IMac can't watch streaming Flash fullscreen w/o repeatedly going to sleep

This is not an Energy Saver System Preferences issue.
The machine is set to never sleep. However, whenever I watch streaming flash video full screen, the machine will put itself to sleep, usually within just a minute or two of the video being made full screen. You wake it up, and within 10-15 seconds, the machine will sleep itself again - repeatedly. I have already reset the SMU, but that hasn't solved the issue. Resetting the P-RAM has made no difference.
I'm not sure if this is a software issue, or, perhaps a hardware issue.
Any ideas?

Full screen or not, it is still going to sleep.

Not sure why machine is overheating. Vents seem clear of obstructions.
However, it seems so far to only be happening when I watch flash video.

The symptoms you speak of are the exact same ones happening to me. This use to never happen, it has only been happening recently and I have had this computer over 4 years now. I have also been streaming Flash video on this computer for just as long without much issue. It seems like an issue with Flash Player 10.1, but the problem is, sites like Hulu don't support older versions of Flash anymore.

Yes, get the free Netflix App from the App store. Of course, you have to be a Netflix member.

Can't watch streaming videos anymore.

I am using Apple OS 10.4.11 (Tiger) with Flash Player 10.1 on a Desktop Emac and on a Laptop MacBook. Both computers are similar, if not identical in setup and software employed. Yesterday I could view streaming videos on both computers. Today I suddenly cannot view streaming videos on the Desktop, but I can on the Laptop. How is that possible? Webcams attempt to load on the Desktop, saying "Loading interface", but where the Laptop goes on to say "Initializing", the Desktop now says "Loading Error 102, please try again", but re-trying does not help. It is as though i have shut something off that was on before. I have tried downloading Java and Java Script, Flashplayer 10.102.64, checking to make sure no Firewall is up, Java is enabled, and everything else I have found online to try to remedy the situation, to no avail.
Occasionally, I accidentally trip an F key and have to work through it. Could I have tripped something that now won't let me watch streaming videos on my Desktop? Is that possible? I just can't find any answers. Any new suggestions?

Open System Preferences/QuickTime
Click the 'Streaming' tab
Set the speed to one slower than your network connection
Check 'Enable Instant on'
Drag the slider 2-3 notches from the left
Click the 'Browser' tab
Check 'Play movies automatically'
Check 'Save movies in disc cache'
Slide the size selector all the way to the right
Click 'Empty Download cache'
Close the panel and try viewing another video

YouTube Problems on new iMac [Can't Watch Videos]

Hello,
I bought a 27" i5 iMac, the one who has the thunderbolt feature.
The problem is that I can't watch many YouTube videos and I don't know why.
Can anyone help me?
BTW, does Adobe Flash Player comes included on the computer or I have to install it?
P.S.: I bought the iMac but I know nothing about the Macintosh OS so if anyone could give me some tips/tricks and apps/programs to install I would appreciate!

How can I watch streaming images that are made for Windows Media PLayer on my Mac Mini?

I'm having problems watching live images from a certain website that uses Windows Media Player. Earlier I used Flip 4 MAC and had no problems, but all of a sudden i can't watch the pictures anymore.Updating Flip4Mac didn't help! Who can help me??

Can't watch YouTube in Fullscreen any longer...=(

I get severe stuttering if i try to watch YouTube vids
fullscreen, this is new since 2008. I've looked at alot of things
so far. The system is WinXP sp2 latest patches etc., and if i use
either FireFox(latest) or IE7(latest), neither works.
I have about 8 user accounts on this system right now, i have
this problem for half of these accounts, i tried creating new user
accounts (YT works for new users), then moving user data over to
the new accounts and i get mixed results in that YT works for some,
but not all.
It seemed like a network speed issue at first, so i switched
from a 1.5Mb/s wireless to 4Mb/s cable connection to internet, no
fix. I even looked at SpyBot Teatimer, and SpyBlaster, and Hosts
file, and ATIToolTray, no fixes occurred.
From a user account where YT works i run FireFox via Run
As... on an account where YT does not work, then it works. I've
tried creating new FF profiles on trouble accounts without that
fixing the YT issue, so it seems something is running in the
background that i cannot find on some accounts.
I have all the tools if someone has a clue please ask me to
run one so we may diagnose this issue! Tia! =)

WHEN YOU ARE VIEWING A NORMAL SIZED YOUTUBE VIDEO, RIGHT
CLICK ON IT, GO TO SETTING AND DISABLE HARDWARE ACCELERATION

Screen flashes on and off after going to sleep

I get this intermitantly when the iMac goes to sleep, it then starts to flash from on to black to on to black etc about every second and just keeps doing it. Have played with the prefs but no luck other than making it not go to sleep. Any ideas? I searched here and other places but can't see any obvious threads.

can't b loose connectors as the old slap on the side doesnt fix it and it is way too regular for mechanical so I reckon software but not sure what. Oh well. If you use the button on the back to put it to sleep it does not do it.

How can I select shutdown & close the display w/o going into sleep mode?

I have learned to wait untill the MBP full shuts down before closing the display. In the past I have pressed shutdown closed the display only to find out later the MBP goes into sleep mode before fully shuting down. When I reopen the display the computer finishes the shutdown process or worse the battery is dead.
I would like to select shut down, close the display and walk away while the computer completes the shutdown process.
Is there any setup options or apps. that will allow this?

Well hello there, and welcome to Macintosh.
Unfortunately you can't change anything to stop this from happening. The shutdwn process goes about its business killing processes and applications that have been running. The sleep process interrupts ALL business going on in the OS, and puts the machine into low power mode, as it is not aware of the nature of the running processes (in this case, the shutdown process), knowing only that they must be slept and the machine dropped into sleep mode. You gotta wait it out before you close the lid.
I would suggest sending a message in OS X feedback requesting this as a feature!

Can I watch streaming TV on Apple TV?

From what I've read so far there's not much TV about Apple TV. At least not the old-fashioned way of looking at TV.
Next to watching DVDs (do they really need to be ripped first???), downloaded movies and other content either on the HD or in the iTunes library, I want a device which can show streaming TV in high quality, preferable HDTV. I have understood that Apple TV only works through iTunes. To make the Apple TV a compelling product for me - and not just a way to avoid hooking my MacBook directly to the big streen - provide streaming TV through iTunes much the same way streaming radio is available. And make deals with the big stations - for a fee - in good quality. This will make the Apple TV a killer product since you would not need to have the real TV next to it - and a subscription to a cable provider.
The real question is whether there is a way obtain streaming real-time TV from the net to the Apple TV?

Can I watch streamed content via the internet on Aplle TV

I have just connected the apple TV to my stereo and TV, I get the Itunes library just fine, youtube etc etc. I would love to be able to stream live contect via the web is it possible to see this on the TV with this device and I'm being stupid. Just cannot figure it out.
if the event is being streamed live do I just input that address in the stream location via itunes? I tried a test vis USSTREAMS of stored contect and it did not work.

You need to mirror to do that. If your mac is mid 2011 (early 2011 for MBP) or newer and running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion you can. If it is older then you can use a third party app called airparrot.

Can't Watch Streamed Video

In Apple's site, I've been trying to watch the Steve's Keynote Addresses, which I've done before on this machine, but now, for some reason when I click the links (either standard or HD) I get an error message that says "This computer's Internet connection appears to be online. (-66559)...and then gives me the option to click "OK" or "Network Diagnostics". And, after clicking "OK", the videos still do not load.
Anybody know how to fix this issue? Thanks!
Using the latest version of QuickTime--

Try the following:
QuickTime System Preferences>Advanced tab>Transport Setup: to Custom and then HTTP Port ID 80 instead of Automatic or UDP.

The dude are downloading them from

However, the dude gets a "The page requires
AC_RunActiveContent.js" error.
I'm using WinXP, the dude is using Vista.

The dude isn't uploading the js file with the rest of the
files. The error
is telling the dude what he did wrong :)

Can't boot windows - select boot disk and computer goes to sleep

I've got a Mac Pro 3,1
I've had windows 7 installed on an IDE hard drive in the CD bay.
Lately, I was getting BSODs, so I decided to reinstall - I reformatted the hard drive and I'm trying to move forward.
I haven't been able to boot any kind of windows installation disk! USB, DVD, anything!
I select the boot disk on boot up (hold option, select the windows install) and the computer seems to boot (shows the bootcamp logo) then just goes black (like it's sleeping - monitors off, not an 'active black' screen) There is no hard drive noise - this thing is basically off.
I've tried using rEFIt, using different USB drives, DVDs, everything. I can get into rEFIt, select the boot disk - and it's the same problem. Windows won't boot!
What gives? I've had no luck looking online for this issue. Some folks have a 'black screen' with an iMac - but this isn't a driver issue - the computer is not booting!

never mind, I changed the connection to a different usb port and problem solved. Thanks anyway.
