I am not finding any help in Support articles.  I have a grey iMac 20" that is showing a black screen and giving 9 beeps when powered on.

If you replaced the Ram in your machine at any time, you may not have been aware of the fact that Apple computers have always been a little picky when it comes to 3rd party Ram.  Apple computers have always run very well on 2 different brands.

The only difference I am aware of is that Crucial offers a download and will tell you exactly what Ram your computer is capable of using and the prices that are available.

The 3 beeps during start-up are telling you that the RAM is bad.
If you can access the RAM modules, you may try taking them out and putting them back in, perhaps it's only bad contacts.
If that doesn't help, you'll need new RAM module(s).

Did anything happen to prior to your phone acting this way? It sounds like your screen is dead, but it is hard to say without knowing what what the cause.
    1) was this a gradual problem? Did the phone screen start dimming a couple months ago and now has degraded or after some event (known or unknown to you), the phone started behaving this way.
    2) Can you give more specifics on the problem? You said you have a black screen, but also you can see what you're doing on screen. Is the screen just really dim? Is the screen completely black? Does anything else besides attempting to reset the device cause it to flash white?

  • Pro won't start.  Instead get a black screen and a beeping every 2 seconds. LIght at front right corner of keyboard flashes in sequence with beeping.

If it is giving a single beep every two seconds, then it is not seeing any of the memory.  You could try taking the back off, remove the memory module and reinsert to see if that corrects the problem.  Or just take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs do that for you.
If you are uncertain about working on the memory modules, you can find on-line videos for doing so at OWC, http://www.macsales.com where you can see the procedure for your year, make and model of MacBook Pro.

  • Satego X200-21L - Black screen and 3 beeps on start up

    Hello
I have a problem when I turn on my computer (Satego X200-21L). I got a blank screen and 3 beeps no BIOS boot up no nothing what shall I do?
    Anybody everybody please help!

    Hi
Sounds like a hardware malfunction on your notebook because normally such beep codes mean that its something wrong with the hardware.
Have you installed extra RAM? If yes remove it and try to boot with original RAM only. Furthermore try resetting the RAM in slot.
    Does it work?
In worst case you have to go to an authorized service provider. The technicians can check the notebook and determine what is causing this problem.

    Welcome to the Apple boards:
Were you holding down the Power button while the computer was still running? That's wrong and if that's what you did, you aborted the update and forced the machine off.
See if you can reboot in the safe mode - hold down the shift key while booting.
If you have corrupted the keyboard firmware, you may need to take the computer to Apple - I hope that is not the case.
One should never interrupt a firmware update.

  • Ipad was working fine and now has black screen and wont turn off or on or do anything

Ipad was working fine and now is a black screen. Won't do anything now

Is it charged? If not charge it with the supplied charger.
If charged, have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • 20" Imac has white screen and freezes at start-up

my 20" imac will not start....help...All I get is a white screen and tone at start-up then it stays white. I tried hooking up a bootable firewire drive and pressing the alt/option key at start up nothing. I also tried the command/option/p/r at start up, it will reboot to the same screen. I also tried running the hardware diagnostics at start-up...no response. Computer was purchased on Nov .4 2007, warrenty just expired.
    Help......Please....

I had the exact same problem today. My iMac 20" (iMac 8,1) would't boot any more, staying stuck on a white screen immediately after the normal start-up chime. Nothing worked (no safe mode, no DVD boot, no disk selection icon when starting with alt pressed, no Apple hardware test, no parameter RAM reset, power management chip reset had no effect, no verbose mode, not even open firmware).
I browsed the forums, but what I found didn't help, so I was about to stop trying and have it fixed by Apple. But my son told me he had noticed that after "a long time" (he's 4...), a folder with a flashing ? would appear. I figured that wouldn't happen in case of a severe hardware failure, so I tried one last thing: I hooked up an old PowerBook in target disk mode via Firewire and restarted the iMac. I tried several times (with and without alt pressed), but nothing happened (when pressing alt, a functional mouse pointer would appear, though).
Then I restarted a last time and left the iMac sit there on its white screen for about 20 minutes... and that's when the miracle happened: it finally booted off the target-disk mode PowerBook's system!
I ran Disk Utility, which saw the iMac internal HD as disk2s0 (or something like that), and launched the disk repair process. After about three error-ridden verify-repair cycles, the green ok message finally appeared and the volume mounted as if nothing had happened. I rebooted off the internal disk without a glitch, and I still have to find damaged or lost files.
I guess I was lucky that my HD problem was benign enough to be cured by Disk Utility. But even if that had not been the case, at least I'd have known that the HD failed, and maybe I could have saved some files using recovery software. Whatever the case, if you've got an external bootable drive, it's definitely worth trying before handing your iMac over for (usually horribly expensive) repairs.
    Good luck!

