IMac has terrible lag during game play

I have a 2.4ghz iMac 24inch that i got about 7 months ago. I just recently purchased rollercoaster tycoon 3. My iMac has 2gb ram and i just deleted about 50 gb worth of apps and documents off my hard drive to see if it would make a difference and it didnt.
When i play the game, it works fine for about 5 minutes then when i just barely try to add something as simple as a path way, it like freezes for 45 seconds then starts to place the path. Its an unbearable lag. and before you say "well rct3 isnt universal binary or whatever its called. I downloaded the intel patch on the aspyr website. Would upgrading my ram to 4gb make a difference? I already asked aspyr and they said its something to do with my machine, as the intel patch should have fixed the lag issue.
Any help is appreciated!

  • 27in 2010 [Mid] Running Really Hot During Game Play

    Hello,
I've seen a couple other concerned users in here and figured I'd post my issue with my Oct (mid) 2010 27in i5 iMac.
    For starters:
    2.8ghz Intel i5
    16gb of 1333 ddr3
    ATI Radeon HD 5759 1024mb
    Mac OS Lion 10.7.4
During game play the temperature of the top portion of the iMac exceeds 120'F, I'm fine with the heat, It's a large sealed aluminum case housing lots of hot items. Here's the catch my graphics begin to deteriorate and pixel/hexigon away so gaming is no longer visible... Now I've got a desk fan running behind the computer and can get a few more minutes before the pixel/hexigonal phase hits and game play must stop or be tolerated.
I just downloaded iStat widget to attempt to capture some temperature and fan data. Could this issue not be the temperature and maybe my GPU? Is there a standard limit of temperature to determine maybe my fans are not functioning correctly? Is there a safe way to clean the iMac's innerds without damaging anything?
    Thanks -

  • Apple TV lags behind during game play

Games like Infinity Blade tend to lag behind, why?

Is this while mirroring? If so the issue is likely with your network. Mirroring requires more than basic airplay and little things can affect it as it has to display in real time. I would check istumbler (netstumbler for windows) for interference and ensure you minimize other network activity.

  • IMac Crashing during game play

I recently patched a video game that has run stabley on my iMac for several months. The program will run for four or five minutes and then I get the dreaded screen instructing me to reboot my cpu. This happened three times in a row and see below for the crash report. I have run disk first aid which fixed a "header issue." I ran the program again and once again the system crashed on me. I am unsure as to what I need to do... Help? The tech support people for the game say to format my entire computer and reinstall.... I dont know if a game is worth that much work.

  • Flash crashing during game play

Using internet 9, latest flash and shockwave, Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
Medion laptop, 4gb mem, 1TB HD
Flash crashing everytime I play games on Facebook
Is there anyway to stop this?

I suspect you might be running into the same issue that has been reported here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1056229
If you can, please take a minute and vote/comment for the following bug:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3318993
I don't have a solution available for you yet.  Your alternatives are to use a different browser or revert Flash Player back to a previous version (my suggestion would be the most recent version of 10.3).
How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

  • IMac late 2012 crashes during games

I bought a brand new 21.5" iMac with a 2.7 GHz i5 and 16 GB RAM. Everything works great except when playing games (World of Warcraft & Diablo III) it just crashes after a few minutes, anywhere between 5 minutes and 20 minutes. In WoW, the screen begins to flicker black before the game freezes.
I am unable to even force quit the games or do anything besides turn off and turn on my computer. I've had no other problems with the computer so I'm assuming something is wrong with the graphics card, but I guess it could be anything. I set up the computer through migration assistant to grab everything from my old iMac. Could it be an issue with the migration? Should I reinstall Mountain Lion? I don't know.
    Any ideas? Thank you!

First use disk utilities to verify/repair your hard drive, Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1782

  • Ipod Touch (2nd Generation) freezes and locks itself during game play.

