iMac losing wiffi connection with airport express when sleeping. I can't wake the iMac with the remote app on the iPhone. when i open airportconfiguration on the iphone is see that the imac isn't connected anymore. Normaly the airport express wake up the iMac but it doens't. What is wrong?
anyone knows a reason for the item above?

I just got my Imac to connect to the internet using my Airport Extreme but only by using WEP. I had my Windows XP SP2 machines connecting using WPA/WPA2 with no problem. The Imac will not connect using anything other than WEP, and 1 of the XP machines will not connect using WEP.(I have not tried the other XP machines) I had to set the Airport Extreme for an open network in order to let both computers access the shared hard drive and access the internet.
I don't know what the problem might be and would appreciate any suggestions.

That is the only adapter that actually does WPA/WPA2 that I can find that is for a Mac and not just an older USB that only does WEP. It surprises me that Apple does not have a USB product like this. Anyway, for $56 including shipping, I will have it by Monday or Tuesday. Pretty cool.

I have an ipad 2 with airport express that I use to play and change music whilst teaching ballet class. Recently, I keep losing connection and the airport express appears to be getting quite hot. I did use Archos but changed to Apple for reliabilty! Can anyone help or should I just buy a new airport express.
I agree that it's probably interference. Only other possibility, since you mentioned it, it overheating. Is the express situated so that it is well ventilated? That is to say, not buried under other equipment and laying on its side? What does the status light do when you lose connection?

Extend Wifi with Airport Express when Airport Extreme is in Bridge Mode

I'm trying to make my Wifi network easier at home but Im having some trouble.
My Internet Provider installed a Router at home. So I had to connect my Airport Extreme to the IP Router via cable and setup in Bridge Mode.
In my Airport Extreme I created a Wifi Network called WIFI HOME.
Than I connected two Airport Express into my Airport Extreme via cable and created two new wifi networks: WIFI HOME 2 and WIFI HOME 3.
But, in my opinion, this is not cleaver way to have my Wifi Network setup, since I have to change networks all the time.
The problem is that every time I tried to extend my current WIFI HOME setup into one of the Airport Express, the Airport Express crashes during the setup reset and my network starts to behave wrongly.
I'm starting to think that is something related to the Bridge Mode in my Airport Extreme. but I want to check with you guys if that makes any sense.

Disconnect the Ethernet cables
Wait a minute
Power up one of the AirPort Express devices for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button on the Express for 10 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the AirPort Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Express if it is a two port version
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen
Look for a listing of New AirPort Bsee Station
Click on AirPort Express
The setup utility will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network. Then, it will suggest that the Express be configured to Extend the AirPort Extreme network.
Type in a name that you want to call the AirPort Express. Example........Express1
Click Next
Then, the screen message will change to indicate that the AirPort Express is being configured to extend using Ethernet.
When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done.
The first Express is now set up and working correctly.
Set up the second Express exactly the same way........except give it a different name to avoid confusion.....Example......Express2. -

Running an iMac 2010 with Yosmite latest.
Yesterday, I could not wifi connect to my airport express.
iPhone and iPad and laptop all connect to it great.
I've tried deleting the wifi route in settings/network and re-entering it with Password. No Good.
Funny thing is, that I seem to be able to connect to other local WiFi's around my house. (passworded)
But for my express, it simply keeps asking me to run dx and then offers no real information.
I've also tried changing ip from DHCP to manual and no good there either.
Any ideas please. I'm really going nutz here.

Unfortunately, your post doesn't provide much information on your current set up nor what exactly you are trying to accomplish between the PC and Mac.
I can only assume that you want to be able to share files between the devices, and that you current network configuration includes an AirPort Express Base Station (AX)...correct?. Does your PC have wireless capability as well? -

This is what I am trying to understand.
So AXTRM w/ sep SSID for 2.4 (b/g/n) - call it SSID1 - and 5GHz (ac) call it SSID2 - WiFi Explorer confirms AC mode on 5G.
Using an AXPRESS to extend - I have the option of SSID1 b/g/n *and* the 5GHz ac SSID2 in the pulldown (it sees both?) --> if I select SSID1, it also extends this same SSID in 5GHz (both showing b/g/n) >> so I now have 3 signals on SSID1 (XTRM 2.4G, XPRS 2.4G and XPRS 5G) b/g/n and one signal on SSID2 (XTRM 5G AC) ac
If I select the 5Ghz ac SSID2 to extend - it prompts me "do you also want to extend (the 2.4GHz SSID1)?" --> select yes and I now have 2 signals for SSID (XTRM 2.4G & XPRS 2.4G) b/g/n and 2 signals on SSID2 (XTRM 5G 802.11ac & XPRS 5G 802.11 a//n)
Is the 5G SSID2 actually being extended from the Airport Extreme to the Express?
The reason I bring this up is I am having a lot of issues since iOS8 came out (especially on iPhone 6). Everything I am reading is pointing to when people have 2 AP's set to use the same SSID. When you walk to a part of the house where 5G 802.11 ac signal marginalizes, the phone does not immediately hand over to the 5G 802.11 a/n Airport Express.
My thought was separate the SSID's but to me, if the Express can't extend 5Ghz from the Extreme, it's taking a step backwards. I am better off getting a more powerful router like an ASUS and going with one AP, drop the WiFi roaming altogether

