  • My imac & Mac Book can't FaceTime

I have an iMac & Mac Book Pro, both using the same Apple ID & email address. Face Time is not working between them, what do I need to do?

    Hi shapo,
To FaceTime a contact on your iMac or MacBook Pro, you'll need to FaceTime an Apple ID that is separate from your own.
    iOS: Using FaceTime
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319
When calling someone using an iPad 2 or later, iPad mini, iPod touch (4th generation) or later, or FaceTime for Mac: Use the email address designated for FaceTime of the person you are calling.
On iPad, iPod touch, and FaceTime for Mac, you need to add a person as a contact using the FaceTime or Contacts app before you can call them.
To summarize, a separate Apple ID will need to be used on each device.
    Cheers!
    Matt M.

iPad and iPhone have no direct connection to TC.. they backup to iTunes.. which the computer will backup via TM.

anybody knows if i can install memory from imac 24'' to mac book intel 2,2 (memory type :PC2 6400s -666-12

The older iMac 24's take DDR2-667 modules, whereas the new Macbooks take DDR3. You can't use memory from the former in the latter, or vice versa.
Yeah - but this is the original MacBook forum, and the model series given (MacBook 2,2) would seem to indicate a mid-2007 MacBook which came with PC2-5300 (DDR2 667) 200-pin SODIMMs standard.
It should work, but can't be guaranteed. Most memories should have the "serial presence detect" EEPROM that will list all supported speeds. The SPD EEPROM is a small, permanently-programmed memory that contains coded information (in a standardized format) for all the various configurations that the memory can support. Most PC2-6400 modules should be backwards compatible in PC2-5300 applications. They come in the same "form factor" of a 200-pin SODIMM.
It's worth an effort to try. The worst (with due physical care) that could happen is that it doesn't work and fails to get past power on self test.

addresses and calendar not synching between 3 devices.. phone, iMac and mac book pro.
dates are correct, iCloud is on for those applications. etc.

Your profile shows that you are running OS X 10.6.7.  If that's true, you will need to update a iCloud requires OS X 10.7.5 or later.  If you are running a more recent version of OS X and your data still isn't syncing, check to be sure of the following:
That your Mac and iOS devices are signed into the same iCloud account and have Calendars and Contacts turned on in Settings (System Preferences)>iCloud.
That you have selected iCloud as your Default Account for contacts in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars on your iOS devices and in Contacts (Address Book)>Preferences>General on your Macs.

  • Imac ------- Mac book connection

    Hi,
I recently bought a Mac Book Pro. I love it and was amazed that when i open a new 'Finder Window', my iMac was showing under the Devices Heading! With options to reconnect or disconnect!
I found it really handy as i was able to directly access the iMac desktop, and any folders that are on there. From any other room in the house..
Ive used the 'screen sharing' app/sotware with my ipad in the past, but this connected much more directly!
Now the Imac no longer shows under devices..
Can anyone tell me what i may or may have not done or pressed to cause the connection to be lost?
Its really frustrating! I hope i get some answers..
Look forward to hearing from you all...

    Thanks for your reply..
    Will give it a go.

  • Some sites ask for flash update on ipad, imac, mac book. Seems to be a virus as it is already updated ? How can I fix it ?

all ipads at home, as well as imac and macbook pro, suddenly started to request a flash update when trying to access youtube, google or some other sites. My flash is already up to date in OSX. Then I can not enter into these sites. This seems to be a virus ? Any suggestion how to fix it ?

  • Syncing a new Mac Book Pro

I am wondering what is the easiest way to go about syncing new mac book pro with an iMac? (all itunes content and documents)
Also is there a way to have the imac & mac book pro sync'd in such a way that an iphone can be sync'd with both of them?

iTunes purchased content can be synced between computers using iTunes Home Sharing. (max 5 computers) http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819 explains how to setup & use Home sharing.
iOS devices, such as iphone, are designed to sync with one itunes account per syncing section. a section of syncing might be: music, photos, contacts, calendars, applications. syncing every thing using one computer is best; because there less chance to accidentally delete some thing.
You can how ever sync mobileme contacts, calendars, and mail between both of your computers and your iphone. If you don't have a mobileme account; you would need to purchase one at http://www.me.com/index.html .
http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone_ipod.html explains how to setup mobile me on the iPhone
http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/mac.html explains how to setup mobile me on your macs.
Mobile me also has a place you can put a few files online; where you can access them from your phone , your computers, and other people's computers. You can even remote control one of your macs from the other mac.
    I hope this helps

  • My Mac Book Pro wouldn't start after memory update

I updated my 27" Imac memory up to 16 GB, so I was encouraged to do the same with my Mac Book Pro after watching the video and instructions. However My Mac Book Pro wouldn't start afterwards. It is driving me crazy. Please if someone can help me on this. Thanks

I was trying to install Corsair 8GB (2x 4GB) 1333mhz PC3-10666 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM Laptop Memory Kit CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9; and now I realized that I made a mistake because this Mid 2010 Mac Book Pro uses 1066mhz PC3 8500 instead, so should that be the problem of compatibility? I should guess so, although in my HP Elite I have 800Mhz ddr2 where the bus works at 640 mhz ddr2.
The rest is the same being 204 pin memory cards, etc.
I made this mistake because ordered at the same time this memory along with memory cards for my new 27" iMac, which works at 1333Mhz.
Thankyou again, I will check on if cards are sitting well and if they are PC3 8500 1066 Mhz....

  • Can you use your imac as a monitor for you mac book pro laptop?

Can you use your imac as a monitor for you mac book pro laptop?
I have two computer one being a new mac book pro and the other being a slightly older imac desktop. I am wanting to know if you can use the desktop as a screen for my mac book pro. I just to mirror the laptop onto the desktop because it is more powerful, instead of getting another display for my laptop.
Is this possible and what connections do I need?
    Thanks

  • New Computer: iMac versus Mac Book?

I am going to soon replace my over 5-year old iMac Power PC,800 Mhz, 256MB Ram).
Although I do not need it for travel, I am considering a Mac Book only for the space saving on my desk at home.
What is the functional differences (other than the obvious screen size and hard drive size) between the 13 inch Black Mac Book:
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
    250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
and a 2.4 Ghz iMac custom configured with 2GB of RAM?
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    1GB memory
    320GB hard drive1
    8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory
The Mac Book doesn't specify video memory?
What else would I give up other than screen size (13 inch versus 20 inch)
    and hard drive size?

Video memory is integrated with the Intel X3100 graphics chipset. It uses a part of the main system memory (I believe at least 144MB [or more] although it may be fixed in firmware).
What else would I give up other than screen size (13 inch versus 20 inch)
    and hard drive size?
Graphics performance is probably going to be the biggest issue. Hard drive speed is going to be better with a 3.5" 7200 RPM drive.
I've got a MacBook myself. I use it on a coffee table. It may not have all the features, but it certainly equips itself well for what I want out of it.
