IMac doesn't see ipad

Connecting my iPad to my computer the iPad is not visible in iTunes.
A few days ago everything worked perfectly.
All options in iPad are switched on.
Have I done something wrong?

If one of your Macs is earlier than 2012 model, you must use Legacy Airdrop for Mac to Mac connections. If you have one newer and one older, on the newer Mac, select the link that says something like, "not finding what you expect." That will put the new Mac into Legacy Airdrop.
You cannot Airdrop between a "legacy" Mac and iOS.

  • IMac doesn't "see" USB Flash drive on initial insertion

    Hi,
I have a new iMac running Mavericks with a powered SIIG external USB hub. (Rear USB port design on iMac is inconvenient).
Problem: When I insert a NTFS-formatted USB Flash drive into the hub, the light blinks as expected, but the iMac doesn't "see" it and it doesn't show up in "Devices".
When I remove and re-insert the USB drive, the iMac then "sees" it just fine and it shows up in "Devices"
    Seeing this consistently.
Any ideas what might be happening here?
I also have Paragon NTFS installed to enable read/write to external NTFS drives.
    Thanks.

I've tried 2 Anker 10 port hubs with my brand new iMac 27" Retina.  No storage device is recognized when connected via the hub.  The same storage devices are recognized when I plug directly into my iMac.  So there seems to be an issue from the iMac to the hub.

  • New iMac doesn't see old iMac data on Time Capsule

I have a brand new iMac - my Time Capsule doesn't see my backup, it sees my Mac Book Pro backup but not old iMac (which is broklen, hence new one from Apple). I can see old iMac data is there through browser but not seen by Migrate assistant. Any ideas?

Look at manual resstore methods.. I would be careful migrating to a later OS.

  • ITunes doesn't "see" iPad

I have a new Macbook Pro 2.66 / 8 GB, 15" and an iPad and an iPhone. The problem is that every now and then - about once a day or so, iTunes doesn't see the iPad or iPhone when they are plugged in. The device starts charging but there is no indication that a sync is occuring.
Following the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 I reinstall iTunes and replace the AppleMobileDevice kexts and then things are fine, but after another day or so the problem occurs again. I have not been able to determine what might be causing that. Any idea?

This totally does not address the problem. I have had my iPad for only a few days and I'm about to return it. I've been able to sync it once, after installing a new OS, then uninstalling iTunes... and then it just grabbed everything/apps from my iPod, most of which I would not have put on the new machine. Now I want to sync the apps I've purchased on the iPad and some music/movies and the computer doesn't "see" the iPad at all.
Users should not have to wipe/restore the machine. If Apple insists on using iTunes as a portal for all things iPad, then iTunes needs a serious overhaul. It's a music tool now being used to hobble a much more dynamic machine.
Anyhow - I like the iPad, but Apple isn't really letting me use it if I have to sync via iTunes, but iTunes isn't a functional tool.
Thanks - please give me an option other than reinstalling iTunes many times a doy or returning my iPad.

  • Apple tv 2 AirPlay problem: doesn't see iPad or iPod

    Hi,
I've a problem with my APple Tv 2.
The iPad doesn't see the Apple Tv, so I have to clear the setti gA about account and everything else and then everything workstation fine but not for long! If try the very Next day it doesn't works and i've to repeate tris annoying procedure once again!
    Please help!

I'd still try to get rid of the coaster.
The cork is an insulator even if it feels warm it will prevent heat loss from the case of the Tivo below it, and will tend to keep heat in the sandstone above it which is conducting heat from AppleTV base.
I suspect the sandstone gets quite warm being in direct contact with the base of the AppleTV, but the heat can't go down through it's major surface area due to the cork insulating.
Some of my AppleTV's are of glass shelves - the heat will conduct into the glass but there's air below the glass that will keep it cooler - if there was a layer of cork underneath it would insulate against heat loss.
How about having 4 stacks of coins under each corner of the AppleTV to create an air-gap whilst minimising surface area (you could try 3 (2 front or back at corners, 1 in back/front center position, but might not be perfectly stable.
    No harm trying.