While playing Diner Dash on my Ipod Touch 2G as the game action intensifies the machine locks itself and/or slows to the point that I have to wait several seconds for the processor to catch up.  This makes it very hard if not impossible to play the game.  The symptoms seem to mostly happen in games such as Diner Dash or Bejeweled.  Sometimes the same symptoms will happen in other apps as well.  They seem to get worse as the processor load increases.  I have the latest version of itunes installed as well as the latest OS update (4.something) as of 7/13/2011.  I have tried restoring the machine, uninstalling and reinstalling various apps, and turning off anything that would burden the processor and memory.  Nothing has helped much.  The machine has been buggy like this since it was new.  We sent it into Apple and they said nothing was wrong with it.  Also, there is no damage or abuse involved.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Put it in a baggie and completly cover it with rice. leave it there for a week+ and it should work.

I am surprised that it works at all, sometimes. PCIE 1.1 slot.
ATI/AMD cards after the 5000 series have compatibility issues with most older chipset MBs like yours.
Seeing that you seem to have it working, my next suspicion is that your PSU may just not be up the task. Numerous reports in the past have exposed the diabolical behaviour of Diablotek PSUs.
Suggest you test your system with a quality single 12V rail PSU of 30A or more.
My gut feel is that the card will still give problems even with a better PSU. A test is the only thing that will confirm that.

  • Droping to windows during game play

Why does my computer close me right out of a game when Im playing?  Everything else on the computer is working fine, all other programs run fine except for games.
    My system is as follows.
    Win 98se
    msi 875p mobo
512 RAM (ram was checked and didnt fail)
    Seagate 120gig SATA harddrive
    Using onboard sound

    Things to try...
    1. Make sure you have the latest patches for your games.
    2. Install the latest video and sound drivers.
    3. Re-install Direct X.
    4. Turn-off any antivirus software.
    5. Get some better cooling, PC's run hotter whilst playing games than when they are just sitting on the dektop and an increase in around 10c - 15c is normal but without sufficient cooling may make your PC act a little unusual especially with any hot weather we are currently having.
    Hopefully this may help.

  • SMS receiving indication during game play.

While playing game with the application sound set to On, the application does not give any audible or visual notification to the user regarding the SMS received.

    Turn on phone
    Press home button twice
Close any open app pages that appear
    Restart phone
This apparently  resets the apps and the ring tone goes on when you receive a text.
    Worked for me anyway.