Do I navigate to the Signal website via the Safari browser on my iTouch, and then install Signal onto the iTouch? Or do I install Signal onto my desktop Mac, open the app, and then navigate to the URL provided by Signal using Safari on the iTouch?

My two iMacs frequently go offline when I have my iPad and two iPhones-5 connected with Airport Express (2nd edition). If I disable WiFi on my three "i" devices the offline problem stops. Any thoughts on this?

IMac G5 (Rev. A) can't connect to AirPort Express
We have 2 Macintosh computers at home; one Mac mini G4 1.42GHz (model M9687LL/B) with built in AirPort Extreme card; and one iMac G5 (Rev. A) 1.6 GHz (model M9363LL/A) also with an AirPort Extreme card.
The mini was bought new, while the iMac was used when we bought it. When we bought it, the company (who were selling old Macitosh computers previously rented to other companies) installed and additional 512 MB of RAM (on top of the 256MB already in it) as well as the AirPort Extreme card. We then upgraded the OS from 10.3.9 Panther to 10.4.4 Tiger. Then we used a FireWire cable to copy the harddrive of my dads work computer (iMac G4) to the new one. We then took it home.
At home we had a linksys wireless router (model BEFW11S4) which we used to connect to the internet. Connected to this wireless network was an AirPort Express unit which we used to stream music to the downstairs stereo. However, the linksys router caused many problems, one of them being that everytime we started a computer, the router needed to be restarted to be able to send a signal so we could connect to the internet.
Eventually, we got feed up with this, and took the AirPort Express unit upstairs and replaced the linksys with it. We installed it, and it worked fine. Upstairs (location of Mac mini, the signal strength was always 4 or 3 (the little icon in the menu bar), but downstairs (where the iMac's located), the signal stayed at about 3, or sometimes 2.
After about a week, the downstairs signaled started to be more 2 than 3, but this made no real difference to us, since it still worked. Then, yesterday, it went down to 1, but still worked. Then, today, it stayed at 1, then totally disconnected. When we click the symbol in the menu bar, we can press on the wireless network to tell the computer to connect to it, but it only comes up with a box saying that the computer could not connect to it.
We have tried more or less everything to get it to work. Turning on and off the AirPort Extreme card in the computer, updating the AirPort Express firmware, restarted computers, the whole lot! But it still wont work!
My dad has borrowed an old iBook with a G3 800MHz processor running 10.3.9 Panther. The iBook has an AirPort card in it (not AirPort Extreme), but even downstairs, it gets full (or sometimes 3) connection. I even tried the basement, and it still works!
So my question is, why won't the iMac even connect to the network? Any help is greatly appreciated!
iMac G5, 1.6GHz, 768MB, AirPort Express Mac OS X (10.4.4)I'm having a very similar problem with my iMac. I moved the airport down to the basement last week. Reception was at 3, but droped quickly to 2 and 1 and eventually the iMac lost the connection to the airport.
I brought the airport back to the office where the iMac is located and where the airport used to be, but I was unable to join the network again, even though the signal was received by the computer. I downloaded a widget for the dashboard that showed full strength of the signal.
While having these problems with the iMac, I don't have any problems connecting with my iBook to the network. Since I was able to connect to the airport via the iBook, I changed some of the settings, but nothing really helped except disabling wireless security. Agter that I was able to connect to the network via the iMac again, but only for a couple of minutes until the network disappeared again.
I'm reading about lots of other people having problems with the airport recently. So I suspect that this has to do with the recent OS X update. Hopefully somebody at Apple is looking at this problem right now! -
Itunes will not stay connected to Airport Express with any Yosemite update.
Since installing Yosemite (original and updates) my itunes will no longer stay connected to Airport Express on my iMac. Any ideas?
I have no probblem at all when using ipad or other devices.

Do I connect my airport express to my modem via the WAN port and then connect from airport express to my imac with ethernet cable? Is that how you "hard wire" the connection? Because when I do that, I still can't get online. Thanks.
What is the make & model of your modem?
You pretty much stated the correct wiring. There should be an Ethernet cable connected between the modem and the WAN (circle of dots) port on the AirPort Express base station.
