IMac 27" -Photoshop CS3/CS4 redraw issues- anyone else?

Hello Forum,
I am a pro photographer.
I do have the new 27", 3.06Gh, with 10.6.2.1
When I start up CS3 or CS4, open a picture at 100%,
and scroll within it, the borders show the "chess" pattern, and I have redraw issues.
Any help would be appreciated.

OK, sorry I didn´t follow this thread the last weeks.
This has to change now
I´m on 10.4.3.
It didn´t bring ANY improvement.
I have all updates installed, all firmware upgrades.
My videocard is the Radeon HD 4670.
Screen redraw is an absolute pain.
For example, if I have a lasso istalled, or work on a layer I see no refresh, or lagged, sometimes the picture reverts to a previous state, but only in displaying the data.Once I zoom in, I can force a correct display.

Photoshop CS3 & CS4 crashing on open (iMac 10.4.11)

I've had Photoshop CS3 for a while now and working just fine on my iMac OS X 10.4.11.
All of the sudden it started to crash upon opening it. Bridge opened fine, but when I double-click to open a file in Photoshop, it crashes too.
I have tried Disk Repair and Disk Permissions repair, I have tried un-installing Photoshop and reinstalling it.
I even downloaded the trial version CS4 and that crashes the same way too. I did upgrade the latest versions including Camera Raw. All updated. I do have 2 plug-ins (NoiseNinja & Portraiture) but I uninstalled them in the CS4 version. I also deleted my Photoshop Preference file.
The crash report say:

The MAC has 4GB of SDRAM and under "System Memory" it says Free: 1.82GB, but under "Disk USage" it says "Space Free: 108.96GB".
Any other ideas? I've been searching through forums, facts and online for over a day now. I'm a photographer in the middle of my busiest week & month of the entire year and this is really crippling my work.

and where is the rest of the crash report?
Part of the problem might be with /QXPScriptingAdditions -- some sort of Quark addition?

Photoshop CS3 Layer Style Issue

I have Photoshop CS3. Ever since I installed it I have had an issue with Layer Styles, one that I have not had before with other versions of Photoshop. Whenever I apply a Layer Style to a layer the Effects menu automatically drops down in the layers palette. I have to go and manually close the menus each time for every layer that I apply the style to. I have never had this problem before with any other versions of Photoshop.
If you have any ideas or advice on how to fix this problem it would be of a great help.

Go to the layers palette options and uncheck Expand New Effects.

IMac Sleep issues -- anyone else ??

I noticed there was some kind of recall for sleep/wake-up issues with the MacBook (pro?) but not the iMac. I've been having the following go on since I got my iMac about a month ago:
Intermittently wakes up from sleep -- sometimes when I'm in the same room reading, sometimes if I put it to sleep at night it is on when I get up in the morning.
Often, but not always, it wakes up when I pick up the phone to make a call. The system is connected (through an Apple USB modem) to a two-input phone jack, shared with my phone.
Sometimes when I put it to sleep the screen just dims and the system locks up, necessitating a hard power-off.
Sometimes when the system is asleep, I am unable to wake it, necessitating a hard power-off.
I plan on bringing it in to the Apple Store one of these days, but I'm curious if anyone else is having similar problems...

Réinstallation Photoshop CS3+CS4+CS5 & Lightroom 2 & 3

Mon ordinateur a rendu l'âme, les logiciels Photoshop & Lightroom ont été supprimés sans que les numéros de séries puissent être désinstallés. Je possède tous mes numéros de séries mais je soupçonne que je vais avoir de la difficulté à réinstaller tout ça, Adobe pourrait croire que je tente d'utiliser le même logiciel sur deux ordinateurs différents. Quelqu'un peut-il me dire ce qu'il faut faire pour réinstaller Photoshop CS3 avec les mises à jour CS4+CS5 + Ligthroom 2 & 3 sans trop de problème ?

AEBS disconnecting/dropping iMac connection issues, anyone else?

my intel iMac 20" keeps dropping the wireless connection to my Airport. I have my MacBook Pro right beside it and its a solid connection. I called Apple tech support today, but they are closed due to Holiday in Canada.
Anyone else having these issues with the new iMac's. So many problems lately, wireless, freezing etc.. I don't know what to do. I reformatted my iMac to see if that new update 1.1 was the issue, but it still disconnects.

Lacie external FW Issue, anyone else?

Just purchased a 160g external firewire Lacie "F A Porsche" dirve. The drive will not mount to any of my G4s (Dual 800 + PowerBook). Dual 800 10.4.8, Laptop 10.4.7.
I have verified the Lacie mounts properly to an iMac G5, a single processor Intel and a dual core Intel.
Lacie tech support suggested I try their D2. Anyone else had issues with this dirve, comments on the D2?

