IMac G4 Desktop (Lampbase) with 512 memory.  Will +256 work 4 Leopard?

I have an iMac G4 desktop (lampbase) with 1.25 gz process, and I doubled the Ram when I bought it (2x 256, or 512 total).
Came with 10.3. I wish to upgrade to 10.5 so that the kids new ipods can work on it (bummer they don't work with 10.3, as it was running nicely).
It appears, after opening the bottom of the computer, that I can EASILY replace the 256 that is there already and replace with a new 512. That will give me, what 768?
Will that be enough to run 10.5?
I know some people say update to 1 gig (2 x 512). But to replace that 2nd 256 with a 512 appears a little scary to me. More screws and opening the bottom of the computer into the unknown.
And, whereas the manual that came with it says I can add the first card,it says to go to dealer/provider to replace that 2nd one that is inside and hidden.
Q: Will I be okay with a 256 and a 512 for 768total? OR will I regret not going 1g?
AND: can I do that myself? How (link)?
thank you!!

The minimum for Leopard is 512 so you really don't need to add anything but the more memory, the better.
I would go ahead and put a 512 MB chip in it now. That will give you 768 MB.
See how the machine runs for you. You can always add the other 512 later if you so choose.
The max for your machine is 1 GB but as you found out, the other 512 is a little more difficult to install.
I had 512 MB in my MacMini and it ran OK so yours should do even better with 768.

i upgrade my i cloud memory will it work on my i phone i pad and mac

When you upgrade icloud memory, you are buying more "disk" space on iCloud's servers.  This has nothing to do with iPad or Mac memory.  Each device will then be able to use that added space on iCloud for backups and storage of compatible files.

i'm looking for the adobe suite 5.5 and it says it will only work on leopard or snow leopard... but i'm running on lion... anyone know what to do here?

    Hi.
I'm guessing that you'r not buying a new edition of the Adobe Suite 5.5.
Apparently Adobe haven't been awake to make sure the 5.5 is 100% compatiable with Lion. However, I do believe it's only a few minor troubles you will experince and Adobe constantly update their software to adjust to Lion.
You should go to Adobe.com and see the list of known issues.
    Best regards.

  • Adobe CS2 will not work in Leopard

Did you know *_Adobe CS2 will not work in Leopard?_* I found out the hard way that Leopard doesn't cost $129; It's $729, because CS2 will not work so you need to upgrade to CS3. This is straight from Adobe support (albeit in Manilla). I can find no documentation on either site that warns you not to upgrade to Leopard if you're running CS2. I am dead in the water until CS3 arrives. Nice move Apple and Adobe. I usually like to get kissed first.

I'm using Adobe Photohsop CS1 and it is working. There are a couple of little glitches, but nothing major. And whenever there is a major system upgrade you can ALWAYS figure there are some things that are going to break, which is why it is a good plan to install a new system on a new drive or second partition. AFAIK the things that don't work and will never work are Photoshop 7 and Elements 2.

  • Will older Mac with 512 memory be able to work with 10.6?

My present Mac is probably 3.5 years old. It has 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo with *512 MB memory* at 667MHZ Ram. I have continually downloaded the latest OS versions and I assume 10.4.11 (what I have now) is probably the last I can get until I upgrade to 10.6.
I thought I read in the requirements for 10.6 that I should have 1 GB of memory. Will my present Mac handle 10.6?
My problem was (is) that I just bought the airport express 802.11n Wi-Fi Base station and it requires the 10.6 OS.
    thnx ....Brad

There's nothing on Apple's web site that indicates that 10.6 is required for the airport express WiFi router. Its possible that the router ships with the newest version of the Airport administration software which might require 10.6 though. Have you tried using the Airport Utility software that's installed on your computer?
If the specs are incorrect and 10.6 is required to administrate the router, it would still work with your older computer. You'd just have to borrow a friend's computer to configure the router.

  • 3G SIM with internet only, will it work?

    Hey,
I am going to China and I would like to have internet there. I am planning on buying a SIM card on Ebay which allows me to have 3G in china. If I replace my current SIM with this 3G only sim, will that work? I know I won't be able to call and that the SIM has to be a nano-SIM. I know it works on iPads, but since the iPhone can also call, I am not sure if it accepts 3G only SIMs.
About my iPhone: Apple iPhone  5 32GB Black GSM Officially Unlocked MD295LL/A
    Regards,
    Cas

Sim cards need to be activated with a carrier to work so what features you want or don't want you'll have to ask the carrier for options. You're phone will also have to be compatible with the carrier.

  • HT4381 I bought an Apple TV at an Apple store in the USA with a USA plug (110).  I am now in Switzerland with 220v.  Will it work on 220 without a converter?

I bought an Aspple TV at an Apple store in the USA  (110 v) and now am in Switzerland (220v) ans so far afraid to plug it in to the 220 socket.  Will it work okay without an external 220 v converter?

yeah and the connector in the appletv is std also used by my ps2 and old cdplayer so you need just get a new cable  then you don't need to use a plug converter

  • Will It Work on Leopard: iMac Late 2009 with Quad Core i7, 8GB and 4850 Mobility GPU

Hi. I'm doing an experiment if the garbled screen (unreadable but the OS and files are not being corrupted at all) I'm experiencing since I upgraded to Lion (up to Yosemite) is a software bug (specifically when it's running it's 3D drivers) or a hardware bug (possibly the GPU is failing). I would rule it as a hardware, that the iMac's GPU is failing but when I used Ubuntu 14.04 Live CD which does not use any of the 3D drivers (it doesn't use OpenGL) for its 3D acceleration, it's perfect there which is why I feel it may be a software bug- no problems with 3D acceleration.
If Leopard would work on the late 2009 iMac with i7 quad core, that'd be great.
    Thank you in advance.
    God bless, Rev. 21:4

