IMac Built in Video?

When I set up my new iMac one of the things that happened was that the iMac built in camera took a foto and used that in the set up.
Is that built in camera also not for being able to connect, for example, with my children and then we can have video of each other while we are speaking/typing?
Where do I get info on how to do all this?

Thanks, that's a good start, and I'll try it. Do I have to communicate with a Mac OS or can I also communicate with someone using a PC with video installed?

I would like to do a self-interview for use in a movie project. Can I capture video of myself using my iMac built-in camera? Is there an app somewhere that allows me to do this?

Use Photo Booth - and select the "film clip" icon at the lower left of the window.

Is there any reason photos in an album page created in iweb display small on the iPad, but normally on an iMac? And videos on a movies page don't play on the iPad, but are OK on the iMac?

there are three displays in photos page:
    1) thumbnails grid - smallest
    2) deatial view and detail view slideshow - large
    3a) pop-up slideshow - vary - this is slideshow.html
    3b) or iphone/ipad slideshow phoneshow.html - iphone/ipad can't do pop-up
it's difficult to know which you refer to.
if you refer to pop-up slideshow then you should not look into iwebmediagrid.js as wyodor suggested.
instead look in phoneshow.html and change width and heigth of element id slideshow:
    #slideshow {
    position: relative;
width: 320px; /* this is default width */
height: 360px; /* this is default height */
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    overflow: hidden;

  • IPad to AppleTV sound only - built in Video App

I used to be able to airplay from my ipad to my appletv but now only sound plays, no video. I have made sure my iPad and AppleTV (latest version) are all running up to date software.
I am trying to play via the built in Video app on the iPad , not a third party app.
    This used to work.
How can I get it working again.  I've also tried restarting the Apple TV and the iPad multiple times - didn't help

My router is an Airport Extreme. It's a Walking Dead Episode I bought on iTunes.
I worked at Apple in Core OS doing Mac OS X kernel development for 21 years so I know something about Apple products.  This is some kind of bug and not ''user error''
I can occasionally get it to play a video by constantly trying over and over again and also restarting my ipad and appletv - there is no rhyme or reason as to when it will actually play and episode. And then the next time I try it will just do the sound again.
This did not used to happen - probably 2-3 months ago it would play 100% of the time
    Really annoying.

  • Macbook Pro struggling - Adding iMac for Photo/Video.  Advice?

Hey everyone!  I'm new around these parts.
Anyhow, I've been working as a photographer for some years now, and am just starting to dabble into film-making as well.  In the past, I've used 6, then 12MP cameras.  RAW files were roughly 25MB.  Nothing too hard to deal with.  Now, I have a Nikon D800.  The RAW files from this beast are reaching 80MB.  It's shooting uncompressed 4:2:2 1080p video.  All of this computes to REALLY slow editing, and lots of lag.  Especially with video.
I've really worked my 15" Macbook Pro to death, and I would like to add an iMac for my video and photo editing needs.  Here are the current specs of my macbook:
    2.0GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
    500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400
    8x Double-Layer SuperDrive
Here are the programs I frequent:
    Adobe Photoshop CS5.5
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5
    Adobe Audition CS5.5
    Adobe After Effects CS5.5
    Adobe Bridge CS5.5
    Word 2007
    Powerpoint 2007
Premiere and After Effects, as well as Audition at time, are generally open at the same time to take advantage of the dynamic link.  So, my Macbook is seriously having trouble keeping up.  It's taking me upwards of 45 seconds to render 30 frames of a single layer of video.  That's just no good when you're working with a longer production.  Rendering files has become something I have to do while I busy myself someplace else waiting for it to finish.  It's become a serious issue.
So, knowing all that, what specs would you recommend for an iMac?  A Mac Pro just isn't an option, financially, at this time.  If you need to know any more information, I'd be happy to oblige.
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Mark

    There's a difference of $20 between this 21":
    2.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    1TB Serial ATA Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB GDDR5
    Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (English) & User's Guide
    Apple Remote
    And this 27":
    2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    1TB Serial ATA Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB GDDR5
    Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad (English) & User's Guide
    Apple Remote
So, not too much difference.  Would you say the extra 0.1GHz will make enough difference to choose the 21" over the 27"?  Sorry, I don't know much about terminology and specifics.  That's why I come to you.  I just know that the extra 6" will really come in handy for both my photo and video work.

