Imac G5 Permision error
Hi, hope you guys can help.
The Imac G5 does not boot up (apple white screen) i have run the archive and install CD to install new OS and has failed. I then ran disk util. diagnostics and the hard disk is fine, but when i check permissions and tried to repaired it, it came up with the error below
-the underlying task reported failure on exit -
Verifying them also caused same error, I have tried running A&I again without
"preserve user and network settings" and also did not work, I don't want to wipe the HD yet, what else do you think i could try and mainly how can i retrieve my files before my last resort (wipe the drive)
Thanks
Did you use your install disc to repair permissions? Have you tried to use Disk Utility on the install disk to verify and repair your drive? Have you tried resetting your SMU and your PRAM? It is also possible that your hard drive has failed. If you can put the machine into Target Disk Mode you could possibly be able to drag the info you need into another computer.
Let us know how you make out,

I just set up my new iMac, and receive error messages when trying to purchase from the iTunes store (error 8003) or update from the App store (error 403 forbidden). THOUGHTS?
I am not sure what you mean by "Flash Player for steam"; the only Flash Player installers I know is the ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) and the plugin (for other browsers); you can find both at http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header

Have noted that the volumes are sporadically re-organized under System Finder window after using a file sometimes.
Fille Permissions are often not correct and change without authorization both in systems files and within indvidual applications' children files. I will continue to pursue this vein...
but doesn't a re-install use existent permissions?
I am in way over my head here and know it!... -

Is there something to do to suppress any trace from the old one in order to be able to install creative cloud on the new one ?

Hello- I had 5,5 Design Stardard. I upgraded to 6. Design Standard last year.
I tried to update my MacPro laptop and I encounter errors with my serial number. I did change the HD name on the Laptop.
I also just got a new iMac and I moved the 6.0 version over to it - no go. HELP FAST! please.... Adobe support s**ks
Thank you
Bdid you deactivate whatever you want to install no that was installed on your previous hd?
if not, you'll probably need an activation count reset, http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html
next, is your design standard cs6 license an upgrade? if yes and you do not have design standard cs5.5 installed on your new hd/imac, you'll need to supply both (cs5.5 and cs6) serial numbers when installing the cs6 upgrade. you'll need to give the correct number at the correct time. -
Can't install photoshop cs6 on brand new iMac - "Media db error: 18"
At my company we recently hired a web designer – given his insistence on using the Adobe software, we decided to give Photoshop a try.
We downloaded a trial version and tried to install it on the brand new iMac (no previous installations of adobe stuff) we just bought for the new desigher, but... it's not even installing!
The installation process halts at around 2% and an error screen appears which gives generic instructions ("restart your computer and retry") and points to a log file where one can read "Media db error: 18".
Of course we tried restarting the computer, cleaning up ~/Library, re-downloading the installer... no good – we then downloaded and run an adobe cleanup utility... still no good.
Some people on the internet report they have the same problem... we found several questions on the matter, but no answer (besides "restart your computer" and other generic stuff that we tried and does not work).
We then called Adobe support (Italian support) and they told us they don't give support for trial versions, like we should sight unseen buy a (pricey!) software we can't even install! .
Can anyone here help? Thanks for your help!
No, no beta or previous installations of any Adobe products – we are trying to install to a brand new iMac (just bought last week from the store): it has the latest version of everything (Os: Lion 10.7.4)
Is there any debug switch I can turn on on the installer to get further information on what's going wrong? ("media db error" is a somewhat laconic error message) -
Standard Adobe answer for this kind of issue is "Contact Our Product Support".
. after performing all the recommendations on the Adobe Community and Product support information resources. I went to the live support and spent 3 hours on line with Product Support "techs" Finally after last 2 hour session with Indian gentleman who could barely speak intelligible English...after he went through same routines that I had performed. (After took control of my desktop), he Changed config files by entitling them with bogus titles, asking me to trash the files, then re-title his newly authored files to the title he had trashed....(old trick) then tells me to empty trash... He did this a couple of times and I lost track of the data changes made. Then he reported that he could not fix the issue and he would cause the case to be elevated to a more experienced support person...AND THAT ADOBE WOULD GET BACK TO ME WITHIN 24-48 HOURS. He exited his control of my system from the desktop and left the scene. A case WAS OPENED AND I RECEIVED NO NOTICE OF ANY KIND FROM ADOBE.
This morning about 44 hours after he elevated the case...I checked on it by logging on and found a case file SURPRISE SUPRISE..no new information. I elaborated a little more on the urgency of finding a solution to the problem and mentioned that the 48-hour clock was about to run out on the issue...I NOTE now that a new case number was assigned for SAME EXACT ISSUE AND it was re-assigned a new case number! THE OLD CASE (unsolved and apparently unattended) WAS DISMISSED!
Does this mean that I have another 48 hour waiting period? This configuration error has existed on all CC apps that I have tried except Lightroom. Since upgrading to Apple's Mountain Lion OS for IMAC, I have not been able to run my onboard application CS5.1 PS. The application installation disc is ejected within 3 or 4 minutes after insertion in the DVD drive. So I am unable to operate my PS which I have used and contiguously updated since 1991.
Please suggest other alternatives..or if similar experience an approach strategy to solving this issue.Thank You very much Mandeep 5062 will pursue this vein...first off the time is within .3 seconds of the USGov.com national time standard. It is in complete (to the second) accord with Verizon Time standard. NOt much way to get time any more accurate.
I will look into error codes..but I have followed Adobe remedy (cookbook) for Error Cod 213.5. Nonetheless, this is a valuable page for future reference. Thank you again.
I am now off to Apple.com to pursue issues of what appear to be sporadic-assignments of volumes at both system and Application-level files. This may be related to unstable and unauthorized pemissions assignments to both system-level and application specifiic level files.
Thank you again for your help

Brand New Imac 20": Kernel error on normal start up.
I have a Imac G5 with bluetooth keyboard and mouse (just moved from pc to mac) . I took it out of the box and just after it ended the setup it said that had losted connection with the mouse and keyboard and froze, i had to rebot it and since then it starts up and after a little while crashes and give me the kernel error. I tried to reinstall the os and software but it keeps with the same problem (in the installation when it is using the second disk and its installing the bundled software, it shows the kernel sign).
When i start up in safe mode the Imac acts just fine, the keyboard and mouse work just fine and the sistem doesnt crash or give me the kernel sign. All the software and internet connection works just fine. I only losse the sound, Isight (in normal mode it crashes with or without the Isight) and airport (all factory installed).
Please help me, i moved from pc looking for peace of mind and it has been difficult with this problem.Hello Sandra:
Since your Mac is so new, I suggest you call Applecare and have the people there help trouble shoot your problem. It could be a hardware problem also.
You were right to switch. Macs are, for the most part, trouble free.

IMac disk minor error cannot be repaired
Dea All,
My imac keeps running slow, everytime i use disk untility to verify the disk it says minor error first aid failed. So I insert the installation disk and repair it that way. But recently after i repaired from installation disk, and check the verify the disk after reboot it still says there is minor error needs repair. I repair it again with installation disk and it still comes up as error.
Anyone know what is going on? And how to repair it completely?
Many thanks for any of your help.
AliceHI,
Try this... boot from your install disc again.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
*If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.*
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
Perhaps another pass will do the job. Worth a try....

Hi everyone,
I keep getting Apple Crash Reports stating "Sleep-Wake Error"
I was hoping to get some help with my late 2012 27in i5 iMac that over the last few days has suddenly been crashing/restarting on its own usually while it is in sleep mode. I just did an ETRECheck immediately after it rebooted, along with the Apple crash report and will post them both below.
If anyone has any thoughts or ideas on how I may fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it, thank you in advance!

Thanks for any helpThanks for the quick reply. I was copying a file to the the drive I believe as well as a few other things. ( running an amateur radio program under parallels) This problem only happens sporatically every day or so the past week. I have not changed anything here software wise?
I have one more Kernal Panic I saved, does it indicate the same problem?

G5 iMac Optical Drive Error Messages
I'm afraid my optical drive has probably gone bad. I can burn about every third or fourth time on a variety of media. I get the following error messages in
Toast:
*The driver reported an error:*
*Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR*
*Sense CODE - 0x73, 0x03*
*Lead-in or Lead-out failed to be written.*
And, the following messages in iTunes:
*The attempt to burn disc failed. An internal error occurred.*
*The attempt to burn disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.*
Anyone have any clues as to how this may be remedied, short of a call to Applecare?
Thanks.Ummm, you could start by posting in one of the iMac hardware forums - this area is for Mail problems.
Hope someone there can help.

HT2513 Adding nw calender to the IMac calender creates error message
On my IMac I want to add another calender. The one I also use on my Iphone. I get the following error message:
Het verzoek voor account 'iCloud' is mislukt.
De server reageerde met
'400'
op de bewerking 'CalDAVUpdateShareesQueuableOperation'.
Strange also is the fact that the calender already has items from the calender I want to include. The items that are given are only the recurring items.
Please helpI had the same issue, the calendar didn't show up after uppgrading my Iphone to IOS 5.0.1.
After reading several posts on different forums on the net (apple and synology forums). I begun to get a picture regarding my problem with caldav sync between my iPhone and my Synology diskstation. After testing the various recommended actions and settings, I found out that it was ONE setting in perticular that made the calendar and tasks show up on the iPhone.
When changing the setting under "E-mail, contacts, calendars" "Calendar - Syncronize - All events". Both the calendar and the Tasks started showing up in my iPhone. When I changed the setting back to "3 month", my preferred setting, both the Tasks and Calendar disappeared.
My conclusion is that it's the setting under E-mail ...... "Calendar - Syncronize" that makes the calendar appear and disappear from the calendar and task app.
I can't say if this is a bugg with the IOS 5 or the WEBDAV - CALDAV function on the Synology.
A fact is that the setting "syncronize: X months(weeks)" worked on previous versions of iPhone IOS (4.3.5).
I hope this exlpains and helps in fixing this bugg.
