im a new users i dont know much about the computer
any help please im a college student and i need it!!!

Try unplugging the machine's power cord itself for a few seconds (15 secs should do it) and then plug in back in. This should reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and may allow you to at least restart the machine.
Then check your panic.log file located at your Library/Logs folder and see what is causing these panics...Here is a link for a brief explanation of kernel panics: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106227
Here's a link to resetting the SMC on Apple's support pages: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446
If this doesn't work you can try resetting the PRAM by holding down the Command-Option-P-R keys when starting up the computer. Here's the link to doing that on Apple's support pages: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238

  • It turns on, but black screen... PSLC0U 01S01F

Yesterday my labtop turned off, and since yesterday. My labtop will turn on but its just a black screen. Ill unplug it and take out the battery then put the battery back in and it still just turns on but with a black screen.... i need some assittance.

Could be hardware or software. Try an external monitor and see if you get the same results. If the external monitor is in color, it's probably your LCD screen is bad or has a bad connection. If the external monitor is in black and white too, it still could be hardware, but probably the system board if it is a hardware problem.
Turn on the computer and tap the F2 key a couple times. This should get you into the Bios. If the Bios is in color then it is a software issue. If not, that is the Bios screen is black and white, it's hardware.

  • I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well.

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well. However, itunes can not do anything with the phone because the phone is locked and I can not unlock the phone because the screen is black.
    >CURVEBALL!!!<
The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
    Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

my iphone 5's screen blacks out every now and then. the phone is turned on but the screen is black and i can receive calls. what is wrong with my phone?

I have to believe this has something to do with iOS 7 issues. I have taken my screen blacked out 5s twice to the Genius Bar and the found a bunch of system apps had crashed.  So if this is the case, is iOS7 the problem?

  • Equium A300D-16C turns on but the screen shows nothing/stays black

Hi there, I have a Toshiba Equium A300D-16C laptop.
    It was fine until now...
When I press the power button, my laptop turns on but the screen remains black / off.
HDD indicator doesn't flash or anything ... ( in case this helps )
I've also tried to remove the battery, hold the power button for 30s and plug the power cord back in... Same thing laptop turns on but screen is black.
I tried to connect my laptop to my PC's monitor using HDMI cable but no success... Laptop turned on but my pc's monitor was showing nothing.
I haven't changed anything inside my laptop or unscrewed it.
    PS:
I quite often kept my laptop on the bed/pillow so it may have something to do with overheating or something.
How did I get to this point:
Yesterday my laptop was fine, there was nothing wrong with it... I switched it off at night but when I tried to switch it back on this morning that's where I faced this problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Rejanu.

    Hello
    > I tried to connect my laptop to my PC's monitor using HDMI cable but no success... Laptop turned on but my pc's monitor was showing nothing.
Its very good that you have this test with an external monitor because so you could make sure its not related to internal monitor and its working properly.
Well, you have tried a lot so my personal opinion is its a serious hardware malfunction It could be related to mainboard or CPU in my opinion
I think such hardware diagnostic can only be done from an authorized service provider. I think you should contact the guys. They can help you to get rid of this problem :)

My 2008 MacBook Pro is turning on but the screen stays black. It makes the turning on noise but nothing happens after that. Can anyone tell me what wrong with it and maybe help me out??

    Make a PRAM reset > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 Also, reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If they don't work, that may be a display or GPU issue. Take your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller. If you want to know which is the part, connect an external display

My iphone 4s will still work and is still turned on but the screen will not light up. its completely black and my top button is broken.

Apple won't replace an iPhone under warranty if the iPhone has been opened/tinkered with by you or by a 3rd party, but they may under Apple's out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price.
There is only one way to find out for certain.

  • I have just bought a brand new iMac plugged it in and nothing, black screen any suggestion, not a great start to my first mac experience

I just bought a new iMac, plugged it in and nothing, black screen any suggestions and the apple support function is no help, real glad I bought the apple care plan and you can only use that if your machine turns on!

If you bought the computer at an Apple Store return it. Let them know you aren't happy about your start in the Mac world. If you bought the computer online and have an Apple Store nearby you can take it there even though you didn't buy it there. Note: if going to an Apple store go online and make an appt with the Genius. Stores tend to be busy so this will give you a time to know you can walk in and pretty quickly get attention. Just walking in with a dead computer you may have to wait a while.
No Apple store nearby? No problem, call AppleCare and they'll take care of you. Ask for expedited return & shipment and again, let the technician know you are new to the Apple world and not happy. The last time I brought home a dead computer I not only got a replacement right away but I got an Apple gift card for my inconvenience.

  • IMac kernel panics and freeze

My iMac is one year old and has worked fine but two days ago my iMac G5 (w/ iSight) started crashing and the kernel panic message comes up. So when I force restart I get to the log on screen and then the mouse freezes. Sometimes, I am able to log on but then about 5 minutes later the mouse will freeze again. This has been an endless cycle for these past two days. Luckily, I am using my iMac G4.
I tried resetting the PRAM and PMU, but it didn't work.
I tried installing the 10.4.9 combo but it didn't work either.
My computer doesn't fall under the repair extension program.
I don't know what the problem is :[

    Hi
I am not sure if this is where I should put this, but, looked up kernel panics - yours is the most recent one! I had one today, and had not had one for years...
So - here it goes - I'll copy and paste...
I haven’t had a kernel panic for years – but today I did.
    Here’s what happened:
On the internet at the school where I work. Just had Mail open – nothing else. Went to shut down, and the panic thing showed. I pushed and held restart, and it just shut down, and did not restart.
When I got home tonight, it started, said that OSX had quit unexpectedly – and I had the choice to report or not. I clicked report, but nothing happened. So I am posting this as suggested in Mac OS X: How to Log a Kernel Panic
    Thanks.

  • Working ipad BUT black screen, have tried everything, please help

Please help. I have an ipad with a black screen. The screen works because when I reset by holding the buttons down for 10 seconds, it restarts and I can see the Apple logo. When I touch the screen, voice is on, if I try turning off the voice with 3 finger tap, the voice turns off but the screen is still blank. I have tried updatinf the ipad's software via ITunes, but that has not made a difference. I have also tried to restore from backup, but it wants my password and there is no way to input it with a blank screen!  I cannot think of anything else that I can do. I ipad clearly is working but without the screen showing I cannot seem to do anything?
    Advice appreciated.

I have solved this now by going into an Apple store.
They basically had to do a hard reset as they admitted their was some sort of software problem. They connected the ipad via Itunes, held the home and power button together for 8 seconds, then released the power button whilst still holding onto the the home button.
This then opens up various menu prompts on your PC/Mac to have a complete reload.
I am afraid to restore the ipad back from a previous version in case the problem happens again. At least it is working now though!