The topic of dead FW ports shows up from time to time on Macintouch and other forums. The very (VERY) short answer seems to be that although FW is SUPPOSED to hot swapable, you do so at your peril. FW ports on a variety of models seem to go dead sometimes and, as you have discovered, the only solution (other than a motherboard swap) is a PCI card.
I have a first generation AGP Sawtooth, have used the FW ports for years (but never to swap drives in and out) and my ports are still working.
I probably just guaranteed their failure...

Photoshop CS5 lag... anyone else?

After installing Photoshop CS5 extended on my Mac Pro 2.8ghz Quad, I've noticed a 5-10 second lag when opening or creating a new image. Basically what happens, is when creating or opening an image, Photoshop freezes for 5-10 seconds before being able to do anything, click on a tool, menu, etc.
Never had this problem with any previous version of Photoshop.
What is intereting too, is if I run a batch operation on a folder of images with CS5, there is no lag in opening the image, performing whatever task, and completing the batch.
Does anyone else have this problem, and/or have a solution?

New Kensington Pilotboard wireless desktop - numerous issues Anyone else??

I just got a G4 500 AGP and also picked up a new Kensington Pilot Board wireless desktop on sale at Compxxx and it has given me fits and was wondering if anyone else had similar issues??
Here is what I have going on :
1) Random keys not responding at all mostly towards right side of keyboard
2) MASSIVE system slowdown which seemed to go away after going back to a generic keyboard/mouse that are wired
3) Horrible lag when typing and I am not a fast typer by ANY standards
I put 2 new and fresh sets of batteries in both keyboard and mouse and re-synched about 10 times and restarted several times and un-installed and re-installed software as well with same problems persisting. Is this just a junk product or did I get a lemon??

Tim, welcome, I have the same keyboard and it work just fine. And yes, new batteries really make a huge difference. Try Repairing Permissions and see if that solves the issue. Also if the USB cable is plug into a PCI card move it to one of the computer outlets and try moving the censor to a new location.
The tracking speed of the mouse can be adjusted but this should not effect the OS performance at all.

Motion 3 Export Issues, Anyone Else?

I've run into two issues after the 3.0.1 udpate...
1. In the export dialog, when I click on the "Options..." button to tweak the export settings, nothing happens, I don't get the expanded dialog... this is happening on two of my machines.
2. Using the "Export using Compressor..." option from the File menu doesn't do anything... doesn't launch Compressor, nothing. And again, this is happening on two of my machines, one with a brand new hard drive, fresh system install and brand new FCPS2 install.
Anyone else have these issues?
I also openend a project I started in 3.0.0 and now the output has bizarre random lines with strange colorings all over it... talk about frustrating. The exact project rendered before the update renders perfectly fine.

I'm having the exact same problem right now. Exporting with compressor actually makes my system crash - before the upgrade everything was working perfectly. If I find anything out I'll be sure to post....

Photoshop CS3 & CS4 on Snow Leopard

I just bought the new 27 inch Imac. It has 4 gigs of ram, 3.06 Ghz intel core 2 Duo. I have both cs3 and cs4. I noticed right away that it is sluggish on this new computer, When you perform something like lighten or darken, it seems to take longer than on my old computer. It is a mac pro desktop, 2 Ghz with 6 gigs of ram. It works just fine so I am surprised that on the new imac which should be quicker, it is slower, also when I scroll or enlarge an image, the action on the screen is jerky, not smooth at all. I have talked to Apple about this and they don't seem to have an answer. Otherwise the computer works fine. It might be an Adobe problem, I have the latest updates for both photoshop versions. Anyone having similar problems?

CS4 Redraw Issues

I am noticing that Photoshop seems to not redraw or refresh sometimes... seems to happen after I get several edits in. I will unhide or hide a layer, nothing happens on the canvas... I zoom in, then the change appears.
I am running on a mac pro (dual quad core xenon) 8gb ram, geforce 8800.
And before you blast me, yes, I have done all the tips in the performance thread.
I thought this may be an openGL issue, but when I disable that, same problem.
Again, this seems to happen after I get about 10-20 edits in... and my history is only set to 50. and the file I am working on is only about 20 layers.
Why do I get the feeling Adobe is really dropping the ball on the mac side of things???

I get a lot of the same redraw bugs too.
Sometimes it won't show the front most document when switching between open files.
Sometimes I have to zoom in and out to see changes. Sometimes hitting 'tab' and flicking the tools on and off gets it to work. Sometimes I just quit and try again.
I can't find a pattern to it, just happens now and again. Really breaks my stride.
Interestingly we are running virtually the same system notably the 8800 (mine's 'GT', whatever that means).
After all the nonsense with the VM Buffering plugin, did it do any good?

Photoshop CS3: Color Picker Issue

Hello All,
I am having a bit of an issue with my Color Picker.
As you know, when you open up the Color Picker, it has the large square with the assortment of colors on the left and the details of the color on the right.
As of today, Photoshop won't let me use my cursor to click and select a color from within that large square. Nor can I scroll up and down the rainbow color strip on the side.
Is there a way to get those features back?

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.

You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.
