IMac Safari Window Zooms In For No Reason

Has anyone else had this problem with Lion? Sometimes my window in Safari will zoom in to about 200 percent without me commanding it. This is rediculous because then I have to scroll around on the page to see it.

If you are using a trackpad or MagicMouse check your settings in System Preferences. For both devices, there's a double tap gesture for zooming in. Repeating the double tap will zoom back out again.
For the trackpad it is a 2 finger double tap. I don't have a magic mouse handy but I believe that's the gesture for that device as well

After about 2 hrs of editing sometimes my iMac 27'' keeps powering down for no reason and then rebooting.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Why when I open Firefox does it come up "not responding"? When I attempt to close I get a windows window to check for the reason for no response. Magically, all of a sudden Firefox "POPS" back to life. Any thing I can do about this??

Firefox will open and then "freeze" (Says Firefox not responding). Have to attempt to close from lower bar and then get message from Windows - options
    1. close window now
    2. windows will search for the reason
When I click on either option I have to wait "magically" Firefox will "pop" alive. May stay responsive for full session or may again "not respond" when I try to access another site.

I have also found that unchecking the "Use hardware acceleration when available" option solves this issue. This option is in the Advanced section, under the General tab.

I have Windows 7 and for some reason I cannot install Adobe Type Manager onto my Computer. I need ATM to install the DIN font but am having no luck what so ever. I can see the DIN font in my Dropbox but it is showing up like this:-  ._DIN-bold, no file file extension. what am I doing wrong? is it Mac?

    (1)    Adobe Type Manager (ATM) is not compatible with any version of Windows beyond Windows XP (32-bit, only). Attempting to install ATM on any newer version of Windows may actually disable Window's capability of rendering Type 1 and OpenType CFF fonts, requiring a reinstallation of Windows.
    (2)    There is no need to use ATM to install any fonts under Windows.
    (3)    The file name ._DIN-bold is indicative of a MacOS font. These fonts cannot be installed on Windows systems.

    Hi, Dave.
If you're using the BlackBerry browser, you can't configure anything to bypass the RIM servers.  I believe you may do so by using the Opera browser, but I haven't tried it myself so cannot comment with authority.
I hope that clears up the issue for you.

  • Safari Zooms in for no reason

    Hello Internet,
I have a problem with my safari. For some reason, it randomly zooms in to the page. When you try to zoom out using the "pinch" gesture it will jump into the eagle view and shows everything that is open. You can further zoom in but can't zoom out to the actual size. You have to manually go to view --> actual size to zoom out. My friend has the same problem and we don't know what to do.
    Information:
I have Safari version 8.0 (10600.1.25) installed on Macbook pro which has a OS X Yosemite Version 10.10
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
    Thank you so much,
Please let me know if you need more information
    Sincerely,
    isukatdis

Press the key combination option-command-8 to disable Zoom. If you're using an Apple wireless mouse, open the  Mouse pane in System Preferences and uncheck the box marked Smart zoom.

  • Photoshop CS4 Help Window Pops Up For No Reason

This same thing was happening in Photoshop CS3 and I could never figure out why. I figured that since CS4 was coming out, I would buy it, stop using CS3 and the problem would be solved, well it's not. So far, I'm happy with the new program but for some reason, out of nowhere, while working on a photo, the Photoshop Help window (which opens as a web browser window) will pop up for no reason! Today, it popped up over 6 or 7 times and I nearly had to crash the program to get it to stop. I figured this problem would have been solved with the new version since the same thing was happening in CS3 but it hasn't. I'm running a Windows XP-based machine that I built myself about 2 years ago. I have a 512mb ATI Raedon X1650 video card and have 4GB of RAM so this machine has far more than enough power to run the program. I updated my video and mouse drivers prior to installing the program. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for pointing that out. It really happens very rarely, but when it happens, it's quite a huge annoyance.
Well I have about 3,5GB RAM on a Windows Vista 32 Bit system (hence just 3,5 instead of the full 4GB), with the OpenGL options activated, and maybe over 100GB of free HD space (that'll never be a problem, but since swapping is not used by all modules, I often bump into RAM problems when using tools like auto-aligning layers or stitching panoramas) and 2,5Ghz core duo on a notebook. The Windows swap file is also "just" 4GB...but I found more than 4GB to be a bit extreme.
RAM usage is set to 56% right now (916MB), cache levels is set to 6
After restart, everything runs fine again, I hope the help screens leave me alone.
I didn't know this is since v. 7! I worked with all versions since 5.0 and since becoming a freelancer also bought every version since 6.0 except 7. I only experienced this bug in this and the previous version. Maybe my hardware doesn't keep pace with PS anymore

  • Safari Window zoom in and out

Every so often when I am using Safari and have another application(s) running in the background, the Safari window will zoom out and the other apps are shown, as though I am using Expose. A click on the Safari window, which is also highlighted in blue, zooms it back and makes it the primary window. What is causing this to happen and is there a way to stop it from happening?
    Thanks.
PS: I am using Snow Leopard but I don't know which version it is.

In Safari > Preferences > Advanced the smallest the font size can be set to is 9.

  • Safari downloads gif images for no reason

    When I visit this site
    www.jsonline.com
some gif images are automatically downloaded (called p-01-OVlaSjnOLG.gif). Every click results in a download. How do I stop this?
Safari version 4.0.4, running on OS X 10.5.8. Lots of space on hard drive.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
If you right or control click an image a pop up menu will appear but just clicking on an image shouldn't result in the file automatically downloading.
Try resetting Safari and emptying the cache.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.

Make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.

  • Safari (4.1.3) for some reason won't launch. Help?

It just spins the wheel everytime. It's not my wi fi -- cause Firefox works, but I'd like to use Safari which has never been a problem before. Any help wd be much appreciated.
    It's for my PowerBook G4 OS X (10.4.1)
    Thank you!
    Michael

Make sure the Safari app is in the Applications folder.
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
And try Safari in another user account. The startup disk may need repairing if you see the same behavior in that account.
From the admin account launch Disk Utility.
    /Applications/Utilities
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Finding my iMac shut down or rebooted for no reason at all?!?!?

I recently transferred my iMac G5 to an iMac Intel. Since doing so, I have found my new iMac Intel in the mornings completely shut down or as if it had been restarted (user account selection screen). This morning, I sat down at the computer and moved the mouse to wake it from sleep and this prompted the computer to restart!!! My Energy Saver settings are (and have been) set to wake the computer at 2:49AM and SuperDuper! (latest version is installed) is (and has been for awhile) set to do a Smart Backup at that time. Based on the log in SuperDuper! it appears last nights backup did not happen. I'm wondering if something is happening with SuperDuper! It is NOT set to restart or shut down the computer after a backup, only to quit the application itself. I never had this problem on my iMac G5. I don't have any other apps that I'm aware of that are doing anything overnight.
Interestingly, this morning after the computer restarted, I started a manual backup with SuperDuper! then left the computer and went to work. When my wife came to the computer later on, the user account screen was up suggesting the computer had been restarted once again.
Is there anything else that could be causing this? A setting that might have defaulted somewhere to cause restarts or shut downs? I booted from my external FW drive (G-Drive GRAID 500) and repaired permissions and repaired the disk of my internal iMac Intel HD. Blast it DriveGenius not being Intel compliant yet!!! I'll see if this happens again. If so, I'll try disabling SuperDuper! overnight backups for awhile and see it fixes things. In the meantime, any thoughts on why or what is causing this? Others' with this problem? Thanks.

    hey joshua-
you could also try a smc reset, and disconnect devices you have attached. if disconnecting devices changes it, reintroduce devices one by one so you can weed out which one may be causing the behavior. reset the smc by unplugging all devices and then unplugging power cord from back of machine where it goes into the power supply. wait at least ten seconds. then reintroduce the cord at the same time as pressing the power button. another thing to consider doing for this problem is to pull the /libary/preferences/systemconfiguration folder (at root level) but you will have to reintroduce your network settings. good luck with that. • Help! Safari Autofill stopped working for no reason.

My Safari autofill has suddenly stopped working. It used to be that when a form came up on safari I could start filling it out and hit tab and it would fill in the entire form. Now it looks like it might fill in that line, but if I hit tab it doesn';t even complete the line that is highlighted. I think this started to happen after I did the latest OS X software update -- I am now running 10.4.11. I checked autofill on safari and it seems to have all the appropriate boxes checked. And if I go to the pull down menu and pull down edit and do autofill forms, it will do it. But why won't it do it using tab any more?
    thanks so much,
    Katarina

  • I have a gen one iPad and Safari keeps shutting down for no reason Just crashes. Is this common?

I had my original Ipad replaced because of this but it still occurs and is getting more frequent as time progresses.
Has anyone else had this problem and can you suggest a fix. My I pad is not old enough not to be working properly.

You tagline shows iOS 6.0.1, but you said you have the first generation iPad. iOS 6 does not run on the iPad 1, so I assume that you're running 5.1.1.
You may have low memory issues with the iPad which some users have talked about with the original iPad running iOS 5. You can try some basic troubleshooting steps and see if they help. You might want to see if the iPad and Safari behave better when you keep apps in the recents tray to a minimum....close the apps if don't need quick access to them.
Anyway, give these things a shot.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Reboot the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Safari keeps shutting down for no reason

Its not just happened recently its been happening for a few months. I'm a bit lax at knowing when I update software etc but I usually do it relatively regularly and it has been happening a while. Rang Apple and they took me through finding these files to put in trash which I did but the problem is no better.
Not very technical as to what I am using I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro, using 10.6 Snow Leopard and Safari version 5.0.4. Sometimes its fine for a day or two, other times I can be using Safari and it just slows down and randomly closes. Then a minute later I get the screen saying there was an error with Safari do I want to reopen etc, and it takes a good 30-40 seconds to load an internet page.
Its getting quite frustrating because when I'm accessing loads of journals for work and it crashes I lose the exact point I was up to etc. It happens sometimes when I'm just using one page other times when I have loads of tabs, seems to be no pattern to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
