IMac 27 inches,writing small

Hello,
I now have a 27-inch iMac to replace my old 24-inch iMac . 2560x1440 resolution makes all the fonts very small. For example in the menus , you have to watch because the writing is very small . I already changed the display under " View presentation options ." Unfortunately, even with the maximum of 16 , this is not enough to make reading easier. How ? I also tried it with TinkerTool , but some menus are now aligned (eg Mail). Apple should add a special option for 27-inch by expanding all the paperwork system. Do you have any suggestions?

Sorry about that. I happened to be working on my Mac Pro system when I listed that resolution. Here's a screenshot from my 27-inch iMac showing the resolutions that are available in the Displays preferences. Just open up the System Preferences and click on Displays. You should see the resolutions shown below. Give the various options a try and see if any of them work for you. If you don't have any of these resolutions listed then let us know which ones are available on your iMac.

A Photoshop Elements license is good for both Mac and Windows so it should be just a matter of downloading the Mac version and using your current serial number to activate it.

This usually happens because iCloud only keeps photo stream photos for 30 days (even though your last 1000 photos will remain on your phone until deleted). When you enabled photo stream on your Mac you only received photo stream photos from the last 30 days.
To get older photos to your Mac, create a shared photo stream containing them and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99). The be sure you check Shared Photo Streams in iPhoto>Preferences>Photo Stream. You can then import them to your iPhoto library by opening the shared photo stream album in iPhoto, then going to Edit>Select All, Control-clicking on any of the selected photos and selecting Import.

I can't open my iphoto library on an external disk (78 gb ntfs); if i copy the files on the iMac the file is smaller and not usable. how can i recover my photo?

i'm using the last version of iPhoto and i save my library on a western digital external USB drive; the drive is formatted in NTFS; i usually use tuxera to access and browse the files.
Unfortunately, i don't know why, i access this drive in read only mode, so iPhoto doesn't accept the library any more; i tried to copy the library on the iMac but the copied file is really smaller (54 gb instead on the 78 on the drive), and iphoto doesn't accept it.
i need to find a solution and to recover my library, i've no other copies?!
tuxera doesn't open any other ntfs drive i think the problem is there, but i have to finf other solutions to recover my photos.

This problem is entirely due to this:
the drive is formatted in NTFS
iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.
Do you get any error messages when you try and copy the file back to your Mac?
Do you have a back up?

U/I is a small window + preference can't be seen on imac the popup too small

When the T-Bird opens within the 21" iMAC is the Yellowstone OS, it is a small window and I have to manually enlarge.....and when I go to the preferences the popup is too small plus can't move the window information to read, in spite of the font being large enough. The popup is static in size so I can't enlarge it. Since the version installed, in the past three weeks, can't be found due to this problem. Sorry, can make it take a screen shot for you.
My question then is: will there an update soon or will I need to switch to another?

I have a 2007 IMac 20 inches with serious problems

Hi everyone, and thanks for the help, I have a 2007 20 inches IMac 2.66 Ghz with 4 Gb RAM and 320 Gb od hard disk, and recently I have been having problems, every now and then safari freezes and i can force quit but after that the computer just won't shut down I have to shut it down by pressing the power button for likr 5 seconds and that's ust heartbreaking, beside that I decided to re install the software and erease all, when I used the instalattion disc "Mac OS version 10.5.2" that came with the computer I repaired permissions and repaired the disk... Then when trying to reinstall the Mac OS X the disc just never pass the disk verification, sometimes it says that I have to clean the disk and try again (the disk is perfect) some other times it says that the verification failed because it can't find a software to install.... or something like that... I'm really getting frustrated because I'm following every step on the manual and recomendations... any ideas? please help! and thank you very much

It's possible you have a hardware problem, my recommend would be to do an Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode and see if it reports any problems.
It's also possible your HD is full or nearing capacity. All Macs should have at least 10-15% of the HD available at all times. With a 320GB HD the minimum amount of available space it should have is about 48GB. If you don't know how to check lock the HD icon in a Finder Window and type Command I (that's I as in Ivan) the window that opens will tell you the capacity, the amount used and the available space.

