Imac keeps losing wireless network connection when awoken from sleep mode

I recently did a archive and install on my Imac and I am still trying to get the kinks out.
Since I did the archive and install, my Imac loses it connection to our wireless router. I assume it isn't renewing its DHCP lease. In order to get a connection again, I have to restart my cable modem and my wireless router.
My network settings are set to join preferred networks by default. My default preferred network is listed and the security parameters have been fulfilled. I am set up to use DHCP in Imac preferences.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
jk

Hi, See if this helps...
Go to System Preferences
Click Network
Highlight AirPort and click Configure...
Choose “By default, join: Preferred networks”
Select your access point.
Remove your access point with the little minus sign. Launch your keychain access in Utilities and delete your access point keychain entry.
Add it in again after a reboot.

  • BT Keyboard Loses Connection When Waking from Sleep Mode

I'm running Windows 7 on a late 2009 27" iMac and my Bluetooth keyboard keeps loses connection when I wake my computer from sleep mode. Usually the only way I can get it back is my resetting. Anyone know of a way to fix this? Any help would be great appreciated.

If the MBP doesn't wake when you open the lid but does when you press any key afterward, do this:
    Applications > Utilities > Terminal
Copy and paste the following text in the Terminal window:
    *sudo pmset lidwake 1*
You'll be asked for your admin password. Type that in (Note: the password will not be displayed as you do so). Press Return, and quit the Terminal. Close the MBP, wait for it to sleep, and open it again. Does it wake now?
If you want to change it back so the system doesn't wake when you open the lid, repeat the procedure, but this time type or paste:
    *sudo pmset lidwake 0*

  • T61 - WWAN does not connect when resuming from sleep mode

    Hi.
I have a T61 with integrated WWAN, which works perfectly - except I use sleep mode a lot, and when i resume from sleep mode, WWAN doesn't connect, I always get the same error - IP configuration failed. If I restart my OS, WWAN works normally again.
So far i have tried on Windows XP, Vista 32, Vista 64 and Windows 7 32 bit - always the same!
I connect via Access Connections, maybe there is a known issue?
    Thank you, B

This bugs me as well.  With the new Verizon software I just installed, it says "Adapter Disabled" when I resume from sleep.
I suspect a driver bug that needs to be adressed.
I use Vista Business 32bit, but had the same problem with XP.

  • MacBook Pro and iMac keep losing wireless internet connection.

Greetings all, two weeks ago I purchashed a MacBook Pro and iMac and they've worked fine, except for the internet. The wireless randomly goes out, but the airport bars remain. At first I thought it was just pages having trouble loading because of the OS (stupid I know) It's been happening more and more frequently and the only way to solve it is to turn the Airport off and then on which allows the internet to reconnect. My wireless router is connected to an HP an the router is a Dlink 1310 wireless G router. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi all,
It seems I am not alone. There is a very strange problem either with my brand new unibody MacBookPro 17" or the Airport Extreme I am using to connect to the Internet via a cable connected router. The router I am using is Billion 7300 and works fine, and I can even connect to the wireless access via the router and all works fine. I am using Airport Extreme to extend the access area in my house and also use a USB drive for storage attached to the AirportExtreme. The funny thing is that the first couple of weeks I had no problems with the MacBookPro going on the Internet via the Airport. At that time I had the wireless part of the Billion modem disabled so as to avoid possible interference. Suddenly, one day about a week or so ago, the MBP would connect first time to the wireless Airport and to the Internet for only about a few seconds and then no update on any of the web pages. I was suspecting first my ADSL, but that was all along OK. The signal strength to the Airport is strong, but just the connection to the Internet is no longer available. Strange thing is I have in the same room a 24" iMac and this is still connected to the Internet via the Airport with no problems. Same settings on both! I tried everything I could think off on the Airport, tweaked, changed, reset and created new connection - but without any luck. It is as if the Airport decided to just block the MBP for whatever reason. I also have the Little Snitch, which I disabled too.
I was hoping that the latest Leopard 10.5.7 would have a fix for such a behaviour, but no change.
I cannot make any conclusion as everything contradicts: if the MBP wireless has a problem, I wouldn't be able to connect to the Billion wireless; if the Airport is at fault I should not be able to connect to it with the iMac. I go to work where other two brands of wireless hot-spots I use (D-Link and Billion 7402) and I have no problems swicthing between the two. It seems only Apple's Airport is a problem for my new MBP.
It must be something in the software of the Airport or MBP ?!?!?
APPLE, PLEASE HELP, THIS IS ANNOYING.
I already spent three days trying to solve a problem that should be 'No Brainer" according to the Apple's design books. But I do have a problem that I did not know about before.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

