IMac connect to wi-fi but no internet but my other devices work fine

I need some advice. I have searched the helps forum before posting so please advice what I need to do. I have tried some of the solutions from the forums but not working.
My scnario...
iMac (latest version) was working real good until 2 nights ago. It still connects to the wireless router and once a while get internet but 98% of the time, impossible to load anything. It will load very quick after reboot the system then it slows down to eventually dead....and then several minutes, it loads very fast for few seconds and went dead and repeat the same. I follow the network diagnostic to turn off the router, wait and turn back on....same issue. Then, I thought it might be virus or melware cause I downloaded some Songs from unknown site. I then installed virus and malware remover but still not working. I then tried to login to my router to check out but I cannot even login cause it will even get to the login page. So I thought router is bad but it's not. My wife's iMac, PC laptop, Apple TV, iPad, and Android Phones are all able to connect with 30MB speed. I have tried to follow the DNS thing and still not working.
I use my iPad for AirPlay using same router so I am pretty sure the router is good and internet is good. So it only leave me with one thing, my iMac.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello...I cannot say anything about the malware/virus question... BUT, I wonder if something got screwy with your Keychain. So I clicked on the Help in the menu at top of the screen, while I had system preferences open... There is a lot there to read.. I am in 10.7.4, so it may not exactly match what your machine says (do that search too, for precision).. but one thing that I think MIGHT be associated with your dilemma could be the following (did you set new passwords before when you did as BDAqua advised? That will do things...) the window I found:
Applications that use passwords require your permission to retrieve your password from Keychain Access. An application may present a dialog asking you to confirm access to your keychain. The message may contain several options:
Deny: Prevent the application from retrieving the password from your keychain. You need to enter the password manually.
Allow Once: Grant Access to your keychain this time only. You’ll be asked again the next time the application needs to access the password.
Always Allow: Allow the application to always retrieve the password without asking.
If you want to allow an application, such as Mail, to always access your keychain without asking for a password, select “Always Allow.”
Open Keychain Access, located in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.Open Keychain Access
If you don’t see keychains in the left column, choose View > Show Keychains.
Select a keychain, from the Keychains list. The application’s keychain would probably be in your login keychain.
Double-click the password in the Keychain window, and then click Access Control.
To allow all applications access to this password, select “Allow all applications to access this item.”
To control access to this password, select “Confirm before allowing access.”
To require the keychain password instead of the application password, select “Ask for Keychain password.”
To add individual applications that can access this password, click Add (+), and then navigate to the application you want to add.
Click Save Changes.

My guess is that when you see the router on your phone, you press the blue arrow on the right - thats why you see all the IP stuff.   Don't press the blue arrow.  Press further to the left. You should be prompted for a password then.

  • Wifi connection unreliable only on my HP 23-h020a, all other devices work fine

We have just bought two brand new HP devices but are having major problems with the pavilion 23-020a. Basically the wifi connection is rubbish! All other devices in the house work fine and the PC itself is only a couple of meters from the modem and showing full connectivity. However we cannot reliably get internet connection when using wifi. Sometimes it's fine for a couple of minutes, some pages load, some don't, if my kids are in the middle if doing their home work when it comes to them moving on to the next page to do their online test, the page won't load and all their work is lost. This is totally unacceptable! If we connect using the Ethernet cable it's fine but to do that we have to have two meters of cable running across our sitting room. I need this resolved! We have tried all available wifi channels and nothing has helped. I hope someone here can! Thanks

  • TS1398 my ipod touch worked fine on my wifi home network. After not using my ipod for a month or so, I cannot access the internet. All other devices work fine. Thus, its not my home wifi....I tried resetting...forgetting....nothing works...still cannot ac

hello - my ipod touch worked well until a couple of months of non-use. Now, I cannot access the internet thru my wifi. All my other devices have no such problem. I have tried resetting wifi, "forgetting network" turning wifi off and on....nothing works....can anyone help?

    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
Does the iPod see the network? Error message? Does the iPod connect to other networks?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • New internet provider, Apple devices can't download updates/apps but all other devices work fine! help

    Hi there
I have changed to a new internet provider, and they configured my router (which was working fine previously with my Apple devices)
It is a D-Link router, and it is connected to the internet via PPPOE. (previous provider did not have this PPPOE configuration)
The technician did the configuration and the Wifi works fine for all my devices including laptops, and friends who use Android.
My Iphone, Ipad, and my friends' ones are the only things that seem not to work correctly.
They can find the network on the router. It then connects for a short time, then either after a few mins of browsing on Safari, or any attempt to download an App or update an App, it fails.
To summarise - All non-apple devices function fine and connect to router. Apple Iphones and Ipads find and connect to Wifi, but the internet works temporarily on browser, and any App update or download will fail. (Wi-fi remains connected)
I am hoping it is a simple router configuration issue and the installation technician missed something. Has anyone ever come across this?
what I have tried - Rebooting router, restarting Ipad, resetting network settings and other things, but I am almost certain it is a router configuration thing.
Just hope someone can help, because I have called my internet provider and if they will charge for a call-out if they find it is not ''their fault'.
Really really appreciate any answers to this one.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • TS1398 I am unable to connect iPhones to our home wifi. Other devices work fine.

Recently, I was having issues with our D-Link Dir-665. I did a factory reset to it on the routers settings (ie. 192.168.0.1). I was able to succsessfully connect my laptop, as well as our Kindle Fire HD. However, when trying to connect our iPhones (4 & 4s), it does not even see the SSID. So, we tried setting it up under "other network" and it says "Could not find network". After searching some other forums we also ended up reseting the network settings, hard resets and syncing the devices as well. All to no avail. . The router gives the option to add the device but requires a PIN from the devices (not really sure if this will even help)...
When I reset the router I am sure it probably reset things like the WPA and channels etc. I am pretty lost at this point. Help
    Thanks

I was able to do a full reset on the router (pushing the tiny button near the power input). Then ran through the setup process and it started working on my device.

  • TS1398 My I pad is 14 motnhs old and previously worked fine on my home wireless network.  All other devices work fine, but now, my I pads capability (range) is greatly reduced.  Is there anything to check on the ipad for WIFI antenna strength?

My Ipad is 14 months old and previoulsy worked fine on my home wi fi network.  Recently the range is diminished but all other devices (ipods, ps) are working just fine.  Is there anything to check functionality of the wi fi antenna?  Has anyone has similar problems?  Unfortunately, the warranty expired 2 months ago.

My iPhone connects to wifi just fine. When it does it connects to the internet just fine except in one location. My house. My MacBook Pro, my wife's iPhone and her iPad get on the internet there just fine. My Iphone's IP address it begins with a 10. At my house it occasionally will connect to the internet through wifi but I leave wifi off there because it is so intermitent.
