IMac Clock Changing to Random Time
After turning on my iMac, sometimes the clock displays a random time, nowhere close to the current time in my area. I have the clock auto set on which syncs through the internet, but that does not seems to help at all, in fact, i think it syncs a different time zone than i have set. But the catch is that once i go to the clock menu to reset the time, the clock goes back to my time zone. What could be causing this?
Which time server are you using? Apple Asia would seem to be the appropriate one for you.
I would make sure that your time zone & city and time server are setup appropriately for your area and see what happens. Probably wouldn't hurt to restart as well.

Has any one had any issues with their clock changing time randomly on their iphone 5c? it will go up in time then back several times during the day. I am the only one in the house that this is happening to
If "Automatic Time" is turned on in Settings, the time is coming from the cell towers. Contact the carrier to address.

Odd clock drift since summer time clock change
This is a weird one. Since the clocks changed back for daylight savings time (here in the UK, on Sunday morning from BST to GMT) I've been getting a strange error: while I'm editing a file in vi(1), occasionally when I come to save it tells me the file has changed on disk (it hasn't).
I thought I was going mad until a colleague said he's seen the same warnings on his machine in Eclipse. It seems to me like the clock is constantly drifting/being adjusted - I'm syncing with NTP to time.euro.apple.com, and I am seeing a lot of NTP updates in the logs:

These are big jumps - a second, half a second, much more than I'd expect to see. Given it's happening on a colleagues machine we can rule out my clock battery or other local hardware/software issues, it's happening both when I'm at work and at home (on two different networks), and it's only happening since the summer time change on Sunday.
Has anyone else seen this? This is on 10.6.4, on two machines that have not been rebooted since the clocks changed.I have a similar problem - when I start up my clock has advanced about 13 hours. It seems to have been doing this since daylight savings changed. It has the right time zone and I have unlinked synchronisation but it keeps happening even when it is locked.

Getting an error message: "if you are here, it is probably because your computer's clock is wrong." Ergo, I can't get to the page I need. My clock's date and time are right, but time zone was wrong-- changed & saved it, but still getting error msg
'Requires=network.target' wasn't in it so I added it but nothing's changed. I've left it in because openVPN does require network.
As I said, I had this problem with a script so I don't think it's anything specific to openVPN. I had a weird occurrence this morning however. When I started the computer up this morning openVPN worked just fine. However when the computer rebooted openVPN couldn't resolve the host address again. -

On settings you can change the brightness of the screen but my iphone does it when it wants to?
I have auto brightness off, and when im on my phone the light goes dark? It did it today when i was ending a call just go very dark? It doesnt do it all the time just at random times?This is hardware fault of LCD Display or Logic Board Display controllers. Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. See if better. If still problem and you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, the next step would be replacement of entire front assembly. If still problem there is no resonable fix. If you want this handled by Apple, they do not replace iPhone 4S front screens, they replace the entire iPhone 4S exactly like yours for $199.

Clock won't keep time after Mavericks installation
My clock no longer keeps time properly after installation of Mavericks. This problem affects all of my iMacs immediately post-Mavericks, so it's not an issue with a bad battery.
The symptom is: The clock drifts by about a minute per day. Clicking the Date & Time applet in Settings immediately syncs the clock to the correct time. So the NTP servers are obviously working. It's just that Mavericks doesn't make use of them to set the system clock unless the Date & Time applet is clicked.
I followed the advise here and used the UI to set multiple time servers. I used the recommended string: 0.us.pool.ntp.org, 1.us.pool.ntp.org, 2.us.pool.ntp.org, 3.us.pool.ntp.org
After having made this change, instead of the clock losing thirty seconds per day, now it gains one minute per day.
As you can see from the log, it executes a few time syncs correctly and then just stops. The last sync was executed back on 1/17/14 at 4:40pm:
Apparently the problem can be solved if the user knows Unix and can actually recompile parts of the operating system. This is way beyond my level of expertise.
Bottom line: Apple's OS releases have gradually been getting worse and worse and Mavericks' quality is degraded to the point where even basic operations like keeping track of time are apparently now impossible without in depth Unix & compiler knowledge. This is pretty much the last straw for me and I'm reverting back to Windows and that horrible Metro interface (it's ugly and impractical but at least it can tell time). But I can't switch out all of my iMacs overnight. I have to deal with Mavericks for a while longer. Is there a workaround to get this wretched OS to tell time properly without having to deal with cryptic Unix commands and OS recompilations?I didn't want to recompile ntp or start messing with system files that would end up getting overwritten on the next system update, so here's the solution I came up with.
I have a cron job running every 4 hours. In terminal, type
crontab -e
then, on the first line, type:
0 */4 * * * sudo /usr/sbin/ntpdate -u time.apple.com
(make sure there is a carriage return at the end)
This will sync your clock to the apple time servers every 4 hours. I have my cron set up where it actually e-mails me, so I've been monitoring the output, and have been adjusting more than 1 second each time it runs, which means I've been losing 6 seconds per day with this bug. That's bad even for a cheap alarm clock from WalMart. -
ITunes shuts down at seemingly random times (read others like this before)
I have a Windows 8 PC, 11.0 up to date version. I was getting a system sound at random times and concurrently the file would stop playing. Here is what I did .. I changed the system sound for "Device Connect" and made it something totally recognizable. Typical email sound and other error sounds come out and there is no problem. I think it is something linked to "Device Connect". Is it hardware or is iTunes battling for connection or what? When it happens I am able to close and restart iTunes .. but this is ridiculous. Anybody got a thought, direction or idea on what this might be?
A hard drive that's almost filled to capacity can have problems, especially if there's a lot of fragmentation. The drive could also have a hardware problem that's causing the read/write heads to stick, causing a system hang. If you want to continue using this Mac, I'd install a larger hard drive (120 GBs is the max. retail size that's recognized at full capacity). A worst case scenario would be a flaky processor. I had a G3-333 MHz ZIF processor in a beige G3 that would act up and cause system hangs. Once I replaced it, the quirky behavior disappeared. Unfortunately, your iMac's processor is soldered to the processor card. Unless you really want to keep using it, you should decide if it's worth investing any money trying to troubleshoot the problem.

CDX-GT565UP clock changes constantly
Had this player for some time. I listened to AM radio (news junkie) most of the time. Then I started listening to FM radio. Now the clock will constantly change time. I can set it to say12:15 then sometime later it will be some random time like 10:27 or 8:06 or 11:51. Anything but what it should be. It could take 10 minutes to change or 2 hours or it will change to 4 different times in 1 hour. There is no pattern that I can tell.
This time change does NOT occur when I'm listening to any source other than FM. It ONLY happens while listening to FM.
Any ideas ? ? ?

This issue will occur if leads are not matched correctly with the car's accessory power connector. Make sure that they are matched correctly.
Exactly what leads are you referring to? Got a diagram?

3GS crashes every time it rings, and also at other random times
Hi - my 3GS is running OS4.2.1 and has recently started crashing whenever anyone calls me (which is useful in a phone), and also without warning at other random times.
It's like it dies - the screen fades out and I have to switch back on with the power button. If I'm near a speaker I can hear the signal interference still going on, but the phone is unresponsive and needs rebooting.
I had a macbook pro that used to do this as well - just turn itself off randomly, which was really infuriating. I hope it's not in-built apple trickery to try to get me to shell out more cash after a set period of time (had the phone a couple of years, had the mbp a couple of years)...
Any assistance much appreciated - I don't really want to restore the phone and wipe everything, but I'm bracing myself for that advice.

PaulFirst, replace your sim. Your carrier/provider should give you a new one for free. If no change, try restoring your phone from your most recent backup. Follow this with syncing your iTunes content back to your phone. You won't lose any data or settings. While this will restore a fresh copy of the OS, if your problem is being caused by corrupt data on your phone, this will merely restore the problem. If no change after doing this, the next step is to restore as a "new" device in iTunes, again followed by syncing your content back to your phone. All saved data on your phone will be erased. If no change after restoring as a new device, your phone most likely has a hardware issue. If under warranty, make an appointment at an Apple store. If out of warranty, Apple has an out of warranty replacement program. Cost in the US is $199.

I am using Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1, Windows Vista, PC, Desktop.
My Mozilla Firefox freezes since about 31 Jan 2013 at random times quite often, when I do see TV or videos, also with YouTube videos. It freezes especially when I do start TV or a Video, sometimes also it freezes when the video is running for some time. I do use Firefox mostly only for TV and videos, so else I do not see.
Some days earlier (26 January 2013), I had installed the upgrade of the new Norton Internet Security 2013. The two Norton add-ons on for Firefox, I have both deactivated.
I can get out of the freezing, when I do click to end the Internet connection. After I have waited for about 5 seconds, the Mozilla Firefox browser can be moved again with the cursor. After I click to close the Firefox, and wait for about 5 seconds, the freezing also does end.
I did do two Windows restores, one to 1 week ago and the next to 2 weeks ago. After the restore, when I started Mozilla Firefox, it was at first Firefox 17. But to my very bad luck, Firefox started immediately to update to Firefox 18.0.1 I had seen this updating on Help – About Firefox. There were good times, when people could choose themselves which version of Firefox they wanted.
After the restore, I had also downloaded the latest Adobe Flashplayer version (about version 11.5), but the freezes have remained the same.
Is there a possility to prevent the automatic update of Firefox? So that I could choose which version of Firefox, I do want. When there is a serious bug in Firefox, I could nevertheless use Firefox instead of changing to the Internet Explorer. I know I myself am responsible to prevent hackers from entering my computer. I have read that 80% of users in Germany do not have any Internet Security against hackers at all.
My Internet Explorer until now does not freeze.This is not a solution. It is a gun in the mouth. Give us specific solutions, not "throw everything away" palliatives that involve no thought, investigation or effort of any kind on Mozilla's part. 95% of the utility of FF is not FF itself, but addons. After many years of developing that context, throwing it all away to get back a rudimentary 5% is as unacceptable as it is stupid.

I trayed to launch ff in console and use ff until freezes but no error is printed in console or wiritted in to file when its freezes ecept standard warns and massages i used "firefox &> ~/temp/firefoxcrashlog.log"
but i trayed firefox -g and used until freez and look what i have got

To Reset Firefox do the following:

No longer able to use + and - keys to change dates or time?
I recently upgraded from an igloo iMac running OS 10.3.9 to a new Mac mini with 10.5.8 (awaiting upgrade to Snow Leopard).
I used to use the + and - keys all the time to change dates and time in iCal, but have been unable to since my upgrade. Has that functionality been deleted, or is there a way to do it that I have just not discovered yet?

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device. -
PI 7.1 File & JMS Adapter stops polling at random times
Hi All,
IN PI 7.1, at random times, the File Adapter stops polling. But status is green in RWB.
It starts working after the restart of File Service.
Any idea why this happens? (We don't use FTP Protocol)Yes Ravi. We recently migrated to PI 7.1 from PI 7.0.
We dont use AAE.
We are on Support Pack 7.