  • IMac G3 no video playback

    hey all
i have a old iMac G3 500 MHz PowerPC with 1GB Ram running Tiger 10.4.11 and it wont play video correctly, its just pauses and then jumps around a bit, the audio works fine, i have tried
    youtube
    .mov
    .m4v
    .avi
    all have same effect
VLC comes up saying something about frame rate dropping
anyone got ideas? i know its old but come on it must be able to do video?

how about video files on the computer...
Some of the same stuff is afoot. Depends on the source of the video and the codecs used. I have some QT videos on an old G3/500 Minitower that are contemporary with the computer. They were shot and post-processed on older Mac hardware and doftware and work great. However, if I download something newer that was shot and post-processed on newer equipment and software, the G3 chokes.
BTW, that old G3/500 has any G3 iMac beat on video hardware--a 128MB VRAM PCI video card optimized for OSX that is the hottest card that model takes--and modern video is still a drag.

  • IMAC 24 Inch Video Question

Does the Imac 24 inch video card have
    floating point texture support.

    Hi Russell,
According to various internet sites, the chipsets in two cards available for the 24 inch iMac, the Geforce 7300 GT and Geforce 7600 GT, both support "floating point texture". I can't find any specific references to the implementation in the Apple 24 inch iMac Intel, but I would doubt it is delibrately removed.
So, what good that actually does you is anyone's guess, but yes, it seems to be in there.

  • How does the iMac handle HD video editing?

Tired of Window PCs, looking to buy an Apple System. I would like to do some video editing but want to make sure I get a powerful enough system from the start. How does the iMac handle HD video editing or should I look a better, faster computer?

I have a mid 2011 iMac, 21 inch 4 GB RAM (the next to bottom iMac), Lion. I run Final Cut Express 4 with no difficulty (at least so far). It is certainly fast enough. My old G5, 7 years old, was also, and the iMac is faster.
As I remember, I heard from someone on the Final Cut Express Discussions that some people might be having difficulty with FCE 4 on Lion, but I am a bit hazy. Its bigger brother, Final Cut Pro, is also available. I suggest that you post on the Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro Discussion sites. They have many reliable users.

  • How can I get my iMac to show videos, such as those on YouTube, again?

How can I get my iMac to show videos, such as those on YouTubes, email, AOL, and others, again.

OK. What happens when you try?
Have you updated your Flash to the latest video? Worth trying again, just in case you haven't.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Click Install Now, download, and run the installer from your Downloads folder. Make sure you install it all the way (it'll ask you to quit Safari). Then re-launch Safari and try the video sites again. If that doesn't work, download and run Firefox, and try there - let us know if one browser works and one doesn't.

  • Built Flash Video and will NOT show in Hosted Environment

Built Flash Video and will NOT show in Hosted Environment.
The files generated work on development machine. I posted the same
files in hosted environment and flash will not show. I first
thought it was Vista 64 IE 7 so I switched to XP IE7 and same
results. Still it is strange the falsh works locally. I am sure it
is something simple that I am missing. Any help would be
    appreciated. Thank you.

Nickels55, I appreciate the response. Here are the
interesting facts. I had my hosting provider apply the mime type
and restart IIS. No flash video. I have Vista x64 Ultimate with I
think IIS 7 (the default IIS that comes with the OS.) The flash
video would not show in that environment until I applied the MIME
and then it WORKED. Yeah! But I still don’t have it working
on my web hosting provider with server Win2003. I thought it was
the hosting provider but I posted on my work server Win 2003 and
changed the MIME with a reset and could not get the video to work
    there either.
I would like to try another angle here. Again I am using the
wizard to encode and publish the flash video. Maybe I don’t
have a settings correct. I can approach this a few ways.
1.) I can send my video to someone to post on their Win2003
server and see if they can get it going.
2.) Someone send me a short 3 second video that they produced
that they know it works on Win2003.
3.) Any other ideas? Surely someone in this universe has used
the flash wizard to encode a video and published to a Win2003
    server. :)
I guess the other thing to note is when creating the flash
video I chose no controls (play, stop, pause). I want the video to
start when someone accesses the page for the first time.
Thank you for the help everyone.

  • HP 6300 using the built in video card and a quad card to support 6 monitors.

I am try to configure a HP 6300 Micro Tower to support 6 monitors. I have installed a NVIDIA NVS510 card and installed it but not the built in video card is disabled how do I enable both cards to work at the same time?
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for the Pro 6300.
    http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c03612810/c03612810.pdf
Please take a look at chapter 3, page 23.
There is a bios setting to enable/disable the onboard video.
Integrated Video (enable/disable). Use this option to disable the integrated video controller
when another video controller is present in the system. Default is enabled.
My assumption is that when you add a PCIe x16 video card, the onboard video is automatically disabled in the BIOS.
See if you can change the O/B video setting back to Enabled to see if that will allow both video devices to work at the same time.
If the setting is grayed out or it enables the onboard video but disables the PCIe x16 card, then I guess it can't be done.