  • G70-246US Laptop has black screen and won't start

    Hi Everyone,
I have an HP G70-246US laptop. I received an errot that the computer could not find any Boot Disks. I turned it off and rebooted the computer and it would not come back on. I see nothing but a black screen. The power button light comes on but the hard drive light does not.
There is no sound of system startup, none of the f1, options work. The power button and the wireless button are lit and the dvd player allows me to put a cd in and eject it but nothing works.
I took the hd out and put it back in to make sure it was connected securely and still nothing. I am trying to get an idea of what needs to be pinpointed before I purchase a new hard drive.
Unfortunately, I am over my one year warranty time period. I really need to figure out a resolution soon as I design websites and without my computer, I can't finish my work.
Any help is greatly, greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

With the hdd out can you access the BIOS by tapping the F10 key after powering on? If so that would pretty well point to the hdd causing the problems. Your machine came with a 160Gb SATA hdd. If you will be using your Recovery Disks to reinstall you need at least that large to use them, can be larger but no smaller.

  • MSI Radeon R7 250 black screen and mobo beep in game

Hi guys I have a bit of a problem with my video card, I bought MSI Radeon R7 250 last month I haven't played any games really since then as I had no time, but about week ago when I started to play world of warcraft, after 2h of gameplay my screen went black and my mobo buzzer started to beep, this have happened with my other games too. I have checked the buzzer code it and it turned that im getting video/display error, I have been searching over the web about the source of it but I got nothing, now my question is can I fix it somehow or is it a manufacture issue, all of my divers are up to date.
My PC is practically new i got it at the end of last year, those are the specs:
CPU: AMD Athlone IIx2 270 3.2GHz (I have overclocked it to 3.99GHz but after the errors I got it back to stock)
    RAM: 2x2Gb Corsair Value DDR3
    Mobo: MSI 760GA - P43(FX)
    GPU: MSI Afterburner Radeon R7 250 1Gb GDDR5 (4.6 Effective Memory Clock)
    PSU: 500W
When I was overclocking the CPU I got Arctic Freezer 13 so all the temps were fine.
I have runned stress test with FurMark for about 30 min just to check temps and i got 60 degree, in game im getting about 45 - 50, CPU max is 26

Try clearing CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Also try running the PC without the GPU inside (make sure you disconnect power cables).
PSU seems to be enough for this GPU. But if possible (hopefully a friend has better one) test with different PSU. And test the card in different PC too (if possible of course).

  • New imac has black screen

I just took my new imac out of the box and the screen is black, I can almost make out what's on the screen but its too dark! Has anyone else had this issue?

It's not 10.6.5 really is it?
Nobody that doesn't drink Kool-Aid should be exited about the new iMacs, Minis, or... oh wait, there is nothing else.

  • IMac has black screen, clicks, then powers off.

My Imac froze up, and after trying other options first resulted to holding down the power button for a restart. The initial restart only provided a blue screen. After waiting a while, no change, did another restart by holding down the power button.
Now the machine has no "light" on the screen, only a faint sound after pressing the power button, a click and then power off within about 15 seconds. Tried disconnecting all cables, including the power cable, and reconnecting, but same thing occurs.
I have an appointment with the Apple store tomorrow, but am curious if anyone has any ideas on this.
    Thanks, Nic

I got a call from the Apple Store yesterday and it is ready for pickup. They had to replace a logic board and the power supply. I wish I had further details, but I don't. They really shod give better details to the problem, the solution and how to avoid this issue again.
    Thanks,
    Nic
