IMac 27" running OS 10.6.7 trying to install Win7 error message 0x80070017
Hi all,
For the last 10 hours I have been trying to install Win7 on my iMac 27". After finding the solution to the black screen issue and getting through to selecting which version of Win7 I'd like to install blah blah, it starts writing the files and then I get the error message 0x80070017. I have searched here for an answer but the only one I can find dates back to 2008 and has me baffled. Is there something I can do? I need this programme to run MS Publisher for my daughter's school projects, otherwise I'd take it back and feed it down some Microsofts (better stop here). Have been using Boot camp 3.0 to do the install.

Win7 Home Premium, full retail version purchased today (now yesterday). Black screen problem resolved by using a USB stick with a copy of the drivers folder and Autounattend.xml file from iMac_late_2009_2010_Win7_Drivers download. As per a discussion thread from this forum.
Followed Boot Camp to the letter, several times.
Windows disk damaged/dirty... no.
As for the complete error message there was more to it than the numbers, something about unable to complete, but to get it the exact wording will take another hour or so while I reinstall it again (for the 6th time).
Boot Camp partition size is 52Gig
From what I can gather the problem is more than likely not on the install disk but rather on my hard drive, a bad sector or such thing, as Windows is more able to detect disk errors; so I've read anyway. I am thinking of removing the partition and repairing permissions etc using disk utility and see what happens. I did have Disk Warrior for my old G4 but that programme doesn't work for later versions of OSX. Other than that I'm stumped.

I am running Windows 7 and have tried to install iCloud. No matter what instructions I follow, I still get the error message "This Apple ID is valed but is not an iCloud account." How can I resolved this?
I've tried both. First, I tried on my pc, where iTunes had installed iCloud when it last updated. I have iTunes installed on this computer (and on my iPad and iPhone), but that wasn't the issue.
So I went online, thinking I needed a separate iCloud Apple ID, but it prompted me for my current Apple ID and gave me the message about my ID being "valid" but not an iCloud account," which, lol, was what it had asked me to do in order to create one. Hi, I¹ve been through it again to ensure I¹ve not forgot things. Completely
removed Lightroom and all files I can find, etc and reloaded. Some tedious
result. Step 6 is too time consuming at the moment for me, too many things
on the go since I¹m about to go on holiday and on return I shall need
Lightroom on this iMac. Any clues? This iMac had Mavericks from new,
uploaded to Yosemite and then loaded Photoshop CC, Lightroom etc and get
this damned problem.
Reading around the web I¹m not the only one with this issue, to suggest a
new user a/c is a soft option without resolving the issue.
I hope an expert from Adobe can resolve this,

How long should I let Safe Mode startup run? I keep getting the "disk0s2 i/o error" message and I'm just not sure when to give up and try a different method. I already ran disk utility in Recovery Mode and it said there were no repairs needed but it still kept getting stuck on the apple loading screen.
You have limited opportunity to attempt to create a backup of your created files.
That is what the SafeBoot or safemode appears to allow you -- at the moment.
Since the hard disk drive exhibits signs of failure or other major issues, plan
on a replacement in the near future. You may be able to get the computer to
start up in a regular full OS X (not safe mode) but consider its hours are limited.
An externally enclosed hard disk drive (with own power supply, not relying on
Mac ports to run it) is a good basic means of which to use a disk utility to make
a copy or a Clone of the current OS X. This may help retrieve an archive that
could be used along with a Time Machine backup, to restore your Mac once you
get a new hard drive installed inside.

I cannot install latest itunes to my Sony notebook which is running on traditional chinese windows 7 64-bit, the error message is something like unrecognized windows package, can any one help me or has similar experience? Thanks.
iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"

I'm very new to JSF and hopefully this will be easy to answer. I'm trying to display an error message when a user fails to login correctly. I have this on my login page:

Juliej73472629 what are you trying to install when you receive that error? I would recommend reviewing the installation log for the applicable update. The windows installation went very well, except wen I starte to use the Boot Camp CD for the drivers and then I have this error "Boot Camp x64 is unsupporteded..." So I had to instal everything in the CD one by one and went quite well. The only thing that I can not install is the Boot Camp itself! So I do not have any windows control over the Boot Camp. How can I solve this issue?

It appears all the time already from the beginning after installing Firefox 4.Thanks a lot. The Ask toolbar created this problem. Another problem is: When searching on the web via Google, normally it is possible to type a few letters and then look what appears and then click on the wanted word(s). A number of word(s) ineed do appear, however it is not possible to select any of them as ws possible as mentioned in olders versions.

did you purchase your product from these firms like Amazon? If yes, this is not a serial number, only a code with which you can request a serial number from Adobe. Please have a look at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html. (Start here: How did you purchase your product?)
The following part, so I just see at least, ceased to exist on my Adobe website, everything takes place in the link from above. I leave it as an info yet, it might still fit for you. For this purpose, please click your way through to your Adobe Store and find the button "Get Serial Number". Fill in the form and after a while you will get the real serial number.

My IMac is so slow after having to do a hard restart. I have BitDefender 2011 for Mac and it was running a scan when I tried logging into my online banking. At the same time, I accidentally hit "update" on the Bitdefender icon to update the latest virus and malware definitions. Now my iMac is slow and useless. I have iOS5 and the latest Snow Leopard. Help please!

A 2009 iMac cannot be an iMac 4,1; they are 9,1 and higher. Did you mean to type "2006?" That would be an iMac 4,1. We need to pin down the model issue before proceeding.
It could be the drive, not the disk, that is dirty. Try a drive cleaning disk, usually about US$5-15 at home entertainment, electronics stores and office superstores