The only issue I have found is that the there are no additonal display resolution settings to adjust.
So the iMac is stuck with its native resolution in OS X 10.5.8 Leopard (I hate the iMac's 2550 x 1900 resolution. Everything is just too small for my 50 year old eyes.)
You can adjust the size of icons and icon text size in the Finder Prefs and View Options, you can adjust the Dock size, but that is pretty much it.
No way to adjust the size of the text in the top main menu bar or make the text in the title bar on Finder windows larger, either.
    But everything else works.
I can access all of my other external drives, most of the applications, that are mostly updated to work just with OS X 10.5.8 Leopard, launch and work fine. My Wacom Intuous3 tablet seems to work fine add I can adjust the preferences and controls of all of by pens and airbrush tool.
My older IR Microsoft and Logitech mice work fine.
I can't believe how much faster OS X 10.5.8 runs on this iMac.
If I hadn't updated all of my Apple apps on OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and all my updated iTunes, iPhoto and Aperture Libraries, long ago, needed more up to date web browsers (TenFourFox wasn't available back in 2011) and Mail clients, more up to date Flash and security updates, I might have just stayed using OS X 10.5 Leopard on this iMac.
It is quite a bit faster than Snow Leopard. Even that much faster considering I am  running OS X 10.5.8 from my external FW800 drive.

  • Contact phone numbers with ext. numbers will not work from old phone

When trying to use a contact number with an ext. the phone will say I do not have long distance nor international dialing on my plan.My previous phone was a LG Dare which allowed for the number to be dialed and the ext was then dialed after a release button was pressed. Any thoughts?

You can enter your contact number in your phonebook/contacts with a comma or two between the number and extension.  A comma should wait 2 seconds and then dial the extension, 2 commas 4  seconds, etc
    1234567890,1234
Or you can try a ; (semi-colon) to pause and ask for you to dial an extension.  I don't know if this works on a GS3 or not

  • Mainstage crashes with certain memory upgrade that work with other programs

I updated my memory from 2G to 4 but selected a cheaper brand that had good feedback. It works fine with all the programs but Mainstage seems to need a certain quality memory as the program crashed all the time after several minutes or so of playing, but oddly, the program completely disappeared from my screen when it crashed with the rest of the computer (a Macbook Pro 2.2) working fine. When I put the old memory back (2Gig) in it only crashed when the memory was full as it fills up continually, bit by bit, while you are playing. Anyway, I thought I would mention this in case someone has the same problem with a more 'value' memory. I am RMAing it and getting a better brand. This originally did this in Leopard but downgrading to Tiger I found the same problem. I am also using a Firewire rack, sound card. RME Fireface 800 that makes the instruments sound phenominal, I might say though may be consider overkill.

I've used a number of budget Ram sticks in my day, and have never heard of Ram that is working properly but can't handle a load that another stick of the same type and capacity could handle. I do know that you're supposed to put 'matched pairs' into those MBP's in order to get the highest performance. If anyone reading this has more insight on the particular question, (ie. can certain brands of Ram not perform the same as other brands, excluding sticks that are faulty or damaged), I'd love to hear.
I'm glad you're up and running, and I hope it wasn't the Ram since the Mainstage update seems to have alleviated the problem for you. Rember is the same test as Memtest, but with Memtest you boot up from the console, so it can check every sector of the Ram. Rember runs while you're running OSX so parts of the Ram can't be tested since it's being used by the OS.

  • Desktop motherboards with Killer Network: Does it work while using wif-fi?

So as the title asks, with the mobos offering Killer E2205 or any of the recent versions. Do they work with wireless connections?

What do you man exactly? Using the Killer ethernet while running a Wi-Fi connection at the same time? If so, yes that works. If you want to know if the Wireless is also Killer then no, it is not. Only ethernet is a Killer device on MSI desktop mainboards.

  • IMovie '06 with iLife '08-Will it work?

I recently purchased iLife '08. When i installed it, it warned me that my hardware was inadequate for running the new version of iMovie. It installed everything else, but left my old iMovie alone.
Does anyone know if I will still be able to put together slide shows using a combination of the new iPhoto, and iDVD with the older iMovie? Or am I stuck?
    Thanks for your help.

Does anyone know if I will still be able to put together slide shows using a combination of the new iPhoto, and iDVD with the older iMovie? Or am I stuck?
You are NOT "stuck" I have a new Intel Mac and I use iMovie 06 and iDVD 08 by choice.

  • Using Lacie DVD enclosure with new HDD : Will it work ?

May be a silly question. Seems that my Lacie Firewire 400 External DVD burner with a 7.5 " enclosure is no longer working. Should I decide to buy an External Drive
for my Powermac G4. Will I encounter any difficulties installing the drive ?
    Comments welcome.

With FireWire, you may not have any problems, but there's always the possibility that the bridge board in the enclosure isn't programmed for use with a hard drive (fixed media). An optical drive is classified as a removable media device. I tried connecting a hard drive to the bridge board from a Sony DVD burner enclosure with FireWire/USB 2.0 connectivity, but it wasn't recognized. Try it - you won't damage anything, but make sure the hard drive is configured as "master" and not the factory default of "cable select."

  • Pairing with Blackberry Storm will not work

I have been trying all day to get my IPad2 to Bluetooth pair with my Blackberry Storm2.
The BB has 'found' the IPad but the Ipad will not 'find' the BB.  I know I probably missed one
little step, but I'm not getting it right for some reason.  Thanks for anyone's help.

What are hoping to do via bluetooth between the two ? Bluetooth on the iPad is aimed at devices such as headphones and keyboards - the bluetooth profiles that are supported by the iPad are listed on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
