IMac 27 inchs just turned off
Hi,
I just received my new iMac 27 inch. I configured all the starting things, then I connected it to my network to transfer some files from my windows pc.
I was transferring a movie from my windows pc, while doing that I went to download Mozilla Firefox 4 beta. I installed it then I went to my application folder to start Firefox, and just when I clicked the icon my iMac went off. Now I'm trying to turn it on but no matter how I press the back button, it doesn't turn on.
What should I do?
A quick question, Apple support toldme that they will send a new imac, and that I have to return the one I have. I received instruction by mail that I will be receiving prepaid labels from their carriers to return the iMac. Then later I received a new email about a new order that will be delivered between Oct 11 and Oct 18. The problem is that the email reference the old order, so when I go to the Order status link it shows me the old order with the tracking number for the one I have.
So I'm wondering if that is the order for the new iMac they will send me, and if so, there's no problem if the iMac I will return hasn't yet been delivered to them? Or Fedex will bring my new iMac and take the one I have to return?

Hello everyone.
I bought the new iMac last Sunday. Everything was good until yesterday. I started installing a lost of stuff like VMWare fussion + Adobe CS3 + Office 2004 when out of the sudden my iMac just "turned off"... I asked myself, well maybe is a reboot option of the CS3 or the Office (just me playing dumb like nothing is happening). I turned the iMac back on and like 2 min later... off again, and it did this like 5 times each time on a different time span.
I was wondering if someone experienced the same issues and how are they dealing with it? MAC Store any help? Phone support?

Thank you.Mine locked up using Safari once. The thing that confuses me is that I have played World of Warcraft extensively on it, which pushed the room temp up about 10 degrees, but using the scroll bar in Safari crashed the system.
One thing that makes me think it's a faulty power supply or something is that there is not a single error in any of the log files on the system. It's almost like the system just lost power.
I agree though, I too spent too much to be having any problems. I regret not taking my Powerbook G4 back when I got it because I knew that the harddrive had problems (it was making weird clicking noises that would halt the system until the sounds stopped). It ended up dying a month after Applecare ran out. Ugh! -
Imac just turns off. Is anyone else experiencing this?
My computer sometimes goes to sleep and i can never wake it up. It just turns off. Also what is the best way to set the screensaver and energy saver settings? Also is it better to put the computer to sleep or shut down? Looking for some good advice. Thanks.
First go into your system preferences and click energy saver and then click on schedule to make sure it's not scheduled to shut down. If not then close that window, next click on the restore defaults button. If you are not going to be using the computer for more than 8 hours I would shut it down, it not put it to sleep. It's a personal choice on the screen saver issue I personally don't use it, my monitor is set to turn off after 10 minutes.
Note: if you system keeps on shutting down after all of that then run Apple Hardware Test on your system. -

I have a mac book pro with retina,I haven't turned it on in a couple of months.no problems then, now when I try to turn it on i only get apple logo and progress bar. After a few mins the laptop just turns off and nothing eles.any help would be appreciated thanks

my iphone I fell to the ground yesterday, from a height of approximately 1 meter. after this I trailed off, now only turns on when I plug the usb but the apple appears and just turn off and turn back, there is nothing more that I recommend doing?
With that behavior you need to take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar for an out-of-warranty replacement. In the US that is $269 for the iPhone 5.

my iphone came up with that timing circle and just turned off and did not come back on ? even when i charge it now it still wont turn on ,do you know the problem?
If the battery was empty (and it may then take 10 to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

I have bought iphone 4s on July 12, 2012.in Zurich in offical Apple store (Glattzentrum) and after one and a half months it just turned off and not working since. I tried three charges and nothing (it detects that charger is on but it cannot be charged). So now I have a not working phone only two and something months after purchase. But the problem is that in Croatia we have two apple reseller stores and neither don't want to exchange it, although is under warranty!!!! The closest stores are 250 km from Zagreb...Of course I have contacted Apple store in Zurich but they told me to come in Switzerland or to send credit card data for receiving new iphone, the problem is I don't have credit card with 700 euro on it!!!! what to do?? who to call ??? where to get replacment device cause this is disaster???? I wanted to buy ipad but after all this I doubt to do so...I have not working Iphone payed around 700 chf or 800 usd and cannot change it in my country, is it possible for such vast organization like apple that this things can occur????? So much for customer support

i have an iphone 4s and it just turned off and wouldnt turn back on until i got home and plugged it in to the mains. however it wont connect to my carrier and wont let me turn wifi on or use the internet. all my data is still in place. however when i disconnect from the charger it switches straight off immediately. it also just flashes up the apple icon (on 10 seconds, off 10 seconds.......) when i connect to either car charger or computer. it also resets itself every single time i turn it back on using the mains charger. please help me understand what is happening to my phone
is there anything apple could do if i took it to one of their main shops???

Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced. -
my phone just turned off and will not go back on. my top lock button has been broken for over a year. Help! I have tried plugging it into wall unit and computer but my home button just doesnt do anything!
It seems that year long delay from having your lock button repaired has finally caught up to you. Sounds like you have some damage to your phone that requires repair/replacement. Take it to a Apple store or contact Apple Tech Support.

hey, my iMac G4 won't turn off. When I select "Shut Down" from the Apple menu, nothing happens. If I press 'OptionShift+CommandS' nothing happens. Each time I want to turn off my computer I have to manually hit the power switch, which I'm sure isn't too good for it.
Any advice?nevermind, I fixed it, there was some kind of stupid option to disable the shutdown & restart buttons in the Apple menu, I must have done this w/o realizing it. Oh well, at least this debacle reminded me to run a system scan w/ techtools

Phone just turned off on its own?

My phone ws fully charged and it just turned off. It wouldnt turn on again with just the top power button.
I had to hold the home button and the top button and it worked.

It's not a phone. It's a Unix computer than can make phone calls. It's a good idea to reboot it periodically, say, once a week. Not as often as you have to reboot Windows -
My phone just turned off and won't turn back on. I've read the posts saying to hold down the home and power button but my power button is broke. Any suggestions?
There is a thread or two about the home button and how to fix it at least temporally. It sounds like some people have found it to be a rather permanent fix. Do search on something like "Home button won't work". It has something to do with putting the charging cable into the phone and applying a little extra pressure upward on the key. Don't take my word for it though look for the thread/s. You said originally that your "Power" button was broken and the thread I have seen is about the Home Button.

My ipod touch just turned off on me, the screen just turned off and now it wont turn on whatever i do. I tryed plugging it in to charge and pressing down on the hold button and home button but its not doing anything, How do i fix it? Not sure what my operating system is but i know i havent updated to the newest version.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
