IMac 27 slow start and KPs

Hi friends,
I've got a 27 inches iMac from January 2010. In last month i'm experiencing very slow starts in first white screen. The start takes about 2 or 3 minutes.
Then, in desktop, all is OK. I work very good with all programs and games. I'm not experiencing any problem with videocard, memory, hard-disk, or somthing.
Two or three times I try to Shut down the iMac, OSX put a screen making me to shut down holding down the bottom to start/stop for a few seconds and restarting the system. Then, the iMac show me this KP:

Things I've done:
- Try to repair users and disk permissions with Onyx.
- Try to unplug all USB devices plugged in back USB (ex. AverTV or Printer)
- I've updated the OSX to 10.6.7
Things I suspect:
- In desktop the mouse or keyboard doesn't work until I press some buttons. (Maybe Bluetooth problem?)
- Two months ago I've got a problem with Espionage Software, making some folders invisibles with encryptation, deleting the app, reinstalling and some folders encryped maybe causing problems?
- I can't restart with 'D' pressed for a Hardware Test (Maybe same Bluetooth problem?)
- Maybe I may to move the RAM between sockets?
Could someone guide me for what can I do?
Thanks!

Most likely, com.avermedia.driver.A815(1.1.10)@0x5f83d000->0x5f85dfff is the culprit. Additionally, these also have to be looked into:

  • Slow start and page load on 10.8.5?

I recently upgraded to 10.8.5 from 10.6.8. It now takes several tries to get the system to start, and page loading on the net seems slower. Is this normal?

    No.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Then re-install the OS.

  • Imac slow starting

My iMac 27" become slower when starting. Please tell me how to improve.
    Thanks

Firstly, how much slower are you talking about? A few seconds; a few minutes? Arduously long?
Next, you should realize that for Mavericks to work at its best, it loads as much into the memory cache before you get up and running so that when you are operating your applications you are that much more efficient. Also, if you are using the restore from previous state features, that will take longer than just starting up clean with no applications launching.
If something more than that seems to be happening, you should give many more details for others to be able to help you troubleshoot.

  • IMac - Slow load and wifi problems

I have lion installed on my macbook pro and on my iMac. My macbook pro works GREAT...no problems. My iMac - I am ready to toss out a window. Here are the problems:
INCREDIBLY slow boot up time - 5-10 minutes from off - 5-8 minutes from sleep
The hard drive is constantly working. I can have nothing open and it sounds like the hard drive is constantly spinning
Half the time my wifi hardware is not found on boot up and I have to reboot with slow load times - sometimes taking 20 minutes before I can get logged in to a 'working' computer
A lot of my programs have become slow. Safari can be slow responsive but others that are not apple that have done 'lion updates'
I have my activity monitor running and nothing seems to be hogging resources. My iMac specs are:
    2.8 intel core i5
    12 gb ram
2 TB hard drive with about 1tb free
I ran the lion update that came out and it did not seem to do much for me.
Anyone have a solution? Anyone tried a clean format and did this work? Lion works great on my laptop and I just need it to work on my main computer as well.
    Reba

i think part of the boot up time issue is the amount of windows you happen to have open when you put it to sleep
other is lion upgrade slows it down due to this auto save function
my wifi is also spotty and acts like it can't find itself at times
and this is a brand new imac

  • Slow start and Mac

    Hello everyone,
I own a white macbook from 2009. I upgraded lately to Yosemite and my Mac spend a lot of time to start (the "loading" bar spends a lot of time charging).
Then, when I am using the computer, all seems to go very slowly, even if I just open one or two apps.
Maybe is because I don't have a lot of space on the HDD or some unuseful apps or startup programs.
I can paste here the EtreCheck log if needed.
    Thank you all!

