IMac Retina: Change in color tone on wake up?

It's been discussed here before, but I thought I'd bring it up again to see if someone else's noticed it by now when the iMac's been out for a while.
When waking up from sleep, my iMac does two things.
After maybe two seconds it does a light adjustment.
After 5-8 seconds there seems to be a shift in the color tone, to a warmer one.
Here's a picture showing the color difference right before and right after the tone shift:

I do not use Flux.
I'm using the standard iMac color profile
Automatic light adjusting doesn't seem to affect this.

Premiere Pro CS5.5 -very strange issue with the color tones and Preview-

I deal with a very strange and not usual problem in Premiere Pro CS5.5 (also the version CS5). What I try to do is just a simple color correction. The problem occurs when I try to use Three Way Color Corrector but it happens with Fast Color Corrector also.
When applying the Three-Way Color Correction and without changing anything else (just applying), can be seen in the preview of the soft how sudden changes in color tones. For example, the gray tone becomes a little more green, but also can be seen very easy a change in the other color tones too. In fact even RGB Parade show the same thing. This is very, very strange and unacceptable and saw that it happens when trying to use Colorista II too.
I tried the same thing in Sony Vegas Pro 11 and I downloaded the trial version of Edius 6 to convince me if the same thing happens. Not! In Sony Vegas and Edius everything is working correctly, I have not experienced these problems in the preview's of this 2 others softs.
This issue is very annoying because every possible color correction is based on what we see in the preview and if in this preview the tones are seen altered realize that can not make a decent color correction. Yes Jim, you're right. No changes in the scopes when one just apply RGB Curves, Fast Color Corrector, RGB Color Corrector or the Three way Color Corrector (last three thanks to the new update 6.03). I already wrote that Adobe team has been able to fix this bug for some of the tools/effects.
But Brightness&Contrast? Change Color? Color Balance? Levels? MBLooks? Twixtor? Colorista II? Does it seem normally that all scopes or just one of them jump when you just apply one of these effects/tools? Not to say that in some situations even the tones change (especially in shadows&midtones).
You say this is something "very minimal". I say it is not so. I don't find normally to make a very detalied CC with Three way Color Corrector and then when applying Colorista/MBLooks, for example, the scopes jump and inclusively some tones may be influenced. And I left clear examples in this topic where you can see that this is possible. I don't know if this is "very minimal" or not, but is really so impossible to edit in Premiere without this "very minimal" issue?!? How can it be possible in other softs (Edius, Media Composer, Vegas Pro) and in Premiere not?!?
One more thing: many of us use intermediate codecs in the editing process. Do you find normally that a AVCHD video have the lumninance at approximately 110IRE, to export it directly to Cineform and then import it in Premiere, and the waveform shows the luminance at 100IRE?!? How is this possible?!? So the AVCHD video have a 110IRE luminance, you convert this video to Cineform without changing anything, and then this Cineform video have the luminance at 100IRE?!? And anyone can verify this example.
So, how can one trust in this soft?!?

IMac "27 Retina, slight change in hue/tint on wake up?

I've noticed that on waking up, my iMac first adjust brightness after a second or two, then a few seconds later there's a slight change in the hue/tint to a warmer color.
This only seem to happen when the computer's been in sleep mode for a while, and can't be replicated if you put it in sleep mode and then wake it up again shortly after.
I haven't done any calibrating or changed the color profile and I'm using the admin account.

I just updated my MacBook Pro late 2011 15" to Mountain Lion. Whenever I open an app like VLC,Forklift,GoogleEarth,Photo Booth my color tone changes into a colder color. How can i disable this?

Mountain Lion is great, but i have been facing some difficulties, first of all my apps were gone i had to reinstall all most all of them.
That is not the big problem, the problem is that whenever i open apps like photobooth, lightroom, or vlc my color tone changes. This is used to happen when I opened really intense apps eg mafiaII or like GTASA. Is there any way to disable this?

try disabling it, take a took at these snaps from my phone. Might not be really clear but can give you an idea

Hi guys.. occasionally I click something not sure what, as my pen on a Wacom tablet is very trigger happy.... then all the tracks turn a lighter green and I cant edit them any more.
I feel sure that this may be a right click accident or a setting with a shortcut I accidentally use. However stp has not locked up and I am just wondering what I may be doing.. is there a setting which this may be ... so that I can then unselect again.

Try running in Safe mode. This leaves out some video drivers. Which results in machine not using advanced video hardware.

How do I change a color to another in a bitmapData image?

Let's say you have an image of a cartoon human that is wearing a blue jacket with white sleeves, blue shoes, and grey pants. Brown hair and biege skin tone.
(My project actually has 1300 of these images - 325 are blue cloths, 325 are red cloths, 325 are green cloths, and 325 are purple cloths)
I am having a major problem with file size and memory usage due to all the images, so I have been asked to see if there was a way I could programmatically change the clothing color... this way we can use any color we want, and only have 325 base images.
I have been trying to play with color matrix filter and color transform, but I can't seem to get the hang of it
Is there a way I can extract only the "blue" colors from the image and do a hue shift on it to the color that I want it to be without effecting the non-blue colors?
My idea was something along the lines of:
Copy the "blue" color channel, hue shift it, then merge it back into frame....