1080i video looks good on iMac but not on small movie screen

I have a 1080i video that I exported as a default 1440 x 1080 @ 59.94 fps. If I play the video on my iMac, which is 1920x1080, it looks good, but when I play it on a smaller movie screen you can really see the interlacing. I tried highlighting all my film on the primary timeline, going to Info --> Settings View from the dropdown box at the bottom, and then setting:
Roles: Video & Dialogue
Timecode Display: Drop Frame
Alpha Handling: None/Ignore Alpha
Field Dominance Override: Lower First
When I export and play that it looks pretty much the same, if not worse. I'm thinking that Drop Frame probably isn't good, but it still has the interlaced look.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just imported it from the camera. Again, I messed up earlier as it originally imported at 29.97.
How'd you do that? What format is your media exactly? Codec and complete specs.

Well, that's interesting. I didn't realize it told me what the Field Dominance is. Now I know not to use Lower.
Why should I not change the Field Dominance? Also, I was reading another post where a guy tried copying his videos from one project, 1080i, to another project, 1080p, and he was not successful. Have you tried this or heard of anyone being successful doing this? Thanks.

lag is a term used about when the process of the images can't be don fast enough by the video card
when one use a imac as a monitor it works just like a monitor as in it does not process the images just display them

20" iMac but things appear small on screen

I'm using a 20" Intel iMac and my display resolution is set at 1680 x 1050.
If i reduce the screen resolution things do get bigger, but the text appears blurry.
Is there another way of making things bigger? I know Safari allows this in the View menu, but how do i do this for other applications such as Garage band and Logic, etc?

The easiest way to zoom temporarily is to select "zoom using scroll ball" with a key of your choice (I use Ctrl). This allows you to quickly zoom in on what you are trying to read. It works in all programs and for graphics as well as text. I do wish, however, that Apple would allow more control over text size in menus, etc. except by using lower screen resolution. I certainly get tired of zooming with the mouse all the time.

Imac = text is too small

So I bought a nice big iMac 27 thinking it would be great for content - clear, clean text.
What I have is something that displays great images - but when it comes to typing, text, emails, working in many applications it is one big dissapointing strain.
The issue is the size of text. It is often tiny.
I make this complaint as someone who has been to the opticians and des not need glasses.
Yes I know I can (whilst in someprograms/web) use cmd +.
But I am unhappy there is no one setting for accessibility - allowing me to set up the standard size of text across software platforms.
The danger is eye strain, neck strain and poor user experience. Why have apple created this large display only to force us to peer at tiny objects within it. Where is the support for people who have disability or poor eyesight? Where is the cmmon sense?
I would appreciate a fix that does not involve me messing with my screen resolution. Without this I will be forced to retrun my Mac as Microsoft do not force their users to strain over text.

I had the same issues with my 27-inch iMac and now have it sorted:
<> Go to System Preferences > Displays and make sure the "Displays" tab is selected
<> Select "Scaled" if you are running higher than Mac OS 10.6.8. A number of resolution options will be displayed.
<> Select the resolution setting 1920x1080 and close system preferences. This give me--Mr. Weak Eyes--plenty of desktop real estate but the fonts are larger yet still sharp.
Individual programs and web sites may override this but they usually have a font size setting that lets you make things bigger.
Without this I will be forced to return my Mac as Microsoft do not force their users to strain over text.
New Windows computers fitted with new big displays are just as bad about this. That;s why both systems offere personalization settings like the ones I gave you.
A couple of tips:

Hello this is James Lawrence. I wonder to ask you what kind of ethernet for iMac 27" mid 2011 it is like CAT 5E or other?

Cat 5e cables work just fine. Cat 6 is only needed for true, full gigabit ethernet, which most people don't really need. If you are transfering large files, music, or video, cat 6 may be worth investing in as the cables are higher priced than cat 5e. I use cat 5e cables throughout my house and have no problem with my 50 MBS broadband service on a mid 2011 27" iMac like yours. The ethernet port will work with 10/100 switches and hubs just as well as 10/100/1000 gigabit units.

IMac playing up with small problems

Have a couple of problems but can't seem tofind a solution.
1. On opening Safari the text boxes of some sites are often squeezed tight and unable to write text into them. A restart seems to solve problem until next time.
2. Entourage. Opens up but sometimes the folders and other key bits of text are missing. Ongoing
3. In Safari some words have all the letters overlaid on top of each other. No pattern, sometimes a coloum or sometimes just the odd word. Restart solves for a while.
4. Opening up Word/Powerpoint and it claims no fonts or they are corrupt. Force quit and restart iMac and all works. Very random and very anoying.
Any help most grateful. Recent convert from PC's and Windows so my knowledge not helping me.

Numbers 2 & 3 are the same problems I'm having.
Any luck with this?