  • Why does my ipod keep losing its network connection?

My ipod keeps losing its network connection every few minutes. Ive tried resetting the network settings, resetting the router and neither worked.  Apart from my SpeedTouch router being knackered any other suggestions please?

Any chance there is interference in the area?
Do other devices and computers work? and are they wired or not?

  • Won't reconnect to network when awoken from sleep

What would cause my G5 to not be able to connect to my network when awoken from Sleep? The only way to resolve this is with a complete re-boot of the system - too much like a PC, IMHO.
The G5 will not automatically re-connect nor is it possible to connect manually by typing in the name of the network as well as the password. Again, only a re-boot of the G5 will allow me to re-connect. iBook G4 has never had a problem with this (which is on the same network).
    Any ideas?
    TIA

  • Since updating to Lion the iMac won't recognise the external hard drive (maxtor) when waking from sleep mode,

Hi All, Since updating to Lion, my imac won't recognise the ext HDD (Maxtor) when waking from sleep mode, I have tried another port, diisc utility (Ext HDD not listed in here) but nothing works. I now find that I have to restart the imac to get the drive recognised..which is fine until the imac goes into sleep mode then I lose the drive and have to restart etc etc.....anyone suffering same issue.  The Ext Drive worked perfectly until the upgrade..

Thanks for this, and apologies for delay in replying...in between seeing your post I backed up the ext hdd to another mac and used the disc utility to erase and repair and then re mounted the ext hdd. OK.  I have then tested the ext hdd being recognised when waking from sleep mode a few times and everything appears to be fine. If this doesn't work (long term) I will follow the instructions as you have suggested....
I now have a new problem with my HP printer (Photosmart Plus) which is not being recognised by a new wireless router..Ok whilst the router is switch on and I have reconfigured the printer..but when the router is switched off overnight and then switched back on...I get a 'printer is not connected' message and have to go through the re configure routine all over. I am minded to think this is a router problem as the same issue is happening to my wifes Mac Book Pro (which is only a few weeks old)...any suggestions..

    Hi,
I have an Imac 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo desktop which I have upgraded to lion.
Recently I keep getting kernel panics when waking from sleep mode and I cannot figure out what it is.
I am not very computer savy - I.e. I use a computer but don't know programming etc.

Hi, for other peoples information - I finally figured out the problem. It was actually a faulty RAM module which I had bought. I had upgraded from 2 to 4 gb of RAM using an approved type of RAM for my particular computer. Finally I removed one module of RAM (after doing nearly everything else under the sun including trying to reinstall the operating system and wipe the computer etc) and the computer worked fine.

  • Wifi disconnects when waking from sleep mode; running Mountain Lion

Had this same issue with Lion as well,, wifi disconnects when waking from sleep mode,,,any ideas how to fix this pesky issue?

    Hi Sky,
This has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.

