IMac G5 from 2005 is dying!

My iMac G5 from 2005 is dying. It's shutting off when I put it to sleep. It barely starts up anymore. Called an apple computer reseller and they said that the older (white) iMacs (without the iSight) have known problems with their logic boards or power supply. He said he'll diagnose problem for free but thinks I'll need a new mac. I never had this problem with my only 2 previous macs. Not too happy.
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what was the problem and how did you solve it? (if you did)

Power supplies and logic boards do fail, they can be replaced, but at some point it becomes uneconomic. However, look [here|http://www.synaptech.com/catalog> and see what they can do for you. Replacing the power supply is not expensive, but the logic board is.

Unfortunately what you need is something that is designed for PowerPC Macs. Stuff that is designed for Intel Macs will not work. The PowerPC (PPC) Mac software is getting scarcer. Macs in 2006 shifted to Intel CPUs. Stuff that is designated Universal will work, and you can buy the retail 10.5 if you have no Mac OS 9 related software that needs to load. If you partition your hard disk, or use an external Firewire hard drive partition just for booting into 10.4.11 or earlier, you can still use Classic for Mac OS 9. The Apple Store will offer to recycle it for free, you are better off selling it on ebay or elsewhere, I have seen decent looking ones go from $80-$250 here in Australia.

You must copy the music from the Windows PC to the iMac, and then from the Mac to the iPhone.

Image new iMac 24" from FW HD doesn't succeed

Found this to be a problem with the MacBooks as well.
If I boot up a brand new MacBook or iMac (intel) from a FireWire hard drive, I cannot erase the internal Macintosh HD.
I can't even use Disk Utility to Repair Disk. Get an error saying the Macintosh HD cannot be unmounted.
So, the work around is to boot from the installer DVD, then erase the Macintosh HD, then reboot from the FW HD, and Restore an image.
Using NetRestore 3.3 and a WiebeTech SuperDriveDock

External hard drive keeps ejecting after iMac wakes from sleep. TM does not recognise, so have to unplug then re plug in Ext HD, only then TM will perform a back up. Not seamless backups. Help to resolve would be grand

Ive got the same problem with a Western Digital 500GB My Book Pro on my iMac Ive tried it on a few other machines and I think its happened on them, I say think because it was only when it had happened a couple of time that I started to take notice of circumstances etc and ive only had the drive a week, downloaded what may be a more uptodate "My Button manager" from the WD site still happened but Ive got this idea that it didnt happen on one machine which may not have had the MyButton thing on at that time, have you solved it yet I am using USB at the moment.

Is there a way to boot up an iMac G5 from an external drive (PowerBook G4) running 10.2.8?

I have an iMac G5 running 10.5.8 and a couple of MacBooks running 10.6.
I also have a cherished old PowerBook G4, which will only rarely and briefly start up these days. It runs 10.2.8.
I would like to try to recover the original working environment (files and OS but also user interface, desktop settings, preferences, etc) of the PowerBook G4. I presume that one way of doing this would be to remove the hard drive of the PowerBook, place it in an enclosure, and try to boot up from it as from an external hard drive.
Would this be possible? Would I be able to boot my iMac G5 from the old drive or would this be impossible because of the drive's 10.2.8 OS? What are the alternatives?
What are some tips for doing this sort of thing safely, to begin with?

Instead of booting from the external, which as Niel pointed out, is not possible, how about simply dragging the data you need from the external after you mount it?

I don't think the password will matter, because you can't use anything on the iPod or in iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
The simple software "lock" used on iPods should not prevent you from off-loading the song files. Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library. Then, you can do a Restore on the iPod to give it a fresh start and sync it (and the iPod touch) as desired.

Folder always opens when imac wakes from sleep

Don't think its a huge problem but when new imac wakes from sleep the same folder always pops up on screen(shaded in black). It always has to be closed before I can proceed with anything.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also the folders name is always highlighted red. Thanks

SSRS Reports migration from 2005 to 2008R2

I have couple of questions.. looking for answers
Am new to report migration. We have 1000+ of reports in 2005 which we need to migrate to 2008R2. After googling theweb i got to know that we have an third party utility RSScripter which is used to move the reports from 2005 to 2008.
Question 1:
By using the above tool i was able to migrate the reports from 2005 to 2008. However, i am not able to redeploy the reports to sub folder in 2008..
Example i have some reports in 2005 at Dev_reports\Reports\.. when i want to copy these reports to Dev_reports\Reports folder they are not moved to sub folder Reports on destination server, but rather they are copied to root folder. Is there any why
that i can copy the reports to particular folder in destination server.
Question 2:
When moved the reports from 2005 to 2008 are all the reports are automatically upgraded and copied to new server(2008)? or we need to explicitly open each and every report in 2008 and deploy to the new report server(2008)?
And my third requirement is to create couple(2) solution for the above said reports and check in them to TFS as a reporting project.
one report project with all the reports from 2005 and another with all reports from 2008.
Appreciate your responses at the earliest. As this is on top priority.. Thanks in Advance

Per my understanding that you are using the RSScripter to move the reports from SSRS 2005 from SSRS 2008 R2, now your first problem is you don't know how to move the reports from the sub folder of 2005 to an specify folder on SSRS 2008 R2, right?
I have tested on my locak enviroment and can reproduce the issue, by default, when you execute the .cmd file the report will move to the new server's root folder, for example, you have an rdl report in SSRS 2005 which path is "/Test/report1.rdl"
, when you move to the SSRS 2008 R2 using the tool it will move to the path "home/Test/report1.rdl".
If you want to move this rdl to the specify folder "home/Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl" you should do the action as below:
Create the specify folder on the SSRS 2005 but not SSRS 2008 R2, move the subfolder and the rdl in it "/Test/report1.rdl" to the specify folder
find and check the "/Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl" in the RSScripter:
the Output will have the path like "Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl",after move to the SSRS 2008 R2, it will also create the path like "/Test0323/Test/Report1.rdl"

For the second question, Generally, reports are not upgraded when you upload a report definition file directly to the report server or SharePoint site. The report is automatically upgraded the first time it is viewed, but the stored report definition file
remains unchanged. Upgrading a report definition in SQL Server Data Tools is the only way to upgrade the .rdl file.

My imac is from 8/07 and although i have ad no problems llately it is very slow often showing the colorwheel between tasks. any ideas beides buy new one

My imac os from 2007 and still works great. Even got the new Lion pgrade. The machine has become quite slow and goes to color wheel between tasks.
Any ways to help sort of purchasing a new one

Is your data backed up from prior to the upgrade?

Exclusion under section 605(a) is the responsibility of the CRA, not the creditor, so your recourse is to file a complaint with the CRA of their continued showing of that adverse iinformation in your credit report beyond the exclusion period set forth in subsection 605(a)(5). With due deference to the CRA, it is understandable how they might miss a exclusion of only a comment. Once brought to their attention, it is clearly must be excluded.
