IMac G5 FCE3.0 Error AGP Card Missing.

I have recently purchased FCE HD 3.0 and it won't run on my system due to an "AGP Card missing" error.
A lot of reading later I downloaded 3.0.1 upgrade and it said that my system doesn't require this upgrade. More reading later I'm looking for Pro Applications Update 2005-01 and or PAU 2005-02 but I can't find them anywhere.
Software update doesn't try to get any of these for me.
Can anyone direct me to a solution to this problem. (I'd hate to think I need to buy another Mac to fix this)
Cheers, Mark.
20" iMac g5 2gigRam   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

The ESC Key! Thanks. I never tried that for some reason however I got the problem fixed by doing this.
1. Quit Final Cut Pro HD if it is open
2. Control-click on the Final Cut Pro HD application and select "Show package contents."
3. Open the "Contents" folder
4. Find the file "info.plist” and make a backup copy of it, just in case. Open the original with TextEdit, or another text editor.
5. Use the Find command to search for the string "AGP". Delete the line containing "AGP" and the line directly above it.
6. Save the file
7. Launch Final Cut Pro
Thanks again for your help.
Cheers, Mark.

  • Get error msg. "Configuration error"  AGP Graphics Card

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 17". I migrated my software from my old computer, but when I tried to open Final Cut Express HD, I got an error message saying Configuration Error "AGP Graphics Card." When I went to the support site, it indicated that I needed to download an update. I did that, but the install indicated that I was already updated and current. What can I do?

You are in the Final Cut Pro forum and find more focused help over in the FCExpress forum.
That said, usually these messages arise when you are installing an older, non-intel version of the software on an intel machine.
You can not update it, you need to purchase the upgrade to the current Universal Binary (aka intel ready) version of the software for it to run properly.
    Good luck,

  • Hardware missing (it's not the agp card)

I installed final cut 4, and I am getting an error that says (power mac g4/350 mgz, or faster). I already changed the code for the agp card and that went away, but when I tried changing the code for this problem, I get another error that says (unknown value for key). please I need some help, I spent hours trying different things, but nothing seems to work. thanks a lot.

I have a project due on monday
Then Now is kinda a bad time to start attempting a non-standard installation, isn't it?
    As the instructions say:
After installation and before launching any of the programs, open each application package (Final Cut Pro, Compressor, Soundtrack, etc.) that was installed inside the Applications folder, and edit the Info.plist file inside of the Contents folder of the application with TextEdit or your favorite plain-text editor. Simply delete the lines and tags that would prevent running on your machine. For example, to get it to run on a G3/300, you would delete the following lines, or simply change them to match your system:
    <key>AELRequiredCPUType</key>
    <string>G4</string>
    <key>AELMinimumCPUSpeedSingle</key>
    <string>350</string>
to open the application package, ctrl/right click on the app and select Show Package contents... from the popup.

Try hitting the esc key whenever you get the message.
You are probably using FCE 3.0 which was not designed to run on Intel Macs.

  • IMac G5 Capture - General Error Message

    Hi guys,
I've just sold my trusty (old) Powerbook, and bought a new iMac G5 (1.9Ghz) 1Gb Ram etc.
When I installed FCP4.5HD I got the first problem - no AGP card, so checking through the forums I found the answer lies in renaming <AGP> to <PCI> in the File Contents/Plist folder - OK so now FCP at least boots.
Now I can't seem to capture from my new Sony DCR-HC90E Mini DV Camera.
I've been through all the settings I can think of, but still I'm not able to capture. . . . . no previous problems on the PB!
If I run the tape via the FW Controller in the capture window, the main capture window opens as if to start the capture, but then I get a message telling me "General Error!" - That's it! No other explanation.
Is there something wrong with my new purchase, or do I still have a setting wrong somewhere?
I've set my system up for DV-PAL Basic at 48Khz Audio.
Hope someone can let me know where I'm going wrong here!
    Thanks

Are you using the appropriate firewire protocol (Firewire, not Firewire Basic?)
Are there any other devices between the camera and the computer?
If yes, remove them and try again.
Does the camera capture using iMovie?
If yes, you may have a quicktime issue and may need to do a full quicktime reinstall.
Go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say Quicktime followed by a number e.g. Quicktime703.pkg
Go to the Apple quicktime site and download the appropriate version of Quicktime to your hard drive.
    Run the Quicktime installer.
Repair Disk Permissions for your System Disk (Disk Utility > Select the system disk > Repair Disk Permissions)
    Reboot
    Good luck.

  • Aaargh! agp card?

I rented a macbookpro to work with, but after installing fcp the program won't start because it says to be missing a agp card? what's that? help, I have a deadline!
    Thnx
    Joost

You should be able to get FCP to start by hitting the "esc" key when you get the error message.
However, as FCP will be running under Rosetta it is likely to be slow.

  • Very odd CF card /  missing files issue

This one has me stumped. Here are the specifics I've been able to recollect:
    Nikon D100 camera
    Sandisk 8GB Ultra CF card
1 yr old iMac with "PocketReader" multi card reader
Problem: 40 NEF files just vanished from the CF card after it was removed from my D100 and placed into the card reader on the iMac. The images were all there while the card was in the camera because I had just shown them to a colleague for quick review.
This is what I can remember of the events that led up to the NEF files absolutely disappearing from the card while leaving 8 other files intact in the same folder - as well as all other data on the card.
I had been using the card reader earlier in the day on the iMac to transfer NEF files from the CF card to the computer for editing in Lightroom.
When I needed to leave the office I didn't "eject" the CF card/card reader from the iMac before I removed the CF card so there was a window open with the CF card directory showing. I simply pulled the card and went on my way.
You don't have to eject a card reader to remove the card on a PC - which I also use in the office. You just close the folder on the card and pull it out of the reader.
This is my only thought as to how the problem may have occurred. When I returned to the office later in the day with the new NEF files on the CF card I put the card in the reader and opened the drive window, revealing - no new NEF files in the Nikon directory, only the older ones from a couple days ago.
I noticed there was still a CF card window open from the earlier session. It, too, had no NEF files other than the older ones. I closed the window and re-opened the CF card but still no files.
Which brings me to my speculative question. Is it possible that somehow not closing the window the first time, then re-inserting the card with new files simply and instantaneously reverted the card directory to its original state? This is the only thing I can think of that could somehow be responsible for the issue.
I ran Disk Utility but it did nothing except say the card was error-free. I have DiskWarrior and TechTool Pro 5 but they generally don't do much for CF or SD card data recovery. I still have the card connected to a PC and am looking for any other apps that might "see" something.
I ran 4 PC utilities to try to recover the files but none saw files that had been deleted - and that is the real head-scratcher. The files have no sign of existing in any way at this point. They were there when the card was in the camera but when I put it in the card reader they absolutely vanished.
Any suggestions or speculation is welcome.
    Rick

Well noones bothering to answer so might as well close this, been open too long.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Overclocking my PT880 got best results with a PCI video card instead of a AGP card. Why?

    Hi guys,
I posted a complete review of my PT880 OC experience at the "Overclocking section of the forum: thread post PT880 OC results" : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=48006&sid=&threadview=0&hilight=&hilightuser=0&page=2
Some days of test with my new PT880 board and I was able to run my P4 (B?) 2.4Ghz at 18 x 154 = 2772 Mhz. I got this speed using a cheap PCI card XFX GeForce 4 MX440, from my old P3 computer. I also got system to work with higher FSBs, but with some unstable sound board issues that I related on the link above.
This week I decided to change the card to another same cheap XFX GeForce 4 MX440, but now a AGP 8x version. My surprise is that the system started to hang with just 20~30 seconds of use. Setting the front side bus to 133 helped to fix the stability issue. Playing a bit more I could OC using a 144 FSB, getting a final speed of 2592. Trying higher FSBs results in a unstable system again.
This makes me wondering if the AGP/PCI is really locked. Using 144 FSB, it is supposed that an unlocked AGP port will be running at 72 Mhz, what is the limit for some AGP cards... My BIOS setup is using the AGP clock option at the default of 66Mhz. Is it really working at this speed?
If the AGP/PCI bus speed is really locked in this VIA PT880 MSI motherboard, why this difference in OC results when I change from a PCI to an AGP card (same manufacturer, same nvidia chipset) ? Will be the northbridge more occupied now?
    My PC setup now:
    - MSI PT880 LSR with Bios upgraded to 1.4
    - Pentium 4(B? 533Mhz) 2.4Ghz
    - 512Mb DDR PC3200 NonECC ADATA Memory (just one module, so just single channel)
    - XFX GeForce4 MX440 AGP8x
    - Seagate 120Gb 7200RPM ATA100
    - Seagate 80Gb 7200RPM ATA100
    - Prolink PlayTV HD (conexant cx88)
    - Sound Blaster Live! 4.1
    - LG DVD-RW 4040b
    - 450W generic PSU
    That's all for now

Your AGP bus uses more bandwith than the PCI bus, thus making the OC more dependend from the AGP bus. And if your AGP slot will drain more CPU power and fragile as AGP can be, it will not tolerate errors due higher clock speeds. Mhz += Stability -. Notice: PCI is 33 Mhz/ AGP is 66/133 Mhz... . As you see there is less margin for errors. While you overclock the CPU will make tolerable errors: NP with PCI... But AGP... will take it to the MAX. [I hope this reply is No nonsense]

  • Mega 865 + Asus N6200 AGP card... Help!

    Hi All
I have been running an 865 for 2 years now with no problems but I fancied a bit of extra performance in games so I got an Asus N6200 128mb AGP card.  Its half height and has passive cooling so it looked ideal for the Mega.  I see on this forum that this type of card is a popular choice for the Mega series.
But..  the card crashes after a short tiome.. almost instantly with a 3D game like Sims2 or after 5-10mins with just normal desktop apps.  I have tried all sorts of driver revisons but they all crash out.   I never once have seen a blue screen with windows error messages.  The card will crash giving whites blocks over the full screen or a black screen.  Sometimes music etc continues in the background.
I dont see any abnormal temperatures on the card or in the system prior to crash.  CPU is a Northwood 2.8.  Looks to me like its a driver or voltage problem.. would welcome any suggestions especially from those who are running this type of card (what drivers are you using etc).
    All the best

6200 is no good for gaming, probably no better than the onboard graphics you already have now

passively cooled cards rely on good case airflow to help keep them cool, and small barebones PCs generally suffer from a lack of airflow

  • AGP Card

Just upgraded from a Powerbook G4 to a MacBook Pro 17". Though I spent all the money possible at the Apple store on this computer, in trying to open Final Cut Express I 'm told I need a AGP card. Where do I get one and did I miss the chance in my original purchase? Thanks.

    Hi
Upgrade to FCE 3.01 and let me know if that resolves the problem.

  • Xserve AGP card

    Hi,
I recently purchased a 2nd hand Xserve (one of the original 1GHz single processor models).
It came with the standard PCI graphics card in the dual PCI riser and a PCI Ethernet card in the single PCI/AGP riser.
I want to remove the Ethernet card and put an AGP Graphics card in (need the DVI connection as it will be connected to a 20" Aluminium Cinema Display).
I realise I need to buy an AGP riser and swap out the PCI riser (they appear to cost about USD $10 so this is acceptable).
I have on hand 2 AGP cards that I could put into the Xserve - one is a Nvidia Geforce4 MX 32MB from a Dual Processor 867MHz MDD - the other is an ATI 9000 PRO 64MB (from my Dual Processor 1.25GHz MDD (FW800) that I replaced with a modified ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB).
Will either the Nvidia or ATI 9000 work succesfully in the Xserve?
Everywhere that I have looked mentions the ATI Radeon 8500 as the card that Apple provided as CTO for the Xserves but these are hard to find in Australia and I would prefer to use a card I already have on hand. I would probably prefer to use the ATI 9000 Pro if this is at all possible.
I will be installing the client version of OSX 10.4 (10.4.6).
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Xserve original 1GHz single processor   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    PowerMac G4 MDD (FW800) - Xserve 1GHz - eMac 800MHz - iMac 600MHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

This forum wouldn't like me linking to them.... but have a search around the OSX86 / "hackintosh" sites ... a lot of people tried a lot of hardware in their attempts to get their mits on the shiny X!
As a result there are wiki's full of what chipsets give Quartz / QE

  • AGP cards not working

Hi.. and hope someone can help me with this.
I’ve read about a lot of info about problems with AGP ports on MSI boards but still cannot get a clue about my particular problem.
    My specs:
    AMD XP 2.400
    MBO:MSI KT4V (MS-6712 ver 10A)
    RAM: 256MB
    Case: 400W
    OS: Win2K SP3
My problem: Cannot use video cards in the AGP port. System still can boot and go into safe mode, but in normal mode Windows can barely make it after the logon screen. The system suddenly goes to a kind of standby mode (power button does not work), all energy activity seems to stop (fans too), and I have to unplug and plug the energy cord to be able boot again.
    My tries:
    1) Using a PCI video cards has no problem. Works perfect.
    2) I’ve used 2 different AGP cards, booth with exactly the same problem: PCChips ATI 9200LE 8x and Nvidia MX440 8x. Suppose I can asume the cards are not the problem. They are new ones.
    3) Used MSI Live Update 3 to update BIOS. It was succesfully updated, but problem remains.
    4) Used MSI Live Update 3 to update Board drivers (even the AGP one). It was succesfully updated, but problem remains.
    5) Modify some BIOS parameters like Fastwrite to Disable, AGP voltage to 1.7, but problem remains.
    Thanks on any advice.

You mean I suppose not the voltage, but the ampères? And sorry, been at birthday party so I couldn't give immediate respons. The troubleshooting guide suggests these:
    3.3V - 28A or better
    5V - 30A or better
    12V - 18A or better
And perhaps you can learn from this nice guide, below. Good luck!
"don't worry about agp 8x - i does not offer any significant speed increase. what you are describing seems to me to be related to the ati video card (that's what is experiencing the vpu error). steps 4 through 7 below might be all you need to do. give it a try.
start with flashing the latest mobo bios before you start if you haven't allready. I recommend stick with the 3.7 Cat driver (many people are reporting worse problems with the later rev Cat drivers) and follow these directions:
    1) download and install the latest via driver (i know, you have it)
    2) download and install latest soundblaster driver (if you are using a soundblaster audio card of course)
    3) download and install catalyst 3.7 driver/control panel/samartgart from ati.
    4) disable fast-write in bios (this was causing corrupted icons and cursor in windoze).
    5) start-run and type in smartgart then enter
    6) enable - pci read/write and agp read (probably allready is enabled).
    7) disable - agp write (default in my case was on causing lots of stability problems in games).
    "apply", reboot, then "ok".
