Imac and Photoshop CS

I can get a great deal on a Imac 400mhz from a friend if I want it. Would this mac with 1gb of ram perform very well while running photoshop cs? I don't do a lot of heavy photoshop work, mostly resizing and color correction.Anyone have any experience with running photoshop on an older machine like this?
Ibook G3 300mhz Mac OS X (10.2.x)

I use photoshop on mine, (450 w/ 256MB) & all i do is get rid of face blemishes or whateever and stuff for people, nothing hardcore. It should be fine.

  • Base Retina iMac and Photoshop CC 2014

I just picked up the base model iMac and am not very happy with the way Photoshop runs on it. For example, when using any of the blur filters I get a status clock with the percentage running along. This happens every time I move the center point. When browsing the filter gallery, it draws in in chunks. When using NIK filters, it again, comes in in chunks. Is this a PS issue, or is the iMac not-so-ready for primetime?

  • 3D issues with 2007 iMac and Photoshop CS6

    Hi,
Prior to the 13.1 Cloud member update, the 3D engine worked on my 2007 iMac with a 128VRAM video card. With the upgrade it no longer works. Is there a way to return to the pre-update state? From internet searches I performed, the card is soldered to the motherboard, and not easily upgradeable. I know I'm not the only Photoshop user who has this issue. Illustrator's 3D engine still works. Seems like the one for Photoshop should as well. Thanks for your consideration.

Follow up: I was able to re-install the earlier version of Photoshop CS 6 on my computer.

  • Imac and photoshop elements

I just bought an iMac 3.06 ghz with the intel core i3 processor. I thought I would be able to try out Adobe Photoshop elements but their web site says it requries a mutlcore processor. Does anyone know if it would work on my computer? I would like to try it out but was not sure if it would run on this computer?
    Thanks
    Dave

Description of the i3 Processor from Intel's site: The Intel® Core™ i3 processor provides the basis for an affordable PC. This dual-core processor with 4-way multitasking capability has built-in performance headroom for software upgrades, providing an excellent return on investment.

  • Intel iMac and PHotoshop Elements 4 compatability

Can anyone tell me if Photshop Elements 4 will run on the new i-Mac with Intel Processor? I'd like to know before I buy it. The sales people say Yes, but does anyone have experience with it yet?

I have experience with Photoshop from CS2.
Until PE is a Universal binary it will run with Rosetta, the emulation software in OS X that translates PPC code to Intel code on the fly. The software should run fine. It may take longer to start, but then it should run as fast or faster then on a PPC Mac. Rosetta and PPC apps use more memory so you should quit any apps you aren't using until you get Ub updates for any PPC apps you are running.

Unfortunately, adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 available for download, as far as i know, so your best bet is to either get an usb dvd drive or use an computer with a dvd drive and copy the contents of the pse 6 dvd to somethiing like
a flash drive and then copy the contents from that drive to your new computer.
Do you still have your older mac and it has a dvd drive?
You can share files between the two using airdrop or an ethernet cable.

I have a new iMac and would like to buy a cheap legal version of Photoshop to create a simple flyer.  If I look on ebay or similar, what version do I require?
I understand that Photoshop 5 is not compatible?
I used to use CS5 at work which was very good, doing a little reserach it appears as if this suite has been replaced by a monthly 'cloud' charge which for me as a basic home user is unnecessary.
    Appreciate any help.

    Hello Simonlala;
Anyone that buys an iMac should not have to buy "cheap".  it's like putting "retread tires" on a brand new Farrari! Ugh!
To find a cheap version of PS is to locate an obsolete version only?  Software surplus business may have some or check the obituary columns to see if any Photographers or Gaphic Designers have left some things behind?
Some options...enroll in a community college Multimedia class and you will not only have access to Photoshop, you'll have access to much more software for the price of the course.  It will also qualify you as a student and you can get a discounted rate on the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription as well.
If you are only making "simple flyers" would not MS Word or OpenOffice software do the job for you?  There are applications for that purpose and Photoshop is not the only way to skin this cat!  Or you can always buy a box of Crayola's and make a pamphlet that way?
And as a bonus, you may learn something from the course you enroll in.
I am a student and subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud...it's reasonable for my purposes for now.

Yes you can. In iPhoto create a Album with the photos you want in it. You can drag them from your Events folder. In iTunes with your iPad connected go to Photos by cliking on your iPad. You can then select the album or events you want.

If you do not have it on disc, then download it, install it, and activate it with your serial numnber.  If you need to download it, if you purchased it online thru Adobe look for a link in your Adobe account online.  You can also download the trial version and activate it with your serial number...

I have the same question. It seems that Adobe is almost impossible to contact (I ended up here at the forums to ask the same question).
I will never buy another Adobe product again if I can get another program to replace it. If this is customer service then it is NON EXISTENT!
I notice that your question has not been answered and why should you have to get the information from a forum? I know of no other company that makes you do this for simple product information.
NOT HAPPY with this version of arrogant customer service (nor am I happy about renting Photoshop products into the future - it is just a money grab in my opinion). I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere in future.

I bought a new iMac and want to install my copy of CS3 on it. Currently, I have photoshop only loaded on an older G4. After installing the discs I tried to enter the serial number and an alert said the serial was already used. I did have CS3 loaded on a 2007 imac but after the harddrive died it is no longer installed. Can you help?

  • Problems with Imac 27" and Photoshop CS3 on Windows 7

Hi I have an Imac 27" running Windows 7 and Photoshop runs poorly and crashes quite often, has anyone else had this problem?
    My Imac spec is :
      Model Name:          iMac
      Model Identifier:          iMac11,3
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i5
      Processor Speed:          2.8 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          8 MB
      Memory:          4 GB
    Thanks
    Paul

While I don't have a newer iMac, run Windows or use PhotoShop... but I'd say that you need more than the stock 4GB of RAM to get fully up to speed.

I suggest adding 2 x 4GB modules to the existing 2 x 2GB modules and bring it up to 12GB, cause if you only upgrade to 8GB by adding  2 x 2GB and 8GB is not enough or you want more later, then that upgrade is a waste.