  • New iMac doesn't see Apple TV, but Macbook does

Until yesterday I was using my Macbook Pro for the Apple TV. Last night I moved all my content over to my new iMac (copied actually) and I want to start using the iMac for Apple TV. (once everything is set up I will just wipe the content off the MacBook.... 96GB is too much for a laptop!)
Currently the iMac isn't seeing the Apple TV, but the Macbook Pro is. Do I need to remove the Apple TV from the Macbook in order for the iMac to see it? I am just hesitant to try it because there is a warning message that everything will be erased from the Apple TV if I remove it. I am pretty sure everything is on the iMac and therefore wiping the Apple TV won't cause me to lose anything... but I would rather know if this is the solution before I do something like that!
    Thanks

Thanks... I was just getting ready to ask a new question I followed the Help guide's instructions to do Settings > Computers > “Connect to iTunes” but we can only stream now with that. So thanks for the response, it helped me to know what was going on there. Now I am going to go see if I can figure out how to do what you suggested.

  • IMac doesn't see iPods/iPhone

It doesn't recognize any of these:
    1 iPod Classic.
    1 iPod touch.
    1 iPhone 3G.
It doesn't appear in the Desktop, or Disk Utility, or iTunes. I connect any of these and nothing happens in the iMac or in the iPhone/iPods. No beeps, no hard drive noise, no nothing.
The problem isn't the cable, I've tested with different working cables and it doesn't work. The USB port works for everything else.
The iPhondes are recognized by other computers.
I think it might be some kind of a driver thing. If it helps to solve this, I don't see any iPod related process in the Activiy Monitor.
Already tried reinstalling iTunes, it didn't work.
    Running Snow Leopard.

  • Airport Express stopped playing music and iMac doesn't see it

I had set up an Airport Express to stream music from my iMac to my stereo.  Worked well for a day or two then stopped.  I tried to re-establish the connection but Airport Utility doesn't even see the Express any more.  I tried the reset button on the bottom of the Express but that made no difference.  When I plug in the Express the green light shows briefly, then steady amber for a few seconds followed by flashing amber.  The Express is within range of my network but to make sure I tried plugging it in to an outlet a few feet from my router.  Airport Utility still didn't see it.  Is my Express toast or am I missing something?  Oh, yeah, I'm using a Belkin router but that didn't seem to be a problem when it all was working.
    Appreciate any help.

    Hi Lowell,
I spent some more time with this last night and was able to get back up and running, albeit with some oddities.
I had previously tried a reset with the AX unplugged.  I finally realized how silly that was and did another reset with the unit powered on and right next to the iMac.  After some hesitation, it was seen and recognized.  I was then able to set it up in the livingroom, connected to the stereo.  For some reason, when I first tried that after the reset, the iMac once again didn't see it.  I brought it back to the desk, did another hard reset and set it up all over again.  This time it worked although I can't for the life of me figure out what I did differently.
    Oddities:
When I first reset it, the AX went from solid to flashing amber.  When I got it playing with the stereo, no light at all showed.  When I got up this morning, the unit was showing a steady green light.  I don't know what that's about.
While it plays strong and true much of the time, there are dropouts.  Sometimes these last only a second or two but other times can last for up to a minute, with some raggedness upon re-establishing the connection.  Do you know of any way to overcome that?
    Thanks for the help.
    Michael

  • Itunes doesn't see ipad - and I've tried all the remedies

My ipad 2 (ios5) isn't recognised as a device in iTunes on my iMac (running 10.6.8). I've tried all the fixes that apple recommends and tried all the suggestions on forums - updated software, different cables, ports etc. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Here is my standard reply so you can match it against what you have already done -
Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
Failing all that, see here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 for Windows and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 for Macs
And failing all that put the device into Recovery mode. See here and note the paragraph 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page -

  • Help!  My iMac doesn't see the hard disk!

My old, reliable iMac (the old sunflower flat panel) suddenly froze up and when I did a hard break and restarted it, the dreaded folder with a question mark appeared.
I tried starting it from an installation disk--which it did with no problems except it still didn't see the hard disk. I tried inserting the Apple Hardware Test disk, which worked. I ran it and it said everything was OK, but when I hit the Restart button it still didn't see my hard drive.
I'm at my wit's end because, being a freelancer, I have a lot of important information on my iMac, which I stupidly haven't backed up for a long time. I have a little hope because the Apple Hardware Test ran and didn't find any problems (the Mass Storage test passed, which I'm assuming is the hard disk?).
PLEASE! Can anyone help me? My main objective is to get my data off of the disk and onto either my PowerBook or my external USB hard drive.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Karin

I tried starting it from an installation disk--which it did with no problems except it still didn't see the hard disk.
Are you saying your drive did not show up in Disk Utility? Did you Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them.

