IMac "Retina" VRAM is it enough for Photoshop CC 2014?

I want to get the new Retna iMac, but don't know how much video ram (VRAM) I need. I only do photo processing, not video. Does anyone have any experience yet?
Thanks,
Steve

Kernvillearts the individuals in this community may be able to provide you with the experience you are looking for.  I don't believe the pixel density of your display however is a deciding factor. Photoshop CC 2014 supports HiDPI displays under both Windows and Mac OS.  For additional details please see the link offered in message #4.  If you have any specific questions about the system requirements please feel free to post them to this discussion.

Where can I find 3D materials add-ons for Photoshop CC 2014? When I pull down the 3D menu to Get More Content, it takes me here: Downloadable 3D content | Photoshop.com. When I download and install the "Versatile materials", Adobe Extension Manger tells me I am installing "Material sets for Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended", which turns out to be the same exact set that I originally had in PS CC 2014. I also search here: https://creative.adobe.com/addons  to no avail.
Anybody know where I can find 3D materials that are more current, or at least different from what I have already?

  • Adobe Exchange Panel for Photoshop CC 2014

I'm trying to get the Adobe Exchange Panel for Photoshop CC 2014 (Mac 10.10.2).
When searching for it on Adobe.com, all I get is the download for CS6. Is this the SAME Exchange Panel usable in CC 2014?
    Thanks for any guidance.

I'm having problems searching out any updates. It's like they silently retired it after CC.
This is the last mention of it:
Adobe Exchange Panel – 1.1 Update for CC apps now available
Since it's a flash panel, it wouldn't work in CC 2014 which has gone to HTML5 panels

  • Double entry for Photoshop CC 2014 in Edit In Menu

In trying to correct a problem with Lightroom trying to find Photoshop CC 2014 when I clicked on it in the Edit In menu I ended up with two entries for Photoshop CC 2014. And when I click on either one it wants to open as either a PSD or TIFF file rather than than a raw file with the LR adjustments. I have tried reinstalling both Photoshop and LR without any success in correcting the problem. What are my next steps?

Have you installed Camera Raw 8.7? If you have Camera Raw 8.7 and Lightroom 5.7 then you shouldn't get that message asking you to create a copy. But in either case, once the editing in Photoshop is completed a TIF or PSD file must be created. Whichever file type is saved depends on your preference settings. Photoshop is not capable of editing or saving raw image data. By the time the image has been opened in Photoshop is no longer raw image data and must be saved in a different file format.

    Support for Windows touch devices
New in this release of Photoshop CC
Photoshop CC now supports Windows 8.1 touch devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro, so you can use pinch, zoom, pan, and rotate.
In Photoshop, two-finger touch gestures are used to control the location, rotation, and scaling of the Image > Canvas view. Users may alternate between touch view control and other interactions using the mouse or stylus, but touch may not be used simultaneously with other input. Touch control is convenient when painting on large touchscreen monitors, which are difficult to rotate physically, and on tablets to avoid constantly shifting the device.
For more information, see Touch gestures.

  • 1366 x 768 Display enough for photoshop?

I'm looking to get a hp envy 14 laptop soon for doing my graphics work at school... When at home I can plug in to my 23-inch monitor but while at school will 1366x768px be too small to practically use for photoshop/illustrator?

For average digicam photo editing tasks like color adjustments and simple cutouts it will be enough, but of course you will be hard pressed to do extensive retouche jobs on high res imagery or even precision jobs. The constant zooming will not make this a pleasant experience. Using the tab key to toggle palette visibility as Marian suggested will help a little, but not in all situations. Sometimes you will simpyl have to have many palettes open to do a specific task and then your image will almost disappear...

  • Lighting effect not working for photoshop CC 2014

hello there i can not seem to get the lighting effects working in Photoshop cc 2014 i updated it and also made sure my graphic driver was updated and also made sure that it was strong enough to run it and it is so now i'm just confused why its not working.
not sure what to do from here need to get some textures done and this does not help and couldn't find anwsers on the adobe contact us tab so came here.

I could repro this. Fix it by restarting Photoshop.
What happens is that when you toggled your graphics acceleration on without restarting Photoshop, it made Photoshop go coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs. (It happens.) Hopefully, someone from Adobe's staff will see this.

  • Cannot use new fill pattern scripts for Photoshop CC 2014.2

I have installed Photoshop CC 2014.2 (2014.2.0 Release), but am unable to get the new Fill pattern scripts to work or even show up in the UI. Namely, I am referring to the Flame, Picture Frame, and Tree scripted patterns described here: https://www.adobe.com/technology/projects/DecoScriptedPatternsInPhotoshop.html
This is what my Fill dialog looks like:
I have confirmed that the corresponding presets exist in the Photoshop CC 2014 > Presets > Deco folder:
I have tried resetting Photoshop's preferences; and while everything was reset, the missing presets still failed to appear.

  • Guid Guide Extension not installing saying its already installed for Photoshop CC 2014

    1) I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the extension manager cc multiple times.
    2) I have uninstalled Photoshop CC 2014 and reinstalled it
    3) and yes both are up to date

Thanks... I grabbed it (all of them, actually) but now I'm having trouble installing them (not an Adobe problem, I don't think; they recently changed a bunch of security protocols here and I think that's what's preventing me from running the updater).
I am curious, though: if there was an update to the Extension Manager (and there were FIVE of them) why does my Creative Cloud app tell me that I'm up to date????

  • Is 256GB retina macbook pro 13" enough for fair 4K raw editing?

The new macbook pros with retina display just came out and I was thinking about buying this build for 1900$:
13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display
    256GB PCIe-based flash storage
    3.1GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7
    16GB 1866MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
Will 256GB of storage be enough to edit 4KRAW files on FCP X?
Would there be a way of having the large files on an external drive via thunderbolt 2 while editing them?
Are there places where I could spare some money (like overkilled specs)?
    Thanks for the replies!

The dual core i7 is not much faster than the i5. You won't notice the difference unless you went to the quad core i7 which is not available on the 13".
So save some money by going with the i5.

  • Building a computer - Is an i5-4460 good enough for Photoshop?

I'm building a desktop computer for web design, digital illustration and some gaming.  I also want to learn/use Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator and Dreamweaver.
I'm trying to decide between processors.  I'm looking at the i5-4460, i5-4590 and i5-4690.  Many people have recommended i7s and Xeons, but those seem very expensive and I'm just starting to get into Photoshop.  The i5-4690 is about the most I'm willingly to spend, but I don't want to throw money away if it isn't really necessary/won't help that much.  I'm also not looking to edit massive photos.  I want to be able to do digital illustration (comic book sized stuff) and web design (buttons, icons, web page drafts).  Maybe while I have a web browser open at the same time.
Is the cheaper i5-4460 powerful enough to do what I want to do without me tearing my hair out in frustration?  Should I really only consider the i5-4590 or the i5-4690?  Is there any noticeable difference getting a i5-4590 or an i5-4690?
I need to get this thing built, so please let me know soon.  Thanks.

    Good Day
pay a lot attention to GPU's for your money, d
I disagree.  GPUs seem to be recommended a lot, yet I don't see a basis for it (in most people's work) with a modern processor.  I know Adobe is working on making more processes GPU accelerated, but at the same time Intel is packing more and more into the integrated graphics.
I don't doubt that getting a super high end GPU will run faster in a benchmark, but even then it's arguable that it'll make a difference in you're work flow unless you spend a whole lot of time batch processing GPU-intensive processes or doing 3D or something.  If you're not batch processing you're not going to notice that your GPU ran the oil paint filter in 3.7 seconds instead of 3.9.  I'm making the numbers up, but that's about the gist of it.  And we're talking high end GPUs.  Mid range once don't make a marked difference over intel graphics.  My desktop at home is running an i7-4770k, which I believe has the same integrated graphics as the i5-4560.  I pulled my GPU out after a few tests and returned it, because I didn't see a noticeable difference in performance.  It runs just find on integrated graphics.  In full disclosure I don't do 3D or batch process often, but I do work on extremely large composites.
As to the RAM.  RAM can be upgraded later.  I wouldn't go over 16 unless you knew you needed it - which can easily be checked.  You can get by with 8 if you're not a heavy user.
An SSD is going to make the biggest performance difference out of anything.
