Imac cannot connect with macbook pro

I'm using an Airport express as my router and I cannot get access to files on the other computer. When the Apple Extreme worked, this was not a problem. I have files sharing checked in the Sharing Preferences and Wireless is the number 1 in the networking screen. I can print wirelessly. Please help.

We did that, but it just doesn't seem to be able to connect. So basically we tried to connect to our network and insert the password, but afterwards it does nothing. Weird thing is also that the network symbol (top right of the screen) says that it has been connected, but when I go look at the system preferences --> network, it states that it has not been connected

You could try updating your apple TV and then restarting it. Bit of a guess.

  • HT204291 Cannot connect my MacBook Pro to Airplay.

Trying to connect my MacBook Pro to Airplay.  I get the icon and menu for selecting Airplay but it is grayed out and cannot be selected.  I have IOS 10.8.2. Anyone experience this?

Remove the security and see if you can connect. It may be the type of security (WPA, WEP, etc.) that your Mac isn't liking.

  • Slow Connection with MacBook Pro

Whenever I try to connect my MacBook Pro (Early 2011) to the Apple TV (3rd generation) for Aiplay Mirroring, it takes a long time to connect, and when it connects, the screen is almost frozen and the same happens when I try home sharing, everyting I play starts lagging, Airplaying music works for a bit then starts lagging every two seconds. I've tried AirPlay with my iPhone 4s and it works perfectly with music video and mirroring. I'm using the latest OS on all devices.

Sounds like it is not getting a great WiFi conneciton.  Streaming video is not tolorant of anyting other than a perfect connection.   You need a newer WiFi routner to support streaming video.  If you have one that supports the N standard then I would try resetting your Wifi router.

  • My new iMac cannot detect old MacBook Pro HDD (as external with bootcamp)

I just setup the brand new iMac 27. I hooked up the old HDD from my MacBook Pro (with bootcamp). I can only see the windows files but not the MAC files like iTunes, iPhoto, and etc. I initially thought maybe the OS so I plug in my wife's older version iMac and also seeing only the windows files. When I do the eject, it said there are 2 partitions and if I only want to eject one of them or both but then it shows only one drive.
Anyone knows how I can detect the MAC files so I can retrieve all my files back?

The HDD was still good. I used the Windows to read the Mac files and it read OK (need to install some 3rd party software). It didn't convert anything but only allow it to read the MAC files from Windows OS. But when I connect to the MAC OS, it won't see it!

  • Problem while using Internet USB Connection with Macbook Pro

    Hi...
My name is udayan and i am from India, I am using MACBOOK PRO from last 1 year. For most of this period i have used wi-fi connection for my laptop. But recently i have purchased a Relience Net connect Device for Internet facility. As soon as i started using this device, i have started facing an unusual problem. Whenever i start using it, after 5-10 mins. a fade screen appears and asks me to RESTART the laptop. This keeps on happening after every 10-15 mins which is pretty annoying. I have tried to use the same Internet device on normal laptops and it works just fine with that machine.
Can you please help me to understand this phenomena? Is it a MAC limitation or something else?
Hope to hear it from you soon.....
    Cheers!!!

I tried to connect with Ethernet the MACBOOK Pro to the modem but the situation hasn't changed
Are you saying you cannot connect to the internet wirelessly and through the ethernet?  If so, there is something else going on.

  • HT3669 Where did you get the driver information for the HP 4MV.  I cannot connect to MacBook Pro on 10.6.8 and believe you have information that might help.  Please advise ASAP.

Apple published a report - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669#HP - that states system 10.6.8 supports the HP LaserJet 4MV.  If this is accurate information, I would like to know where the drivers are located.  I have spent more than three hours with your technical support and no one has a clue how to make this combination work.  Please help ASAP.  Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
We are all users here. There is no one from Apple responding on these user forums.
You did not mention which interface you are trying to use, or what steps Apple support had you try already, so I'll start with basics.
Your mid-2009 MacBook Pro would have shipped with OS X 10.5 'Leopard', and OS X 10.5 and prior versions supported the AppleTalk network connection and protocols, as well as others.
OS X 10.6, 'Snow Leopard' dropped support for AppleTalk.
So, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 likely does contain the correct DRIVER for your printer, BUT if your printer was originally connected via AppleTalk, AppleTalk will not work with Snow Leopard. Period.
There is at least one recently-published workaround to connect your printer via Ethernet, provided that you have the OPTIONAL HP Ethernet MIO interface card installed in your HP LaserJet 4MV printer.
If your printer DOES have the optional Ethernet interface, you can reconfigure your printer to use Ethernet instead of Appletalk. No, it's not 'plug and play' like AppleTalk was, but patiently following detailed step-by-step instructions it can be made to work.
The HP forums contains brief instructions on how to configure MIO Ethernet, and once configured, how to select the 4MV driver within this thread:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Mac-Printing-and-Scanning/Laserjet-4mv/td-p/1176843
This Macrumors forum thread contains a post by TrumpSAJ with more detailed configuration instructions:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=8748935#post8748935
Other World Computing has an older guide linked here:
    http://blog.macsales.com/1897-appletalk-not-available-in-snow-leopard
And a thread on Gigaom discussing some other alternatives to Ethernet (for a variety of printers):
    http://gigaom.com/apple/how-to-resurrect-your-appletalk-printer-in-snow-leopard/
In my opinion, if you don't already have an HP Ethernet MIO card installed in your circa 1995 printer, then it's time to buy a new printer. Spending more money to 'upgrade' something that old doesn't seem like a good investment.