  • Macmini 2011 on lion, goes to a blue screen om monitor when awakening from sleep mode, last 3 or 4 seconds, can anyone help? Thanks

Macmini 2011 on lion, goes to a blue screen on monitor when awakening from sleep mode, last 3 or 4 seconds, before desktop appears, can anyone help? Thanks

Depending on the system configuration, this may not
be unusual.  The Mini that I use for my home theater,
which is connected to a receiver then to a TV, all via
HDMI usually takes a couple seconds to come up just
the way yours does.  Same happens when I switch sources
on the receiver.  Actually, it starts with the blue screen and
will sometimes flash before the desktop comes up.
It seems that when HDMI goes dormant, there is handshaking
that needs to be re-established, at least thats my SWAG on it.
On the other hand, the Mac Mini Server that I use as a work
station and is connected to a Thunderbolt Display, wakes to desktop
in a second, maybe two.  On this combo, it just comes up to
    the desk top.
It also probably depends on what processes were active when
the Mini was put to sleep.  So it may take some time for it to get around
    to reloading the desktop.

  • Firefox crashes windows 7 when recovering from sleep mode

    Similar to the following:
    http://support.mozilla.com/pl/forum/1/627872?s=window+7+crash&as=s
but not sure whether it depends on pages that are currently opened.
Sometimes, when recovering from sleep mode on win7 (with only Firefox and VS2008 running), win7 crashes. What's important - It doesn't happen always, but still, it's annoying (Firefox starts with startpage only).
I've been noticing this issue on different Firefox versions from Firefox 3.5 to 3.6.6.

Same exactly problem here, very annoying when the computer goes to sleep mode and then Firefox locks up.

  • Apple TV loses wireless network connection when using AirPlay from iPad or iPhone 5

Our Apple TV loses connectivity to our wireless network while using Airplay from our iPad or iPhone 5. This started occurring after the latest iOS update. We are able to wirelessly stream movies from iTunes without any problem. This issue occurs only when using AirPlay. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I have a:
new MBPr 15" late 2013 with dedicated graphics card
    new airport extreme base station
    3rd generation apple tv
    iPhone 5s
200mb download speed (not important, as streaming video on your local network has nothing todo with outside bandwidth)
All equipment is up to date software wise. Airplay mirroring from my laptop to my apple tv is ok. I get frequent lag, pixelation, audio skip (every 10 mins or so).
I'm using the 5ghz specturm to connect to the airport express so shouldn't have any inteference from my neibours (accordiing to iStumbler i'm the only person with a 5ghz setup using channel 30). I've tried connecting apple tv wirelessly and wired. No issues streaming from my iPhone or an iPad!
Surprisingly, using apps such as Beemer or Air Video Server on my MBP work better than native mirroring when it comes to video play back.
Strange when you think how Air Video works:
    Video file lives on MBP
    iPhone connects to laptop
Video plays on iPhone and is sent to Apple TV via Air Mirroring
    Rather than:
    Video played on laptop
    Video sent to Apple TV
Seems bizzare that my iPhone can handle better streaming than my pro laptop.

  • 3000 N100 lost network connection when resuming from standby

My Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop seems to lose it's network connection when it resumes from standby.  I have to restart the machine in order to reconnect to the ethernet network.  Running WindowsXP Pro.  Any advice or suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Sorry for presumption that it was wireless connection issues, it might work since the solution involves tweaking or changing power management settings.
However, if does not work you can still look for the solution in that website by entering the problem in the search dialogue box and clicking "search site"

  • Network connection after waking from sleep

Hi... More or less any time I allow my MacBook Pro to go to sleep, when I wake it up I am nearly always disconnected from my Airport connection (I connect to a NetGear wireless router via my internal Airport card). I go up to the menu bar and click on the now grey airport icon and I do still see my network in the list of available networks. I click on it, after several seconds a message comes up that says "there was an error joining the Airport network "network name""... But I then simply click on OK (rather than Try Again, I've learned that by trial and error) and the network reconnects just fine... Then when I let the machine sleep again at some later time, I do that all again... Any suggestions of what might be going on??? I do have "Use Interference Robustness" turned on (not that I know why exactly) but I've also had it off before and that seems not to matter... Any suggestions??? thanks... bob..

I have "join preferred networks" selected, and mine os the only one on the list, and it still does not connect after waking from sleep. It is WEP security, not WPA2. I checked out the following article, but it was of no help:
