IMac Fans continue to run after iMac puts its self to sleep Automtically

My iMac fans continue to run when it puts its self to sleep using the energy saving preference pane in settings. The iMac sleeps normally, The Fans Turn Off, hard disk sleeps and all when i press the power button and do it manually but not when it does it automatically. Does anyone have a fix to this as i need it to sleep its self for the new free government EnberTech Power Saving AC adapters to automatically shut off all of my connected devices

  • Firefox process occasionally continues to run after closing browser in XP Pro 64 and uses 50% CPU

Every once in awhile after closing Firefox 3.6.13 the process continues to run. The way I discover this is my CPU temperature monitor is increasing from 36C to 50C, so I open the Task Manger and see that it is using 50% of the CPU, slowing down the computer. I am running XP Professional 64 bit SP2 with all the latest updates on an Intel E8400 3.0GHz overclocked to 3.6GHz and 4GB dual channel DDR2-1066 at 800MHz. This happens only occasionally, maybe once or twice a month. I just end the task and the temperature of the CPU drops and everything is normal again.

Norton IPS is apparently a known issue being mentioned in the KB articles:
    *[[firefox will not start]]
    * [[firefox crashes when you open it]]
    * I also found an earlier post on the Norton site http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Norton-IPS-1-0-Addon-for-FireFox/m-p/25425#M8494 but I am not sure this is still considered a problem.
What exactly is this IPS extension. I am currently using XPs with Norton's NIS (version 18.6 - it is a paid for subscription). I do have Intrusion Prevention active in NIS but I see no specific extension or program IPS. Is this some optional additional software?
I did find an explanation but from 2009

I am NOT using the Norton Toolbar etc. is it these components that are causing the problem i.e safe search etc.
I am not having problems with firefox hanging or continuing, despite using NIS.
There is a bug on this https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=548945 but that does not seem to have got very far in confirming or resolving the issue. I imagine Norton have a very large userbase and it seems unlikely that the basic NIS is itself incompatible with Firefox.

  • Satellite P850-30W - Fan does not run after coming back from sleep mode

    I got a Toshiba Satellite P850-30W with bios 1.90.
Sometimes the fan does not run at all after coming back from sleep mode on windows 7.
This has happened twice (maybe more times without me knowing), and Ive had the computers for a month.
Normally the fan starts running when the CPU gets over 50 celsius, and stops under 50 celisus...
I tried running Prime95 when this fan-issue occured and the computer temps got dangerously high (close to 100 degree)! the fan did not start at all
...this error could potentinally damage the laptop...
to get the fan running again I have to restart windows
    anyone else experienced this?
I guess the fix would be to never use sleep-mode...or toshiba needs to fix it with a bios update.

What kind of answer do you expect here in user community?
Exact info about the fault? I dont think that somebody would be able to provide exact answer but just speculations
In other Forum you can read about Satellite notebook; but is it exacts the same model?
No, it seems to be an L650 series. Its completely different series .
From my opinion its not software related problem.
    BIOS issue?
Well, in case it would be a BIOS issue, the problem would appear always and not sometimes after being shut down 200 times.
It could be a hardware related issue. Memory? Maybe
In my personal opinion to get more details hardware diagnostic software should be used in order check the hardware for possible malfunction. Thats my personal opinion

  • Do executables built with Labview 8 Evaluation continue to run after evaluation expires?

Over the last couple weeks I've been tasked with evaluating the Labview environment and coming up with a recommendation as to whether I think our company could benefit from buying a license or two. In that time I've developed a couple standalone executable vi's that have proved useful for some of the environmental testing we're doing here in the lab. These executables will likely remain useful in further revisions of the product being developed, so naturally my question is:
Once my evaluation copy expires, will my executables continue to run?
I assume they will, but I thought it would be better to be safe and ask anyways.
There you go, simple question, hopefully simple answer.
    Thanks!

    Hey Alex,
You should be good to go with the exes you build with your eval version. We don't place any timing restrictions on built executables. For more information on eval limitations see What Limitations Does the LabVIEW Evaluation Version Have?

  • JDBC Connection Jobs Continue to Run After Network Issues

We've got 7.0 SP13 installed in our DEV and QAS environments.  We connect to iSeries DB2 tables using a JDBC connection.  We recently experienced a network issue that shutdown PI.  Problem is that the system jobs used to connect to the iSeries are still running and still requiring more and more temporary storage.  We've rebooted our PI boxes but still these connection jobs continue to run and gobble up more memory.
Are we missing something in our configuration of these communication channels that will force these jobs to end???
    Thanks in advance,
    Chad

iSeries is on a separate server altogether.  JDBC connection to the iSeries is setup through the communication channel.
Problem is that the network issue that disconnected PI from the iSeries left these communication jobs running on the iSeries.
Rebooting PI only created MORE of these communication jobs.
Thanks for the reply VJ, but I don't believe the poll interval would help me in this case.

