IMac constantly hanging up - needs reboot every few hours

I'm running an i5 iMac currently when I play WoW. Usually I only have Safari and iTunes open at the same time. My iStat tells me GPU temps are around 80 celsius and CPU temps at 55 celsius. When I'm playing WoW for an hour or two, everything on my display will freeze up, but I can still move the mouse pointer around. The music from iTunes keeps playing as well but keys and etc are unresponsive.
My first thought was that it was a GPU heating issue so I tried out smcFan control, which bumped my GPU temps down to 62 celsius and CPU temps of 45 celsius.
Is anyone else having these issues or know of any possible solutions? Thanks for your time.

yes i had the same exact problem, now my imac will not boot at all.
do you think it was a heating issue?

  • EA6500 reboots every few hours

Hi, I got my new comcast connection and using CISCO DPC3008 cable modem and EA6500 Wifi Smart Router. Internet works fine and then suddently the internet goes away. Further investigation shows EA6500 Wifi router just reboots every few hours and then wifi devices don't reconnect like it used to do with previous routers.
Any idea what is wrong? Have the latest firmware. Reset multiple times.

    Hi,
Is there a specific time when the router reboots? This performance seems weird and there's no way for most of us - the end users to check what causes the reboot. Anyways, you can try to set static channels on both 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz bands. For the 2.4Ghz - set it to channel 9 - 2.452 Ghz and for the 5Ghz band, set it to 153 - 5.765 Ghz.
This is based from  an observation on my friend's N450 Belkin Router - got so curious of it's "self healing" feature. Based on observation, self healing will just re-initialize the router based on the specific time that had been set and it will cycle through other available wireless channel. So, to avoid re-initialization, we can try setting a static wireless channel on EA6500.

  • SRP521W appears to be rebooting every few hours - is it RMA?

We bought a SRP521W as a replacment VoIP ATA and Wireless router a couple of months ago but we're getting some poor network performance and having dismissed just about every other cause we're taking a closer look at the SRP521w.
There's precious little in the way of logs on this thing so I'm not sure where to start.  I have it sitting on my desk and a couple of times a day I hear it click, I thought this might just be it reconnecting to the SIP server but looking at the status its uptime is just a few minutes so the click is obviously a reboot.
This clearly isn't normal so I'm looking to find out if this is case enough to RMA.  I've tried downloading the firmware but get an error on this site.
I'm trying to stay constructive but my patience is wearing thin, I thought I was buying a "Business" product, albeit a small business product, that's not the impression I'm getting from the product or this website.
Let me know if I can provide logs (and howto) or screen shots to fix this, I'm hoping it'll fix the very disappointing network performance too.

    Hi Richard,
Sorry for the late response to your query.
Where you able to download the latest code for the SRP521?  If not, I'd recommend that you do that first and foremost.
The code is available from: http://www.cisco.com/go/srp500 (follow the "Download Software" link.)
Remember to log in as admin/admin to upgrade the firmware on your device.
Can you describe the problem you are seeing with network performance a little more?  I presume this is throughput to/from the Internet, rather than between local devices?  Are the local devices wired, or wireless?
We have had some reports from a few customers that they see performance reducing as a function of time.  This particular issue seems to be mitigated by disabling UPnP - we're invesigating this issue at the moment.
If you are seeing issues, firstly, I would recommend raising a case with Small Business Support Center.  To help with diagnose the issue, log in to the SRP521 as admin/admin, then browse to the Administration/Remote Debug page.  Click the "Collect Debug Information" button and provide the downloaded file to your support engineer.
    Hope this helps,
    Andy

HP B2600 Workstation with HP-UX OS frequently auto-reboots for unknown reasons.  Could this be caused by too much dust inside thereby overheating it or the power supply?  Is there any way to interrogate it to find out if the power supply is adequate.  The LCD displays "RUN F01F".

  • System rebooting every few hours....

    Z77A-G41, 2600K no overclock, 8 GB 1600, Win 7 Professional
BIOS and all drivers up to date.
Reboots seems to happen when I'm AFK not when computer is in active use.   Power management issue?

RAM by them around that time frame had some pretty strange programming on them, although what CPU-Z is reporting for the Mem. Tab is normal for DDR3 1333. Could you use a hosting service such as Photobucket and post screenshots of the CPU-Z Memory Tab and SPD Tab? Your mainboard must be limited in it's ability to tweak much. So basically Auto or 1.65v's is it? 1.65v's is too much nowdays, as even 2133 speeds are possible on only 1.50v's.

  • Constantly Rebooting every few mins

Hey, my device is constantly rebooting every few mins.
I bought it from ebay classed as 'spares or repairs', and the post stated that it was not receiving signal and stays on "searching...". no big deal as i only wanted it for a cheap ipod for my younger brother.
is there any way i can stop it from doing this rebooting thingy? i've tried the method of turning on 3g then restarting the phone then inputting a sim but that hasn't fixed it :/
any and all help is much appericated

This kind of crash is usually or always caused by a memory fault. If you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original ones and see whether there's an improvement.
Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test, if applicable.
You can try reinstalling the OS, but most likely there will be no change.
Otherwise, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the crash, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.

  • Adobe Flash CC hangs every few hours

Hi, I have this issue since I have started using Adobe Flash CC in my new desktop pc. My Flash Window hangs and I have to force close it every few hours to make it work again. I am just doing some basic tracing work and the file size is not too large. I am using a very high configuration pc and with ample disk space. Attached is the screenshot of how it looks when it hangs. If someone has experienced this issue before please revert with any solution. Thanks

check your running processes to see if you have an adobe thread that's hanging (other than flash pro).  if you find one, you can usually terminate that and regain control of flash pro without needing to terminate it.

