IMac G4 Upgrade

Hello. Is it possible to upgrade an old iMac G4 to the level of modern computer? Now processor in the iMac G4 is very weak (1.25 GHz PowerPC G4).

As others have said, the answer is basically no. You can add RAM, but that won't get you any closer to current as far as application compatibility or running a more modern version of the OS.
Your best bet would be to look at a new machine. I know it's expensive, but you're getting a lot more than just a processor upgrade. Since the days of the G4 iMac, just about every component (or subsystem) inside the machine has seen some major improvements. Not just a faster CPU and more memory, but a MUCH faster graphics chip (even the least expensive iMac has a fast GPU), faster (and larger) hard drive, better display, and even improved I/O (stuff like USB ports). You also get the latest version of Mac OS and iLife, it's quite a bit of bang for your hard-earned buck.
To get an idea of how much faster a new machine might be overall, you can take a peek at the GeekBench (Mac Benchmark app) results. An 744MHz iMac G4 gets a score of 349, which wasn't bad back in the day. The lowest score of any of the 2011 iMacs is 7,185. Yes, that's 20 times faster.

I can't set up iCloud drive on my iMac after upgrading to Yosemite - iPhone and iPad are updated but both say my iMac isn't (even though it is running Yosemite).
My iMac is OS X Yosemite 10.10 (14A389), memory is 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 and storage capacity is 273.64 free of 999.35 GB.
When i go to System Preferences and click on iCloud. The iCloud Drive section is greyed out and says setting up and a spinning pin wheel. It stays like this the whole time. I have tried restarting the computer. i amanita sure what else to do to make it work. Any suggestion would be great.

I found another way to correct this...
1) Select Message, then go to Preferences,
2) a window will appear with 3 options, General, Accounts, Audio Video, don't be surprised when you see a video of yourself, your camera just turned on.
3) Select Accounts (you may have several here)
4) Select the account that has "iMessage" under the account name. This may likely be your Apple ID ****@me.com
5) Look at what is checked under the "You can be reached for messages at:"
6) Select the one account (or more if you like) and deselect the others
7) Close the window and the problem goes away.
I'm not longer getting my sons iMessages.

Hi,
Open the Messages app.
Go to the Preferences item in the app's Menu.
Select the account pane in the Preferences.
Each active account should have a tick in the Enable this Account box.
This can be unticked.
This will stop accounts logging in but will not stop the app Launching in certain circumstances.
First of all check the app is Quit before shutting down the computer.
The fact the app is open even if all windows are hidden can cause the app to restart when you Start up the computer.
Messages is a Multiple window app and using the red button on the top left of a window only closes that window and does not Quit the app.
Also check the System Preferences > Users and Groups > your account > Login Items tab.
This will list items that are set to Start up when the computer does.
I have a couple of External Drive on other computers, some Anti Virus software and the common iTunes Helper plus an old version of TextExpander that will work if I launch the Preference Pane this way.

Did you do an erase and install of Mt Lion? In any case you'll have to reinstall iWeb from its original source. Did iWeb come with your computer? If so you should have a couple of disks that came with your Mac and one of them will have the Bundled Software Install package on it. Like one of these:
Be sure to update iWeb to the latest and last version, 3.0.4, from Apple Downloads web page.

It isn't happening to everyone else, but if there was a trend of it happening to a lot of people, that would probably show up in the official InDesign user forum. But there aren't a lot of crash reports there, so it isn't something that's happening to everyone. There are a couple, so you might look at those. But since there is not a huge wave of crash reports, the problem might be more related to a problem on the system rather than a problem with InDesign, like a corrupted font.
The best place to troubleshoot is probably over at the Adobe forum since the users there know InDesign very well.

First, forget about a virus. There are NO documented viruses that affect a Mac running OS X - none.
Do you have about 10-15% of the HD free at all times?
Open activity monitor and see what is taking the processor capacity.

When you logout did you uncheck the Reopen windows when logging back in check box at the bottom of the logout window.

I can't get my Photo stream to show up on my iMac since upgrading to Photos.
It seems that I have to buy storage for all my photos (18,000+) to get Photos to stream.
Works on my iPhone and iPad.

Are you saying that Mail faIled to upgrade and you lost your old mail?

I'm not too keen on automatic updates. They can slow down your tasks, and a simple banner ad from a phishing site can make it look like an update is coming, when there is none there, and have you download a trojan horse. It is best to get it from the source directly.

According to MacTracker, your machine has these specs. Note that Apple says only 16 GB supported, but they claim it'll work w/32 GB, so install them and see what happens.

I have an iMac I purchased in 2007, along with all new software. I now find I need to upgrade my software, but cannot also afford to buy a new computer. It's ridiculous that a 3 year old computer is obsolete. Especially at these prices.
Rant finished. Please help. Can I add memory, ram, a new video card? I'm a designer... not a mechanic. Apple just wants me to buy a new machine - they offer no help at all.

You can run either Leopard or Snow Leopard on your iMac.
+(I ran Leopard on my 4,1 Core Duo for over a year and now run Snow Leopard without issue)+
Apple no longer sells or updates Leopard, so if you want Leopard you will have to find a black Retail Leopard Upgrade Disk on E-Bay or somewhere like that.
2GB is enough for OS X, but I suggest that you upgrade to 4GB of RAM for CS5

Your computer meets all the requirements, but you need to use a retail DVD to upgrade. A different Mac model's original disks won't work.

I get the SBBOD all of the time no matter what. I've tried all of the suggestions to resolve that issue but they don't work. Even when only one program is open at a time it does it. The speed of getting anything accomplished has been dramatically reduced over time. All of my software is up to date. All I need to know is, if I take my iMac to an Apple store, can they upgrade the RAM or whatever is needed to make the SBBOD go away and make things work faster? Sorry for sounding like a dummy here but I'm really not interested in how it works, just that it does work.