  • MSI Neo2 K8N Platinum - Freezing Issue during games

First off greetings to everyone on these forums...
I purchased the MSI Neo2 K8N Platinum motherboard from NewEgg back at the end of March to compliment the AMD 64 "Winchester" processor that I also purchased at that time to replace a slightly older AMD XP "Barton" system that was using the Abit NF7-S motherboard. For the past month I have been fighting an unusual and highly irritating issue that I have noticed during game play and have tried everything that I know of and more in an attempt to remedy this issue, but to no avail. This is the general background of the situation and now I will descibe in greater detail as to what this issue I am referring to is and the symptoms of this issue and some of the various methods used to remedy this issue.
The issue is that while play a game the system experiences a short 5-10 second freeze during the game randomly, but usually several times an hour. During this freezing the sound would loop and as suddenly as the freeze occurs it would cease and the game would continue on as if nothing happened. However, sometimes this would result in the system freezing outright after this short 5-10 second freeze... but it does not feel like a total system freeze, but rather a video freeze as the sound continues and I still have keyboard control... but this does require me to force a manual reboot of the machine itself. I have scowered the internet and various forums in an attempt to find what the issue was and use various methods to remedy this issue, but so far nothing has worked in my favor... but it does seem like this issue has been plaguing other users with the MSI Neo2 Platinum motherboard. Below are some of the methods that I have used in an attempt to solve this issue:
*Default Clock for CPU/Memory/GPU; Over/Under Clock for CPU/Memory/GPU
*Increased voltages to CPU VID, AGP, and Memory
    *Disabled/Enabled AGP Fast Writes
*Increased AGP Aperture from 64MB to 512MB
*Enabled/Disabled ATI/nVidia Speedup option in BIOS
*Forced AGP clock lock to 66-67mhz
    *Relaxed/Aggressive memory timings
    *APIC enabled/disabled
    *Gate A20 turbo/normal
*Disabled all unneeded onboard components (Realtek NIC, Sound, SATA)
*Disabled nVidia MAC and attempted to use 3Com Gigabit PCI card instead
    *Swapped HDD Cables
*Tried PCI Sound Card (SB Audigy2 ZS Gamer) in PCI Slots 3/4
*Tried video drivers from 71.89 Official to 76.45 beta modified drivers
*Tried 5.10 official nForce drivers to remixed 7.02 nForce drivers (5.10 drivers uses 4.36 GART, higher drivers uses the 4.40 GART)
*Applied all the latest updates from Windows Update Website
*Reinstalled Operating System (Windows XP SP2) 5 different times clean with various settings (APIC on/off, etc...) and different drivers.
*Installed Audio Card (SB Audigy2 ZS Gamer) with older and the latest drivers available from Creative's website
    *Replaced PSU (Previously was a Thermaltake 420watt PSU, 18A +12v) with a OCZ Modstream 520watt PSU (28A +12v)
*Video card is KNOWN working from previous build (AMD XP 3000, Abit NF7-S)
*Hard Drive is KNOWN working from previous build
*CD/DVD-ROM drive is kNOWN working from previous build
*Heat is not an issue... all components temperature is well below rated level, the only unknown is the chipset temperature (it has a active heatsink and seems to not be hot to the touch, applied AS5 to it anyway)
*Used latency tweak to the video card
*Used Rivatuner to force constant performance level
*Tweaked BIOS to force even clock rates and forced 1.4v to the GPU Core
    *Used original GPU BIOS
    *Used MSI Neo2 K8N Bios 1.4 - 1.8 and modified BIOS 1.8
*No background applications are running (not even antivirus)
*Used application to force maximum refresh rates for my monitor
*Memory passed MemTest86+ for over 24 hours
*System passed Prime95 and SuperPi for over 24 hours
*System seems stable in all non gaming related applications
    *Checked through various troubleshooting procedures
    *Disabled SBDRVDET.EXE using MSCONFIG
*There are no IRQ conflicts outside of PCI system management sharing IRQ11 with the NIC and USB... in APIC there are no IRQ conflicts what so ever. Regardless neither method worked
*Installed AMD 64 drivers from AMD
    *Disabled DEP in boot.ini
*...and many other various tweaks and modifications.

I have been fighting this issue for well over a month now and I am frankly nearly out of ideas, this does not necessarly prevent me from playing games, but this does interfere with the games I do play (especially online games). I do demand absolute stability from the games that I play and this issue only began AFTER I upgraded to the new motherboard, processor, and memory. The only thing I have not tried is something that I do not have access in attempting on this motherboard, and that is increasing the voltage to the chipset.
Here is my theory on what is going on is that I believe is there is a fault with the chipset on this motherboard and this is manifesting itself while I am playing various games on this system. Of course I would like to try increasing the voltage to the chipset as that would increase stability, but there is no option in BIOS to increase the chipset voltage like the previous motherboard I had (Abit NF7-S). It is possible that either a) the chipset is at fault and is causing me this issue or b) the chipset is not recieving enough voltage.
My question to the rest of you is this, what do you think the problem is and what ideas do you have that I may try that I have not tried yet. Additionally if there is nothing else that I may try should I attempt to RMA this motherboard and will that help, and is there any other versions of this motherboard that I should be aware of. I would appreciate any response from a MSI representative and any comments from those that may have positive suggestions for my issue. Thank you in advance for your time and any help that you may be able to render.