  • IPad2 reboots every few minutes

My iPad2 recently began to reboot every few minutes of use.  It has been reformatted, all added apps removed and the battery allowed to completely deplete then recharge, all to no avail.  Any suggestions?

If you are near an Apple Store, a trip to the Genius Bar.  If you are still under warranty they can replace it.  If you are out of warranty, they may still be able to replace it for a fee but it will still be less than full retail cost.

  • OS4 upgrade = error 29 then reboot every few min. on use

Tried to upgrade my iphone to os4 last night and got an error 29 message and was then stuck in an endless reconnect to itunes loop. Restore only resulted in further error 29 messages. Finally after a good bit of searching on potential solutions I used irecovery to escape the loop. Now os4 is on my iphone (and looks great!) but it reboots every few minutes (2-3) when being used. It does not reboot if off. I tried restoring again after discovering the reboot problem but that got me back to square one and error 29 messages again.
Noticed some others with similar issues but didn't see a thread with this exact problem posted.
Perhaps it's worth noting that I replaced my iphone battery myself a few months ago but had no issues at all until now. Not a jailbroken iphone. Just trying to get it to work.

Ok. From reading through the forums some more it definitely seems to be related to the battery. Perhaps for some it's because they have a semi-bad original/OEM battery. For me I'm guessing it's because I installed a non-OEM battery when my original started to fail. I bought a higher capacity replacement than OEM off the internet thinking it would give me better battery life. It worked perfectly fine until upgrading iOS4. In addition to previous problems posted my battery is either not charging at all now or charging very slowly. It reboots even as I'm trying to recharge. I've turned it off while trying to recharge it now in the hopes that this will make it charge properly. I've also ordered an OEM battery now in the hopes this will fix the problem. Wish I hadn't discarded the original. Odd that an OS upgrade would cause this problem. The tinfoil hat part of me wonders if Apple did this on purpose to discourage DIY fixes. If so, that's really uncool of you, Apple. If I break my phone fixing it myself then let me break it. Please don't break it for me.
Once I get an OEM battery and install it I will update on whether that worked for me or not.
Here's a post from another thread concerning error 29:
    Hi all,
I am so happy! I can confirm the error 29 has been resolved and it is to do with the battery gauge. I ordered a higher capacity battery from Ebay, that messed around with the readout in 3.1.3. I was on the verge on making a claim for a replacement iphone until just now. Also as a word of warning, Non apple OEM battery will cause the phone to crash. Maybe the phone is sensitive to calculating the gas gauge so when it can't work out the exact charge it'll force the phone to reboot every 5 minute interval, this is apples ploy to dig out illegal modifications? This is very interesting, Phone fully functional now after installing OEM battery. I will now install the bigger capacity battery to see if it is compatible with it. I'm guessing not.

i recently instaled the ZD WLan wireless utility because i got a Belkin f5d7050 usb wireless adapter, now every few hours mac needs to reboot. after it reboots though it gives me the message that it had to shut down unexpectedly (because it told me to hold the power button) i thought i could find out whats wrong by clicking on the Report button and going through the report log, but it never opens. • FMS server keeps logging this message "fiber pool full : 0 active" and crashes every few hours

    Hello.
We have a live video streaming application running on Flash Media Server 4.5. It usually has about 50-80 concurrent clients connections - and at peaks it can sometimes reach 200-300.
The server log in the admin console keeps repeatedly logging this message:
fiber pool full : 0 active
I have no idea what this message means, and googling it returns 0 results.
Please, someone clarify what this message means...
    Plus:
Every few hours the application in the flash server suddenly seem to stop responding - in a way that makes it seem (at least in the admin console) as though clients gets connected but never disconnect - and then the numbers of connecting clients seem to rapidly increase really fast to about 4000-5000 - and the server becomes unresponsive.
I don't know why it happens but - probably is related to that cryptic message mentioned above.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Yuval.
    Invoke LTD.

Hey Yuval, I am having the same issue on my server, it keeps showing me a wrong number of connected clients and on server logs the message "Fiber Pool Full: 0 active".
After I am on manage server and try to go back to application flash player stop responding and I need to close that tab and open again!
    Does this happen to you?
Too bad I don`t have any solution to that, but if you find anything, it could be valuable for me as well, and vice versa.
    Thanks.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro (non-retina) low FPS requires SMC reset every few hours

Like the title says - I have to reset the SMC every fews hours because the FPS (frames per second) during games crashes down to an unplayable 20-30fps.  Once I reset the SMC it jumps back up to 120fps but it won't go back up, even if I stop playing, until I SMC reset.  Additioanlly, I don't even have to be playing games for the fps to die out.  I can reset and walk away, come back later, and the fps will be down again.
An update for the retina Macbook Pros has come out - can we have one for non-retinas?

I'm having a similar issue. Not sure if this is related though. I used to plug in an external monitor and close the mac so I have only the external monitor. But then whenever I needed to unplug the monitor and open the mac, sometimes it wouldn't wake up, or other times the brightness of the screen is messed so the meter was showing the brightness at half but the screen was without brightness at all and by increasing it to the max, the screen would top until half its brightness.
So I read and looked for, and some possible solutions were to reset the SCM, PRAM and reinstalling the system, I've done all, the last was reinstalling the OS and it seemed to work (actually I can't be fully sure because I stop using an external monitor, and have pluged in only a couple of times after the reinstall). However, today suddenly my mac froze and the console shows that error code "npvhash=4095". Also I've tried with the fonts validation and nothing...
As I said, not sure if this is related but hope a little of more information helps.
As a side note, while reading about the external monitor issue, it seems that thunderbolt port doesn't play nice with DVI.