  • Closed lid, fan continued to run, body got extremely hot

My wife closed the lid to our early 2011 MBP (15" 2.0 GHz) and put it in the sleeve. After about 6 hours she went to use it and realized that the fan was going very loudly and the body was too hot for her to pick up. I took it out, opened it up to do a hard shut down, and let it cool for about 30 minutes. After that I booted it up and am using it to type this right now. Seems to be working fine, but has anyone else had this problem, and would you know what the cause may be?
    Message was edited by: chadwatson

It sounds like the computer didn't go into sleep mode properly and maybe even froze in an active state. Being in a sleeve it would be easy to overheat but I'm surprised it didn't self shutdown after reaching a high enough temp. I'm leaning on that it froze when you closed the lid and never went into sleep mode properly, which is why the safety never kicked in and let the computer heat up...

  • Can WIndows NT BDCs continue to run after running ntdomainmigration.sh?

I understand that after running the ntdomainmigration.sh script, the Mac OS X server open directory master will replace the Windows primary domain controller and the the PDC should be removed from service after the migration is complete. My question is about existing backup domain controllers. Can the BDCs continue to function normally? Obviously they wont have the ability to replicate the open directory information but can they continue to exist as windows only BDCs or do they need to be removed from the network. Thanks

    Hi
As far as I know only an Open Directory Replica can be an Open Directory Master’s BDC when the Master is also the PDC. Hence the suggested advice after running the script. I could be wrong though.

  • Why is Firefox continuing to run after I shut down the internet connection?

I am having a problem with Firefox not shutting down. I shut down the internet, then go back on later and I get an error message that Firefox is already running and that I will need to reboot my system to clear the problem. I am running Firefox 3.6.17 on Windows Xp with sp3. I tried running Firefox 4.0 and it just did not run at all so I went back to the previous version.

Hanging at exit is usually caused by and Extension or Plugin.
Sounds like it is hanging when you exit and later try to restart Firefox.

  • MacBook Pro late 2012 (non-retina) continues to run after lid closed; drains battery while in sleep mode; all of this since the 10.8.2 update – any ideas how to fix this?

    Hi all,
After the last combo update (10.8.2), my MacBook Pro has several issues. One of them is the greyed-out hibernation screen described here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20301110#20301110. But more distressingly, yesterday I closed the lid on it and heard music still playing. After 5 minutes I opened the lid, paused Itunes and then closed the lid again. It appeared to go to sleep, but the battery drained completely overnight.
SMC reset didn't seem to work. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I close out of an internet site and then go to another link and I get the box that says "Firefox is still running," I wait and try again and it still tells me this.I try several times,I then reboot and start over. How do I stop this?

Probably a problematic extension can cause the problem, see : [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox-hangs#w_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it Firefox hangs when you quit it]

  • Fans kept running after sleep

    Hi
    I got a MBP 13" running 10.6.5.
Recently I had everything new installed with the latest updates etc.
After putting my mac to sleep. I woke up 3 hours later and realized the fans were still running and it were hott. I know I put it to sleep. It didnt seem to wake up.... I just shut it down... and restarted.
But why did this happen? Do I have to worry about future problems?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for ur reply.
I am actually aware of the all the mentioned things in the video. But none of these things were involved actually. Since i am at home and not on the run I always put my mac to sleep while itunes is actually on, hence the fact that it stops playing when I close the lid.
It was just lying there on the table while itunes was running as usual (I have been doing this for the past 5 years... since it is at home I just close the lid). But anyways I did the ram reset and a smc reset.
Only things is, Why did it happen and I have never had it before. Besides, should i worry for the future?

  • Premiere.exe process continues to run

    Hi All,
I have experienced what I think is a bug in PPro CS5 on Win7. The application works great, but the exe process continues to run after I close the application. The process uses about 26% CPU, and if I then launch PPro and close it again, another exe process continues to run and the CPU usage is doubled. The orphan processes never quit by themselves, I have to manually kill them, nor does the CPU usage increase. The processes just continue to run. The behavior also occurs in Soundbooth CS5, but no other CS5 applications as far as I can tell. Anyone else have this issue?
    Win 7 Pro 64 bit
    Quad Core
    8 Gigs RAM
    Thanks,
    Danny Biando

In another thread on this subject, a user indicated he did some maintenance work to his system, after which the process no longer continued to run. One of the things he did was upgrade the video driver to the latest release, 197.45. I did that this morning and problem solved. The release notes for this driver update indicate some changes to be more compatible with Premiere CS5. I also noticed that the CPU usage on startup and when the application is idling is less than before.
