IMac G5 17" Mac OS X 10.5.6 Install Problems

I go my hands on an old imac 17" G5. I know OS 10.5.6 or lower will only work with these older machines.
I am trying install 10.5.6 iso install onto a SDHC 16gb card. I am having trouble though. I am making the SDHC as a boot up disc but when i boot up i am getting kernal panic errors. What am I doing wrong when prepping this to install on the older imac?

You can't boot from a disc image or indeed an SD card. PPC Macs (with rare exceptions) will boot from an external firewire drive, but not USB ones.
To install 10.5.6 you need a retail Leopard DVD pt. no. MC094Z/A (single-user) or MC095Z/A (5-user family pack).
Once installed you can use the combo updater to go to 10.5.8 (the final update for Leopard).

There is only one installer.
No, there isn't. If downloading the original ZIP file from Red Giant Software, it contains a set of sub-folders with different versions. CS4 is intel only. Unlike CS3 it does no longer support PPC code. Therefore any such plug-ins will not show up in CS4 unless you install the correct version, which is what you do when installing from the sub-folder I mentioned. So by all means, run that installer.

I want to move my itunes movies from my iMac to my Mac Mini, which is hooked up to my HDTV, so that I can save space on the iMac and use the direct source Mac Mini to view the iTunes movies that I purchase and download. Can anyone give me ideas on how to do that?

iTunes does not have provision for automatically storing one kind of media on a separate drive, so you have some basic decisions to make first. Do you want these movies to still appear in your iTunes library, or are you content with browsing filenames on a drive in Finder when you want to look for one? The second's the easiest thing because then you don't have to have an external drive permanently turned on and attached to your computer (wired or wireless). To do that you literelly only need to drag your movies folder to an archive drive and delete movies from iTunes. To watch them again you can add it back to iTunes while holding down the option key so the movie is used from its location on the external drive.
There's ways to move the movies to an external drive while keeping them in iTunes but the external drive iwll always have to be turned on and connected to the computer or you will see a bunch of broken link exclamation marks.
Realize what you are talking about is not "backup". Backup (which you should do) is putting a second or more copy of items on external drives for the day when your internal drive fails and everything on it is lost, inclduing all your home photos and perhaps things that have been pulled from the iTunes Store and can no longer be re-downloaded.

You can control your mini (which I am assuming you are hooking to your TV) complete from your iMac.
After you set up screen sharing, you can go to the finder, under the "go" menu choose "Connect to server" and then browse. Choose your mac mini's name, and look for the "Screen Sharing" button.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Sharing.
Select the Screen Sharing checkbox.
To specify who can share your screen, select one of the following:
All users:
Select this if you want to allow any user with a user account on your computer to share your screen.

Hi, I have backed up 2 IMACs and one Mac Book Pro but for some reason, the 3rd IMAC come up with this problem: The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/Anthony’s iMac.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1). I have never had any problems with my G5, it's been my awesome helper these past 7 years, I can't say the same thing for my new Mac, but it seems now my poor G5 is slowly being made redundent because they no longer write software for it.
I don't see why i should pay for a new Mac because my old one does not always function on the web, or having a new printer because it does not support the new software.
My New Mac Laptop has had no end of troubles since i bought it less than a year ago.
What happened to Mac being a sign of Quality??

My iMac keeps typing a minus sign. I switched my wireless keyboard for a plug in Windows keyboard, and it keeps typing this one character. I took the batteries out of the Mac keyboard, so that is not the problem. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Upgrading OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion) is not an update. It is a paid upgrade. Just as with 10.7 (Lion) you must purchase it from the App Store with yor Apple ID and install it after backing up your current computer state for safety.

The iMac G3s with a clock speed of 400 MHz or faster, has an internal slot for the original AirPort card. The AirPort card adapter is also required to use the card in an iMac G3. The AirPort Extreme card is NOT compatible.

Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant do not restore MS Windows, it only does the OS X partition. All of your Windows stuff must be backed up and restore using a MS Windows application. If no one on this forum is able to answer your question then I'd repost it on a Parallels forum to see how other Windows users approach this.

With Mac Pros you can add fiberoptic PCIe Cards. With iMacs you have to settle for Thunderbolt, which isn't bad, but not quite as fast. With Mac Pros you can have four built-in SATA drives.
With iMacs you are stuck with one, and based on the latest info from http://www.macsales.com/ the internal iMac hard drive is not removable! So if it dies, you are left with external drives and the built-in optical as your only choice. With Mac Pros, you can expand your RAM more.
With Mac Pros the processor is frequently more powerful if your software desires it, and your graphics processor can be too if you desire it. If you don't think you'll need it, after examing the machines at the Apple Store, the iMac is a great machine.

No. Open the App Store on one computer running Snow Leopard. Purchase and download Lion. On the other computer open the App Store, log on using the same Apple ID, re-download Lion at no extra charge.
