Important: mende's suggestion will remove everything from your Desktop, not just the jpegs. Not good. Do the following instead. Open Terminal in Utilities and copy/paste, then hit return after each. The second will create a folder on the Desktop called "photos." The third command will move all of them into that new folder, "photos" This will save them. These commands assume you are logged into the account with the troubled Desktop.
cd ~/Desktop
mkdir photos
mv *.jpg photos/
If you don't care about saving them then the following will delete them. (It is critical that you only use copy/paste.)
cd ~/Desktop
rm *.jpg

You don’t install VS2010 on the client PC, then where did the Form Invoice not work? When you run it from another version of VS? Or when you run the application with application.exe?
Based on your description, one form works well, another form does not. I assume that two forms are in two different projects, then please check the .Net Framework used by the two projects. If they are different, you can use the
one used by the Form contact for Form Invoice.
Because this issue is a project issue, I recommend you to consult it on some application forum such as Windows Forms General forum for better support.

Finder frozen after accidentally dropping 200 picture files on it

I was dragging 200+ picture files from a folder on my desktop to the trash when I missed the trash and they started filling my desktop with all their tiny icons...... it seems to be spending time trying to convert the icons to their thumb nail images..... it has piled loads of them on top of my hard drive icon..... nothing works...... I have let it sit there for over an hour and still no control..... I have force quit the finder but same problem on relaunch....... I have restarted but always the same problem....... I am panicing....... any help would be greatly appreciated........

I just happened to notice from your post you've had the same problem I had just about 3 weeks ago. Only - I "exported" over 2,500 frames of a QT movie onto the desktop (just didn't notice I'd clicked on the wrong "target folder.")
Spent a long, anxious afternoon before hitting on a bit faster way of deleting those jpegs. Here it is, for what it may be worth to others with the same problem;
1. Switch to your "alternate user" account - whatever you've named it.
This will give you a completely clutter free desktop and working finder!
2. You will know ahead of time which level of permissions you have in this account - if you've set this account up with elevated permissions (the normal recommendation) - you will have no trouble navigating to "your" (clogged) desktop folder, opening it and deleting those files while working FROM your alternate account.
2.b If you have not given the alternate account admin privileges, then, when you attempt to open "your" desktop folder a dialogue will pop up telling you so. You can still use "Get Info" on the desktop folder to change permissions.
OS X will ask for your master password every so often during the deletion processs - which of course you should know or have ready access to.
The other advantage - as I recall - is that you can delete much larger "batches" of files without stopping the Trash from working (I was deleting at least 20 at a time) - but you should still empty trash after each group of files is deposited there.
---- So there it is: a 2nd way to get out of this rather scary bind.

IMac froze after downloading updates!

I have a brand new iMac, and it's frozen after downloading the current updates. I don't know what to do, and would appreciate any help!
It's straight out of the box today, all i've done is installed iWork and downloaded Messenger for Mac. Then i downloaded the 15 updates that Leopard told me i needed, which went through fine. Then it told me i needed to reset, again fine. But now it's frozen on a screen that's blank except for a window that says "Installing 15 items (progress bar) Configuring Installation." The mouse moves, but the progress bar hasn't changed in the last three hours.
Apple support is closed for Easter and i'd love to know what to do before Tuesday!

Shut down the iMac by pressing the power on button at the back. This should switch it off. Next find the installer disk that came with the iMac and switch the iMac back on. Insert the installer disk as you do this. Once the disk is in the drive hold down the C key. Keep your finger on the C key until you are presented with a dialog box welcoming you to the installer. Leave the selected language as English. Click Continue and keep clicking Continue and agreeing to whatever is presented to you until you come to the part that the Installer asks you where you want to install Leopard. You will see an icon of your hard drive. Select it and you should see a yellow warning traingle. Below the icon should be an options button, click on this and select Install and Archive and make sure Preserve Network Users and Settings is checked. Click OK and click Continue. At the next windows click Continue. The Installer Assistant should re-install a clean version Leopard for you. You should see a window at this point that informs you that the Installer is checking your Installer DVD. Click Skip to speed the installation up. It takes - offhand - approx 35mins to 1 hour from there.
When Leopard has finished installing you should now be at the point where you ran Software Update. When Software Update runs quit it and click this link:

Download this file and run the installer locally. Once it has installed and the mac has restarted run Software Update again and install the remaining Updates.

