, everything runs fine for the day with no weird pixels. then i shut down at night, and start the porcess over in the morning. Thanks for your help!

  • 2010 21.5 iMac anyone get one not yellow tinted

I made the mistake of looking at the forum before picking up the base 21.5 iMac and all i see is the yellow tint issue
Then i googled and it looks like a real issue impacting most 21.5 iMacs. . . .seriously ?
I realize this is the er of issues but it seems larger than that
So any good 2010's out therE ?
    Tia

I had the 21.5" iMac for a couple of weeks. Decided I really wanted the 27" so back the 21.5" went.
Mine had a very yellowish tint in the bottom-right corner (4th quadrant) that radiates to the center of the display. It was so bad and extremely annoying when working with photos. My observation is from a person who's an avid DSLR photographer. It's less annoying when looking at the browser (surfing the Web). Depending on your use, you may or may not overlook this issue if you have it on yours. YMMV.
Do realize that my experience is in no way, shape, or form representative of all 21.5" iMacs. Just my personal experience with the one I had. BTW, it was ordered from the Apple online store.

  • Imac 2.4 Ghz intel Core 2 Duo. What is the best OS i can run?

I need to spend some cash on my OS X. I have a version 10.5.8 and a Imac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. 2GB of SDram
What is the best i can DO?

As Niel says 10.8.5 however in order to get the best experience upgrade the RAM to a minimum of 4GB, your system can run 6GB which can be purchased from OWC (www.macsales.com).

  • Yellow Tint Macbook Pro After Boot Up Screen(Apple Logo with White Background)

    Hi guys
I have just recieved my macbook pro 13" 2012 base model, the screen is yellowish when compared to other macbook pros.
The strange issue is that I notice when I power it on, the screen is normal(white is white) at the boot up screen(white background with apple logo in the middle). But the screen will turn yellowish at that screen right before it finishes booting up(right before the screen logs in), like it has loaded a display profile. But thats is not the case though because my display profile is at default like others.
So the screen turns yellowish right before it finishes booting up and comes to my desktop screen.
Any suggestions please? this is my first mac

    Hi Colloc
I bought my macbook from the apple online store.
I found out that every macbook pro screen changes colour before the booting up process completes. I did a comparison with another macbook pro (same model) and it turned out like that too. but the thing is, during usage, it can clearly be seen that my screen has a stronger yellow tint compared to the other one.
I returned my macbook and got a refund for now. I really want one but not sure if I should try buying one again.
    I sure yours is normal

  • Macbook pro 2011 screen doesn't dim all the way in part of the screen

    Hi, all--
This is really puzzling me so I hope someone can help me out. My Macbook Pro 13 inch (2011, Sept.) screen, when you dim it about halfway or less, shows something like a yellowish splotch in the middle of the screen, the size of around 4 quarters clustered in the middle. It was to the point where I could easily read the text on the screen even though the rest of the screen was pitch black. Now it's less pronounced (it was really bad about 5 minutes ago) but the middle of the screen is still readable even when the rest of the screen is black.
Does anyone know why this is, or why it might have gotten so obvious earlier? It was so bad that when the screen dimmed automatically there was literally this yellowish cast in the middle such that it wouldn't dim.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

That's not normal, and I've not experienced this with two MBPs. I would suggest you visit your local Apple Store/Genius Lounge so that they can repair the problem. In any case, post here with your results; I'm sure fellow users would profit from the information!

  • My brand new iMac (late 2012, 27") has a little scratch or something on the screen

I just bought a new imac 27", later half hour of use I noticed it has a little scratch on the screen, not on the front glass but behind it. too strange to be some dead pixel. Someone can tell me what is? Do AppleCare cover this? If they do, has to be exchange the whole machine or just the display? here is some picture:

It looks to me like a row of pixels but in any event you must return it within the 14 day period (or at least have a formally confirmed agreement that you will be doing this).   The latter applies if you live too far away from a suitable returns venue and it has to be returned by carrier.   Usually all carriage costs are covered.

  • IMac 27" (late 2012) GTX 680 MX, glitch and artifacts on the screen.

    Hello.
I have a one year old iMac 27" (Late 2012) i7, 8Gb RAM, GTX 680MX, 1TB Fusion drive. I was working at the computer and was away for two hours. When I woke my iMac from sleep mode on the screen appeared glitch and artifacts.

