Imac failing to read SDHC card

I cannot get my imac to read sdhc cards and any forum discussions are too old for Mountain Lion.  And I'm as up-to-date with the software as it's possible to be.
Help!

it should I have no problems
it could be 1 of 2 things
1. the card is formated with a filesystem osx don't read or write
2. the card is corrupt and need a format

  • MBA and reading SDHC cards?

Can the mid 2011 MBA's read SDHC cards as opposed to the normal SD cards? I know the MB Pros can. It's not listed in the specs but it could have been overlooked. thanks.

I think this may help, but note it only discusses iMacs and MacBook Pros.  No Airs.  I would guess the specs are the same though.

  • HP Photosmart C3180, is there a driver that will enable this printer to read sdhc cards

HP Photosmart C3180 all in one printer. is there a driver that will enable this printer to read SDHC cards.

This is a limitation of the USB hardware on the C3180 which will not read SDHC cards.
Maximum recommended memory card size: 1 GB (solid state only)

My MacBook Pro can't read the SDHC cards. What should I do???
    Please help me.....

    Hi
Can you notice yellow exclamation mark in device manager?
Normally the Satellite L40 can read SDHC cards up to 8GB so my question is have you tried different brands of SDHC cards?
I have good experience with Kingston and SanDisk cards.
Furthermore you should check the Toshiba website for an update of the card reader:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Last but not least have you installed all Service Packs and Updates for Windows?

iMac can't read usb card, says need correct codec, how do I get correct codec?

What Mac OS are you running (from "About this Mac" in your Apple menu).
Codecs are usually required for viewing videos and should not affect whether the USB drive mounts. Can you tell us what kind of file your are trying to run from the USB drive? The pre-2006 iMacs this forum covers are no longer supported by most modern codecs

  • Macbook pro fails to read sd card with movies recorded on it, any ideas? I can view them in the video camera so know they are there somewhere. I am now thinking I should have formatted or initialised the new card before using it.

My macbook pro is failing to read a new sd card with movies recorded on it. Any ideas please? A previously used SD card has downloaded without problems. I have tried using a card reader as well as downloading from the video camera itself, neither works.
I can view the latest recordings on the video camera so know they are there somewhere. I am now thinking I should have formatted or initialised the new card before using it but didn't think of that at the time. Obviously don't want to do this now as it will wipe the movies.

  • Curve 8310 fails to read microSD card

    Greetings,
I bought a Blackberry Curve 8310 last summer and it worked fine until November of last year when the phone failed to read my Micro SD media card. Thinking the media card was the problem, I have bought a new media card a few months ago to try fixing the problem. The problem still persists and I need help getting this fixed.
I currently use Blackberry 4.5 Device OS. Under Options in the phone's menu:
    Media card support: on
    Encryption mode: none
    Mass storage mode support: on
Auto enable MSM when connected: Yes
    Total space: 1.8 GB
    Free Space: 1.4 GB.
This means the phone knows I have a media card but just cannot read it. For pictures, only the pictures I saved onto the microSD card using my computer can be seen, but pictures I took using the phone doesn't show up. When taking pictures, the camera indicates "File system out of resources". For music, all the music is visible, but when trying to play the songs, it doesn't do anything.
I have tried everything from turning off/on the phone, removing the battery to do a hard reset, not downloading any applications to see if they were the cause, and formatting the media card for blackberry use. I have even reformatted the phone 5 to 6 times and installed a clean new OS onto the phone and the problem is still there. The only short-term solution I found in fixing this problem is when using the Desktop Manager to backup my data on the phone. After backing up the data, the phone will recognize my media card and I can access it fine for about 2 to 3 days. Then the phone fails again and I have to keep backing up my data to get my phone to work. Now I am very tired of repeating this process. Either I get a long-term solution or I need a new phone (I believe I still have warrenty).
The phone is great but this problem is getting on my nerves. Someone please help me!

  • Read SDHC card in 10.3.9

how can i read a SDHC card in 10.3.9 G4 power book?
I try to use exress card reder, but not work
    thanks

Hi, tm001. You'll need to buy a card reader whose manufacturer guarantees its compatibility with the new SDHC card standard. Many older readers and other devices that can handle 1GB and smaller SD cards easily are incompatible with SDHC cards.

  • Lenovo G480 unable to read SDHC card

    Hi
I having an issue with my G480 unable to detect my SDHC card. I have install both drivers for my card reader from Support site but still unable to read my SDHC card even my camera can use the same SDHC.
    Any one have similar issue?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi mynorkin,
If you have the Lenovo G480 (type 2184 or 2688) as listed in this pdf data sheet, this doesn't support SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) as the card reader installed on these system is only a 2-in-1 reader which only supports MMC and Secure Digital Card,
As an alternative, you can get a USB Card Reader.
Edit: Added sample usb card reader.
    Hope this helps.

  • My MacBook Pro won't read SDHC card what can i do?

I have a MacBook Pro of 2010 running OS X Mavericks 10.9.2, when i insert my Samsung SDHC card (8Gb) it doesn't show up on finder or disck utility, but when i go to system information - card reader it shows there. When i insert my normal Samsung SD card (32Gb) it initiate with no problem... i have some pics on this card that i don't wanna loose, what can i do to fix it?

