Imac (early 2009) Slow, display issues and freezing, can anyone get any info from crash report?
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can provide some insight into why my Imac is constintantly crashing.
Issue:
For as long as I can remember it has been ocassionally freezing. First there are little redish dots in clusters on parts of the screen, then if you move a window, some of the image of the window gets left behind. Then there are moving horozintal lines that come up from the bottom of the screen. You can move the mouse but it wont click on anything.
As of about 6 months ago they crashed became so frequent that sometimes you couldn't get 5 mins out of the computer before it would do it again.
I use photoshop quite a lot but the files are never extraordinaly large.
The top left part of the computer can become really hot.
In an effort to try to resolve it I rang Apple and they got to do something which made it work properly again for 2 days, long enough for me to decide to upgrade to Mavrick. Since upgrading it's been even worse. It's really really slow and in applications like mail its flashing and looking like it's loading the page over and over again, starting with the bottom of the page and the bottom colour. Mail searh is also not working. It then freezes again.
Mostly it freezes, and doesn' t crash so I have to restart it myself, so it's not reporting it as a crash.
Today it did crash, I was wondering if anyone can figure out whats wrong the the report below?
Thanks!

This is a Kernel Panic report, I cannot see any software related issues, my bst guess it's related to hardware. Common causes of hardware related KPs are RAM
Incorrect RAM
Failed RAM
Unseated RAM
Eliminate each and then re-test. If it's not RAM it could be a failing HD or something else. I would recommend taking the machine in to be looked at by a professional and tested. Take it to your local Apple Store or local AASP.

Is anyone else having this problem? I uninstall photoshop and re-install it because in some forums it seems that worked for some people. But they were also using PC not Mac's.
Well done, Gerry Brown. This solution actually helped me to troubleshoot for someone I was helping with a similar Script Editor issue. I actually thought of saving to another directory other than Applications like Desktop, but I'm troubleshooting over a Forum and the other person is offline. So I have no way of testing anything and it would've been like a forum-based version of phone tag. That is, if I could even figure out where to start in a one-way troubleshooting session. You certainly made my life easier with your conclusive answer so thanks haha. Kind of lame Nichy-boy didn't give you a like, but he meant well. I'll get you with a like.

first is it possible to connect my imac eaRLY 2009 as display for my macbook white 2010? If so what exact cables on the market do i need to purchase to make this work? Please help me out. I cannot afford to buy a new mac so temporarily this is my only solution.
Thanks to all my Mac buddies for your assistanceThe Early2009 20" or 24" iMac don't have any video-in capabilities.
Depending on your needs, you can investigate or tryout AirDisplay or ScreenRecycler which enable use of a Mac from another Mac or Windows PC through network/wireless connections.

You made a purchase and exhausted the credit on your card before it processed. All purchases are final. Contact iTunes Store support. You need to settle up before you can purchase or download anything else.

I have an I phone 3g and I downloaded the newest software and I can't get any music to play. I can't change my playlists and the songs I have on the phone just get skipped over. What can I do to correct this?
it recognizes the iPOD but I can't get any of the new songs to import to the iPOD
are you getting an error message, Odessa? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if you're not getting an error message, describe what happens when you try to transfer songs to the ipod as best you can. -
my computer crashed and I no longer have the itunes library. i get an error msg that my iphone 3g is synced to another library - how can I get the info from the phone to the itunes library without losing everything? How do I delete old audiobooks from my iphone?
You can transfer itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back. -

there are black dots below some of my icons and I can't get any volume
OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite
Black dots under the icons in the Dock?
If an application is running, it is normal seeing a black dot under the application in the Dock.
Closing the window doesn't make the application quit.
Quit the application from the menu bar.

Recently, I can't get any sound from my game applications. Sound works fine with video, streaming, etc, but not my game applications. I've tried powering down and re-booting, but the sound does not return. Can anyone help me?
Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via control centre instead : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085 -
I can't get any sound from my ITunes library. The IMac is set to internal speakers, the volume bar on ITunes itself is all the way to the right, there seems to be no problem with the speakers themselves (they play sound from internet videos, for example), but I can't play music from the ITunes library on the IMac. Please help!
Is it possible that you have iTunes set to send audio through AirPlay to an AirPort Express, Apple TV, or other AirPlay device (which is itself not turned up so you can hear it)?