T61p will not boot (no fan, hard drive or drisplay response) after accidental drop

I'm hoping that someone much more knowledgeable than me can help me with my problem. The other day, my laptop tumbled out of my trunk and onto the floor. The following morning, I tried booting the laptop and nothing happened. No hard drive spinning, no fan and no display.
When on ac power, the plug icon is lit. When I press the power button, nothing happens, although the power icon remains lit. When on battery and battery + ac power the same situations occur. The battery and/or plug icon remain lit while I press the power button, and nothing happens.
I have tried reseating the memory and the hard drive, but the situation remains the same.
I'm really hoping that this won't involve a motherboard replacement, as I'm out of warranty. If it does lead up to a motherboard replacement, can anyone give me a ballpark on how much parts and labor would cost? Maybe it's better to just buy a new machine.

this is a hard diagnose to make.
If you had the mini dock or something, you could try to use the external switch to power up the laptop. If that doesn't work then there is probably some major hardware fault.
Have you tried to reseat the CPU on the laptop?
The cost of repair would be prohibitive as the repairer has to work his way through to find the fault. The second hand motherboard on ebay are not 100% in terms of quality, as they may contain faulty GPU.
The cost of the motherboard from IBM parts would be 500 dollars plus.

Need help restoring original desktop after crash and new install

Question: is there a way to restore my original desktop?
My system starting giving me kernel errors. I was running Member when it crashed. I did a restart and the mouse would no longer work. Tried starting in safe mode. Mouse still refused to work. Removed most of my memory and restarted but mouse still would not work. Finally got the mouse to move in safe mode. Set my system to start from a different hard drive. This time the mouse worked fine. Ran memory check from this secondary driver and ALL memory checked out fine. Restarted computer with the original drive and once again the mouse would not work.
Finally, I re-loaded OS 10.4 plus ran all updates. I first tried to load it keeping all the setting but this made the system lock up and the computer would not restart without the CD. Finally, re-loaded 10.4 and archived original desktop.
Question: is there a way to restore my original desktop?
I found a folder that has the desktop stuff in it but some seems to be missing...
AND I cannot find any of my previous mail that had been saved. I'm sure (I hope) that it is here, but don't know where or how to set it back up.
I still don't know what caused the original problem...

"If you performed an Archive & Install of Mac OS X and did not use the "Preserve Users and Network Settings" option, then everything that was in your old user account, including your Mail, is gone. Before performing an Archive and Install without that option, you should have made a complete backup of the affected hard drive using a comprehensive Backup and Recovery solution.
While it's unclear what you mean by "archived original desktop." If you mean you used Create Archive to create an Archive (.zip file) of your previous Home > Desktop folder before performing the Archive & Install, then only the files and folders that were saved on the Desktop at that time would be preserved. Mail was saved in your Home > Library > Mail folder, which the Archive & Install replaced if you failed to use the "Preserve Users and Network Settings" option.
If any e-mail files are still on the hard drive in question, then the instructions in my "Data Recovery" FAQ may help you find them, but I suspect they are all gone.

IMac 27" with Lion upgrade ... daily hangs! Need help and support

Dear Apple,
Mid-July we got an iMac27" with Snow Leopard installed. First week of August I upgraded to Lion via web download (from Apple Store).
Since then the iMac has frequently hung. It goes in two stages: 1) the cursor gets round with rolling colors for some time (the "force quit" or "shutdown" menu selections cannot be accessed because the mouse gets inactive for clicks), then 2) the cursor gets in the middle of the screen and resembles the gray round that rotates when the iMac starts up (but without the gray apple above it this time) ... it stays in that mode indefintely. I then have to shut it down via the back lower left button and start again. Now it goes into that "routine" almost daily.
All softwares are up-to-date. I have also performed three of four times now the "Alt at start" manoeuvre, check disk and permissions with repair.
Is it because of the Lion upgrade (instead of a fresh install)? (If so, how do I perform a fresh install and keep all settings/preferences.) Is it hardware-related ... although it looks like working quite good? Is it software-related ... how to clean everything?
In case such issue has not yet come up I will need to call the Apple help center. Can a phone number be provided? Thanks.

Your situation sounds identical to mine. But, with a 27" 2010 iMac and a 2009 Mac pro. Constant freezes, hangs, programs not quiting, unable to restart , shutdown.
I did a full re-install of Lion on both the iMac and Mac pro, including a full initialization of he disk, and, instead of migrating all my apps and data from time capsule, I individually re-installed each app.
Nada!..same problem..
On this past Monday, I reformatted my Macpro and re-installd Snow Leopard - it works perfect now!
Lion has got to be the worst product Apple has ever released. I have no idea why it works on so many Macs, when it seems to be so bad on many as well.

Help! Working on a book to be printed in two days. Accidentally saved it as .indb when I need it to be .indd. Now I don't know how to open/view it. What can I do and how can I convert it to .indd?

I've tried looking up ways to open the file because this needs to be done ASAP. Making a copy of the file and opening it seems to be working for others but there is no results for me.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to save a .indd document file as a .indb book file (which is really a collection of pointers to .indd files), so you haven't actually destroyed the file. Either it is lurking someplace undamaged, or you accidentally saved it as a Document, but used the wrong extension, and changing the extension from .indb back to .indd is all it will take to repair. If that doesn't work, it isn't a document with the wrong extension and you need to do a file search for the real one.
