My iMac screen keeps showing pixels of previously opened documents and Safari tabs and hour or two after closing them.
Even when I swipe to the dashboard the outlines are still there when I know they should not be.
The shadow of those opened documents are still there hours later after shutting down and restarting my computer.
What is happening and what shall I do? Thanks in advance.

Not much to go on in your product info, but maybe this will help: iMac (27-inch): AMD Radeon 6970M Video Card Replacement Program. If not, then it's time to visit an Apple repair station.

  • Satellite A87 Screen keeps falling down

    Hello everyone,
i got a really serious problem: My screen keeps falling down, it doesnt hold itself anymore in the position i put it in.
Is there anything i can do? I got a Satellite A-87.
    Thanks guys, Thomas

    Hi
Do you really have a Satellite A87? Sorry but this notebooks series is not known to me.
    Please check this series again!
Back to your issue According to your description the display hinges dont work correctly and cannot hold the TFT display in the right position.
To be honest there is no much to do. The faulty hinges must be replaced.
Therefore you should contact the ASP in your country for the help and ask for the further handling.
    Best regards

  • My imac screen keeps loading at the log in page

I cannot log in my account. The screen keeps loading at the log in page, even i try to reinstall the OS X. The imac cannot read the CD and keeps stay at the log in page. What is the problem?

This really is something to take up with a local Apple retail store or Premium re-seller.   They will examine it and quote you a repair or replacement price.   This is usually done without charge.  Without knowing exactly what is wrong a guestimate would be worthless to you.

  • IMac screen keeps waking up for no apparent reason

Here's a fun one. So we all know you can put your Mac screen to sleep by pressing controlshifteject on a Mac keyboard. This is what I usually do with my iMac as I tend to have it doing something at night (be it downloading, processing large files, ect.) but lately the screen only seems to want to sleep for about 10 minutes or so before it will turn right back on.
My old MacBook Pro used to do this but you could actually dim the screen right down to zero anyway so it wasn't that big of an issue. You can't do that with an iMac.
I've heard mention that it might be bluetooth related and I am using an Apple bluetooth keyboard and Magic Mouse but it seems to be doing it much more often of late. I thought it might be a battery issue but even with fresh batteries the issue continues.
    Anyone know what's going on?

Next time you want to put your iMac screen to sleep, try switching off the Magic Mouse, wait for the notification to come up on the screen telling you the Magic Mouse has been disconnected, wait for it to disappear then press the keyboard shortcut to put the screen to sleep. See if that helps and we'll go from there. If that doesn't help, can you just say wether the screen always turns back on the same time every time?
    Hope that helps
    David

  • Why does my iMac screen keep switching off / going black?

After about one half hour of use my new iMac screen switches off / goes black.
The screen can be switched on by pressing the power button on the back on the machine a few times. It remains lit for about 20 seconds. This can comntinue for about half an hour when it stops switching off or when I give up.
I have conrtacted Apple but they have been unable to solve the problem.
The machine is just not fit for purpose as I cannot use it for work.
It appears from the internet that this is a recurring imac problem.
Please, what am I to do?

Call AppleCare (number is in the manual) and then request to speak to Customer Service. Be patient, organized and articulate and they will transfer you. When you get to speakt to someone then explain your problem and ask for their help. You should have all your receipts, invoices, trouble ticket numbers etc available for reference.
You can also take to an Apple Store in Spain, while this may not be convenient at least then an Apple person can see the machine and work on it.

  • Imac screen keeps  going black sound present

Imac screen goes black can still hear sounds volume on but blank black screen
can anybody tell me why this happens?

As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET

    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • 21.5 mid-2011 iMac screen keeps glitching out and then eventually goes black.

At the end of August 2011 I purchased a 21.5-inch iMac and just last week (8 or so months later) the screen started to glitch everywhere and then eventually turned black. It has been happening quite regularly and has become quite an issue. Before then it had been running perfectly, and we had had no problems at all. However when the screen goes black (as if it was asleep) you could still hear things playing in the background (such as the noise that the volume key makes when you press it on the keyboard). We have eliminated all possible interference problems (turned off: wifi, phone's, TV, lamps and even the fish pump) and have also had it tested by license technicians for software and hardware issues (which came back clean). So then they replaced the screen thinking that was the only other possibility, and when we brought it back home it started to do it again. I have no idea anymore and I was hoping that someone could tell me what might be going on, otherwise I will get it replaced under extend Apple Care warranty.
Thank you and the main specs are below:
    2.7Ghz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor
    4GB Ram
    1TB hard drive
AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR5 memory

  • TS2948 My screen keeps falling back and i thought its because of the hinge that is loose my macbook is only 3 weeks old will i get it repaired ?

my screen is loose and my macbook Air is only 3 weeks old do i get a replacement ?

Only if repair is deemed to be impractical. However, I have heard of situations where replacement for repairable units was done as a customer service gesture. After only 3 weeks, it may be more likely.

  • 1 year old 27"iMac screen keeps going black

itunes is running in the background, nothing I can do except shut off surge protector...
just started happening, mulitple times a day
So NOT happy with Apple, a $3000 machine! really???  their products are not worth the premium anymore!
    not reliable!

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • The FINDER screen keeps coming forward over an open program

I have only noticed this in the last 2 days, that no matter what program I have running, whether it be MAIL or an Internet browser etc... after about 10-15 seconds my screen will jump back to FINDER showing the menu across the top of the screen and take me away from the program I had opened. I can still see the Program Window open and can simply click back on it to get back, but it is really frustrating that it just seems to want to jump back to the FINDER menu all the time, even now when I'm typing!! Any ideas??
    Cheers
    Nahum

Go to User/Library/Preferences..create a new folder to hide ALL those preferences in (call it “hidden prefs” or whatever). Move all those prefs to that folder and restart. You’ll notice you loose all kinds of settings of course. Now after restarting, copy ALL those preferences back into the original folder...BUT DO NOT ALLOW IT TO REPLACE ANY NEW PREFS IT HAS CREATED. The problem should disappear......now you’ll have to go back and overwrite the prefs you notice have changed (i.e. dock setting, etc) until you get back to a that “comfortable” place. I’ve seen all kinds of “fixes” on these forums....dealing with Stuffiit AVR, or QuickTime, etc,etc......it seems that different things work for different folks. This will work for everybody.

  • My iMac screen keeps going dark but my computer stays on

With such a lack of information about all I can think of is setting sleep and display to "never" in System Preferences - Energy Saver.

  • 24" iMac screen mist behind glass

For a couple of months now my 24" iMac screen keep misting up behind the glass around 30 mins after booting - anyone know a resolution for this? Will Apple replace the screen even though i've had it around 4/5 years now?

It is common to get condensation between the display and front glass panel, if it is humidity and cool in your office or home.
A few things that you might try, are
    1. Reduce the level humidity with a dehumidifier.
    2. Leave the iMac on longer until the condensation dissipates.
    3. Remove the front panel yourself and clean between the display and glass.

No, but if you contact your local Apple Store or AASP you can schedule an appointment to have it dried and cleaned.

  • 24" 2008 iMac screen going black

My 24" 2008 iMac screen keeps going black then coming back after a while. What temperature would it need to get to in order to knock out the display? I have iStat.
Also, if the screen fails due to graphics card or other component, is it possible to connect an external display to use it until I can upgrade to a mini?
    Cheers.

  • Screen keeps enlarging.  why?

Why and how does my new imac screen keep enlarging??  How can I get it back to proper size?

What version of OS X is your system running. I suspect that the Zoom feature has been turned on in error. Open System Preferences - Universal Access - Seeing tab and set Zoom to off. There are also other methods, each are explained in:
