IMAC G5 20/2.1 can't wait to get it.

I am waiting for my new IMACG5 20/2.1 to arrive (counting the hours). I have been using my G4 867 (what a machine) & loved it from day one with no hardware or software problems, Please no jokes on the loved Bit.
My question is to all IMAC G5 users was it a good buy compared to the desktops.

Congratulations! I just bought mine 1 1/2 weeks ago and it's been fast and flawless! You made a wise decision in my opinion.
I have a Mac Mini that's been absolutely flawless since I bought it last February! That was my very first Mac. When Apple announced they were going to replace the G5 chips, I immediately set out to sell anything and everything I could to get me one before I lost out. Also, I got tired of envying everyone else who had one.
I've compared both the Intel Duo iMacs and the G5 iMacs. In my opinion....the G5 was the better machine! I didn't notice a speed advantage on either one. However, I bought my G5 and took it home and set it up and let me just say.....
I'm in absolute awe! This baby is fast! Flawless! Sweet! Amazing! Now I'm scrambling to get more money together for another one as I DEFINITELY WANT ANOTHER G5 ON MY DESKTOP! Mainly I'll keep it available as a backup for later use while....or until....I wear this one out. It's ALL I NEED! And more!
Again...this is my personal experience and opinion. And I'm a VERY HAPPY & PROUD AUTHENTIC G5 MAC OWNER!!!

  • If you can't wait to get your feet wet with Blu-Ray or HD DVD...

    ...then dive in
    Scenarist 4

And check your pockets and the couch for some loose change: 8/
Apparently Scenarist Blu-Ray is available for a mere $59,999, the HD version for the same measly $59,999 and the matching encoder,
    CineVision
, goes for just $69,999. Or get the real deal: Buy all three, for only $149,999. B) XD

The pricing is truly scary, considering there are no final specs for BRD as yet.
Seems it is effectively telling all small authoring houses to go to hell. Any bets the counter effect of this is going to be a rapid way of ensuring it's early demise?
The "additional" CineVision seems to be mandatory as well, unless of course you already have the following:
    VC1 encoder
    H.264 encoder
    HD compatible MPEG-2 encoder
    Dolby Media Encoder
DTS-HD encoder (always assuming these latter 2 are included. If not, then be prepared to stump up another $8,000 for the Dolby Media Encoder, Mac OSX only, Beta only)
    See http://www.sonic.com/products/Professional/CineVision/quicklook.aspx
    for full details.
It is also going to ensure that SD DVD (To think I got so much
    i stick
in other places for using that acronym a few months back too)
is not going anywhere for a good few years as yet.

  • Do I need to get Applecare right away or can I wait 11 months?

    Hi,
I am looking into a new 14"iBook and I know alot of you recommend getting the extra coverage that comes with Applecare. My question is do I need to purchase Applecare when I purchase my iBook or can I wait 11 months after the purchase of my iBook and then purchase it?
    Thom

    Hi Thom F,
Yes, I believe you can. In the AppleCare Support PDF it says:
To qualify for the AppleCare Protection Plan, your product must be within its one-year Apple hardware warranty.
    I hope that helps,

How fast is your download speed? If it's less than 10Mbps, it's going to take hours.

  • How do I change the icloud account on my iphone? I want to use the same account for all my apple devices (macbook air and imac and iphone). I can't see where I can amend the iphone account because it is in grey?

I want to use the same account for all my apple devices (macbook air, imac and iphone). I can't see how I can amend the iphone account because it is in grey? I also can't remember the password for this account so i can't even delete it and start again?
    Help!
    Thanks

Deleting an iCloud account only deletes it from the Device, not from iCloud.  In iOS 8, the name of this setting changed to "Sign Out" as that is a better reflection of what actually happens.  Your iCloud data remains on the server, available to devices still signed into the account, but the device you sign out of the account on is disconnected from the account, and as a result, the iCloud data from that account is removed from the device.  It will redownload to the device should you sign back into the account.
The only issue you'll run into when you switch between accounts is with my photo stream photos older than 30 days.  When you delete (or sign out of) and account, your photo stream photos are deleted along with the other data from the account in question.  However, unlike other data which remains on the server and can redownload to your device when you sign back in, my photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days.  When you sign back in, you will only get back my photo stream photos added in the last 30 days (as older photos are no longer in iCloud to redownload).  Like other account data, any my photo stream photos on your other devices signed into the account are unaffected by this.  If you want to keep older my photo stream photos on your device as you change iCloud accounts, save them to your camera roll before deleting (signing out of) the account.

  • What is a quick alternative to launching an enterprise DPS app if Apple Store rejects the App? We are under a major deadline and can't wait for Apple. We want to host the app elsewhere. How do we host our DPS app on our client's website?

What is a quick alternative to launching an enterprise DPS app if Apple Store rejects the App? We are under a major deadline and can't wait for Apple to approve. We want to host the app elsewhere. How do we host our DPS app on our client's website? Thanks.

Unless I misunderstand the question, you can't do what you're asking to do. Apple doesn't allow you to bypass their store and host public apps on a website. The exception is an enterprise app, which requires an Enterprise account with both Apple and Adobe. This type of enterprise app can be distributed only within the company. If that's what you want to do, you can learn more here:
Digital Publishing Suite Help | Creating viewer apps for private distribution
Distributing enterprise iOS viewer applications with Digital Publishing Suite | Adobe Developer Connection
Another option is to add the development app to several devices and use those for your demo.

I can't seem to get my iMac (late 2009 model) into automatic sleep mode.  If I manually put it into sleep I don't have any issues.
I used to solve the issue by running "PleaseSleep" application but that doesn't work anymore since Lion. I now want to fix the underlying problem.
I'm not running any weird background processes and in my energy saver settings I've tagged "put the hard disk to sleep when possible:, "allow power button to put computer to sleep" and "automatically reduce brigthness". All pretty standard.
Is there anyone who can give me some pointers ?

Today I solved the same problem for my iMac running Snow Leopard. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008791#15947706. The method may help you, too.
For me it was the DynDNS Updater preventing my iMac from automatically entering sleep mode.
To my knowledge the cause of this sleep problem can only be a peripheral device or a process. So I suggest to first unplug all peripherals and test whether that's the cause. If not, I suggest to terminate one process after another and to test automatic entering of sleep mode after each. Start with user processes; continue with system process if necessary.
At least that's the way I found the offending process. Fortunately, I was able to change the configuration of that process to allow again automatic entering of sleep mode.
    Good luck!

  • I have a Bootcamp partition on  my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do?

I have a Bootcamp partition on my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout in Disk Utility is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do? I was trying to install Windows 8.1 but apparently, this is not yet possible.
I was originally able to restore to my original Mac OSX partition using Boot Camp Assistant but then after entering Disk Utility and re-RAIDing the default RAID 1 to RAID 0 in the BootCamp partition (I suspect this is the cause of the problem but why was it defaulted to RAID 1 in the first place?!!!!), forever afterwards, I couldn't restore the single OSX partition.
Whenever I used BootCamp Assistant my choice to 'Install or remove Windows 7 or later version' was greyed out. Finally I went to Disk Utility to repartition but the Macintosh HD and BootCamp disk partition functions were also greyed out (even if I started up from Recovery mode holding down option, command and 'R' and choosing Disk Utility). BootCamp Assistant gives the error message 'The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition' with additional small script 'The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows', and DU gives the error message 'The full size of the Fusion drive is not available for repartitioning'.
What can I do to fix this problem? How can I make the Partition Layout button active in DU so I can change the partition to all OSX? I'm prepared to wipe off all my data etc to repartition and have backed up all to disk using Time Machine.

My problem is fixed now, thank you. It was caused by my changing the Boot Camp partition's 'RAID1' to 'RAID0'. If I hadn't done that, Boot Camp would still have been able to 'restore' back to the one partition. It was fixed with the help of Applecare by using a terminal and typing a command to erase the IP of the Macintosh disk (not the volume) as well as the IP of the Bootcamp partition (if I remember correctly), but then I had to restore the OS and all my applications and data etc which I had previously backed up using Time Machine. I haven't taken note of the exact command terminology used. It would be wise to speak to Applecare about this if possible.
Two words of warning, 1. According to the cause of this problem, it might be wise, after reinstalling the ops system to reinstall all extra applications one by one, manually, in case a similar problem arises again. Then manually copy back all data. Or the Mac user could use the Time Machine backup and then uninstall all the added apps then re-install them one by one manually. 2. Beware as after all this the user might not have the 'Recovery partition'. There is a small recovery partition (a few 100 Mb is size) which comes with all later Macs. After all this is done this tiny partition might not be there anymore and the user might have to re-install Mavericks again to get it back, or just install the upcoming update of Mavericks due in a month or so.

I've gotten a little further on this. The dynamic select is
working fine. It's the "a href" code that isn't. I'm wondering if
someone can look at this line and tell me if it's okay to build the
query string this way. The storeid comes through fine but I'm still
not getting the employeeid value to pass. Here's line that's not
    working:

    $_GET['employeeLM']; ?>">Register

  • Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot?  I get a gray "curtain" over the start up screen saying I need to restart my computer but it won't restart.  I just keep getting the same message every time.

Can anyone help me get my iMac to reboot?  I get a gray "curtain" over the light gray start up screen with a message that I need to restart my computer and to hold the power button until it powers off and then press the power button again to restart.  It just does this over and over again and won't restart.

Yeah, as necronym stated, it is a hardware issue and more than likely a RAM problem. Disconnect everything from the computer except keyboard and mouse and try again. If it still happens try removing one and/or swapping your RAM sticks over. Keep trying until you have eliminated all possible combinations. Just put a mark on one RAM stick so you know what have tried. If it still fails to boot properly you should probably replace your RAM, but that is no guarantee of success. • IMac shutting down on startup - Can't enter safe mode as wireless keyboard doesn't connect quickly enough

    Hi all,
I was planning to use bootcamp to install Windows 7 on my mid-2010 21.5" iMac.
Bootcamp recommended I usk disk utility to repair the drive. I had a snow leopard install disk in the drive, (I didn't realise Lion already had it's recovery tools built in to the hard drive.)
Disk utility said it can't repair the drive and recommended I start backing up my data (because the hard drive could be about to fail). Fine, so I restarted, with the intention of backing up everything (all my work for the last 12 months). So I press the power button, grey screen comes up, then the apple logo, then a progress bar appears (found this odd at first, but later found out it has something to do with disk utility and a bad hard drive) it gets to around 20% and then all power is cut from the iMac and the hard drive stops/everything powers down.
Now, I can't seem to get my iMac to boot into recovery utilities or into safe mode because it doesn't connect to the wireless keyboard in time before it shuts down. So, if I use a wired keyboard (I have a dell USB keyboard that I can take from the office), will I be able to boot into safe mode?
Also, if the disk in drive is causing the problem, then I can't remove it because the wireless keyboard won't connect/register any keypresses.

    Ok so, status report:
Wired keyboard is non responsive when I plug it in before/during boot. So i guess it needs to be plugged in before the iMac shut down. That's that out the window.
Plugged in headphones and I can't hear the startup chime so don't know when to start holding buttons.
To make matters worse, the wireless keyboard is no longer paired with the iMac, getting a green blinking light which indicates it wants to connect to a computer or device.
So I can't enter any commands whatsoever, can't remove the disk in the drive or boot safe mode. It's my worst nightmare.
