IMac slot loading G3 will not recognize internet connection

I am trying to get my slot loading G3 CRT ready to give to my daughter. It runs OS 10.3.9. My other computers running OS 10.4.10 and Airport Extreme run great on the Internet. Trying to get the internet connection recognized by the G3 via "Network" does not happen.
As an aside, the battery is dead. I cannot find good instructions on how to change it. Could the dead battery have an adverse effect on the internet connection?

The battery could have an input on this so get that changed. Changing it through the hatch is easier said than done - I've seen too many broken battery holders to support that option - I always open the mac up (10 screws and 10 minutes work).
I'm assuming that your wireless card is working OK - does it show up in system profiler?
Check that the arial is properly connected (while you have the bottom off) it's very easy for the connector to look connected but not be. To separate it from the card is quite difficult when it is properly connected. If it comes out with little or no effort then it probably wasn't in properly at all. There's a definate click when it goes fully home.
This iMac G3 connects automatically as soon as it is switched on, If I turn the Airport off and plug in the ethernet, it automatically switches over and connects.
In Network settings (System Preferences), Location is set to automatic and in both airport setting and ethernet setting, IPv4 is set to "Using DHCP"
That's all there is to it really.
Post back after you change the battery and let us know what happens.

In January, I posted the question below. I wanted to update it, but this site has archived it and will not allow responses. In the hope that I may help someone else, I am repeating my question, now that I have the answer.

ORIGINAL PROBLEM
Last week, I upgraded from 10.3.9 to Tiger. Ever since then, I have had trouble using Apple's programs that require internet usage: Safari, iTunes, Software Update, etc. All of these programs think I am not connected to the Internet. But I am; I can use Netscape, Internet Explorer, and other non-Apple programs on the web.
Furthermore, it's not consistent. Sometimes Safari will recognize the connection. I'll be using Safari, looking up websites, when suddenly it will quit connecting, giving me the message, "Cannot connect to the server," no matter what server it is, even apple.com (so I have to use Netscape to access my .Mac and this Support screen).
How can I resolve this?

The problem was that my Earthlink Access software was setting a proxy on my connection. Netscape & Firefox worked because they ignore any proxies; the Apple programs (plus Shiira and Internet Explorer) didn't connect because they use the proxies.
Why did it sometimes work? Well, if I first used Safari to go to a secure website of my bank, somehow that opened up the connection and then I could continue to use the Internet and Internet based programs like iTunes and widgets. However, if I tried to use an Internet-based program before going to the secure site, then it wouldn't work.
After months of phone calls and e-mails and sending data packets and all such stuff with Apple Care, they finally stumbled upon this answer: Uncheck the proxy box. And that did it. At first I had to uncheck it every time I started up the computer, but now it stays unchecked and I can use my Apple programs with no trouble.
I just wanted to share this with you in case you also had trouble with Internet connections after upgrading to Tiger, because I did see several other people had this same trouble.

IMac 10.6.8 will not recognize iPhone v.4.12.09 with iOS 7.1.1

I cannot get photos from my iPhone version 4.12.09 with iOS 7.1.1 to appear on the desktop of my iMac running 10.6.8.
It will not open iPhoto nor will preview recognize the iPhone as being connected. No way to get newly taken photos to iPhoto.

Have you just tried opening iPhoto manually to see if your iPhone will show up that way?
Have you tried shutting down your Mac and doing a PRAM reset?
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone.

I got a new iMac and my ATV will not recognize my iTunes Library in Homesharing. My account ID is correct on both devices.

I got a new iMAC for Christmas. I've turned on Homesharing on it. It will not appear in my Apple TV list which alsohas homesharing turned on. I am using the same Apple ID on both devices. My old windows computer showed up but not the newiMAC even though it syas it is authorized. Any ideas?

Verify that your iMac is on the same network as the apple TV. System Preferences > Network > Highlight your connection on the left > IP Address on the right.
On the Apple TV, Settings > General > About > IP address. They should both something like 192.168.1.xxx The first 3 nodes the same. If one is wired and one wireless you may have more than one local network.

Aperture does not recognize Internet connection with SmugMug

When I try to add an account for SmugMug, the Accounts dialog box shows, "Your computer is not connected to the Internet. Aperture needs an Internet connection to login to SmugMug."
I added a Flickr account with no problems. How can I get Aperture to recognize that I have an Internet connection for SmugMug?

Firefox prompts me to update. when i do, it will not allow internet connection.

Firefox will prompt me to update. After the installation is complete, I cannot connect to the internet. I've checked the firewall and this is an allowed program. I do not have any proxy settings specified in firefox. I have to restore the earlier version before internet connection is allowed. How do I update firefox without having this problem?

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

WRT150N v1.1 does not recognize internet connection

I have had this router stored since I have never been able to get it working, but today I want to try everything possible, and I have, i upgraded the firmware, i backed up the the configurations, restored the configurations, i power cycled, everything that those pages from linksys support show you, but still easylink advisor does not recognize my internet connection, i am obviously online since i am on this page, so I don't know what it is.

FF will not hold internet connection settings when closed

Since upgrading to FF4 and subsequently to FF5:
Each day, after booting my system and starting FF, I have to go i nto preferences to reset the internet connection to 'no proxy'. FF defaults to a manual proxy config when closed. The network connection setting of 'no proxy' just won't hold when FF closes.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Networked mac will not share internet connection

When I connect my G4Imac to a Imacdv I can establish file sharing etc but the Imacdv is not able to connect to the internet via the G4Imac. Is this not possible or am I missing something? They are connected by ethernet ports but my broadband is by adsl speedtouch modem.

Go to  Apple Menu > System Preferences... > Sharing > Internet tab.
Now check the
"Share your connection from: Speedtouch Modem
To computers using:
Built-in Ethernet.".
Then click the "Start" button.
I used to do this but to my Powerbook using Airport. I assume that the Speedtouch connects via USB and has it's own driver installed?

Imac in windows xp will not recognize any CD's

I am having a problem with with my imac in windows. It seems to me that it is not recognizing any cd that is placed in the drive. I tried to re-install my Mac install disc 1 for a bootcamp repair.. but could not find it on the drive to start it up. I did have a blue screen last night, telling me that it was reformatting my drive. This was after I installed a driver from HP website. I hope I do not have to reinstall Windows XP again! Does any one know why my Music CD's and Software CD'S and even Mac Install Disc is not recognized and do not start up. Thank-You

Not sure that this helps, but The Zen Vision M relies on Windows Media Player 0 (Windows Media Player 0 was the player that came with Windows XP). If you are running Windows XP you need to roll back your Windows Media Player (which has probably been updated to ) back to 0. If however you are running Windows 7 there is a bigger problem in that you cannot (as far as I've been able to ascertain) roll back to Windows Media Player 0 because Windows 7 won't support it

Initial sync between Desktop Manager and 8320 does not recognize internet connection

Am unable to do an initial sync between Desktop Manager and BB Curve 8320. Am getting error The computer must be connected to the Internet in order to initially configure synchronization settings. Please ensure that you are able to connect to the Internet and try again. Tried with version 4.3 and 4.6.0.12. I have a broadband connection that is always on and have also tried wirelessly. Just for trouble shooting purpose, turn off firewall and virus checkers,
Bring DM, go through the setup wizards, connect your BB and do a BACKUP first

Does not recognize Internet connection for 1.2.1 update

After updating iTunes to 7.0.2, information tells me there is an iPod update 1.2.1. After I hit either "download and install" or "download only" it informas the of error:
iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the internet. Make sure you are connected to the internet"

Westell 327W will not allow internet connection to Samsung C6800

After set up was complete, I ran a network test. The first (3) items were OK, but the last item camp up "The http port is blocked". Samsung tech support has no idea what the problem is. Verizon DSL tech support wants to charge me to try to fix. Any ideas?

#1 Check the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Servers on your computer.
For example if you are using Windows XP.
a) Go to Start -> Run.
b) Type in cmd and press enter.
c) In the new window, called the command prompt, type in ipconfig /all and press enter.
#2 Go to the Default Gateway that you found with your computer.

My Imac 10.9.1 will not recognize my canon8400 scanner! Is there a work-around? Canon no loger provides software or drivers for Mavericks.

I was looking here to post my problem with the 7350 and lo and behold, someone else has the same problem. I have gone through a significant amount more trouble shooting than the original poster with no positive results. The printer worked fine until I upgraded from OS 10.3 to 10.4. Since then I have been unable to print at all. I tried to install the driver via the disk. I tried to download the updated drivers from the website. I have spoken with HP tech support ad nauseum about the issue without any luck. I downloaded the latest GIMP-print version, the driver was not in there. I downloaded GhostPrint and Foomatic, the driver finally appeared in a list as an available selection, but the printer came up with GenericClass:waiting for device. I have used the HP util to install. I have installed via the Printer Browser (printer is connected via USB, direct, no hub). I have gone into the advanced feature of the Printer Setup Utility and add the printer this way with the same results. The printer works on the PC machine that sits on the adjacent desk. I am at wits end! I am this close from going "Office Space" on this machine and buying something else!
Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
