IMac fan on high - Apple store didn't find anything

Here's the issue. After the computer is on for a period of 10-15min, the fan begins to escalate until it gets to full blast...and it stays there!  After the computer is put to sleep or shut off for a long while, it goes back to normal until it starts up and then again on for 10-15min and issue comes back.  Putting the computer to sleep can be problematic and appears to be a little sluggish.  I took it to the Apple store.  They did a complete diagnostic test and said everything passed!  All hte sensors and boards are good.  They said it needed cleaning, so I left it there so they could take it apart and clean it.  Brought the computer home, and the same thing happens..NOT FIXED.  Any suggestions before I take it back to Apple?

Similar problem with my older 1.5 Intel mini. Just upgraded ram from 512 to 2 gb and now the fan is running on
full constantly, never stops except when off. I rechecked the fan control connection and all else seems
fine. Also did the SMC reset but no joy. The fan control app shows it at about 90 degrees and the fan at
5100 rpm.
Curious how long the fan will last at that speed or whatever anyone else has found out about a fix?
The machine seems to be operating normally, with a noticable increase in speed with the extra ram.
The Activity monitor shows the CPU at about 3% when idle.
Any ideas greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Carl

Please can anyone help with the continuing password rejection problem with email on my imac.My Ipad and other systems work fine but despite reloading my password on imac it bounces back.Apple store has been visited and I have tried everything they suggest.

I use free Yahoo mail webMail access because folders I created in webmail access doesn't get set up in Apple Mail. While I was searching for post about password and keychain issues, I stumbled on several threads that complain about Mail folder issues, so I'm holding off on Apple Mail.
On the password and keychain issue that your post is all about.  I've been using login keychain to save and automatical fill my login screens for a year or so successfully, with Safari and Chrome. Automatic form fill also works for Facebook login. Unfortunately, about 4 to 6 months ago, automatic password form fill stopped working with Yahoo webmail, while still worked for GMail (Safari and Chrome). I tried deleting the password entry for my two Yahoo email accounts to start fresh, but neither Safari not Chrome will even ask me if I want to save the password. I was so frustrated that I eventually installed the keypassX 0.43 (password manager) that is quite primitive sompare to OS X's keychain (when it works). Probably no surprise to you yet.
The surprise, to me at least, is that, for whatever reason, password auto form-fill from keychain started working again for Yahoo webmail login on Safari about 5-7 days ago. Still doesn't work on Chrome!
Two tips I can share, at least with webmail access:
    1. Password is save only for one of my yahoo mail accounts. When I login in with my other yahoo account, I get no prompt to save the password, and form fill doesn't work when I try to log in a second time with my other Yahoo mail account.
    2. On inspection of my login keychain, I see a webform password item saved for my Yahoo account that works with keychain. The name of the password is: login.yahoo.com(MyAccountName1#). When I open the password item and look in the Access Control tab, I see Safari and Chome are listed as allowed to access this password item..
I also an "Internet password" item with a name of just login.yahoo.com. When I open the the password item, it looks just like the password item created for MyAccountName#1, but the MyAccountName#2 is listed in the Account field. Inside the Access Control tab, no apps are listed in access permission. I added Safari and Chrome to the lists of allowed app, saved the password item.
Now when I bring up the Yahoo login page(by bookmark) on Safari, form fill fills in MyAccountname#1 for name and the proper password and I can login in. When I change the name to MyAccountName#2, the correct password is retrieved and I can log in! Alas, it still doesn't work on Chrome.
BTW, I changed the password item type from "Internet password" to "Web Form password" and saw no difference! I also edited the name to be "login.yahoo.com (MyAccountName#2)" to look like the web form password item that works, but it has no effect either.
From my experimentation, here's my observation:
    1. A Web Form password item is created for the first account name(MyAccountName#1) for login.yahoo.com and typed as Web Form password. When I log in using MyAccountName#2, an Internet Password is created, but no applications are listed as allowed to access the password item, even when the password item was created after just logged in and logged out to yahoo with the account name and password for MyAccountName#2.
    2. Manually adding Safari as an app that is allowed to use the password item works. Doesn't work with Chrome!
The version of Safari I'm using is Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2). My installed version of Chrome is Version 21.0.1180.79 beta.

  • My phone's earphone doesn't work which was bought from USA last month, the china apple store didn't accept the free repaired,so what can i do now?

my new iphone5s's earphone doesn't work which was bought from USA last month, probably it was cause by falling down on floor insidentally one day before I came back china , the problem is ,the china apple store didn't accept the free repaire even the phone was bought only one month age, I was so disappointed and realized the iphone 5s is so  fragile, although I previous iphone4 which was also bought from USA 4 years age, it also fell down many times, it still works well now.  what can i do now? send it back to USA for repairing? if like that,it will take almost two month to finish the all processes, that not only waste the time spent on the way, also waste expense on the expense, the important prlblem is,  I can't use the phone during the repairing~ please give me a solution as soon as you can ,thank you very much!

You can send it to someone you know in the US to have them take it in for service or you can get on a plane and take it there yourself. You can not ship it to Apple in the US for service.

  • If i buy imac(intel) in canada apple store and then after i want 2 gift my brother in india so u can ship it in india

if i buy imac(intel) in canada apple store and then after i want 2 gift my brother in india so u can ship it in india

You will need to ask the authorities in India and Canada, this is a technical help forum. I suspect you are simply trying to save your brother money however I suspect it would be easier and less expensive in the long term if he buys the system he wants in India.

  • If I buy an Imac in the online Apple store, would it come with Lion OS X?

If I buy an Imac in the online Apple store, would it come with Lion OS X?

    Yes you will.
I believe if you'd bought one before the release of Lion you'd also get a free upgrade from Snow Leopard (or at least this used to be the case for people that bought a Leopard machine the month before Snow Leopard came out).

  • We didn't find anything to show here in archived emails

We use Outlook as an email client, since we don't have a Exchange Server. When I make an archive 2 months ago, it works perfect, I could see all my older messages in my inbox and folder created.  For  some reason (I believe after the last office
update or patch), every time i make an archive, when I open the file this message appear  "We didn't find anything to show here in archived emails" and it's very annoying. Nothing appears even it says that there are unread emails on the folder.
    How can I fix it?

    Hi,
Please check if you have any filter applied to this folder, try to click "Clear All" on filter dialog and see if it works:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/outlook-help/view-settings-is-under-view-current-view-HT102769168.aspx
    Also, try to
use scanpst.exe tool to repair your archiver data file. Please refer to this article on how to use scanpst.exe:

    Hope this helps.

  • 24" iMacs in UK retail Apple stores?

Does anyone have any idea when the new 24" iMacs will be available to buy in UK Apple retails stores. I've phoned the Brent Cross and Regent Street stores to enquire about availability and they both said that they don't know when they are expecting them, in fact they said knobody at Apple does, it is for security reasons that knowbody knows.
Somebody must be able to give us UK folk an idea as to when we can expect them in the retail stores?

PC World only pays lip-service to Macs.
They only have a few of the good sellers (iMacs) and frequently these are old models.
Months after there have been model changes, I have seen only the old ones on display at their original prices when everyone else is selling them at highly discounted rates.
I suspect that naturally the Apple Stores get the first scarce shipments of new products and the independent store have to wait several weeks for theirs.

  • Apple store didn't know, called apple care, told to go back to store.

I'll try not to rant too much, but I'm a wee bit upset. I understand that the free/refunded bumper issue was just brought up yesterday, but I would have assumed they would have gotten their stores ready for this.
I went into the the apple store this morning (not expecting to get my refund today, but at least some info on how to get it, or a form to fill out) because I bought two bumpers for our to IP4's. It helps the death grip a bit, but not all the way. The Apple store 'genius' told me the that they didn't have all the info on the free ones yet, to check back another day, keep an eye online for info. I explained that I don't need one, I need a refund for the one I have. She acted like she didn't know anything about a refund, and then went to the back of the store to talk to someone and returned with the same story, we can't refund you one, we can give you one, but you'll have to wait until there is something online. I said I don't need another, I was looking for the refund. She said she didn't know what to tell me and to keep checking online.
I left a bit miffed so I called apple care, they said that since it was from a store, I needed to get it there, if I had bought it online, she could take care of me.
They had to expect people to head back into the stores for refunds.
Does anyone have any info? And don't flame me, I love my new phone, I'm just a little ticked that I'm getting the run around.
    Thanks

Ummm, no, it was during the Q&A, not the Press Conference. You fail.
During the Press Conference, he only mentioned that you'll get a refund for bumpers, but didn't go into detail regarding that.

  • Corp discount (FAN) customers and Apple Store upgrades?

Last year, for some reason anyone who had a corporate discount (FAN #) on their account could not upgrade at the Apple Store and had to do it through AT&T. I have not heard about any silly restrictions this year. Has anyone heard anything official?

Yes I'm having an issue trying to get a new 3Gs. The Apple store will only sell it at full price. When I called ATT (such dorks) they were an able to remove my FAN the account association which was blocking the purchase at the subsidized price. The apple store called ATT and after a half hour said I would have to try at the ATT store. Why I can't simply remove the FAN discount myself on their site I have no idea.

  • Picking Up the Quad Core 27 inch iMac in my local Apple Store

    Hey All!
I'm picking up a new iMac this friday at my local Apple Retail Store. I am going for the Quad Core model, now can I pick this up in the store or can I only order it on The Apple Online Store. If in retail store... Can I get i5 or i7 in store or just i5
    - Thanks!

That is correct . . . I bought my i5 at the local Apple Store but had to order my i7 from the on line Apple Store, however, yesterday I noticed that MacMall had i7s available for next day shipment.

  • I just got my Imac back from the Apple Store.  I have a startup tone but no sound,  The speaker Icon is not on.

My Imac was just repaired at Apple Store and I have no sound.  The Speaker Icon is not on???

Check the Sound system preferences. If the volume is turned up and the Mute checkbox is not marked, you don't have anything plugged into the headphone/output jack, and testing the Alert Volume on the Sound Effects pane doesn't generate a tone, then the technician may have failed to properly reconnect the speakers and you'll have to take the Mac back to the Apple Store. First, though, try resetting the PRAM:
