IMac running Windows 8 DP through Bootcamp. Sound not working on Windows!

I have just installed Windows 8 Developer Preview through Bootcamp on my iMac 12,1 running Lion. It's working except for the fact that the audio doesn't work! Even if the volume in Windows is turned to 100%, there is no sound coming out of the speakers! Are there any drivers I can install or anything like that?
Please help me

  • Bootcamp: Sound not working on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Hello everyone, I've got quite an unsual problem (whell at least I think anyway). On my iMac (Mid 2008, 2.4Ghz C2D, 2GB ram, 2400XT), I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). I've been using the sound out of the speakers, until now when I decided to connect some extenal speakers. I have the bootcamp drivers installed (from Snow Leopard DVD). When I plugged the headphone jack into the headphone socket on the back, I noticed that the sound was still coming out of the speakers, so I opened the preferences and it showed that I had something plugged into the line-in jack- which I didn't! I removed the headphone jack from the headphone socket and plugged it into the line-in. Nothing changed in the preferences. So basically, Windows thinks the line-out port is line-in! I would appreciate some help with this issue, not sure how common it is!
    Thanks :-)

Hi I'm not sure if this is going to help but have you got the service pack 1 installed on your laptop as when I installed it on my desktop the first time it caused blue screen errors and gave me loads of problems including error messages that seemed to come up with every application I opened and an annoying driver IQRL equal or less than but couldn't work out why and then in the end I had so many problems I had to totally reformat my desktop and I removed my XP scanner and webcam(both had vista drivers) and when I reinstalled the service pack 1 it was fine, so do you by any chance have anything attached to your laptop that was XP and has vista drivers as these seemed to be what was causing my errors.
Also a question about your graphic card drivers, I've got the same laptop as you and was looking for the graphic card driver updates and couldn't find them anywhere on the site, where did you find yours? I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 bit , my model number is A200-28P(PSAE6) and I'd love to know if there is a newer graphics card driver but can't find it on the knowledge base so the fact you've updated yours would you mind pointing a new user in the right direction :-)

  • Sound not working in windows vista using bootcamp

    hello everyone,
i recently installed vista on my imac 24in 2.4ghz 4gb ram and the sounds not working. searched google and this came up.

they gave a few options but i dont seem to fined a driver. my device manager says its fine. ive looked in thw volume settings and its turned on. i dont know what to do now.
    any suggestions? thanks

    Hey Manuel,
I myself had the same issue, no sound and nothing indicating a problem. Insert your apple disc and click repair, reinstalls all the drivers, this fixed it for me, although I had several other drivers fail some weeks later, so started from scratch and been good for a month or so

  • Tecra M10 - Sound not working on Windows XP SP3

TECRA M10 Sound not working with Win XP SP3
    1. Drivers are installed from the toshiba web site.
    2. Chipset drivers and sound drivers were reinstalled no luck,
    3. Not Muted FN+Esc
    4. Device Manger All drivers ok

    Hi
If I understand you right all devices listed properly in device manager and you dont have yellow exclamation marks?!
Normally for high definition sound cards you need two patches from Microsoft:
    KB835221 and KB888111.
Normally these patches are integrated in SP3 but this only works if you install the sound driver after SP3. So if you have an older version of XP without SP3 you must update to SP3 first and then install the display driver.
So in your case you should remove the current sound driver and restart the notebook. Then use CCleaner to clean the registry and system folders. Restart the notebook again. Then download and install the newest sound driver from the Realtek Hompage.
    Bye

  • Elements 13 crashes - Windows message - this program is not working correctly - windows will close it.

I bought Elements 13 4 days ago through Amazon - so far it has not run for more than 5 minutes before Windows closes it down with the message - this program is not working correctly, windows will close it. I know this is not unusual but has anyone got a solution - apart from returning  it
with a very unfavourable review? I have tried all the suggested fixes on the Adobe help site with no result.  Elements 10 runs OK on the same machine.
Alternatively, is there any possible way to get support from Adobe?

Do you have any version of Premiere Elements 13 or only Photoshop Elements 13 which comes with Elements Organizer 13?
Let us look at the following for Elements Organizer 13....
    1. Deletion of disabling the Elements Organizer 13 setting file which is named psa.prf. In Windows 7, 8, o 8.1 64 bit, it is found in the
    path
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Elements Organizer
    13.0
    Organizer
and in the Organizer Folder is the psa.prf file that you delete or disable by renaming it from psa.prf to psa.prfOLD.
    2. If the above gains you successful entry into the Elements Organizer 13, then you can
    a. create a new catalog
    and/or
    b. repair or optimize the current one
    See Elements Organizer 13/File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager.
    3. There are times that certain formats will bring the Elements Organizer down when you try to import those formats into
it.  But, from what you wrote, your current problems do not sound media related.
    3. At your earliest opportunity, please update Elements Organizer 13 to 13.1 using its Help Menu/Updates.
Please review and consider and then let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • Sound not working in Windows 7 64bit

I have an early 2008 macbook pro and I was previously running the 64bit Windows7 RC and the sound worked perfectly well. I did a clean install of the RTM Windows7 Professional and I haven't been able to get the sound to work properly. When I boot into windows there is a red light from the headphone jack and I've tried using boot camp 2.0 drivers as well as the 2.1 drivers for vista 64bit and neither makes the sound work.
I did notice that if I plugged in my external speakers and put the volume at the maximum that I could hear very minimal sound, but nothing from the built-in speakers.
I checked the drivers and windows says that the drivers are all up to date and that they are working normally. I even tried erasing the partition and re-installing windows and the result was the same.
I've looked online and have tried several different suggestions but none of them seem to work. I thought perhaps that the bootcamp drivers didn't like windows7 since the RC was considered by most software as a version of vista, so I tried using vista compatibility mode but it still didn't work.
    Your help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem. I solved it by using the driver at this link

  • Macbook Pro sound not working in windows XP

I have a macbook pro and recently installed bootcamp/windows xp. Everything works fine in both windows xp and mac os x, except that I have no sound in windows xp. I get the sound on startup that normally plays, and audio plays fine in OS X, but when i run windows, it doesn't detect any audio device (i tried using both headphones as well as the onboard speakers that come with the computer).
    Any suggestions?

    Reli,
Did you install the drivers from the drivers disc you (hopefully) created during the Bootcamp install? These contain the drivers for sound & graphics etc...
I realise you get the startup sounds already, but do you mean the sounds in Windows? Anyway, Windows can be a bit funny about drivers.
Another thing to check, when in Windows, right click on your My Computer icon, go to properties, then in the new window in one of the tabs - believe it's third one from the left on the bottom row - there should be a device manager button (Sorry, I Don't currently have access to a Windows machine so can't tell you the exact tab name). Open up the device manager. Expand the audio and video devices section (or something like that) and see if the appropriate sound card is listed there - this will indicate if the drivers are installed or not.

  • Sound Blaster Live 5.1 , Sound Not WOrking in Windows A

    Hi,
I am having a problem with my Sound Blaster Li've 5. , I get sound in applications like Media player or games but in windows xp itself I get nothing. I go to the sounds tab in the the control panel and its like it does not see the sound card, the little play button next to each windows sound is not lit. I have ininstalled the card, taken it out rebooted:angry: and reinstalled with no success..any sugestions?
    thanks in advance

i guess you're using WindowsXP, huh? well, im using Win2000P. once my Life! wasnt properly recognized by windows too, so i checked for any old soundriver files. then i installed the card manually with the hardware assistant.
after that i could install the livedriverunipack from creative, and everything was fine. but of course windows should detect that card without that procedure! maybe you give it a try. (btw, dont play the with the IRQs)

  • Updated Drivers, Volume meter moves, Sound not working in Windows 7 Ultimate

I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate. I set drivers to update automatically. Still I have problem with sound. I can't hear audio in speakers and Headphones. The volume meter is also moving. Can you please help me with this?
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
    Thanks,
    Akilan K

Double-click on the Speakers and navigate to the Advanced
tab. You'll see a Test button there. Click on it - do you hear a sound?
It may be possible that you may be using a third-party application for audio enhancement and the audio stream has been muted from there. Please ensure that the speakers are unmuted. You can also try to unplug and plug the speaker wires back in. This usually
works if the 3rd party looses the settings for back/front and left/right speakers. Doing so builds the speaker configuration again.
Just to be sure, are you using a 2.1, 4.1 or 5.1 speaker set?
Please revert back here if this does not resolve your issue either. Hope it helps!

    Some can help us?

    Hello
Your notebook has a Realtek sound chip. So you must install a Hotfix from Microsoft before you can install the drivers.

    You're welcome.
Sorry, I can't know what the exact problem was. Many things don't start in Windows Safe Mode, like third-party security software and included security tools like Windows Defender. You can use the following guide if you want to troubleshoot the issue. The "How to determine what is causing the problem by performing a clean boot" section is the relevant part.

I have an imac bought late 2013, can i use it as a display for the new mac pro running windows 8 through bootcamp?

No. Target Display mode is only supported when connected to a Mac running 10.6 or later.
It cannot be used with a PC, bootcamp, gamaing console, cable box, DVR or PowerPC Mac.

  • Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.

When I try to install Windows 8.1, BootCamp does not find the ISO image.
I purchased Windows 8.1 Pro, I downloaded the .exe requested file from a Windows computer, performed the steps recommended by Microsoft in order to create the ISO file saving it on a flash drive as well and, as a precaution, on a DVD too.
I performed the "Download the latest Windows Support Software from Apple" step directly into another flash drive and having it completed BootCamp displays the following message:
"The installer disc could not be found  –  Insert the Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized. "
So happens that I have tried this using the DVD, pendrive and also copying the ISO file to the desktop and to the "Documents" folder as recommended in certain websites, but none of this has made the process go ahead. What can I do?
My equipment is a mid 2011 iMac running Mac OSX 10.10.1.

    Dear Loner T,
thanks to my coworker, the solution was unpacking from that ISO file which I had recorded (according to the steps indicated by Microsoft), but now using Nero software (Windows) and then recording by the most common way in a new DVD. See the screen of the first DVD before unpacking:
This true saga only demonstrated that the generated ISO file as an option at the time of the Windows installation, is not for direct installation through BootCamp, and as a I could check, even for direct installation on a Windows PC. See the last DVD burned using Nero and  again recorded:
The execution of BootCamp, was perfect
Thank you for attention to my problem!
