IMac as Bluetooth for iPhone

Hi all. I was wondering if you can connect your iMac to your iPhone via bluetooth. Basically when a call comes in I can answer on iMac and speak through my desktop or could dial someone and talk through desktop. is this possible?
thanks

Such a beast does exist but unfortunately it's not free. I checked long and hard but found only one good implementation. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16070/bluephoneelite. I tried it and it works as advertised but it still a bit rough around the edges for my liking. I'll wait a while longer and see what else comes out. Maybe a new version of BluePhoneElite will convince.

  • Stereo Bluetooth for Iphone

Do anybody know if Apple is working on coming up with Stereo Bluetooth for Iphone?

Here is how I am able to listen to audio thru my bluetooth earpiece from my iPhone's iPod content including video. It works with Apple's bluetooth and Motorola's H5 bluetooth. It's only one ear hence mono sound I believe. I don't have a stereo bluetooth headset to listen to to hear otherwise.
First make sure the bluetooth is paired and active. Touch phone from home screen< then touch voice mail < then in the upper right hand corner touch audio < your bluetooth device should be visible < touch it.
Now you should be able to listen to your iPod thru your headset. The only drawback is that the audio is also going thru the iPhone speaker too.
It works on my iPhone running latest update. Good luck.

What are you trying to ask?  Your question makes no sense.

  • What to do when trying to connect iPhone and iMac with bluetooth but iPhone says that iMac is 'not supported'?

I'm having trouble connecting my iPhone to my iMac via bluetooth. Both devices discover each other and add to each others list but when I go to connect my iPhone tells me that the iMac is 'not supported' and to 'forget device' deleting it from my device list.
Any help would be greatly appriciated!

  • IMac as a bluetooth for iPhone

How can I use my mac as a bluetooth device for my iPhone? Specifically, can I have a call display on my mac when someone is calling my iPhone?

The links you provided involve hacking the iPhone, which is against Apple's license agreement for the iPhone, is not supported by Apple directly or indirectly via these discussions, voids the warranty if discovered with a warranty claim, and last but not least removes all the built-in security included with iOS.

  • Bluetooth for iPhone 6 still won't pair with my car after iOS 8.1 update

So frustrated. I assumed that Apple knew about the problem and that iOS 8.1 would fix what is clearly a very common/widespread issue. Bluetooth is not exactly a new technology... how is it that Apple creates a highly advanced phone, but it can't make a 10-15 years-old technology work?
I never had any issues with my 5S, but my iPhone 6 has not been able to pair with the Bluetooth in my 2011 Mini Cooper since the day I got it (no phone or BT audio). The 8.1 update has had zero effect on the sequence of events that occur when I try to pair my phone. The car has no problem recognizing the phone, and I can see the car listed under Bluetooth devices, and when I select the car from the list of devices on the phone, the screen to enter the pairing code comes up on my car display. The problem is that the phone never gives me the code to enter into the car display.
I have tried all the "tricks" people have used to get their BT to work (deleting all phones from car, resetting all phone settings, renaming the phone, etc). Nothing works for me. I really don't want to have to get rid of my 6, but since Apple has never publicly acknowledged the problem, I have no way of knowing if this is ever going to be fixed.
Really disappointed in you Apple. This is my 3rd iPhone, and you're about to lose a loyal customer if you don't get this sorted out very soon.

The same problem here.  iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1.2 and bmw 328i 2013 with latest Bluetooth update doesn't pair. The phone will see the car in bluetooh settings but fails to connect.  Based on apple tech support I did the following:
    1. powered thr phone down and back on- no help
    2. Removed all other phones from iDrive- no help
    3. Tried with wi if off - no help
    4. Reset network settings- no help
    5. Restored my phone entirely to factory settings- no help
The phone can pair to other Bluetooth devices and the car can pair with iphone 4 running iOS 7 no problem. my wife's iphone 6 won't pair with my car either.
I sure hope apple is still working to correct this!

  • BEST BLUETOOTH FOR iPHONE?

I was considering using my rebate for an "Apple" bluetooth but after reading many reviews I've decided not to. Could anyone recommend, the BEST one out there that works with the iPhone. I am now considering the Motorola HS850, I'm looking for something small, with range, and all the good stuff you look for in a bluetooth. I purchased a Jawbone and didn't like the fact that it was so bulky looking and it didn't fit right on my ear even after changing earbuds and earloops, but I didn't lose out my husband liked it so I gave it to him.

I have the Apple Bluetooth. Works great for me since day one. Some complaints out there though it may be like the iPhone and just be certain ones are glitched. Pretty cool to have a travel charger that keeps the iPhone and headset together.. and a dock as well that does the same.

  • Which is the best stereo bluetooth for iPhone 4 on the lines of Sony Ericsson MW600?

