IMac Duo shuts down when trying to encode a DVD for burning.

Last night my Imac Duo 17" with one GB of memory shut down and wouldn't eject a DVD after encoding and burning a DVD with iDVD. The upper LEFT hand corner of the iMac was very hot to the touch. I checked the temperature with CoreDuoTemp before it shut down and it read 170 degrees F.
On restart...all I got was a white screen...without the ability to get a startup screen or eject the DVD.
This morning...after leaving the machine on for about five minutes...the DVD ejected itself and I got a startup screen. Now everything seems to be working fine. It seems to me that the machine shut down because of the heat.
I reported this to Apple and they said that even if I had applecare they couldn't do anything without a specific hardware issue to report and probably wouldn't repair it. They said that overheating and shutting down wasn't enough to request a repair. That the machine was too hot to touch in the upper left hand corner didn't seem to concern them.
This makes me wonder if it's worth getting Applecare? What has happened to Apple that an overheating problem doesn't merit a repair or replacement of a two month old iMac?
Does the machine have to actually start on fire before they will do anything about it?

IMac is shutting down when it attempts to sleep with 'hibernate image' error

Our iMac is shutting down when it attempts to sleep. This started following a Yosemite security update, though of course it is difficult to determine for sure that that was the cause.
In the console, the following message occurs before every shut down:
kernel[0]: Failed to get hibernate image filename
Suggestions? Does someone perhaps know what exactly the hibernate image is (we have a tiled screensaver that shows an iPhoto album -- could it be that one of those files is corrupt?) so that I can attempt to change it to see if that fixes the problem?

More information:
1. It looks like the crash/shut down is happening when the display tries to sleep (timing is 15 min after the beginning of automatic sleep).

Palm Desktop shuts down when trying to view calendar by month

I'm using a Palm TX with the latest edition of Desktop installed (I think that's 6.2). Everything is normal except, suddenly, I cannot view my calendar in monthly view. Daily, weekly and yearly all work fine. Desktop shuts down when trying to view in monthly view. I did a system restart, a Desktop reinstallation, a download of the latest version and installation of that version and, finally, uninstallment of the existing Desktop, download of the newest version and installation of that version. Nothing seems to enable me to view the calendar in monthly view. This is a spontaneous event. I've been running Desktop on a Vista Ultimate system since February without incident. I have no idea about how to solve this.

Well, here's where we are now. It's a good thing that I have desktop on my office computer because when I tried a Hotsynch with my home desktop, Hotsynch wiped out all the data on my handheld and then hung up both the handheld and desktop in the middle of the Hotsynch. I'm going to overwrite the entire handheld with the office desktop file. As for the home setup, I'm thinking the only thing I can do now is uninstall Palm and wipe out the entire directory of files. Am I correct about this? Do I need to do a clean uninstall?

The first error has nothing to do with Photoshop - that's some .NET application.
The second error is most likely connected to a third party plugin or driver.
And you're running Photoshop CC (14.x) instead of the current Photoshop CC 2014 (15.x).

N200 shuts down when attempting to encode tra

I've got a Muvo N200 with which I have a problem.
When I try to encode tracks using the line-in it just shuts down when I try to choose that option. I go into the menu, use the jog wheel to scroll to the encoding option and the I press the jog wheel. Result: the player shuts off. I tried just scrolling to the option and pressing the play/pause button, but then it just exits the menu.
I have not upgraded the firmware on the player since I bought it, so it's fresh out of the box.
Anyone who's got a solution? Will upgrading the firmware do the trick?

Where can I find that firmware version? I can only find .6.02. And also, I tried updating to that firmware, but I don't know if it actually had any effect. When I ran that firmware update, the only way I got the New Hardware Guide-dialog to come up was if I removed the battery from the unit before I did the hold-play-button-and-then-connect-to-PC routine. Then it ran the Player Recovery stuff and then I unplugged it and it turned on just fine. However none of the tracks I had on it previously were delted. They were all intact after the upgrade. So the question is if the upgrade actually took effect.
Anyway, the encode option doesn't work now either. The reason I want to use this option is I want to be able to use the player for recording interviews using an external mic.
Also, in Explorer in WinXP the Creative Media Explorer says that the player isn't connected, while it obviously is as it shows up as a removable disk.

ITunes shuts down when trying to play video

My iTunes software shuts down when I try to play a video from my iTunes Library or from the iTunes Store site. I have backed up the library and have tried to reinstall iTunes, but when I did the entire library reappeared and the same problem exists. My Quicktime does work and iDVD, too, with home movies, other online streaming and DVDs, So I'm sure that the problem is with iTunes.

My friend uses a HP Pavilion ZV5000.
For some reason, my iChat shuts down when it's connecting.
It'll connect for one second and then, my iChat will close.

I was merely offering another option that she may not know about, since the AIM->iChat is flaky at best.

Why does my iMac not shut down when I try to shut it down?

Wh does my iMac not shut down, or restart when I try to do either. It just sits there with the little loading circle continuously moving. The only way I can shut it down is if I hold down the power button to shut it down. Can anyone tell me why this is?

Open your Activity Monitor and check to see what is running?
If there is some important Process running, then it is better to wait until it has finished instead of cutting the power and corrupting who knows what?
If there is nothing important running, then follow the instructions in the link below for resetting the SMC.

Bought a WRT110, installed software, and everytime the router and the wi-fi on my laptop are turned on, the laptop shuts down and restarts. Anybody have this problem before?

Just recently Mail is shutting down when I try to open an email with attached movie. When I mail again, the email is still there with the blue dot.
I found one document suggesting a Java..Cocoa plug in may be the culprit but no luck.

Wondering why my illustrator and indesign is shutting down when I try to print from those programs. I don't even get to a printing menu. Just got a new mac....Mac OSX 10.7.3 and using the same Creative Suite 4 I used on old machine and never had this problem....is it the newer operating system? What can I do?
