IMac snowleopard and Canon ELPH 300 digital camera

I am considering the purchase of a Canon ELPH 300 or 310 digital camera.  It tells me that it uses a mini USB connection to transfer the pictures from the camera to my computer.  I have USB ports on my iMac, but don't know what a mini USB port is.  So can you tell me if this camera will work with my iMac computer.  My iMac is 2 years old and had been upgraded from the Leopard OP system to the snowleopard.  Thank you for your information.
Linda

A mini USB connector is just a smaller version of the regualr one, often used on cameras & other small items where the larger connector would take up too much space:
Typically, cameras will come with a cable with the mini USB connector one end & the larger sized one that will fit your Mac on the other.

  • I'm purchasing a Canon PowerShot S80 Digital Camera...

I'm purchasing a Canon PowerShot S80 Digital Camera... Will the pictures taken on this camera import into my iPhoto? I own Mac OS X v10.4.7 and iPhoto 6.0.4.
While I'm at it, does anyone know if this will work with iMovie and iChat AV? I have iMovie HD 6.0.2 and iChat AV 3.1.5.
    Thank you so much.

Thank you! I have one more question (Sorry!)
I ordered the camera, and it won't come with a battery or charger, so I'm purchasing these:
    http://www.keybattery.com/productinfo.php/productsid/11377/ad/google
    http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php?masterid=13438887&search=cb2lw+batterycharger
Will these work with my camera? If not, can you tell me what I need to get and preferably at the cheapest price? Thank you so much for your time.

  • My Canon SD970 IS digital camera user manual is missing......

Well now I'm dead. I cannot find the User Manual for my Canon SD970 IS digital camera, I've Googled for user manual downloads, to no avail. I have never taken video with it and need the manual to learn how to take videos on it. 8-(

I don't know how I missed that at the Canon site -- probably careless reading when seeing the IXUS NUMBER (990) and passing over it, not knowing that Ixus 990 is the European name and number --- but mostly just careless reading.
I will do reading from this PDF form and print out relevant pages, but still would like to buy a paper booklet that I can stick in my purse.
Thank you again. You solved my issue.

  • Ipod Video 30g & Canon Ixus 750 Digital Camera

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience using the Ipod camera Connector with a Canon Ixus 750 digital camera - am about to buy the ipod video 30g and this is a must for travelling overseas for downloading photos.
If it does work (apple site doesn't list it as 'supported') where do the picture files end up - in a folder on the ipod accesible when youi connect to usb on my g4 powerbook?
    Any info would be appreciated

    Rick,
I have had no problem with a Rebel XT and the 60gb Video iPod.
There are a limited number of card readers which will also work according to this site:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPodCameraConnector
I have no first hand knowledge if they will also work the the video iPod as that list was generated for the 4G iPods.
There are several threads on the pro and cons of using the iPod as a digital wallet at the media and storage forum on DPreview. Do a search on "iPod"

  • HT4106 Is the IPad connector kit compatible with the Canon Eos 350D digital camera, I can't get it to work. Comes up as device not supported

is the  camera connector kit compatible with the Canon EOS 350D digital camera, as I can get it to work

Check what you've got 'Communications' set to on the camera's settings - it needs to be 'Print/PTP', not 'Normal' 'Normal' to 'PTP' :

  • Picture taking and videos vs. a digital camera?

I mananged to break my Sony 3.2 Megapixel Cybershot camera. I have been pleased with it, picture abilities, short video ability.
Anyway, it may not be worth fixing.
How does the iPhones photo and video taking ability to compare to a digital camera like this?
I would LOVE an iPhone, but can't justify buying one yet due to tight business budget, but if it can do great photo and video taking compared to a camera than I may just have to get one
Thanks in advance for all input!

Hi AndreaFahy, iphone takes nice simple still shots, it lacks a flash but you should be able to get good results in normal indoor lighting as well as outdoor daytime shooting. There are NO exposure adjustments on iphone, what you see is what you get. You must hold iphone very steady when pressing the shutter button or your picture will be out of focus, there is no tripod socket on iphone. There is NO video mode on iphone.
    Hope this helps, Steve.

  • HT201317 Has anybody an idea, why my jpeg-picture uploaded to Photo Stream does not appear on my S4 like all the other pictures before? Ok, it's 4 years old, but JPEG and taken with a digital camera...! I'm despaired after trying since days...! Thank you!

Has anybody any idea, why my jpeg-picture upoaded to Photo Stream does not appear on my iPhone S4 like all the other pictures before?
Ok, it's a 4 year old picture, but taken with a digital camera as jpeg...! This cannot be the problem really, but I'm despaired after trying since days...! Thank you all for any hint you've got for me!

If you asking me, I would suggest to additonally use a second storage service which also allows you to store your pictures over the 30 days period. I personally use Dropbox with automatic upload for that (https://db.tt/cMEgDUFZ), but there are also other storage services like Flickr for example.

  • Canon EOS Rebel Digital Camera Suggestion Upgrade

    Hello,
I currently have been using the Digital EOS Rebel. My issue is that I use the Remote Capure 2.75 software and it only works on Windows XP. Can someone give me a recommendation for a camera upgrade that uses also a Remote Capure software that will work on Windos 7.
    Thanks JR

I think Canon switching to EOS Utility for tether capturing so it is no longer support Remote Capture with newer OS. Canon Rebel is an old camera, and I know that Window Vista and newer OS would not recognize the camera so non of the software out there that I know of can provide tethered shooting for your camera on Windows 7. Maybe someone else know, but I think you will need to upgrade your camera.

  • Canon A710 IS  Digital Camera

I am looking to purchase a new camera and have kind of settled on this one in the title. Does anyone know if it works OK on 10.4? Is it easy to use with decent picture quality. Thanks for any help you might be,

My friend has that model and it seems to be a quality camera.
She lives away from me so I can't test it, but all of the reviews I have read say it is compatible.
Not much help-no hands on with your model, but my other Canons work well.

  • IMovie '09 and Canon HV30 HD Video Camera

    Hi,
Hoping someone who has this camera can assist, but I am looking at purchasing this Video Camera at some stage but have the following queries please:
    a) Are there any connection issues b/w this camera and iMovie '09 when transferring footage to iMovie '09?
    b) Is it via Firewire or USB?
    c) Are there any major issues/show stoppers about this camera and iMovie '09?
    d) Is this a decent camera or is it worth getting a non MiniDV video camera?
    Thanks.
    Tony.

I have a HV20, which is almost identical to the 30:
    a. no connection issues
    b. it is firewire (tape miniDV are firewire)
    c. there is a discussion about export quality in this forum, but nothing to do with the camcorder
    d. the HV series is one of the best HD camcorders - check out some reviews...

  • Has anyone interfaced LabVIEW to the Canon SDK for digital cameras?

I'm trying to call the Canon SDK to remotely control a Canon powershot g2. The SDK is comprised of DLLs compiled from C code. I'm getting an error when calling the first routine to run the SDK apparently because it needs to allocate memory for itself and is failing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA. David

It is always tough to use a third party driver. I recommend first reading "Using External Code in LabVIEW" manual. You can find it by opening LabVIEW >> help >> seach the labview bookshelf. This launches a pdf. The manual will be hyperlinked there.
The next thing to look for is a VB example in the SDK. Translating from VB to LabVIEW is straight forward and usually 1-1. Finally you may want to contact an Alliance member if you need this done fast. You can find the list at www.ni.com/alliance .

  • I have MacBook Pro bought 2011. After downloading update for Canon digital camera, computer screen is flickering (like curtain moving in breeze) when scrolling on all websites (slightly less with Safari )

I downloaded from Canon website an update to my Canon 750 IXUS digital camera. It downloaded various software products onto my computer which are outlined in the computer's database of software applications. From that time, this flickering effect occurs when scrolling through all pages using Firefox and to a lesser extent on Safari. It is like the effect of someone blinking rapidly and constantly and looking at the screen. When not scrolling there is no such effect. It is very disruptive when trying to read a page.

Whilst on holiday I downloaded pictures and video from my digital camera to my ipad. everything was fine. The digital pics and video footage played great! i have just got back and synced my ipad with my macbook and the video clips have been put onto the macbook but not reinstalled on the ipad. I get a message to say that the video clips have not been loaded as the ipad cant play them! Why has this happened? As i deleted the original clips off the camera once they were originally loaded onto the ipad i have no way of reinstalling them. Wat can i do to get them back onto the ipad?

ps when syncing it jumps through steps 1 - 4 real fast, i seem to remeber iphone showing the number of tracks transferring and names, but i see nothing? then it sits on 5 saying "waiting for changes to be applied"

  • Imovie and canon Mv 20

    Hello
I have a new iMac and old canon MV 20 digital camera. Imovie cannot find the camera. Have somebody resolved this problem?
    Thanks

It’s confirmed (at least till now) we can’t import the raw Full HD 60/50p video to iMovie for freely editing. Because 1080 50p and 60p are not standard video formats, they are unsupported by iMovie. iMovie can smoothly edit videos at 1080p 24/25/30, 1080i 50/60, 720p 24/25/30. So we have to change Canon XA201080 60p first. iMovie best supported format and codec is Apple Intermedaite codec MOV format, once you transcode Canon XA20 AVCHD to AIC in 25p/30p , you can play and edit Canon XA20 AVCHD in iMovie smoothly.
