IMac OS X (10.6.8) bought in Turkey - no help

I am very unhappy and desperate about my new iMac OS X (10.6.8) I have bought here in Turkey six months ago.  I am a musician and I have bought it to make the music in a profesinal way... This computer, after I bought it, did work only one month properly - since than I have to wait every time I turn it on for about thirty minutes for its start up and  than five minutes for every application I want to open, for mouse to respond and menu panel to open. I have tryed the hardwer test I have on CD and it did not find any defect, I did reinstal the system and it was again the same. In the shop I did buy it they do not underestand apple computers - it seems that nobody in Turkey does. They just seel them everywhere but not repaire them. Consultation give you nobody and on these pages you find only telephone numbers and some "self tests", which do not work. I find it a big mistake buying a computer like this. It costs me much time, nerves and the whole work became total ineffective and unpossible. If only I have bought a normal PC I would be able to work and in the case of problem to find a help everywhere. I have not other solution than to send it to the USA or Europe? Or to scrap.
Elen

I did not loaded anything. There is just Flash Player: Plug-in version 11.1.102.55 is installed. That is all.
I should mention, that I bought this computer new but it was in the shop all the time switched on - so that everybody could "play" with it. When I had taken it home I could more than one month normal work - compose my music in music garage, and all of a sudden, it has happend this. I left for 4 months to Asia, now I am back and computer makes the same as when I was leaving.
If the system is as Apple delivered it, with the exception of Flash (which can be easily updated), with nothing else added, and you say it sat in the shop for a month, I would be tempted to wipe the disk clean and reload the operating system and programs. That way you know what you have. If you want to do that, follow these steps. Read them all first, and please ask any questions before proceeding.
1a) Backup any of your music or anything else you've created before proceeding.  Backup to an external hard drive, or if not much data, to DVD or USB memory stick, or even another system. Go no further until you've backed up anything you want to save, as it will be erased in the next steps.
1b) Write down the mail settings for any email accounts. email address, server names, passwords, and ports from the advanced tab if using Apple mail. Also write down any networking information you'll need to reestablish your internet connection.
2) You should have been given 2 gray-faced OS X disks with the system when you bought it. Do you have those? I believe yes, as you've run the Apple hardware test. Assuming you've backed up in step number 1 (you did backup??), insert the first gray-faced OS X disk, the "Mac OS X Install DVD", and reboot. This will cause the system to boot and begin the installation. After choosing the language, proceed to the next step, before launching the remainder of the installation
3) On the menu bar, under Utilities, bring up Disk Utiltiy. Choose your hard drive on the left, and then click the erase tab. If you want to start with a really clean disk, choose security options, and write zeros. Once is enough, unless you are paranoid, then choose one of the other options. Choosing another option will take much longer to complete.  If you do a security erase, it writes zero's over any programs and data, so you're starting with a clean hard drive. Given that you may not know everything that is on your system, I'd write zero's once to start clean.
4) Proceed  to install OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. After you boot your system and reestablish your internet connection, download the 10.6.8 V1.1 combo update from  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 . The combo update contains all updates to 10.6, so when you apply it you will be at 10.6.8.  Bring up Disk Utility (on your hard drive in Applications/Utilities), and repair permissions on your hard drive. Run the combo update, and after rebooting, repair permissions again using Disk Utility.
5) Next, install the iMac applications. Insert the second disk "iMac Application Install DVD", and in the finder window that opens, choose to install bundled software.
6) Run Software Update (click the apple on the left of the menu bar) multiple times until it says there are no more updates.
7) You've completed reinstalling your system. Restore the music and other files you saved previously, set up your email, and download the latest Flash from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

You want to write a review about Mountain Lion? I'm not sure that you can write about the OS at the app store - it's not an app. Or are you talking about the online Apple store? If you want to send feedback to Apple, you could use this:

Someone may be able to help you in relation to use of the ZTE phone, & use of Firefox OS, but we are unable to advise on consumer law and the possibility of you being able to get a refund. That is totally outside the scope of this forum. We are fellow users of Firefox helping one another to use Firefox.
You will need to contact the retailer & or some local advisor.

  • Previously installed Aperture3 on an iMac and a MBP. I Bought a new MBA to replace the MBP and I want to install Aperture3 on the new MBA.  The installer says the serial code is invalid? What do I do?

I previously bought Aperture 3 and installed in on an iMac and a MBP.  I just bought a new MBA to replace the MBP, but the MBA doesn't have enough memory for me to do a complete restore of the MBP on the MBA.  So I am trying to find a way to deactivate the serial code or Aperture 3 on the MBP so I can reinstall Aperture 3 on the MBA.  I have been searching forums and google and I have not been any answers.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

How did you buy Aperture? Did you buy it from the App Store? Then you can download it again on your MBA, if you sign into the App Store.
If you bought Aperture buy buying a licence key to unlock the trial, try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number:
    http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
And if you own the boxed DVD installer , use the DVD to install Aperture on your MBA. If the installer does not work - and you get the message
"check with the developer to make sure Aperture works with this version of Mac OS X"
you may have a problem with an expired developer certificate (they expired mid march).
To fix this, set the Date  in " SystemPreferences -> Date&Time" to a date well before March 2012 and run the Installer again. If that succeeds and Aperture now runs, reset the date to the current date.
You can see your serial number in the "About" panel in the main Aperture menu bar on your MBP:
    Aperture > About Aperture.
For the "invaldid serial number" see these links: You may have read the letters incorrectly - some are look alike, "1" or "I", "0" or "O"; your shift-lock key may be set.

  • IMac screen was scratched since we bought it, havent had the time to go...

We needed to keep the iMac around so I can do my work for teaching, since we just recently got a Macbook I can now do without my iMac for a few days. The issue I have is that the screen has been scratched since we bought it, but I didn't have a choice in being able to bring it back Apple for replacement since my other Mac had died and I needed certain software I use on the Mac for teaching.
The iMac is under a year old and just curious if anyone has ever had a similar situation OR maybe an Apple Rep can respond to this.

How long have you had the iMac? Unless you have had it only a short time, it's doubtful that you'll be able to convince Apple that the screen was scratched when you got it. You can of course call Apple and ask, or go back where you bought it if you purchased from an Apple Store. But if you've had it for a number of weeks or months, it's unlikely that they'll be able to do anything for you.
maybe an Apple Rep can respond to this.
As Dennis said, Apple technical and customer service representatives do not normally participate in these forums. You'll need to talk to Apple directly.
    Good luck.

  • I had airplay working fine from imac to apple TV. Just bought an iphone 5s, now it works very badly with both devices. Why?

Airplay from the imac was working fine, adding an iphone 5s to the set-up seems to have led to it not working properly from either device - it skips sections and then drops the connection. Any idea how to fix?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • I returned a leased iMac Pro two weeks before I bought a new iMac desktop so haven't migrated my Firefox bookmarks. Is it possible to retrieve them?

Is it possible to retrieve my bookmarks from past Firefox usage without the old computer?
I don't remember my old username or password, but my email address is the same.

If you haven't used Sync and you don't have the computer (or at least the hard drive) any more, your best bet would have been to back up your bookmarks manually before swapping it out with a new iMac.
If you didn't copy over your profile folder, then it looks like the only way to get back your bookmarks would be to get the old computer back and retrieve your bookmarks. If you would've used Sync, your bookmarks would've been stored onto Mozilla's Sync server(s)