Can anyone who has had 1st hand experience with stereo bluetooth that they have used.. come forward with their reviews on them..?  I had a Sony Ericsson MW600 which i have now misplaced... overall they do their job pretty well.. you can use the play, forward and rewind buttons.. and yes of course pick up calls to.. it has multipoint allowing you to connect upto 3 devices at once, although you cannot use all the devices at once, you need to change your device from the bluetooth inbult led menu which can get frustrating at times... but its an option nonetheless.. Also it has radio, which your iPhone does not have.. not that i use it anyways but an added feature for radio enthusiast.. They have a great battery Life too and also you can put in your own in ear headphones which i really apprecaite.. The only downside of these bluetooth are that.. they are not as loud as i would like them to be... but opinions can differ in that area...  So thats my reveiw on the Sony Ericsson MW 600.. Now can anyone suggest me something similar to buy? preferebally a bluetooth which can support other in ear headphones and are nice and loud..

There isn't any - iPhone simply don't work proberly with a bluetooth headset.

  • How to connect my iPhone to my iMac trough bluetooth?

How to connect my iPhone to my iMac trough bluetooth?

If you have a wifi router you can set up/turn on the wifi... set the user name and password wifi in your router... open wifi in general settings on the iPhone... log into your router, user name and password. (If your don't know how to turn on the router wifi. Google the router make and model and you will find instructions on how to do this.)
If you don't have a wifi router and your Mac has wifi capabilities you can hookup to the internet over wifi from your Mac to your iPhone.
System Preferences on the Mac... Network... Wifi... Advanced tab... Hit the '+' to add a user name and password...
Make sure you use WPA2 Personal for Security... Hit ok... Turn on the wifi... Same as above with the iPhone, log into your wifi settings on the iPhone.
*Important point... Use WPA2 for the encryption/Security setting. If you use anything else for this setting, your wifi can be hacked.

  • Connecting iphone 3gs to imac using bluetooth

How can i connect my iphone 3gs to imac using bluetooth. On the mac it displays that my iphone does not have the "necessary services". On the iphone it just has the loading circling and not even recognizing a device. Plz Help.

For what purpose are you trying to connect the two?
The only thing you can connect a Mac to an iOS device for is Internet Tethering (Personal Hotspot) - nothing else.

  • Just talked to Apple about bluetooth connecting iPhone to iMac, blocked by

Apple and AT&T have blocked the possibility of connecting our iPhones to Our iMacs or any other Mac, because I guess there are things we would be able to do with them that would cut into their company merchandise. I don't know what they are because I don't think like that but The Apple tech support guy said something about iTunes merchandise being shared. So that *****.

You can connect an iPhone to a Mac via Bluetooth for Internet Tethering, but not for file transfers.
It's nothing to do with AT&T as the same restriction is in place throughout the rest of the world where AT&T isn't used.
Apple have never stated why the iPhone does not have Bluetooth File Transfer capability, but my guess is that it is to prevent easy sharing of copyrighted music and videos. Apple's sells this content for the music and movie companies and no doubt has to put restrictions in place to prevent easy copying.

  • I cannot sync my iphone 4 to my imac it connects for a few seconds then goes off

please can someone help me   When i connect my iphone 4 to my imac using bluetooth it pairs up but only lasts for a few seconds then goes off and shows
not connected  i have tried all sorts of ways  but  without success  why is this happening am i the only one  does anyone know the answer please

Seems like my problem - I have a new iPhone 4 and it does not want to pair with any device. It seems to connect, and is recognised by my MacBook pro, it shows the code that my Macbook shows, but then says it cannot connect. Neither did it connect to another imac, nor does it connect to my carphone. Have received a replacement (as I had bought the iPhone five days ago), have a new one now, but exactly the same problem. But I cannot alter the bluetooth settings on my iPhone, and restoring does nothing, nor leaving it in the completely unaltered setting, nor switching off all other wireless devices. Does anybody know how to solve this?

  • Why won't my iPhone connect to my iMac via Bluetooth?

I tried connecting my iPhone 6 Plus to my iMac via Bluetooth. Both have latest software.
When I try to pair with the phone using my Mac it does connect after I accept it on the phone but only after 5 seconds it disconnects.
When I retry connection from either of the devices some error messages are displayed -
The iPhone says - "XYZ's iMac is not supported".
The Mac says - "Make sure network access is enabled".
I wished to use handoff but am unable to. Please help me with this.

There is no iOS/OS X supported Bluteooth pairing profile between the iPhone and Mac other than Hotspot tethering. You cannot BT pair these devices with that one exception.
See here for supported BT profiles: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support

  • How do you get iPhone 5 to connect to iMac through bluetooth?

How do you get iPhone 5 to connect to iMac through bluetooth?
I know the basic steps, but all I get is pairing unsuccessful. I'm using an older bluetooth, would that make a difference? I got connected once with a Motorola bluetooth, but can't reconnect. TIA!

Try the Bluetooth Troubleshooting steps here:

Note that you need to have Personal Hotspot set up with your carrier and on your iPhone before you can connect the computer.