Check and see if it's under warranty.
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
If it is, take it to the Apple store, they'll run diagnostics and replace the battery if necessary.
If it's not under warranty and/or passes diagnostics, you may have software issue that's draining your battery, which could be solved by finding and removing the software. But I'd start with the warranty.

  • IMac (late 2009) reads SDHC UHS-I card but is ready only?

I just bought a Sony SDHC UHS-I 16 GB (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B7ID97A/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&p sc=1), and while my iMac reads it, I can't delete it, rename it, format it, etc. From what I can find, this iMac should be able to handle this card. Is that correct?

Check what format the drive is in by right clicking on it and selecting Get Info. If it's in Windows NTFS it will need to be formatted to MS-DOS FAT32.

  • Does anyone's iMac read the SDHC cards?

My iMac will read SD cards, but the new type SDHC card is not read. If your iMac does, what reader do you use? I have an older reader for multiple different cards.
I used to have a 4G SD card which the older reader and the iMac would input. The card broke so I bought a SDHC 4G card and the iMac does not read it.
I wonder if I buy a SDHC card reader/USB that the iMac will 'see' the SDHC card?

The older PPC-based early LCD iMac 1 GHz PowerPC G4, 1 GB ram Mac OS X (10.4.11)
of the OP is a bit different in vintage hardware and design, without a built-in reader.
{Most other references between a newer twice-removed model iMac based on Intel chips
and other improvements, is something to consider in this thread. And that makes the link
    provided not applicable to the computer in question.}
The newer external card reader should be adequate to resolve this issue, since the OS X
version should be capable to handle the data once the reader is upgraded. I'd hold off on
any changes in the system software, since the reader should plug & play. The last thing I
do is add software that came with some peripheral, when my system is otherwise fine.
{If the card in question is used in relation to a camera, for awhile, one can just plug the
    camera into the Mac and use that to read the card. I rarely use a card reader with mine;
    since the DSLR and other digital cameras transfer fast enough & with little battery loss.}
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • MacBook Pro won't read Sandisk SDHC cards since Lion 10.7.1 update

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I know there are dozens of posts about SD cards not working with MacBook pros, but mine seems to have started when I installed the latest Lion update.
I have a high-end 13" early 2011 MBP and the cards I'm having trouble with are all Sandisk 4GB SDHC. Two are 'Extreme III's" and one is an Extreme II. The card reader is showing up in System Profiler, and a really old 2GB Sandisk card gets read fine, so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the MBP hardware.
Similarly, I can read the cards fine via a USB adapter, so it's not the cards that are causing the problem.
I had successfully imported photos from the cards before upgrading to Lion, and also before installing the 10.7.1 update. So, it looks like the problem may be linked with the update, but this is purely an educated guess.
I've tried resetting the SMC to no avail.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?

I've got the same problem. I've got a late 2010 MacBook Pro unibody running Mac OS 10.7.1 on it. I installed the 10.7.1 updated most likely on 8/17/11 the day after it was released by Apple. Since then I was able to read SDHC cards as I shot a number of photos and videos to my cards and they worked fine.
I'm not sure what has changed since then, it wasn't as simple as the 10.7.1 update then it didn't work. This is the problem I'm having below, just started to experience this on 9/2/11. I tested with two 32GB SDHC cards, one 16GB SDHC card and one 2GB SD card. All cards were manufactured by Transcend.
    FAIL:
    * SDHC cards (16GB and 32GB) will not mount and isn't recognized by the MBP via the built-in SD card slot
    * SDHC cards (16GB and 32GB) will not mount and isn't recognized by the MBP via SanDisk 2.0 card reader connected via a short USB cable.
    * If I put any SDHC card into a SanDisk USB 2.0 reader that is connected to my USB hub (I gave it a try in case there was a power problem with the MBP USB system) the card is not recognized either.
    * Even Disk Utility will not see the card when inserted via built-in card slot or a reader.
    SUCCESS:
    * SD cards (2GB) mount fine when inserted either in the built-in SD card slot or via my SanDisk USB 2.0 reader.
    * If I leave the SDHC card in my camera (Canon 60D) and connect the camera to my MBP via USB I can import the images via Aperture.
    * If I put the SDHC card into the memory card slot reader of my HP inkjet printer (it has multiple card slots for different types) the card will mount normally like it is supposed to via the two failed methods above.
I'm also sending this info to Apple but wanted to post here since there are three inconvenient work-arounds.

  • SDHC card reader in Satellite A300-1MX?

    Hi everyone,
i bought a Toshiba Satellite A300-1MX back in October 2008, and now i wanted to buy an SDHC card, but I was wondering whether my laptop would support this "new"-ish card. The reason I want an SDHC is because it comes in bigger volumes.
So do you know if my laptop can read SDHC cards?
    Thanks so much,
    Sincerely,
    Alex

The Satellite Satellite A300-1MX card reader supports these cards:
    SD Card: 8MB-2GB
    SDHC Card: 4GB-16GB
    xD picture card: 16MB-2GB
    Memory Stick: 8MB-256MB
    Memory Stick Pro: 256MB-4GB
    MultiMediaCard: 8MB-2GB
    miniSD (with adapter): 32MB-2GB
    microSD (with adapter): 512MB-4GB
Memory Stick Pro Duo(with adapter): 256MB-4GB
As you see the SDHC is supported
