IMac intel can use 3D studio Max???

i wanna to buy a New Intel iMac 17" and install 3D studio Max for my work, does it work and smooth, thanks for your help

OK, just wanted to be sure. Lots of people were under the mistaken impression that just because the new Macs run Intel processors that they could then just run Windows apps under Mac OS X.
As to 3D Max performance, I can't speak directly to it since I haven't tested it, but Max's minimum system requirements are fairly modest, so for basic operation and simple models, an iMac Core Duo should be more than adequate. As you get into very complex models, though, 3D apps start to really use up system resources, so an iMac (or any system of comparable specs) may start to bog down. The 3D professionals I know of wouldn't think of creating pro-quality modeling and rendering on anything other than the highest-end horsepower they could get their hands on; rendering, in particular, needs all the power you can give it to complete in a reasonable time.
So it's going to depend on your needs. For learning purposes and simple models, 3D Studio Max on an iMac should be fine. If you intend this for professional work, you probably either want to go with a high-end PC, wait for the Intel-based replacement for the PowerMac G5 (no idea when that will appear), or consider a 3D package (if changing is an option) that works on PowerMac G5s (Maya, Electric Image are two such) and get a quad-core G5.

i downloaded the newer version of c-dilla from discret's website, and i installed it, i dont get the error anymore but while 3ds max is initializing, a window popped out, it said that 3ds max has to shut down, just like the one you see when there's an error in windows and windows xp asks you if you want to send report to microsoft, this message also popped out. so i have to close 3ds max, but if i just ignore it, 3dsmax would start and i could use it but with the presence of the annoying window :(
after that, i also tried the instructions on the link you gave me, with no luck, same thing happened, but atleast i could use 3ds max, i also tried installing the newer version of c-dilla, same thing also...

I use visual studio on my machine and try to create a list, but the sharepoint server is on another machine. It is possible to run a program on my computer and then create a list on the sharepoint server. If yes, how can I achieve this?

You can create and manage lists and libraries using SharePoint Designer. To use Visual Studio you would have to create a SharePoint project, create a feature, define the list, etc. then create a Solution package and deploy that to the server. If you just
want to manually add a list then use Designer.

AppleWorks-Education iMac (intel) - Network use doesn't work

We have an Xserve where all the students have their home folders. They log onto the Xserve in order to do anything. Worked great last year with our eMacs running 10.3.9. This year we have 42 new Intel Imacs(Education) and when you use Appleworks (lately the paint program) about 1/3 of the class stares at the spinning beachball. It usually happens when they save. I haven't been able to totally pinpoint at this time. It is very frustrating and AW worked perfectly before we upgraded to the new computers. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?
I remember Steve Jobs telling us at the keynote that your apps will run fine under Rosetta... Hmmmm
On another note, we are a middle school and use Appleworks mainly for the paint program. Does anyone know of a simple paint program that is universal?

Keynote is fantastic. If you'd like a few tutorials to help get going go to MacMost.com type keynote in the seaarch box and Gary will have some easy to to follow videos for you as quick start. Seriously you will love Keynote once you find your way around it. I've used it to make presentations that I turned into video for YouTube. Lots of luck.

HT2330 I have a Studio Display, M7649. I want to contect to G5. Sudio Monitor has ten male pins, G5 has eight female connector holes. Is there a converter so I can use my Studio Dispaly with my G5?

Does anyone have experience with setting up a Studio Dispaly with a G5?

I think I will have to go to Best Buy or Apple Store, Apple Store doesn't seem to have a lot of earlier model support. I may have to buy another moniter, I just hoped it would work with my G5. I have been online with some third party vendors, but no luck yet.

IMac intel - Can't get rid of the PPP icon on display!

Hi there, someone please help me. I am new to apple computers, I have recently accidentally switched on a PPP connect. And it shows on the top of the screen in between AirPort and bluetooth, icon is a phone.
I have deleted the PPP location, but its icon still showing there.
Please tell me how to switch off it!

Open System Preferences and click Network.
Choose your Ethernet configuration (named Built-in Ethernet unless you gave it another name) from the Show pop-up menu.
Click PPPoE, and deselect "Show PPPoE status in menu bar."

IMac intel -can't install flash9 -MIME problem?

I was trying to print some cards from designhergals.com and I
was prompted to get the newest version of flash. I downloaded it
but when it installed and opened up I got this message that the
page has content of MIME type "application/x-shockwave-flash" a
plug in and directs me to adobe to find this plug in. No one at
adobe seems to know what this is-nor did the person I spent an hour
with a apple support.
I now have no flash-despite trying even to download archived
flash versions. I have reinstalled both safari and foxfire,
restarted my computer many times, reinstalled flash and unistalled
flash.
I am at my wits end, Apple says this is a adobe problem,
adobe says they don't offer support on this,
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Well it's unfortunate that you've put that much time into

That makes no sense, because there is no phone support available
for Flash Player (and when there's no phone support, no phone

IMac Intel can't see blank DVD

I had this problem (still do) with a homemade DVD movie; now when I insert a brand new blank TDK DVD-R disk it's invisible on the desktop and the finder

I've fixed this by going to System Prefs>CDs & DVDs and changing the WhenYou Insert A Blank DVD pull-down to Open Finder

Trouble running 3D Studio Max

I recently put Bootcamp and Windows 7 on my iMac and I installed 3D Studio Max 2010 -- its the only program I want to use on Windows. The magic mouse does work basically under Windows but it won't scroll and so I can't zoom in Max and also the delete key on the little silver keyboard won't work so I have to go up under the edit menu -- on an extended keyboard its the 2nd delete key which is off to the right that works. I read that a new edition of Bootcamp will come out and solve the zoom/scroll problem -- but meanwhile I am being driven crazy. Can anybody please help this Macgirl -- I wouldn't have gone anywhere near Windows if it wasn't for Max:-)

If you are an enterprise organization, you cannot use the Community Edition. The fact that your company does not develop and publish software is not alter the revenue limit.