Oh boy... this seems to be an issue with your manager wanting it done 'NOW' rather than 'CORRECTLY'.
For my original statement to work, the clothing would have to be seperated from the people - as per your suggestion to them - which would make your lives a whole lot easier. The problem with hue shifting the entire image is --> it will hue shift the entier image = all colors, and that may not be the best solution in your situation.
I would suggest replacing the pixel color (eg. getPixel32 and setPixel32 for the size of the image) but it seems that the shoulders and shoes have a darker color tone than the rest of the body.
Secondary solution:
Import one of the image into Flash and do a bitmap trace of the image.
Seperate the clothes and people there.
Add the clothes as a new movie clip and change the color on a few frames 5 or so different colors (so its not too much work)
Show them an example of how 'easy' it is to change the colors CORRECTLY when the images are seperate (even in the same file)
The secondary will give them the 'all in one file' they requested... and also give you solid grounds for convincing them to change the graphics.
Hope this helps. Other wise... its a long not so nice solution which will go over budget because they did not plan for this before they made the graphics.

How can I change a color of an image without affecting the texture, but based on a pantone pick?

Here is an image of a paintbrush stroke that shows the texture of the paint. I want to change the color to a specific pantone green in order to match a specific color pallet. Rather than just using hue saturation to "guess" at the color (no pantone number), is there a way I can actually set a base color without losing the texture?

You can only use the picker values as a guide on an image with many tones.
I presume you are going to print as cmyk, so find the mix of the target colour and make a 'solid colour' adjustment layer and choose that mix. Then set the adj layer properties to 'hue' which should do it.
Otherwise, add a 'hue/saturation' layer (and click on colorize in the adj layer palette) and move the slider to suit.
If you convert to greyscale, you could colorize the pic with the spot colour too.

External Hard Drive not showing up on iMac retina 5K

I have an external hard disk WD Passport 500Go. It does not appear on my iMac Retina but it appears correctly on my macBook Pro.
I have already tried several solutions but nothing seems to work :
Not visible on the finder
Not visible on disk utility
Not visible after running the command diskutil list on the terminal
I tried to do a SMC and PRAM reset but it does not change anything.
Did someone already get the same issue or any ideas to resolve that ?

Performance problems with Photoshop CC 2014 in combination with the imac retina 5k

Hello,
I've been using the new imac retina, and i have enormous problems with the performance of Photoshop. If i for example use the selective color correction, this does not run smoothly. Other functions also work delayed. I noticed if i do not use Photoshop in full screen mode, everything goes back to normal. A friend used the predecessor model imac without 5k resolution, but has no problems. I suspect Photoshop has problems with the resolution of 5k.
Anyone here who has the same problem?

4GHz Intel Core i7
24 GB RAM
AMD Radeon R9 2048MB
Photoshop CC 2014.2.2

I hope Adobe fixed this problems with the next updates! With this terrible performance i cannot work. I actually just bought the new iMac Retina, because my old model was too slow... and now the Photoshop Performance is slower than on my old iMac. I have read that other users who have also a 5k iMac, report on same problems. So i hope that a update or a solution for this problems come very quickly!

Changing text color of a string

im looking to change the color of some text within a datagrid. After searching I have found tons on item renderers and cannot figure out exactly how to make it work with what I need.
I have a datagrid with a label function that looks something like this.

i want to be able to make it look like this when it returns the string
Name: hello AGE: 45
with name and age also being a different color than the text brought in from the item
any ideas?

You'll need to make an itemRenderer to do this. There many ways of approaching this, but I through together a quick example that applies the formatting using html tags in the htmlText property of an in-line itemRenderer. There are better ways of doing this, though. This example is difficult to read. Using a separate, external component you could override the set data function and go nuts with it. Search the help docs for examples.

Why can't I change the color of an object?

I am having trouble with the color brick. I can't change the color of an object, at least not like described here: http://http://thedigitalstory.com/2012/12/easily-color-changin.html.
Some background:
1. I am working with RAW files.
2. I have RTFM.
3. I have consulted three books I own on Aperture.
4. I have searched the web for help, which is how I came across the link above.
5. I am using the color block correctly, but I can only achieve a subtle shift in the change of very pale colors. This is despite adding up to three additional color blocks to try to increase the degree of change, but there is no way I am coming close to being able to change a blue car to purple, let alone to red (this references the link above.)
Others must have experienced this, I would think. Any thoughts on what I might do differently to achieve more dramatic results from the color block? I don't even have a specific change in a specific image that I'm asking about—I just want to master the software so that I can do so when I need to. Come to think of it, there is a specific change I want to make in a image. Now it's really an important question!

Thanks, Léonie. A quick way to move any slider to its extreme is to click on the value in the Value Slider and drag all the way left or right. This is much faster than side-stepping all the way to the far limits.
I think the example the OP (Ben) is trying to emulate is misleading (given the sophistication of the Digital Story poster, deliberately, and wrongly, so). The car in the original photo is just about the only blue object (and thus pixels) in the image used to demonstrate that one can change the hue of objects using Aperture. Aperture excels at global adjustments and adjustments made to _imprecisely_ bounded areas. (This is, contrary to one's expectation, one of Aperture's great strengths: imprecisely-bounded tone and hue shifts are perceived as "natural"; precisely bounded ones look "artificial". Most photographers (as opposed to graphic artists) wish to retain the illusion of a natural world inside their pictures.) The only reason the hue-changing trick works with the car in the photo is that the Color adjustment effects only the car because it is the only blue object in the photo (there is a bluish TV in the background, and a bluish logo on one of the displays in the background).
The point is that while object-specific hue-shifts can be made with Aperture, it is not the program of choice for this kind of editing. A graphics package, which allows for much more control over selecting pixels, is recommended.