You can retrieve data using Target Disk Mode to your PowerBook. That's if the drive shows up.

  • IMac doesn't see my my Sony DCR-HC19E via USB?

Please can anyone suggest a way of getting my iMac 2.7GHz Intel Core i5 [ 10.8.3 ] to see the video being output from my old Sony DCR-HC19E HD camera?
I'm using the only cable I have which is a USB, I've tried iMovie, Final Cut Express and Quicktime Pro but none of these seem to work. I've tried an alternative USB cable just in case the original was faulty but without success.

If the camera has Firewire then use that, also look at iMovie '11 Supported Cameras

  • Flash Pro Doesn't See Ipad - Debugging

Hi. I have both Flash Pro CS6 and CC. For some reason, under the debug heading the option "on device via USB" is always greyed out, completely unselectable. This is strange because I am able to publish perfectly fine from flash builder. Do I need to do something extra to make flash pro aware that I am connecting an ipad?

can you see your usb connected device in a file browser?
have you ticked install application on connected ios device in the air for ios settings panel?
with flash cc, did you click the refresh device list debug>debug movie>on device via usb?

  • My iMac doesn't see my replacement hard drive

Hi there. I started having problems with the spinning beach ball and then the computer would not boot up. The Apple store said it was my hard drive. Since they wanted almost $400 to replace the drive, I decided to replace it myself. I bought a 500 GB Seagate SATA II drive to replace the original 250 GB drive. I don't have the entire HD backed up but I did copy a lot of important files to CDs and DVDs before the HD failed.
I installed the new HD and inserted the original install disk 1 as I started the computer with the intention of installing the original operating system on the new HD, and then updating the software and copying my files later. When I got to the "select destination" for the software, it was blank--no hard drive appeared. So I ejected the install disk and restarted the computer (without holding down C key)and all I got was a folder with the blinking qestion mark.
I took the HD out and put it back in again, making sure I had good connections with the three snap in plugs. I got the same results. Do you think the drive is bad or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks for any help.

Sorry to hear that. Before you throw in the towel, you might want to run the Hardware Test just to see if it finds a culprit and what that culprit might be. I think you'll find it on the Additional Software Disk that came with the Mac, not the Install Disk. Run it in extended with all peripherals except the keyboard and mouse disconnected.
    +Using Apple Hardware Test+
+Before using Apple Hardware Test, disconnect all external devices with the exception of keyboard, mouse, display, and speakers. You should also disconnect the Ethernet network cable. If you are using the MacBook Air, you may need to connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive. Print out these instructions before proceeding with the following steps.+
+1. Restart your computer, holding down the “D” key while the computer restarts.+
+2. When the Apple Hardware Test language chooser screen appears, select the language appropriate for your locale, and press the Return key or click on the right arrow button.+
+3. If your computer is not supported by this version of Apple Hardware Test, an error dialog will be displayed. You should Shut Down the computer, locate the correct DVD containing Apple Hardware Test for this computer, and repeat the above steps.+
+4. If your computer does not restart to Apple Hardware Test:+
+a) Restart your computer with the DVD containing Apple Hardware Test. This should be the same DVD this document resides on. Hold down the “D” key while the computer restarts.+
+b) If your Mac has a Firmware Password enabled you need to disable it first using the Firmware Password Utility when booted from the Mac OS X installation DVD.+
+5. When the Apple Hardware Test main screen appears, follow the onscreen instructions.+

  • IPhone doesn't see iPad charger

    Hi,
My iPhone (first generation, purchased January 2008) does not recognize or respond to my iPad 2 charger when I plug it in.
It's not a cord issue: the iPhone charges fine when I plug the cord into the iPhone charger or into a USB port. It's the same whether I use the cord that came with the iPhone or with the iPad 2 or with an old iPod cord. The iPhone recognizes and charges on the iPhone charger and random USB ports but not on the iPad 2 charger.
On the other hand, my iPad 2 charges fine when connected to the iPad 2 charger, using any of the above cords. It will also charge via the iPhone adaptor (but not as quickly, of course).
Any thoughts as to why this might be?
    Thanks!

Settings - general - resets - reset network settings on your iphone.
this will force the iphone to "forget" all your previous wifi access points and settings (WPA, WEP keys , etc) and you'll have to reenter them again.