  • IPad cannot connect to MacBook Pro

I have recently updated to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro and my iPad is running iOS 8.1.
If I plug the iPad into the MacBook (usb) then the charge symbol on the iPad flashes rapidly and repeatedly between charging and not charging. When I open Itunes I get an error message saying "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." which I then can't get out of - i.e. I click OK on the error message and it returns straight away.
Anyone got any ideas as I now cannot sync or backup my iPad?
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)
    2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    iPad Model MC705B/A
    16GB

Sorted - kind of - not my cable but it is the socket on the iPad itself. OK if just plugged into a charger, but when connecting to a Mac, it's obviously doggy as it works if I apply pressure to one side of the plug. As soon as I release the pressure it starts flickering on the power indicator again and the error pops back up.
So physical problem, not Yosemite or iOS8

    Hi wongkj,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
A few steps that I would recommend in this situation would be USB related. Please read over and work through the steps provided in the attached article.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse won't connect with MacBook Pro in Bootcamp

I recently swapped my Bootcamp-partitioned hard drive from an older Core Duo MacBook to a late-2007 Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro.  I had no problem using the wireless mouse with the MacBook.  I'd click on the Windows desktop once it booted up and it worked flawlessly.
But on the newer MacBook Pro it won't stay connected.  I have to pair it with the Windows Bluetooth control panel each time I log in.
I'm not sure if this is connected to the issue or not, but I'm not able to use the trackpad and buttons on the MacBook Pro keyboard either.
I've seached the discussions without any success.  Advice anyone?
    Thanks in advance.
    Patrick

Well, by some stroke of dumb luck it finally connected. I slid the on/off switch open until the green light started to blink, when the mouse connected I opened it all the way and decided to work.

  • HT1349 Why bluetooth cannot connect between MacBook Pro and iPhone 3? If I need how?

I'm trying to connect ipnone 3 and MACBook Pro through bluetooth for photo transfer...but unable to recongnise, please advise?

"I tried enabling Bluetooth on my MacBook Pro and iPhone, thinking I could file transfer some photographs."
This is not a feature of iphone.  Never has been.
Other than tethering for internet, where provided by the carrier, you cannot connect to a computer/device/phone and do anything.
Bluetooth is for handsfree telephone devices/headsets, stereo speakers/headsets, some keyboards, some peer to peer apps from the app store and tethering where provided by the carrier.

  • DLink router wont connect with MacBook Pro

Hello Everyone... I need a little bit of help on this one!!
My mom just bought a brand new MacBook Pro (yay, she finally switched!) , but for some reason I can not get her MBP to connect to their wireless. The Airport card will no even find the network to connect to. There is not a password set and asking my parents they are not sure if there was a cd or anything to set it up. They have a DLink router that is several years old (DI-624 is the model #) and I have been scratching my brain to figure this out and can not get it!! There are several posts that give suggestions, but none seem relevant to my problem.
Any help would be awesome and thank you sooo much for your help!!

assuming your mum's previous computer was/still is able to connect to the DLink, it probably means that SSID Broadcast in the wifi settings (of the DLInk) has been turned off. which means nothing can 'see' the DLink that hasn't connected to it previously.
you'll need to temporarily plug the MBP into the DLink via a Cat5 Ethernet cable, log into the DLink's config website (probably http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1), and check the wifi settings. no install CD required
u said no 'password' had been set. do you mean no wifi encryption had been configured? you'd be well advised to if there's anyone living within 100m of your Mum . while you're at it, see what encryption settings have been set up there / are available. if it's WEP (or no encryption at all as you suggest?), you'd be well advised to change it to WPA. WEP is now hopelessly broken (easily crackable within a minute with the right tools). just be aware that any change here will affect any other wireless device that's also using the DLink.
if WPA is not offered, goto the DLink website and check for new firmware...

  • Apple magic mouse keeps losing connection with Macbook pro

I have a 2012 macbook pro, after upgrading to Mavericks(10.9.1, not have any other 3rd party software, just pure OS X), my magic mouse always losing bluetooth connection suddenly every one or two days. When losing connection, I found the bluetooth chipset type showing in macbook system information changed to unkown (FFFF). I have contacted with apple global support, and also have not gotten the solution. Just cleaning cache, and ect. but still didn't work.
When I downgrading the OS X to 10.8.5 Mountain Lion, same macbook, same magic mouse, work very well. Never happened lose connection issue during one and a half month.  So, it should be a Mavericks bluetooth driver's issue, or something reletived.
Any body have some good idea in solving this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem with a 2007 MacBook Pro on Snow Leopard. As soon as I changed the mouse's batteries, it started losing connection every few seconds. The mouse came with Energizer batteries originally - they supposedly don't fit well, but the mouse worked fine. I exchanged them with Duracell, which gave problems. Now I have Varta batteries installed, they give problems too. The paper-trick doesn't work for me.
Quite franky, I think it's rediculous that a fancy €69,- wireless mouse is so fussy about batteries. It's impossible to work with it. Is this just another way for Apple to get people to buy their batteries? I think a mouse this expensive should accept any and all batteries. Please, Apple: fix it. Seems like a really simple matter. Just put longer and stronger springs in the contacts for the negative poles.
    Thanks.

  • IPhone wan't connect with Macbook pro in bluetooth

I Can't conect my iPhone to my Macbook Pro with bluetooth

    Have you tried the following:
Pairing another device with your mac and/or iphone?
Maybe the app requires sharing to be turned on for mac?
I would check the app's requirements.. make sure it supports bluetooth versions that you're running.
