IMac late-2013 not working as external display to t430s with thunderbolt cable
Can anyone confirm wether this actually works?
- TP: Bios is at the latest upgrade-level
- TP: thunderbolt is enabled in bios
- TP: OS is Win7
- I know how to boot in Target Display Mode on the iMac (pressing T during boot - the thunderbolt-log is shown on-screen - never worked with Cmd-F2 nor Fn-Cmd-F2)
- there is a chime ("ding-dong") on the TP suggesting that it detects the imac going in-or-out of Target Display Mode
- in the sysinfo of the imac it is confirmed that a thunderbolt-cable is attached but "no device detected"
thx
pascal
No luck so far.
Thunderbolt is disabled in the T430s bios settings (security tab)
What setting should I select as the boot Display Device (bios > config > display)? I assume it should be "Digital on Thinkpad", right? I do not have Nvidia Optimus technology btw
Jin, when you say "your iMac should automatically detect the DP input and switch on" do you mean exactly that? That the imac screen should switch to the thinkpad's desktop with no pushing of a key on the mac-keyboard whatsoever?
thx
pascal

Out of office replies in Exchange 2013 not working for external recipients
Hi,
Few days ago a couple of company workers went to vacation. They set up OOF automatic replies in OWA 2013. However automatic replies are not working for external recipients (outside of company). Internal users (company users) receive OOF notification.
I'm using smart host in sender connector configuration (SMTP server of internet provider) to deliver emails. Any clues about this problem ? Please find below part of the transaction log. For testing purposes i set up administrator account
to be on vacation.

Please check if it is allowed in AllowedOOFType of the Remote Domain *
In Exchange 2013, the only way to see or change the current configuration for automatic replying and forwarding to the Internet is via the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) with PowerShell commands.
To get the currently configured Remote Domains, use:
Get-RemoteDomain
Name DomainName
AllowedOOFType
Default *
External
Get-RemoteDomain Default | fl AllowedOOFType, AutoReplyEnabled, AutoForwardEnabled
AllowedOOFType : External
AutoReplyEnabled : False
AutoForwardEnabled : False
To change the settings, use the Set-RemoteDomain command.
Enable automatic replies
Set-RemoteDomain -AutoReplyEnabled $true
Enable automatic forwards
Set-RemoteDomain –AutoForwardEnabled $true
Enable OOF for Outlook 2003 and previous (for Exchange 2007 and 2010 support)
Set-RemoteDomain –AllowedOOFType $ExternalLegacy
To change all these properties at once, you can use:
Set-RemoteDomain Default -AutoReplyEnabled $true –AutoForwardEnabled $true –AllowedOOFType $ExternalLegacy
Note:
Valid settings for the AllowedOOFType property are:
External
This is the default and only allows for the new style OOF messages as introduced in Outlook 2007.
ExternalLegacy
This settings allows for both the new style and old style OOF messages and needs to be set if you want to enable external OOF support for Outlook 2003 as well.
None
This setting doesn’t allow for the use of OOF messages at all (both internal and external).
InternalLegacy
This setting only allows for internal OOF messages to be sent for all Outlook versions.

Satyajit

To use imac 27 late2009 as monitor for macbook pro 13 rethina with thunderbolt cable
when i us a thunderbolt cable from mac book pro rethina to my imac 27 late 2009 nothing happen, even with command F2 i can not use the imac as monitor for the mcbook pro
You have got a problem: your iMac does not detect Thunderbolt cables because it has got Mini DisplayPort instead. However, you can use your iMac as a display for your MacBook Pro.
To do this, you need to get a Mini DisplayPort cable like this one and connect it to your iMac and the MacBook Pro. Then, press Command and F2 keys on your iMac and it will show up as a screen for your MacBook Pro.

IMac Late 2013 - video card and display totally glitches
HI.
Today, something strange is happened.
Looks like the video or display in my iMac Late 2013 is totally broken. I don't know what to do now.
Teh screen is always blinking, glitch and unresponsive. Impossible to use the mouse. I can see partially only 10% of the screen with a distortion from the top of the screen..... It's annoying. imac is almost new, I've bought it and started use it from the January 2014.
The problem is - that in my country (Belarus) there are no any official apple service...
as I understood - need to replace gpu, but gpu is an Intel Iris Pro. And I guess replacement will touch all the board.
such a problem... I hope there is a way to fix somehow?
A Little bit details:
iMac was not overheated. there was not any damages or something else. iMac is standing on the table and used maybe for a 5-8 hours in week. Without any hard load (graphic load). So this is double strange for me. Looks like factory defect or something like this.
Im very upset. Thanks for the reply!
I've tried to unplug everything (before was plugged only a4tech mouse and HP printer), and reboot the system. Nothing helps . i've performed reboot about 10 times. Also I've tried to reset SMC (unplug power cord for 15 sec, then plug 5 sec after, cmd opt p r) so sad. I can't use apple service in my country because of lack of service at all, only unofficial... Anyway thanks for replies... I will try to find the way to transport iMac to the nearest country with an apple service.... So sad, it was never happened with me, first critical issue with an apple device. -
Thunderbolt connection not active between iMAC Late 2013 and MBA Late 2013
Hi,
I'm not able anymore to connect again the iMac and MBA by Thunderbolt cable. Some months ago I was able to use iMac as MBA external display and to activate Thunderbolt bridge. Now, the bridge is not active also if cable is connected. Is there some steps to do to reactivate the connection.
Thank you.Hello BiagioParuolo,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like you are experiencing issues using your iMac in Target Display Mode. The following resource may provide a solution:

Mbpr 15" late 2013 doesn't sleep when display attached
Hi,
I have a problem with my new macbook pro retina 15" late 2013.
I connect my display (eizo ev2736) to the macbook via displayport. When I put the macbook on sleep after working, it seems to be in sleep. But about every 30-60 seconds the eizo wakes up with no image and goes on standby again. It's doing this until I unplug it. So, I went through the logs of the macbook and I can see that it isn't on sleep/standby. It wakes up every few seconds. With my eizo ev2335 this problem doesn't exist. But is this a know error? The Eizo EV2736 isn't a rare screen, at the moment it's very popular and well known.
I copied some minutes from the log, maybe someone could find something. I put it on sleep on 23:59 and both displays were plugged in.
I hope it fits in here:

Thanks for taking the time to think about my issue and respond. But I don't see where your response is relevant.
I want to connect two monitors, each via Mini-Display Port, and only one will work at a time. I am not using DVI cables at all. In this article, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6068, it clearly states that I can connect three monitors via Thunderbolt (mini-display port) as long as they're on different busses. I was doing that, and it didn't work.
What display configurations can I use with my Mac Pro (Late 2013)?
You can connect up to six displays to your Mac Pro (Late 2013) running Windows 8 via Boot Camp. Check the list below to be sure you're setting up your displays in a supported configuration via the HDMI and Thunderbolt ports.
You can connect:
Six Apple LED Cinema Displays (27-inch) or third-party displays via Thunderbolt. For best results, attach displays to different Thunderbolt busses when possible (see figure below).
Three Apple Thunderbolt Displays (27-inch). Connect only one per Thunderbolt bus (see figure below). Note: You could connect three more LED Cinema Displays (27-inch) or third-party displays, one per Thunderbolt bus, for a total of six displays.
Two Apple Thunderbolt Displays (on Thunderbolt bus 1 and 2) and one 4K Ultra HD TV using HDMI.
Two 4K displays (on Thunderbolt buses 1 and 2) and one 4K Ultra HD TV on HDMI). -
Can I install a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB into the new iMac late 2013?
Hi There,
1) Can a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD be installed in the new iMac late 2013 model? (My plan is to remove the existing 1TB HDD and replace with the Samsung SSD)
1.1) I have heard somewhere, even though it will fit, Apple's logic board firmware will pick up the non-apple product and render the iMac useless until original hard drive is reinstalled.
1.2) If it will work, will I loose my warranty on iMac? Note, the SSD will be installed by an Apple authorized workshop.
2) Can 2x 2.5 sata drives be installed in the iMac?
2.1) I know the iMac only has 1x SATA and 1x PCIe slot, but can one not install a PCIe - SATA converter and also a 2x 2.5 drive bay in the place of the existing 3.5" drive?
Thanks for your assistance.
Regards,
asdutoitI checked on the Samsung website and the 840 Pro is OSX compatible and should work in your MBP.

Persisting crashes with brand new iMac late-2013 27-inch (14,2)
Please help!!!
Last week I purchased the latest iMac late-2013 (14,2) 27 inch with everything top range directly from the Apple Online Store. My configuration in a nutshell is the iMac (of course) with wireless keyboard and magic mouse, attached to it through Thunderbolt a LaCie 5Big (10TB) external drive as well as a USB connected WD MyBook (2TB) for Time Machine and a USB3 connected WD MyPassport (2TB) for those files I want to keep mobile between my devices, all of this on OSX 10.9.1. Futher details on the hardware below:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac14,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 3.5 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 8 MB
Memory: 32 GB
Boot ROM Version: IM142.0118.B00
SMC Version (system): 2.15f2
My problem is that it keeps crashing... sometimes while doing some Final Cut X or Logic Pro X but other times while simply copying files between hard disks while Time Machine is running and everything else is closed... I can't figure out what the root cause or the particular event that triggers the crashes, thus they are quite unexpected and pretty abrupt - no warning signs at all.
I read in some of the threads that the 3rd party RAM may cause some problems but my 32Gb RAM came directly from Apple as configured while purchasing.
Here is the latest report my system gave me and I know some of you folks are pretty good figuring out what these messages mean. I will most likely get in touch with Apple support but before I do, I wanted to check with you geniuses before I spend hours on the phone with Apple support. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
You may want to do a hardware test to determine if there is a hardware failure:

IMac (late 2013) periodically shuts down after updating to Yosemite
I have a 27 inch iMac (late 2013, have had it 6 mos.) which I updated to Yosemite and after the update, it has just shutdown 5 or 6 times, (panic reports say 5 times). The system also seems sluggish at times... It has worked like a charm until the upgrade. I'm trying to decide whether to reinstall Yosemite -which went smoothly- or to try to go back to Mavericks. I have the System Diagnostic Reports as well as the system diagnostic test, I just don't know how to interpret the results. Does anyone have the expertise to explain what is happening? (I'm not a novice, but haven't played with unix for 18 years!)
Thanks in advance,
MarkI have a similar problem on my iMac 27-inch Mid 2011. No problems before upgrade yesterday to Yosemite. System settings show positive connection for wifi and ethernet. But web & mail access doesn't work for ethernet. Wifi access works only if I change service order with wifi listed before ethernet.
Apple phone support blamed it on my internet provider or router. However, our 2nd iMac (identical model) has web & mail access with ethernet. The other iMac is still running Mavericks. So the problem is clearly Yosemite.
I have put in a request for Apple support to call me tomorrow, & I'll see if they try the blame game again. -
Brand new 27-inch iMac Late 2013 repeatedly crashing with Mavericks
Hi folks,
I have a brand new 27-inch Mac from late 2013 running OS X 10.9.1 (Mavericks) with:
3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
32 GB RAM
3 TB Fusion drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
My system is hanging repeatedly, requiring a forced restart by holding down the power button - kernel panic I guess. Can't find a specific trigger, but I might be missing something.
I've tried reinstalling the OS, and a full erase and reinstall, but I'm still getting the problem. I've also run the hardware checker and verified the hard disc - all report the system is OK.
Annoyingly I can't startup in safe mode - think that's to do with having a 3TB Fusion drive.
Any suggestions? If I need to post a crash log can you let me know what bit is needed?
Thanks for your help.
PS All the RAM was installed by Apple btw, so I don't think it's the mismatched voltage thing that others have had. Similarly, Google Drive is installed but not currently running.Hi Etrecheck - thanks for your help. I've run th software - here are the results:

Corsair Ram for iMac late 2013
Hi,
I got a new iMac 27" late 2013, and bought 32GB Ram somewhere else. It's 4x8GB Corsair Mac Memory DDR3 1600MHz PC3 12800 (CMSA16GX3M2A1600C11).
I got several Kernel Panics, but only with the Corsair Ram. Everything seems to work fine if I use the original 8GB hynix.
Memtest shows no problems with the Corsair Rams at all...
My questions: Am I right to suggest that the Corsair Ram is causing the Problem, altough memtest shows no problems? If yes, should I return the faulty RAMs and get the same as replacement or would you suggest different RAMs? If yes, which ones?
Here's the Diagnostic Report from after the last Kernel Panic:

Lord GallifreyI'd like to Order via Amazon (it's the easiest way for me) but I'm not sure which one.
Would someone help me to decide?
This one seems to be officially compatible with the iMac late 2013: http://www.amazon.de/Crucial-memory-PC3-12800-1600MHz-Macbook/dp/B008LXX9OC
But this one is cheaper, and the technical Data seems to be the same, but I read already bad ratings about them: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008PSEHAS/ -

IMac late 2013 - OSx downgrade issue
Hi All,
We have tried multiple option to downgrade OS of new iMac (Late 2013) model but no luck, as we have some in-house application will not work on 10.8 or above we need to downgrade the OSx to 10.6 or 10.7. We request all of you to please provide a solution on this. If you required more information please let me know.
Regards,
AshishIf the Late 2013 iMac shipped with Lion (but it did not) it would be able to boot into that if the recovery partition still contained the older (you didn't get) 10.7.5. In several instances, after certain upgrade paths, the computer will not go back to the original version; and in computers that do not have optical drives or original system installers on DVD media included, the recovery partition and/or internet recovery are the means available. The Late 2011 iMac 21.5" shipped Lion 10.7.x
Several developers keep an older computer with system intact for test purposes when building applications or utilities; this has been commonplace for decades, with Macs. Nothing really new.
A cheap restored MacBook could do it.
Good luck & happy computing! -
My iMac (Late 2013) change 2 sets of Corsair 2x16GB memory (CMSA16GX3M2A1600C11) but always hang suddenly
I have checked it by memtest and show all ok, are any one know what the problem is? Many thanks!Well, I only buy my RAM from one of the two most recommended RAM vendors here: OWC (macsales.com) or Crucial; not sure if the dual channel would have something to do with your problem, but I'd test with the old RAM - if it works, then it appears to be the RAM or try the Apple hardware test (run that in extended mode at least twice).
FWIW, I've not seen a positive post about Corsair; Macs have always been extremely finicky about their RAM.
