IMAC in Saudi Arabia
I am american working in Saudi Arabia and am interested in purchasing an iMAC here. I was wondering if there would be any hardware or software compatability issues (other than power) with a machine I purchased here and took back to the US. Does Apple make different versions of the iMAC for different parts of the world?

Note, the iMac Flat Panel was discontinued in 2005, and there was one version of the iMac G5 made in the U.S. and Japan which couldn't be used outside of the U.S. and Japan except with a transformer type adapter. The current iMac Intel Core Macs shouldn't have that trouble. The iMac G5 and Intel Core Macs while using a flat panel were not called Flat Panel, and look like .
So the question is, are you interested in getting an iMac G4 used or refurbished, or a new iMac? If you are interested in a new iMac, posting to this forum below would be better if there are questions I can't answer:

I looked in System Preferences > Language and Text and under the Region Tab I found you could set "Show All Regions"
This then added some Language choices that then had Countries listed next to them
I could chose Saudi Arabia here but it made not difference to the choices shown in Messages.
In Messages I was highlighting the iMessages Login I already have and clicking the Detail Button and then Logging in
After that I could look at the Drop Down for Language and Countries.
As you say it is a somewhat limited list.
I am also sure I did not really have my computer set to type in Arabic (It also still listed British in Language and Text > Input methods and showed the British flag rather than the Saudi one.)
It might also need a restart to make some changes take effect.

it kinda weired issue, but last time i came to saudi arabia 2011, i used to use my iphone to navigate through the city of Jeddah, but now for my latests visit to saudi arabia, i got kinda disappointed when ever i hit (Get Directions) it loads for seconds and says (Directions not availabe, Directions could not be found between these locations.) well im pretty sure it worked before, but now there must be something that happened, even siri, it doesnt give anything regarding saudi arabia, and what's funny is, 6months ago i was in Syria which is a country in WAR, and Siri was working perfectly as well as maps, siri was able to address near by atms rests gardens ect... in jeddah all this is not working, i need some help here.
P.S: at first i was using ios 6.1, though it would be a software error, that's why companies make updates isnt it? , so i updated it soo friendly and still the problem occursHi,

Hi I’m Mohammed abwane from Saudi Arabia. I purchased my me I phone 5 last march 2013. One week ago I try to restore this phone but when I arrive to activation point, this ask for apple Id and password. Unfortunately I forget the password and email I used for opening my account.
Then I send it to the suppler where purchased this phone they told me there is no way to fix this unless I give them the Id and password .know I don’t know where I can go because in my Location nobody know how to fix this problem.
At less I don’t know what I can do to fix this problem because I use this phone for my work and All my data and phone number in side this phone
Notes :- I have all the document ( invoice and box for this phone )which say that I phone for me .
I hope to get any answer from your good site other whys this phone will be useless for me

I dnt know, what is the logic behind, blocking facebook and other social sites, in Saudi Arabia.
Even I cannot open my mozila Firfox, over here.If you value your job, it isn't a good idea to install unapproved programs on company owned hardware. A smarter approach would be to use Firefox Portable on a USB stick, as long as the USB ports aren't blocked or disabled. But that might not be approved either, but it is safer than installing Firefox on that PC.

My 120gb ipod will not synch with my itunes just keeps appearing on the desktop gett ing very frustrated as i cannot get any assistance from itunes as i am currently working and living in saudi arabia. Tried to pay for this on one off support but funny enough they will not call me here. They are happy to take my money but not offer any support to me I have 4 ipods 2 i phones a mac and various other apple items this is annoying seems to be a recurring problem for people but looking through forums cannot find a solution
When you connect the iPod to the Mac, what do you see on the iPod screen?
Is there any message from iTunes?
Check and enable that the iTunes Alert is not switch off.

Cellular data and whether 3G works on your phone has nothing to do with the phone itself. This is the responsibility of your phone company/carrier and is linked to the sim card that you have inserted into your phone.
You don't need to go to a service centre, but you do need to contact your phone company - cellular data and 3G is their responsibility and not Apple's.

I perchase Iphone 4 before from Jarir book store saudi arabia. with one year warranty.
but after just a one month later i found a minor problem in power button but i neglect it and was using it.
but later Almost 8 months i Bring it to icare Shop Which is situated in khobar ksa.
but they deny to repair it free of Cost by telling that u not perchased it from us. As i know the Apple warranty is internationaly. but even in same coutry And Almost same place of Perchased area The i care told me we will repair it With Charge not free of Cost. And then i pay 250 Saudi riyals for a minor problem even its was under warranty.

It will be locked to mobily telecom, and according to Apple's list of supported carriers and their features (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937) they do not offer unlocking. Since only the carrier it is locked to can unlock it, you have bought a useless phone.

I am from Saudi Arabia, and I am using blackberry since 5 years now.
All the people in Saudi Arabia they had been waiting for BB10 since a long time, also me I have been waiting for it since TORCH-9800, and we had been so happy when blackberry company announced for BB10
BUT.....
The bad things we found in BBM and made a lot of people didn't buy BB10 and I am one of them, that in BBM when we need to send a broadcast to contacts, we have to select each one, we can't select all of them in one checkbox, and this is not good at all,, for me I won't get BB10 because my contacts in BBM over 200, and a lot of people they had the same thing as me.
So,,, to blackberry company please listen to your fans in Saudi Arabia and fix this problems with one small software update. PLEASE we looking for it AND YOUR SUPPORT.
A lot of people will buy BB10 just if blackberry fix this.Personally I'm glad Broadcast BBM messages has been made more difficult to send... but, to each their own.

I live in Saudi Arabia and intend to buy an iPhone 5 (unlocked version) from U.K. I want to know, would it be possible to claim warranty from the local network operator which is the official Apple iPhone seller i.e. Mobily. Would they repair/replace my iPhone 5 ?
You would need to return to U.K. for warranty service. The iPhone warranty is not international.
