  • How can I get rid of the calendar icon that's showing on the top right of my screen?

I can't figure out why the calendar icon is only showing when locked? When I unlock it it's not telling me I've missed anything and the icon isn't there so I can't figure out where's it coming from to delete it. Help!
    Solved!

    Try a Battery Pull:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • How can I get rid of the speaker icon?!

The speaker icon (labeled "sound effects") started popping up for no reason in the middle of the screen. It remains on the highest volume. When I lower the volume it climbs right back up to the highest. I have all the latest updates installed. I don't want to do a complete reset because I would have to reinstall everything. Is there another way to make that icon disappear?
There's another problem and maybe they are related. When the ipod runs on the battery only it gives a false reading. It shows the battery is almost completely depleted. However, as soon as I plug it in it shows 50% (it will charge completely if I leave it plugged in). Anyone want to take a crack at solving this?

% battery on an iPod is not accurate so what you seeing is not abnormal.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • I can't get rid of the iCloud icon in my iTunes playlists

Since the last iTunes update the iCloud icon keeps popping up in every playlist.
I tried disabling it, but after the next start-up the icon is back again, and it isn't because it's a different playlist.
This keeps happening in the itunes library also.
It keeps bugging me since I don't use icloud and the icon is a waste of space for me, I have all the playlists setup so that
the space is used well, but the icon keeps messing up my lay-out.

Seriously, no one has had this problem before?

  • Help! I can't get rid of the sad icon . . .

. . and I've tried forcing my iPod nano into disc mode so that I can restore, and it won't go!
    Casper? Btbaz? Can you help??
    Thanks

Here is a pretty comprehensive post about the sad iPod icon. Be aware that it's quite involved and contains some info that will almost certainly void the warranty. If your iPod is still within the warranty period, you should use that option first.

  • How can I get rid of the Firefox icon in the notifications tray? I don't mean just hiding it, I mean disabling or uninstalling it.

It's taking up space and memory, and I don't need it. For me, it's not useful in any way.

Strange, i never saw firefox icon in my notification tray, but to remove the icon do this:
First you need open the Registry Editor:
Go to Start, Execute, type "regedit":

And in the right side of window delete two files:

Try upgrading your Mac to the newest version of OS X Mavericks, and try upgrading your iPhone and iPad to the newest version of iOS 7.
OS X Mavericks may not be in the Mac App Store by now, but you can find the newest version of Mavericks here at download.com: http://download.cnet.com/Apple-Mac-OS-X-Mavericks/3000-18513_4-76018588.html. Note: Download.com it a safe website to download free software.

    Hi,
According to your descriptioin, I don't think this is system problem, it should be Intel driver problem. It would be contact Intel to confirm this issue whether this is their driver problem.

  • I can't get rid of the "Install OS X" disk image...

Several months ago (I think it was when upgrading from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3) I had trouble with two machines - my wife's MBA (Rev. A - 1.6 GHz, 2GB ram, 80 GB HDD), and my MBP, but our iMac did fine. Eventually I got both the MBA and MBP updated and they work fine. Since then I've updated the MBA so that it's running 10.6.4.
Here's my problem: during the difficult software update somehow I was left with two (2!) "Install OS X" disk images on the MBA desktop. I cannot get rid of them no matter what I do. I've tried ejecting (and they eject - but then when you reboot the computer they come right back), I've tried using disk utility to erase them, I've tried numerous things but I can't get rid of the darn things.
I'd given up because they weren't causing any harm. However, I've just realized I can't run TimeMachine because of the disk images - TimeMachine stops with an error message saying it can't back up two disks with the same name. I can't change the name or delete the disk images so I can't do backups.
Any ideas on how to get rid of these silly things?

OK, then open Disk Utility. Click on the main drive entry at the top of the sidebar list, then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see a window in which you have the three partitions displayed as rectangles one on top of the other. I'm assuming that in your case the largest rectangle is the uppermost one with the two mystery partitions at the bottom. Click in one of the smaller rectangles. You should see it become outlined in blue. Then click on the [-] Delete button. Repeat for the second small rectangle. You will now have a gray area below your OS X partition. Now click on the Apply button. It may take several minutes for the process to complete so be patient and wait until it's done. When it's finished you should see the topmost OS X partition and the remainder of the window is gray space. In the lower right corner of the OS X partition should be a sizing gadget that looks like a triangle. Use the mouse to drag the corner all the way to the bottom of the window. Click on the Apply button and wait for the process to be completed.
This should restore your drive to it's original single volume state and get rid of the two mystery items.

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.