*EDIT* Added additional methods attempted... (there was a lot... so I did not remember everything that I have tried)

Does it only happen in online games, or can it happen in all games? One thing to make sure of is to turn off CRC checksum offload in your NVidia MAC properties (everyone do this, it is incorrectly calculating checksums which leads to servers ignoring your packets). However as you have tried a different network card you can discount this theory.
For me it looks like the biggest culrpit is your 6800NU, i have read alot of bad things about the NU and you have a low bios revision there, just because it worked well against your old chipset doesnt mean it will work well against your current chipset. Sounds like a BIOS fix is needed as some timing is out somewhere.
Ensure Spread Spectrum is off (and as you have already pointed out Fast writes, ATI NV Speedup) and your card is running at default clock.
As a test beg/borrow/steal another graphics card (preferably nvidia) and see how it goes so you can narrow in on your video card.
It is not just one game, but it is more prodominate in certain games than others... the game in question here is Planetside... though I stuck a demo of Unreal Tournament 2004 on a loop bot match and it seemed to have locked up after 4 hours (not sure how many times it experienced that 5-10 freeze as I went to bed). As for the video card it was KNOWN working from a previous build in those same games (Previous build was a AMDXP3000 and a Abit NF7-S nForce2 motherboard). The only components different in this build is the AMD64, the MSI Neo2 K8N, 2 new sticks of Corsair XMS to replace the Corsair ValueSelects, and the SB Audigy2 as I would never use a software codec audio solution. Spread Spectrum is LOCKED in BIOS and disabled... ATI/nVidia speed up was disabled from the start... and I tried the Video Card at default clock, over clocked, as well as under clocked and the same issue resulted... as I said before it is NOT the video card.
There are two other things I could try is use my old Geforce4ti 4200 and see what happens... or even try out WindowsXP 64-bit edition as someone earlier suggested. I wish I could find a new BIOS for my XFX 6800NU, but there there is only the revision 1 BIOS that I was able to find. The mystery continues...

    HI,
During game play it would freeze (or stutter) for about sec and then back to normal and this happens about every -2 mins, if I take out the audigy sound card then the prob goes away
It didn't used to do this or at least I wasn;t aware of until I ran a program called PCI Latency Tool 2.0 to test different settings of the PCI latency timer and all hell broke loose. Ive tried reloadingh the BIOS and reimaging the partition to the state where everything used to work but to no avail

  • Terrible lag when playing online games (Final Fantasy 14)

I live in the NYC area and regularly I have terrible lag issues. I play mostly Final Fantasy 14: ARR and especially after working hours (but not exclusive to) the game is **bleep** near unplayable. In dungeons, I'm often 10-15 seconds behind what is happening in real time and it's frustrating. My speed tests from various services and servers indicate I'm getting  what I should be which is around 75/75, but latency is absolutely terrible. Almost never when I ask people in my party if they're experiencing the same does anyone indicate that they are so i'm highly inclined to believe it's issues with Verizon's service.
I've gone as far as testing during the time I'm having issues by playing through my T-mobile 4G Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone and the game is seamless!!! And the mobile 4G signal sucks in my home!!!
I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing the same?
As it stands, Optimum isn't capable of the fiberoptic speeds, but it would be worth it to have a connection that doesn't suck. And as soon as I'm out of this awful contract that these greedy **bleep** lock you into, I'm considering going back to cable and it's "inferior" DOCSIS 3.

I am also having these issues.  Customer service keeps changing their story ("It's Square Enix's server, despite the traceroutes you gave us showing it's an intermediate node we're sending traffic through!"  "It's Alter.net!"  "It's Level 3's servers, not ours!"  "Have you tried using a VPN?")
I'm sorry Verizon but if you're telling your customers to use a VPN you have failed us.  Make figuring out this issue a priority or we will be looking elsewhere.  Gamers don't need fiber optic speed to be competitive, we just need a reliable connection.

The Game Center app is pre installed and cannot be removed from the device.
Best thing to do is move it to the last available screen.
Hold down the Game Center app until all the apps jiggle then sliide the Game Center app to the right from one screen to the next. This requires a bit of finesse, but it's doable.
Press the Home button one time to stop the apps from jiggling.
For the Apple ID issue, try resetting.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then try your Apple ID and password for the Game Center app.