    Hi,
I think I have a similar problem. It is highly likely that it is the com.apple.Webkit.Webcontent bundle that is causing quite a bite of trouble.
Here is my Etre report. Hopefully both of our problems will be resolved soon. I suspect avg time between your pinwheel freezes is around 2 - 5 mins? Also it began after you upgraded to latest OS X as in 10.10.3?
    Problem description:

  • X79A GD45 Slow start and slow boot into windows with SSD

Im having some major issues with my X79A GD45 board, When I start the system it takes about 30 seconds sometimes more for something to appear on the screen and from cold boot it starts stops and then starts again before loading.
Once its loaded it is taking forever to get into windows Im running 2 6gb/s SSD's in raid and the windows logo is able to appear and flash 3 or 4 times before I even get into windows.
Ive tried it with just a single drive and re installations of windows but get exacly the same thing its driving me mad as Ive spent so much money on this machine. Details of my system are below:
    MSI X79A GD45 v1.0 Bios 1.6
    Intel I7 3820
    Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1600 Cl9
    2 x GTX 680 in SLi
Creative Soundblaster 3D Recon Fatality Sound Card
    2 x Sandisk Extreme 240gb in Raid 0
    Silvertone Strider 850w PSU
    LG Bluray Writer

Updated the SSD Firmwares and it made no difference. Ive already tried single drives and the same. The drives are installed into SATA 1 and SATA2 ports the 6gb/s ones. The hang time is atleast 20 seconds at the splash screen alone before loading into windows. I checked the event log for booting and this is what it showed:

  • Macbook pro slow start after upgrading to mountain lion

I have a macbook pro core 2 due originally runing Mac os x 10.6. I upgraded to mac os x 10.8.1 now and realized that the computer becomes slow start and shut down. Scanned with OnlyX and followed the instruction by restarting with hold down option-command-P and R, showed no help.
How could I solve the problem?
    Thanks.

Remove items from System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
And  HD > Library > StartupItems
    Then restart your Mac.

Could be over-heating. Try cleaning out the air vents.

  • My iMac 8.1 was slowing down and had permissions problems. I backed everything up, and then re-installed. Now all I get is a black screen. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: HDD-1336. Help!

My iMac 8.1 (10.6.8 ) was slowing down and had recurrent permissions problems, mostly with Java. I backed everything up, and then re-installed from time machine. Now all I get is a black screen which says I need to reboot. Power+D gives me a hardware error message: 4 MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1336 or HDD-1327. When I reboot from the OSX CD and start disc utilities everything checks out OK. When I reload 10.5.2 from the OSX CD everything seems to work OK and no more permissions problems. But then I loose all my email and safari stuff. Anyone have any ideas short of going back to my old PC?

    Hi
Thanks for the help. No point in fooling around with it any more. Will I be able to use it as a monitor if I get a mimi mac?
    Cheers. Don
No unfortunatley it's too old, you are referring to Target Display Mode which became avialble in 2009, your 2008 needs to have the HD replaced. I'd still do that if everything else is OK or you can simply buy a new MM and display or even a new iMac  or an Apple refurbished iMac to save money.

  • How to correct or fix slow imac on start up or when switching user.  Blue Screen will stay on for 3-5 minutes.

How do I fix a slow imac on start up and when switching user?  The blue screen will stay on for 3-5 minutes.
    Thanks

How much free space do you have on your hard disk? And have you ever performed a backup & clean install after an OS X upgrade?

  • Slow iMac on start up etrecheck finds problems

After 5 yrs of use my 2009 iMac hard drive crashed. Repaired by an Apple Approved Repair Centre (1TB WD HD) only one month ago.
I am already suffering slow start up on Safari.
Found EtreCheck Software through Apple Forums and it found some malware, which I got rid of by the recommended download of Adware medic.
However, on start up this morning it was slow on start up of Safari again, and a run of EtreCheck showed that it had killed several start up files under Start Up Items, Problem System Launch Agents and Problem System Launch Daemons!
What are these things and what is happening to my computer.
If I cannot resolve obviously I will have to take it back to KRCS in Derby
    Thank you inanticipation

  • Slow start up and printer connection

Hi, I have a iMac 10.6.8 which froze up a few weeks ago, so I had to turn the whole thing off without shutting down.  Ever since that happened, it is really slow starting up and really slow sending information to the printer.  It is connected with the normal printer cable and has always been very quick before the computer froze up.  Now it takes 2-3 minutes of the rainbow spinning circle to get anything to print, even just a simple word document!  Any clues on what may have happened and how to fix it?
    Thanks.

First backup immediately, it is possible you have a damaged or failing HD. Run Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode and if  it reports errors either Google them or post them. If the disk suffered some minor damaged it may be able to be repaired using Disk Utility however you will need to run DU from the original OS X Install Discs that came with the computer, a Snow Leopard upgrade DVD or if you use a Bootable Clone as a Backup you can boot from it and run DU from the Clone.

  • Very slow starting iMac

iMac G5 iSight (bought Nov '05), 2.1Ghz, 1.5Gb ram, 500Gb hard drive (378.83 available), nothing connected to it except keyboard and mouse (which is connected to the keyboard). Start up items: PSPWareHelper, Microsoft Database, Aspyer Game Agent Helper, iCalAlarmScheduler, iTunesHelper (I have now removed the first three).
The problem seems to be when starting up after being off overnight. The wife called me Monday lunchtime to say she had started the iMac up only to get the grey screen with the Apple logo (no little circle going round below it) and that's all she got, after a couple of minutes she tried turning it off by holding the power button for a few seconds but it wouldn't respond so she switched it off at the wall, left it a couple of minutes and then tried again, this time it started up but it took about 7 minutes before all was working OK. She then shut down as you normally would and then turned it on again and it was up and running in what we would consider a normal time scale (about a minute and a half).
The same thing happened yesterday (long start up followed by a normal start up, no sticking on the grey screen this time). I decided to start it up myself this morning to see for myself and I got the seven minute start up which just seemed to be a very slow motion version of the normal start up, once you do get the normal desktop the first thing to appear is the dock followed by the top left hand information (blue apple and finder 'tabs') then after about two minutes the hard drive icon appears followed quickly by the top right hand information. For the next few minutes everything I clicked on (email, blue apple to access the System Preferences) was followed by the spinning beach ball.
When the wife first told me about the problem I ran disk utility and repaired permissions and MacJanitor (all tasks) but neither has made any difference. My next stop is to install TechTool Deluxe that came with my AppleCare (does anyone else use this programme? is it any good) and I have just read in the latest Mac User about FSCK but I'm not sure I have the confidence at this stage.
I must say that once the iMac is up and running everything works normally.
The most recent programme I have installed is Transmit (off of the MacFormat cover disc) but that has been installed for about a week before the problem started.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Does anyone have any ideas what I should be looking into.
    Andy

"My next stop is to install TechTool Deluxe that came with my AppleCare (does anyone else use this programme? is it any good)"
Yes. However, the disc that came w/AppleCare is not compatible w/your model G5 iMac. You will need to contact AppleCare. They will refer you to a link for you to download & burn v.3.0.4
See Knowledge Base Article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301353 Mac OS X 10.4: Don't use Tech Tool Deluxe 3.0.3's Volume Structure repair
Because I notified them of the problem back when I purchased my computer last November, AC made arraingements w/Micromat & sent me TTPro for free.
Regarding fsck, see the following article:

    =====================
    Now regarding your other problem(s):
Sounds like you basically did a lot of troubleshooting. Have you tried running Disk Utility from the DVD?
Do you have any other 3rd party disc utilities besides TTD? If not, you may want to purchase Techtool Pro. If you do, you will be able to purchase at a DEEP DISCOUNT because you already own Deluxe.
    Another "forum" favorite is DiskWarrior.
You may have tried some of the following. However, there may have been some suggestions you could have overlooked:
