IMac G5 wont recognize previously recognized display. Need Help.

I've had an LCD display connected from DVI to HDMI and has worked fine as an extended desktop for months. Now after a restart, it won't recognize the display. It is connected the same way it was before, I've tried reconnecting, restarting still wont work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Assuming you've checked all the connections to make sure everything looks ok and is tight, go to system preferences>display and select the option detect displays. If that doesn't work, I'd try testing the monitor, cable, and adapter using a different source.

    1. I tried connecting it to itunes for a system reset and it didnt work.
    2. The phone wont even turn on!!!

If the phone wont turn on it sounds like it needs to be charged.  Plug it into a charger and wait about 15 minutes and try turning it on while still charging. Have you tried holding in your home button with the on/off button held in?  Hold them both together until the apple logo comes up and then release them.  The screen will blink off an on while it is resetting. I still think this is a battery issue. Good luck~

Booting from an install DVD into Apple Hardware Test by holding D down

  • MacBook Pro wont recognize 23" Cinema Display

I am trying use my macbook pro with its lid closed while connected to my 23" cinema display. However, when I wake up the system with a mouse, the cinema display will wake up (without the menu bar and dock) but after a few seconds, go right back to sleep. What is the problem?
I can use the macbook pro screen and cinema display screen together as a dual display just fine.

What happens if you shut the MBP down, connect it to the ACD, open the lid on the MBP only long enough to press the power button and then immediately close the lid? That should cause the system to start up with only the ACD active. See if that works.

  • IMac or Macbook Pro Can not Decide Need Help

The iMac or Mac Pro I can't decide which is the best one to get and I need to get a
good answer before next Thursday. The 24" iMac with extreme Intel processor or Macbook Pro 17" with 2.6 Intel Processor. I'm into Graphic Design in the winter months and want something that doesn't crash when I'm designing websites with dreamweaver. I need to know from you professionals which is better. Also this will be my first MAC. Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Newbie,
It really comes down to your desire for a fast Desktop, or a fast portable. Only you can decide whether or not you want to "go portable." Either one would suite your professional needs, and do so extremely well. And Macs simply don't just "crash" (not if they are working as they should). My well-over-1-year-old 17" Macbook Pro has never been shut down, and I rarely restart it. No crashes, no problems. I have seen my wife's 3-year-old iBook with an "uptime" of over 160 days (that's almost 6 months with no shutdown or restart!!!). Also no crashes, no problems.
The 24" iMac is simply... stunning. And, with the 2.8 Gig Core2Duo Extreme, it should really rock speed-wise. But, it would remain in one place. The benefits of the iMacs are (obviously) the larger displays, larger hard drive capacities, and sometimes better performance (as in the case of the 24" w/ Core2Duo Extreme).
On the other hand, there's a lot to be said about being portable. "Going portable" is potentially a complete paradigm shift, as far as how one works. My Macbook Pro goes with me almost all of the time, and I can use it for work or play at a moment's notice. I have a really nice dual-display setup at home, which has (sadly) never been used since I moved to a portable; I simply can't be bothered being tied to a single location to use a computer anymore.
In the end, the decision is yours. Either way, you'll be happy.

  • The nsu cant recognize my n95, i need help

hi the nsu cant recognize my phone although i reisntall it and the nokia pc suite again and again, and followed the help instructions.
i need another version of the nsu- older version to try to use it and it may help with the problem.
does someone has an older version of nsu or can tell me where can i find it?
    thank you in advance

    Hi subress
Unfortunately if you're looking to update N95 to v21.0.016 you have to use latest version v1.4.23en of NSU. As previous poster mentioned any empty or corrupted registry keys from previous installations can prevent NSU from installing correctly.

  • Ibook G4 airport extreme wont connect to WPA2 personal need help

ok so I just reformatted my brother I-book G4 and started with a clean slate, 10.3.9 OSX I am trying to connect the airport extreme that is in the computer to the linksys network I have set up. I have a Imac with an intel processor and a powerbook g4 titainium the Imac is using the internal wireless that it came with and the powerbook is using a linksys wireless card through the slot on the side.
I am using WPA2 personal on the network and both of these computers connect just fine through the password. the I book will not allow me to even bring up WPA2 personal as an option. it recognizes the network and I can click it but will not except the password because the only option is WEP of different types. how do I get around this and get it on the network?
I bought a external USB wireless card for it but it wont even recognize that either.
also the computer will not boot up with the airport card taken out of the computer which I found very odd. what is up with that?

    Copied from apple's support:
To set up a WPA2 Personal network:
    1. Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Mac, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.
    2. Select your base station, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. Enter the base station password if necessary.
    3. Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
    4. Choose WPA/WPA2 Personal from the Wireless Security pop-up menu if you want computers compatible with WPA and WPA2 to join your network. Choose WPA2 Personal if you want only computers compatible with WPA2 to join your network.
    5. Enter an ASCII password of 8 to 63 ASCII characters.

  • Previous PC user needs help with setting up iphone on Macbook

I just started using the Macbook and will be using this as the primary computer. My iphone 3G was previously syncing to my previous HP PC. I tried plugging in my iPhone to the Macbook and it definitely reads it....but how do i get the Macbook set up so that it serves as "home base." I didn't see any of the applications that i previously had on the PC itunes iPhone page as on the itunes on the Mac. i thought this would happen automatically. I just need a method of being able to update the apps if need be. Or do i need to use the PC for that?
    guidance please.
    thanks

Your itunes does not automatically show up on your new computer.
You have to move it there. You can use your back up to do this or the Apple Store will do it for you, or you can call Apple support and they will help you do it.

Assuming this means the TV was not detected in any of these versions, this would not be a Snow Leopard installation or setup issue. I think that is what sig is trying to tell you.
If this is true, you might want to post in the MacBook forums to see if anyone has a similar issue. It would be a good idea to post the model number of your Toshiba if you do so, as this might be relevant. Otherwise, it sounds like the problem is in the TV, since the MacBook works with other displays.

  • Powerbook g3 walstreet 12.1 display need help!!!

    hello,
i just bought my first mac off ebay, its a wallstreet with 12.1 display, just that the screen is craked it powers up and everything but i need to replace the screen itself, i just got a 12.1 screen off ebay just the screen itself not the whole display, can anyone help me in how to install it, one more question can i put a 14.1 display on this model if i can't what do i need to replace
    thanks

powerbook g3 wallstreet   Mac OS 9.2.x

The 12.1 model does not have enough VRAM to drive the larger displays - to run a 13 or 14" screen you would need to replace the motherboard.
To get at the dispaly you will need a torx screwdriver (a T8 I think), you will find screws under the rubber bumpers at the top and under small glued in plastic discs at the bottom. Once these are removed carefully lever the two halves apart doing as little damage as possible - by gentle levering you should be able to see where the latches actually are, pushing the inner bits inwards with a small flat-bladed screwdriver will ease separation.
The display itself will be screwed to the back piece of the hosing - unscrew it and carefully pull it forward, behind the display you will find the connectors for the backlight and data feed which you can now disconnect.
Fit new screen, reconnecting as you go (which should be easy as long as the display is exactly the same), clip display back together, refit the screws and glue the bumpers and discs back in.
You may want to test the new display before screwing the display frame back together..........
    Good luck!

  • Color management on LCD displays, need help

    Dear all,
I know the same topic has been already raised so many times, but i just can't help to ask it again. I am sorry for that, I just realize I will at least get a concept of what to do next. Ppl here are helpful.
I don't own any Apple monitor. I have a Macmini, connected to a new SONY LCD display, SDM-HS95P, by DVI connector.
As everyone knows the situation of LCD monitors. They have higher contrast, brigther image that traditional CRT monitors. That's why photographers and graphic designers are blaming all the time.
And now, I face the same as they do. My monitor is no more "WYSIWYG". The red i have here, may become another red on printing. The yellow I have here, may become orange on CRT.
I calibrated with the Colorsync of OSX, I decreased the contrast and bright level of my monitor, but they dont help much.
Someone suggested here to purchase color management hardwares. Of coz i know they are helpful. But the point is, how can a little student to afford a such expensive hardware for only doing color management?
Apple displays are all in LCD these days, how does Apple help their users to overcome the mentioned situation?
I know this maybe just a never-ending question, but i think ppl here may come up with some new ideas in resolving this.
Please kindly help, much appreciate! Thanks!
    regards,

    Hi.
Apple cinema displays do not offer the user the ability to adjust the contrast. You need to be able to adjust contrast when calibrating the 2nd monitor to match the target white and black luminence values of the first monitor.
Contrast is needed in order to adjust the white luminence value of the monitor you are calibrating. You need to be able to adjust the black and white luminence values of monitor 2 when using the white and black luminence target values from monitor 1 if you want both monitors to be calibrated so that they use the same (same but seperate) profiles.
Colorvision (makers of spyder2 pro) has indicated that this is a huge issue with the ACD monitors and they are currently researching a workaround.
If anyone knows how to fix this... please tell me (us)... thanks.

  • IMac 10.6.8 Spinning Beach Ball-Need Help

I have a 27" iMac running OS 10.6.8, it was bought new in 2010, has a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM, I have about 450 GB free on my 1TB Hard Drive. The problem I am having is that I get the spinning beach ball all the time. It is not dependent on a program, sometimes it will do it right after boot, other times it will work find for days. I backed up all files on to an external drive, not using Time Machine, formatted the drive, reinstalled OS 10.6 from the original DVD, copied my files back to the computer. Worked fine for about 2 weeks, then the problem came back. Took the computer to the Apple Store, and they had the computer for over a week running test on it. They could not find anything wrong with it. The problem did happen for them, but they could not find the cause. They suggested buying a new Hard Drive from them, having them put it in, and installing OS 10.8, for a cost of over $500. I have tried resetting the NVRAM, repairing disk, and repairing disk permissions, no change. I have booted in Safe Boot, and the problem will happen in Safe Boot as well. I have ran the Apple Hardware Test from the Install DVD, even under the extened test it could not find anything wrong.
Sometimes after waiting a long time the computer will start to work again, most of the time you have to hold the power button to shut it down and boot it back up. I have tired to watch the CPU and RAM, but they stay low CPU usage, under 10% and RAM is over 50% free.
Software running on the computer is Photoshop with Bridge CS3, MS Office X, and Toast. I had Carbonite for backup, but uninstalled that.

They suggested buying a new Hard Drive from them, having them put it in
Apple has a 90 day warranty on all repairs.  Strongly suggest that you take the computer right back to them and/or call Apple tech support.