That could happen? This is a GPU problem? Or software?
    I am very sad.
It happened a month later after my 1 year warranty expired.

  • Screen has yellow tint

Whenever I turn my imac on it has a yellow tint. I've done the color calibration. Sometimes it'll turn back to normal, but when I shutdown/sleep and turn it back on it'll turn yellow again. Then other times when I do the color calibration, it won't even change, the screen will still have a yellow tint. I have no idea how this happened. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,
First, make sure your iMac is or is not on the Apple Repair Extension program: http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/ this addresses some video and power issues...
The only way I can make my screen slightly yellow or amber is through calibrating the display while in expert mode:
System Preferences > Displays > Color... from here pick any Display Profile to Calibrate, CHECK the box for Expert Mode, continue without changing anything till you reach 'Target White Point', you should check the box 'Use Native White Point', continue and SAVE AS a new profile name... this should get you back to nuetral white... if this fixes the problem you can always go back and calibrate this profile and tweak any settings you wish

  • Yellow tint screen on my iphone5

would it be possible to claim a new set because my screen is yellow tinted

A yellow tint on a new device's screen is not unexpected; this would be due to the adhesive used within the device. This tint should fade within 1 - 2 weeks.

  • Yellow tint (lower part of screen)

    Good day!
I am a very satisfied Z2 user for quite a while now.
My problem started recently when I noticed the lower part of my screen developing a yellowish color.
Should I send it to Sony service center or should I wait for a firmware update?
And would the service center accept it even if I bought it from a gray market?
    Btw, I'm from Manila, Philippines.
    TIA!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
First of all check the settings for white balance. You'll find it under settings > display > white balance.
If you have tried to change it without any difference when it comes to the yellow tint I suggest that you have your phone examined by a service center. Please contact your local Xperia support team for more information:

  • My Imac 27' screen is shutting off for no reason. The Imac is still running but the screen is black and stay like that. Is there anyone else with the same problem, and does somebody know what is this?

I had my Imac27' for about 1 year (I bought it january 2011) , and it worked fine. But two days ago a problem started. The screen is turning black suddently, and it stay like that until I reboot it. It's not cool. The first time it happen it was hafter a very long days of video editing, I tought it was to hot. But now I just started up the Imac and 10 minutes later it happen. And now  I transfer my desktop on my second screen, because the one of my Imac is constantly shutting of. What is this? Can I do something about that?

I´ve came across with the same problem and when I look out for solutions I found out that basically I had Three options
1.- Dim the brightness to the first 2 dots (that is the limit for me, anything above that shuts down again my screen)
2.- Replace an expensive part of the screen (about $900)
3.- Try with an external monitor to see if the problem was the screen or something else
What I did was to plug my flat screen to my mac with a Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/B/mini-displayport-to-vga-adapter?fnode =51
And… Problem Solved! now Im going to buy a Monitor that gonna cost me less than half of the replacement parts, my main monitor will keep siting down if i dim it above the 2 dots but at least I will have the other to work properly
So that´s that, I hope someone finds this helpful
P.S. Sorry if my english it´s not that good

  • Late 2011 Macbook Pro green pixels on the screen where dark colors should appear.

I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro I bought it new with 4 gb of ram. About 4 months ago i purchased 8 gb of pny ram for this model and upgraded the ram. I followed all of the safety precautions and discharged my static electricity before upgrading. It increased the speed of my mac and helps with certain tasks. About 2-3 weeks i notices my mac froze and strange green black and pink bars appeared on the screen so i hold the power button to shut it down and it solves the problem this will happen about once a month but otherwise my mac works perfect. Now about a month ago I powered my mac on and low and behold The screen was covered in green pixels. I tried rebooting twice and it didn't do anything then i let it sleep for about 5 mins opened my mac and the green pixels were gone. Now my mac is still usable and everything works its just sometimes like once in a while ill get a few pixels and closing and opening my mac fixes it. I was curious if this was related to one another or is my mac just starting to die....

I have been getting green pixels/boxes the last while...
I have noticed it after waking the machine from sleep. Not 100% sure if that is the only time it happens. It goes away after a few seconds, typically.
Any idea what is going on?
